I have heard several Nebraska Cornhuskers Football fans talk about how they are concerned about how the team is recruiting for the 2025 cycle. While Nebraska's recruiting needs to improve, I want to discuss in this video why Nebraska Football must focus on development and winning before focusing on recruiting. Matt Rhule was hired as Nebraska's head coach to win games and compete for the Big Ten and College Football Playoff. This 2024 season, with an easy schedule and an experienced, improved roster, I think Nebraska Football will earn 8-9 wins and use that momentum to recruit better than ever. We talk about all of this and more in this episode of College Football with Sam. Make sure to comment so I can interact with you and answer any questions you have!

I think they win 6 this year. 5-2 before the tough stretch and win one in there. Bowl bound, even though it would be funny if the streak continues 😅

@@kosybs8770you think Nebraska does 6-6 your crazy lol there gonna go 10-2 11-1 we return everyone on our defense that finished 11th best in the country and we weren’t terrible on offense we just led college football in turnovers that’s not gonna happen with Raiola Nebraska should’ve been 9-3 last year all 4 games we lost by 3 points we should’ve won easily and we sold the game away on all of them 2nd year in rhules system and development plus adding Dylan Raiola Nebraska is gonna be a problem

@@zachcontreras2862 lol damn, you need to chill. He is a freshman, he will have a couple of “learning” games. He isn’t god. And the defense…how is LB play going to be? How about corner? Teams now have a year of tape to breakdown, can they be as effective this year? There is absolutely no chance they win ten games, I don’t bet, but would bet a lot of my money on that lol

Nebraska has been in a developmental black hole since the back half of the Pelini era. Very hopeful that changes under Rhule.

Nebraska was able to recruit for years based off past success. Those days are over. However, Rhule seems to know, that locking down the 500 mile radius and development are the 2 biggest keys to success.

Hello Sam, I agree Nebraska doesn't have a Great 2025 Recruiting Class lined up at this point. However, they won't be having a large class either way. It is common knowledge that they currently have about 78 Freshmen or Redshirt Freshmen for 2024 Roster

Hello Sam, This is great analysis of the Cornhuskers! Recruiting is important. Nebraska needs to win more battles for top talent; however, as you point out, this will likely happen when we start winning games. The Huskers have been poorly coached for a decade. I believed Frost, being from Nebraska & seeing how it was done firsthand in the past, would understand the importance of excellent training & development. Nebraska has been out coached by Wisconsin, Iowa, & Minnesota consistently and I am hopeful Coach Rhule and his staff will change this. Those teams have been more physical and sound. They pound Nebraska and wait for the Huskers to wear down or implode. With better development, sound coaching, & players getting it done on the field, this year can be different. We’re a mediocre football team until we show we aren’t. I’ll always root for the Huskers, I’m hoping this year we take the step. I don’t see any teams on the schedule where the win should be taken for granted. As many have pointed out, I can see a path to a very good record if Nebraska shows the improvement on both sides of the field (but especially on offense). Again, great analysis on your part!

Yes Nebraska needs to develop. They've had better recruiting classes yet routinely lose to the likes of Iowa and WI. They can not think that recruiting 3*'s and coaching them up will bring long term high level success. They need to continue to recruit against and with AL, OR, GA, and the OSU's of the world. But it all begins with development and culture.

Nebraska when it's elite is a gold standard of development. That's why they built their new facilities to focus on that first above all else. That and to accommodate the massive roster they like to have. That said, because their roster is so big this class is not going to be big or super highly rated. They are really concerned about all the talk about roster limits and expecially cutting walkons and are hedging to have to make some tough decisions in order to find scholarships for guys who are on the team but don't have one right now or even cut guys - which is something they have to avoid. Nebraska's recruiting rankings were always inflated. Yes they always recruited in the top 25 but they had awful coaching, development and retention. They lost most of their top talent between signing day and game day. They have been paper thin on depth and it shows when they have injuries. Expecially injuries on the scale they had last season. It was most obvious at QB. There was nothing there, but that should be expected considering who built that room. Never forget, Scott Frost told Joe Burrow he would never be able to play QB at the FBS level when Burrow wanted to walk on at Nebraska. The one thing I will say is that at least for the first time, the issues were nearly all on the field and not on the sideline. For the first time in probably 20 years.

Not exactly. Rhule was hires to develop at a high level and have a all around tough team. Beat teams you are supposed to beat and beat a ranked opponent and show up if they do not win. Make it close, make them beat you. That is true the huskers haven't won enough to get top recruiting classes. When they show they can develop guys at a high level and can have winning seasons, they will get more talented classes.

While I agree with most points, I do think that the recruiting services give Nebraska recruits rating bumps just to keep our obsessive fan base engaged. I just don’t see how it’s possible for us to miss on all these 4 stars through the years. I agree our development has been nonexistent, but I think our recruiting rankings have been slightly inflated, and it makes us such an outlier in that graph

@CharlieBoiiTV2 21 день назад
You have to recruit top talent to develop players. Not Development over Recruiting. You can't develop players if they dont go against the best in practices everyday. If a C level player practices against another C level player your team becomes C level. If that same C level player practice against A level talented players, then you become an A level player.

I guess everyone on the planet forgot last year was coach Rhules first year. Apparently if you dont win 10 games in year one your a dirty dog program and should drop the program..just rediculous.. we have 78 freshmen and redshirt freshman from top 25 classes and thats just a shit roster... i guess it doesnt matter Rhule has never had a top 30 class at his other stops yet managed 10 win seasons means hes a shit coach. whatever apparently nobody would believe he had Temple and Baylor ranked ..people probably think thats a lie..
