My heart leafed baby was one of my first plants when I moved out on my own. I've had it for over 20 years now, in the same teeny pot with barely any fertilizer because I didn't know any better. I forget to water it for weeks at a time yet still the blasted thing has grown SO LONG that I have it wound around nails on my ceiling to keep it away from the cats! I feel its past time to repot, but I'm so afraid of killing it after all this time. It's like it thrives on neglect. I feel it won't know what to do if i step up its care lol
Take it easy with how you step up it's care. Only go up a single pot size you know it can fit in. And if roots dangle from bottom. Try trimming them a bit to help her adjust.
Finally ! ! somone who shows how far the plant is away from the window, or how a DRY plant looks like! im very new to plants (yes im 42 yrs old 😅) and look for relateable videos. you living in london and having south west facing windows is like my conditions. so THANK YOU for this very informative vidoe 🙏
I have two different kinds of philodendron plants in one pot that I bought together 🙂😍! I could not be happier 😊! She has lime green and another kind in the pot. Which is same as lime but just different. But both are heart leaf shaped
My mothers heart leaf philo. Grew to 15ft tall. It was a massive plant. It had its own shelf which it sat on top of as a king. It got indirect sun and just got so huge. Eventually my mother and i had to cut 14ft of it off and donate it to the church. Its around 35 years old. Now my mother will not let me take the shears to that plant to get a start. She wants it to get 15ft again. I was looking to see if they come in other colors. It is such a cool plant. Thanks for the vid. Just watch out. These plants like to get large fast.
I just brought my new heart leaf philodendron home, and it looks droopy and was a few days later-the soil seems moist still. Just shock from being moved, maybe?
Super easy going/comprehensive video. I really liked it. I’ve never seen your channel before but I will check out what else you’ve got! I am a plant mama too.
Thanks Emma! Love the brazil 🇧🇷! Got the heart leaf, lemon lime and micans (which I just propagated just in time before Mama Plant died...) I’m in the Philodendron season and I love them so much! Recently got my Glorious and Gloriosum, and the big leaves Philo. I’m binge watching your videos right now. Thank you, you are awesome. Appreciate much all the tips and infos! ♥️
I have lots of plants but I`m getting my first philodendrons in a few days… I can´t wait to see my new babys! Your video helped me a lot. They are kind of hard to get in Germany lol. :)
The heart one is at Lidi in a sea grass planter for a freaking fiver!. Also ZZ plants. We got one of each and jumped on here to see how the care for them. 👍🏼😜

I now fertilise with nearly every water in the summer at full strength liquid gold leaf. But that fertiliser is quite different to others on the market and I've not had any issues with burning the roots
Hey Emma .... I love the look of your philodendron it's just awesome I too have a philodendron but some other species of the philodendron ....... And I love the plant ..
Emma I've got the philodendron bipinnatifidum and the philodendron red Congo .... It would be really great if you could make a video with care tips on these .... Thanks a lot Steve dsouza 😊😊
@@GoodGrowing I absolutely love the statute looking pots!! The ones you have in the bottom left corner of you video (basically the face and body looking pot!) Not too sure if that made sense 🤣💗
i highly recommend shopping for pots in thrift stores and such! a majority of the pots i own are second hand and i love them dearly. you can easily find amazing pots for 1-3 dollars. new ones are so super expensive unfortunately.
At 9 mins into the video you taught me something I've searched about 5 longer videos for already haha avoid the draft of my ac unit basically. Thank you so much. Also different and more in depth information. LOVED the video. Thank you very much!
I heard that Thrips are in love with the philodendron brasil? I just got one and am afraid of getting Thrips now.. should I be worried and take any actions beforehand ro make shure I dont get thrips?
No harm in doing a preventative neem oil spray. but as long as you're checking/quarantining new plants and keeping an eye out for pests it shouldn't be too big of an issue.
