Honestly, the HR7 urgent dalamadur from MH4U was the most intimidating for me. You go in with nothing except “hey, go kill this giant snake”, and, while he’s nowhere near as hard as any of the g/rank elders, the fear factor is just insane

late reply, but his hitboxes are janky like that due to the spikes. his ground plunge punch with no spikes is very easy to dodge. but once he grows spikes on his arms, those spikes shoot out. his head slam is the same. with no spikes, it's easy to dodge, but once he gets spikes on his head, he shoots them out in front of him like a shotgun. same with the shoulder ram. essentially, the spikes augment his attacks immensely, meaning more damage and bigger hitboxes. hope this helps you. and if you already knew, hope i helped someone else.

Yeah that dive bomb hitbox is messed up, many times on my screen I knew I was outside of being hit but yet once he bombed and being way back behind the tip of his tail he still hit me.

So..... Nergigante is basically an aggressive Dark Souls boss. Mean and punishing to a fault where you exploit that very weakness.

SmugLookingBarrel his spikes ejects from his body when he does certain moves. It's not him hitting but the spikes the fly out afterwards.

There are more monsters with wonky hitboxes. Diablos bodycheck for example. His body moves faster tha nhis hitbox, his burrowing attacks hitbox lingers longer than it should and some monsters attacks, like Uragaans tailwhip, hits for full damage behind him, although his tail stopped moving.

AkantoreX The biggest problem in MHW since Solo and Multiplayer are now separated imo. Sometime I wonder if it wouldn't be interesting to start a quest with four players and then ask the 3 others to leave in order to solo a Monster with more HP

Adenine MHWorld punishes for multiplayer since it reduces your zenny rewards if more people are in. If at one point 4 players were in, you'll get only 1/4 of your overall reward. For carts you lose an additional multiplicative 3rd so you'll only get 1/6 with 1 cart and 1/12 with 2. Even if you are not the one to cart. Also I found that I clear most quests faster if I just solo them. I used to like multiplayer but I avoid it in world.

Smoking would make it raspy and not necessarily deeper. It's probably a combination of him have a habit of talking from his upper chest mostly and his natural voice. When people learn to talk/when their voices change they often subconsciously choose a few areas to draw the air from. Upper chest/ lower throat will usually make your voice sound lower. I only know this because my moms a speech therapist.

When you run towards the monster you will roll and when your run away from it you will dive. Be sure to look for a little bit of running animation after sheathing your weapon before diving just in case.
