@Grayble's Gringus I think its more the CAF doesnt get the funding to do more than 1 project at a time (such as trying to get 15 air craft for probably the next 2 years.) Theres a reason why most of our kit is still from the coldwar.
@Grayble's Gringus it's poor tactics tanks need to be screened with infantry the Russians have relied too heavily on having more and better toys. They're lacking in infantry, trucks, and radios. All of which are bad for mobile warfare. They can't fight well anywhere they have too slow down most important for this war urban warfare which requires even more infantry but you need far more infantry too tanks then the Russians have for any war. They can't resupply far from railways which is pretty bad for breakthroughs. Worst lets say you break through but because of poor communication you can't tell command so you get cut off and destroyed. Don't blame the tool for being poorly used.
@Grayble's Gringus I mean i'd argue you're pretty wrong. Russia grossly misused them in the early part of the war, but Tanks along with artillery has been extremely important since then. And Ukraine's recent counter offensive would not be possible without tanks.
1:20 the thing is, Vienna was split like Berlin in 4 occupational zones during the Cold War (France, UK, USA, USSR) and the winners agreed on making Austria a neutral country between communism and capitalism. It remains like this to this day (though it might change soon)
I did not know about this. I feel like Austria's history just gets ignored post ww1. Like another country that got split like Germany? How do we not talk about that?

@@DavisSystems austria being neutral is good for europe. It took and is taking a quite important negotiating role. We need neutral states and austria being rather small and unimportant but also the border country between east and west europe makes it perfect for a neutral negotiater
To put some of this into perspective, Britian, despite Brexit, can field 3 combat divisions tomorrow whilst maintaining a global fleet and nuclear armaments. It is long past time Germany shouldered its fair share of responsibility, After all, the German economy is larger than Britain's, and yet we're expanding our military budget to 3% by 2030. But i'll be honest, even the suggested increases to German military spending is not enough, case and point 25 F35's..... I live in East Anglia and see F35's of the Royal Airforce training daily now with plans to have 74 in active service by 2025..... Sort your shit out Germany!
Generally speaking, I agree that Germany needs to pull its weight more militarily. But let's put things into perspective, shall we... the Bundeswehr is currently active in 13 missions around the world and they get frequently praised by their fellow armies when they're deployed so it's not like our military isn't capable of doing its job. The thing is that its job didn't include the immediate territorial defense of Germany since Germany doesn't have a border with a non-Schengen country and is a member of both the EU and NATO. Also, I'd like to see Eastern European countries like Poland or Greece try to reach 2% of their GDP without European subsidies (of which Germany pays the lion's share btw). Obviously the British military has completely different expectations as the corpse of your empire still remains in places like the Falklands where Argentina is still eager to push their claim. Could you elaborate what exactly you feel our responsibility is? Do you think that Putin would have thought "Mmh, Germany pays 2% of their GDP for military spending, I'll better not invade Ukraine then." Come on, thinking like that would be naive... Yes, we're all a bit disappointed that our government hasn't sent more heavy equipment but it's weird to see that Germany nevertheless sent a lot of necessary equipment, even if we're not talking about heavy tanks, as well as billions in aid and yet other countries that are contributing far less are ignored and aren't called irresponsible or whatever. Lastly, the British as well as the US-Americans have enough dirt in front of their own houses both recently and from the past, issues that were never properly addressed and reconciliated. So it's a bit ironic that you or the Americans like Trump would scream about Germany's responsibility. Don't worry, we try our best to learn from our history and to solve issues from the past, do you think you can say that about your own country as well or do you think that the UK might be responsible for a lot of unresolved shit in the world today as well? Germany has played a varied role in this whole Ukraine conflict. On one side our dependence on Russian oil and gas has given Russia a lot of money (something which I've always been against, since it was already clear back then that renewables are better in the long run), on the other hand Germany played a key role in 2014 and the subsequent years in brokering ceasefires like Minsk I and II, which gave Ukraine enough time to build up their country militarily and administratively. A lot of people forget that Ukraine in 2014 would have been crushed by Russia if Putin had decided not to wait for Ukraine to get stronger and eventually join NATO, which was a real concern back then even though people like to look at things with their wisdom of hindsight nowadays.
Appeasement and demilitarization is always "You're emboldening Russia", Rearmament and remilitarization is also always "You're emboldening Russia", there's no other way around it, but to actually appear capable in a fight to scare off bullies but hopefully not actually have to fight a bloody conflict.

Personally, looking at the start of the video. Germany has had a history of military glory. From Prussia to ww2 germany with their innovative tactics. Sure descaling is alright, But i believe just even having a bigger force than that measly number of tanks and aircraft, 1000 of each not only keeps you in a semi-war ready state if something ever happens, but also shows that you're ready to defend what is right, these restrictions are decades old and should atleast be lightened. Shouldn't keep the past from chaining us, Learn and Adapt. Although i must say Im open to criticism about this opinion. Updating, Maintaining and always making sure that the equipment is supplied is a must have, That alone of not having a single combat ready division is shameful as he says.
Like the fighting spirit of Germany from those times still exists... The people of Germany are not currently willing to fight in a new world war. The Russians, and Chinese, ARE. This is not the way I want things to be, but let us be realistic.
Wehraboos take. War has changed, very rapidly at that. Prussian glory and panzers are not going to stop Berlin from being drone striked, or, you know, nuked. Modern multi-arms warfare has been near perfected in the modern age, and I doubt any napoleonic generals are going to be coming out with some new shit that revolutionizes warfare. Germany is not only behind in numbers but in experience. I think you're picturing Angela Merkel in a Super-duper hi tech Panther tank riding into Moscow with erika playing in the background and a pointy hat, but in reality no amount of past military glory is going to change Europes growing military insignificance, let alone Germanys which has been crippled for nearly 100 years.

I would recomend watching Perun that focuses on the procurement and processes we don't think about in the military "Defence economics" or Russia's relation with NATO countries.
History is cyclical. "Russia is a dwarf, I will bring her to her knees." Charles 12th, 18th century. Sweden lost its status as a great power forever. "I will conquer backward Russia." Friedrich, mid 18th century. In 1759 the Russian army entered Berlin. "Russia is a colossus with feet of clay." Napoleon, 19th century. In 1814 the Russian army took Paris. "I will conquer the USSR by the end of the year." Hitler, 20th century. In 1945, he committed suicide when the Soviet army entered.
The hilarious thing about Charles the 12th, is that Peter was willing to surrender territory all the way down to Ukraine. But the madlad wanted ALL of Russia, which gave Russia the opportunity to envelop the small but way stronger army of Sweden. Doesn't matter how strong or great you are at fighting if you run out of food.
All epochs when Russia was not nearly as cut off technologically as it is today. In each of these wars (expet the war against sweden) they had allies who were more powerfull than themselves (. Today China will not lift a finger for Russia. In each of these wars they had manpower. Today, they're knocked off there too. During the Second World War, every Russian family had 6 sons, today it is statistically 0.75.
Rest of NATO: doesn’t spend nearly as much as they should Sweden and Finland: spends as much as they should, extradites Turkish oppositionals and are still not being let in.
You're entirely right about hindsight. There's plenty of smart people who (could have seen this coming and) didn't anticipate properly. If we were less optimistic, we could have prevented the last world war too. But taking on a pessimistic stance is what got us in all the wars before that.
politicians hate spending money and love kicking the can down the road. imagine all nato countries spent trillions on a bunch of weapons and no invasion happened. you are left in a situation like russia was in before the war where they have a million tanks and no one to use them on. i heard the real reason the second gulf war happened is because u.s.a and britain had so much weapons lying around that were basically obselete and they either had to be used or its wasted money. imagine how poorly russia would have performed if they waited another 20 years to use old soviet equipment. politics is mad complicated.
The logic was that tanks are useless in the modern war. Expectations were, there would be no large fronts (due to the nukes), and the focus was on hyper-localised air superiority w/ quality over quanitity. Hence the $80mil planes with $1.3 tril research & industry programme. That would probably be useless again any semi-modern - and numerous - dispersed and sticking to the cities infantry-mostly army with decent ground-to-air weaponry. Next to zero damage unless you go low - and if you do, - very high risks to get hit.
It's kind of mind-boggling with just 6+ months of war eroded 60+ years of Russian perceived military strength. Top to bottom there's lots of problems with the Russian military, it's structure, and leadership.
@@Putput-se5ew I think at this rate, they're just gunning to take what land they can to "liberate" as a new country and they'll just spend their time defending it. At this point there's no way they can take the whole country at all.

During Chechen wars goverment where literally assembling small army from thousands of different regiments, police, even ministeries's special forces (like Ministery of Judicary lol). The only part of the army, which was able to fuction adequately where strategic nuclear arms. So all the millitary strengh during this war is like from late 2000-s or something.
I am always amazed that many people forget the fact that Russia (according to various estimates) involved 200 thousand people (given that Russia has a regular army close to 1.5 million soldiers) against 600 thousand Ukrainians and is still slowly advancing, or at least defending the captured lands
I don't think the German citizens are willing to make sacrifices at any category, especially for the Army. They been having it all rainbows and heaven and now when the belt tightens it might deadlock their politics indefinitely cause of their reactions. Best thing for Germany is to just give its equipment to far more capable European armies than just starting to rebuild its own.
Exactly. Industry, technical sophistication, and more equipment does not avail a nation that is not even willing to fight. A man with a sharp stick beats a man with a gun if he is too terrified to ever USE it.
Europe should just form its own military alliance, without the US. Putin only attacked because he knew exactly that we wouldn't do shit without a response from Washington, but it was the bravery and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people, military as well as civilians, and the volunteer fighters, who stopped the Russian advance in the first days. Also what people don't know is that the military-industrial-complex is using the German state as a way to cut cost. Private mercenaries like to buy our officers, special unit soldiers, police elite forces etc, trained by the Bundeswehr, but hired by private firms (who happen to not fall under international law because human rights etc are mostly concerned with armies maintained by a state and private armies weren't a thing back then). So they let tax payers finance the training and get all the profit for private mission for themselves. Another reason are export profits. Germany is the 3rd largest arms dealer in the world (by money, Chinese are 3rd if you go by sheer volume, but German weapons are more expensive). Foreign countries like to pay some nice money for it, I don't see a reason why we should waste so much money on competing with sheiks and other rich criminals, during peacetime at least. And then there's the fact that it's Olaf Scholz. Non-Germans will likely think that we're weak and that we're now finally getting a bigger army, but I'm 1000% sure there's some corruption involved. Scholz has been known for his corruption, he's one of many many key figures in THE biggest scandal of tax theft in the history of Germany, ever, and I mean every forms of a German state. There has never been such a waste of tax payer money like the Cum Ex Scandal (look it up!), hundreds of billions just "disappeared" into the pockets of mostly private banks, and Scholz was one of many key figures in political key positions, he literally says that he "can't remember what he did" that all he says, this dude is such a scam, the only reason he won is because the conservatives are just as corrupt and we can't bear them anymore. I'm sure they had this plan for decades, and now's the opportunity to get that fine tax payer money in exchange for expensive shit that noone needs. Europe should have one, large but also cost- efficient army instead of each country doing there own corrupt shit, this is such a joke. We don't have the money for proper education, our elderly have to pickup bottles other people threw away because they're pension pays so little, we don't have the money for proper public transport or environmental issues, but another 100 billion for the military industry? EZ! No, I'm definetly not buying this, people have always consented to give up all they have in exchange for the feeling of security, this is just the same old scam over and over.

His content is so much more than this and would also make sense for his view to be that from the west point of view since most of his viewers are from the west. He also covered the West times before too.
You mean listening to that sock puppet speak about hypotheticals? Yeah I think you need a brain checkup Russian misinformation bot. Caspean Report is by far more reliable than sock puppet binkov and his hypothetical battleground
Well, according to expectations from these youtubers from even a year prior, the Russian army was supposed to be the second best in the world. We all saw how that turned out. It's actually not that simple to know for sure where we stand right now. Let's hope that we'll never have to find out.
@@lukasbudis5108 As much as war is terrible and all that it would be pretty nice to finally see all these people who have said that Russia is the strongest and USA is terrible to be shut up. Probably would be the only positive of a war
@@lukasbudis5108 Maybe Russian army IS the second best in the world, and maybe it isn't. But the Western media is def. number one with no number two by a mile, so you see and hear what you supposed to. "Ruble to rubble!", "they'll get out of rockets in two weeks", "their economy will cease to exist the moment we turn off the gas pipe", "nobody in the World will deal with Russians", "the regular Russian citizens will revolt any day now", "Turky is a NATO member, they'll push on Russia hard", "China will be scared to help them because sanctions" etc, etc. Meanwhile EU military stockpiles are empty, Ukraine started drafting women, and Russia wages war with a peace time army. Try to ignore what people tell you they think Russians are planning, and try to recall what prediction they've made just a month ago. The picture might start looking diifferent.
To be honest I don't think there is a way out at this point. Welp time to just sit back and hope we finally get material for a cod game other the ww2/modern war themed. Was getting board
Hold on a minute you’re telling me the Germans are able to give the Polish half 1000 leopard tanks and Germany does not have at least over 1000 of its own leopard twos wtf

@@sergeya6319 Don't make me laugh. That comparison is so poor. You're comparing a protest that can get you sentenced to 12 years in jail to what a fine for not obeying the lockdown? Oh you poor, poor man. You better play the victim card now and feel offended by my criticism
