Nick is correct. The NBA is playoffs and that’s it. The NFL season is short, EVERY game matters and it’s playoff mode for half the teams. I love that about the NFL.
Yes they did. Catering to stars, putting outs garbage product. Players run amok, load management. Lakers played the Bucks, big profile game, Lebron sits out. Bet he plays against the Grizzlies.
Don’t care about the nba. It’s going to be terrible football with lots of players out and making people that would normally have the day off have to go to work. Screw this.
Idk when it happened exactly. I used to LOVE the NBA but sometime a few years ago I just realized that I’m not having any fun watching NBA basketball anymore. Every game was the same. All teams built to do the same thing. All games are just defenseless 3 point contests or free throw drills. I just can’t bring myself to watch it anymore
this is pure NBA cope. the NFL dominates all league and christmas will be no different. there is no hypnosis spell that they used to make people think no games are missable. people just love football because its fun to watch. oh and BTW they already have games ALL of TG. you think those games aren't missable to people? its a complete absurd take by nick, hes coping his favorite sport is dying and irrelevant, and will be more so once steph and lebron retire.
Some people have Thanksgiving at lunch, and some at dinner. Some people have Christmas at lunch, and some at dinner. If your team is at 1.00 on Christmas, you'll just have Christmas at dinner. If your team is at 4.00 on Christmas, you'll just have Christmas at lunch.
Cool…NBA players still make more money then NFL players!..you can watch all the NFL games you want!..NFL players can’t even sniff a NBA players contact!..
The NFL doesn't need to 'attack' the NBA. The worst/most boring game all year in the NFL will still have 3x the amount of viewers as the most exciting/best NBA game of the year. It's not even close.
@OnlyMorale bro who are you and where are you going with this? Of course they make more, there's only 12 players in comparison to 53.... with wayyyy more games..idk what you're inferring by your ignorant comment......BUT nice try. 🤡 THE NFL IS THE #1 SPORTS LEAGUE IN THE WORLD. It’s no secret why NBA is not growing. It’s the way the game is officiated. Nobody wants to watch a game where the odds are stacked against the better team because their opponent is a larger market. For instance, the blatant push to get LA Lakers into the playoffs turned me off to then NBA a few days ago. NFL might be fixed but they don’t make it as obvious if it is cause I can’t tell.
@@carsonwentz8301 I 100% agree. It’s sad to watch. The NBA has a unique opportunity where there are a lot of small market teams that are really good. Orlando, Milwaukee, Indiana, Denver, Thunder, and timberwolves. They could be taking this time to actually try to grow those markets, rather than giving LA or NY or Boston bogus foul calls to keep the game close/try to make them win. Boston is the only actual good team out of those three, NY still has to do what they been doing for alittle longer
@hunner9500 it's not market its a it's about superstars. If LeBron was in Cleveland they would get the benefit of the whistle....o wait. And Mahomes is in KC
If you’re watching nfl on Christmas against family wishes, I think you gotta chill out. NFL games happen weekly, almost daily. Memories with families are finite. Unless packers are playing ;)
yeah, having the opinion that the NFL growing and stealing market share from other leagues is a strategic error. he also said its horrible for the NBA. so how can something be horrible for the NBA and NFL at the same time? who is winning here, MLB and NHL? cmon, his take is pure NBA cope because the writing is on the wall. the NBA is trash and once bron leaves, i guarantee you it becomes unwatchable.
The NBA is a game of horse now. Not interesting anymore. I'm sure some still love it, but I'll pass. I've tried to get back into it many times, but it's become the Globetrotters vs the Generals. May as well as play the games in their driveways. I do agree with Nick on one thing: oversaturation could be a problem.
I used to be an NBA junkie. Now I don’t watch a single game until the playoffs. The players don’t care about the regulation season so neither do I. 🤷🏾♂️
@@mranderson8725 That is FAR from a false narrative. The NBA has BEEN a snoozefest until after All Star Break. The day I stopped watching the NBA was when the league nixed a trade that would have brought Chris Paul to the Lakers. The NBA literally took action in order to stop the Lakers from competing for another championship. The league's most stories franchise has never been the same, even since Lebron James came to LA. This was a massive miscalculation. The league seemed to have no idea how many hundreds of millions and millions of Lakers fans there were all over the planet.
Dude, this whole house of cards is gonna fall. The entire entertainment industry as well as our society as a whole is going to need a "factory reset". It's gonna take a while because consumers are addicted to "the product". Notice that we live in an "addiction based economy." I mean that literally. (That includes illegal and LEGAL drugs, of course). Our economy is no longer based on competition for putting out the best product. Most of our products SUCK. (Sure, they were once great, but) Once corporate greed took over, it's about keeping people addicted, not about making the product great and actually WORK for the consumer. Consumers are too addicted to stop using a "falty product" that is bad for them.
The nba has been putting out a mediocre product for years now. I’d rather watch meaningful nfl games then nba guys giving 80 percent because they’re saving up their energy for the playoffs

NFL always been popular and every game is important compared to the other sport because basketball, baseball, etc are longer seasons than the nfl season. Don't get excited until the playoffs start tbh
U know how Many CTE nfl players get a Year. no wonder its unwatchable players are Calling it Quits everyone i knew from 2010-2024 Gone Gee i wonder Why???
They all have, Florio doesn't like to gamble, claims he never does but still loves to bring up gambling frequently and of course pushes all the books that support NFL betting
I love the NFL, but I hate that it’s become a behemoth that will sell out to make more $$$. I despise the Thursday night game as anyone who ever played football knows that 3-4 days rest is not enough. I hate that a playoff game was streaming only this year as everyone pays enough for cable, streaming, internet. I hate that the NFL went to 17 games and will probably go to 18 as the season goes into mid February now. The beauty of football and sports is time away leaves you wanting more. The Superbowl used to be at the end of January and you would take a break from the sport until the draft in April. Them you would take a break until training camp in August and you’d be ready for the season. Now the NFL promotes itself 365 days a year and you never get that break. The media like Colin Cowherd admits they will talk about football more because of this. Less is more sometimes, and that’s what made the NFL great. Now it’s in your face all the time.
nfl having a grip on half of Americas every single Sunday is the #1 reason for their success no doubt. It’s the day of rest and a lot of people are off work, even if ppl work there are games from 1pm-12am week in and out. One business owning half of America’s sundays is just mind boggling
If the players want their salary cap to go up to have more money available for contracts then the league revenue needs to go up because that's what helps determine it so NFL is gonna do anything they can to do that. It's just business.
It's worth pointing out that NFL games on holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. are often not very good games at all even if they get a big rating. I hardly ever remember any holiday game that actually is worth the 3+ hour investment. Remember that Black Friday game on Amazon Prime? Dolphins and Jets? How did that one go? The Thanksgiving games last season were all blowouts too and a slog to watch. Thursday Night Football is the same way... bad games.
My entire extended Italian family loves nothing more than games on Christmas and a game being on at every family party. It doesn’t even have to be our beloved Lions. Anyone else’s family like this? We are ecstatic to have another game delivered us that day, haha!
The NBA quality has declined since 2002. Players sit out games, they don't really compete until late March/early April. So why should consumers bother watching or buying tickets until April ? Easy solution 1. Cut the regular season to 40 games - make each game matter more 2. Make a hard salary cap with non guaranteed contracts - incentive players to compete, plus too many teams get wrecked because they're carrying ridiculous guaranteed contracts for underperforming players. 3. Eliminate 4 teams - there is too much talent diluted with stars stranded on teams going nowhere 4. Make it mandatory for draft eligible players to spend at least 3 years in college so they can develop - far too many players come in and are either total busts or don't contribute til year 4 or 5, and then they're up for a new contract and may want out. Its on the job training.
All well and good, but do you think any of these we remotely feasible? 1. League revenues are contingent upon X number of games. Parking and concession money goes right into an owner’s pocket, but it requires more event inventory. You think they’re going to agree to give that up? 3. The league is discussing expansion. Which franchises would you want dissolved, and how would you expect to buy out the 4 you get rid of? You can’t unspread peanut butter. 4. Even if mandatory college play could survive a legal challenge-which it wouldn’t-how would you enforce that against foreign players?
NBA has become too much of an outside USA game in order to peak our interest! The NFL has a team in Europe, Canada, or anything outside this country there next
the nba doesn't need an excuse. they made record profit and revenue just last season. that's why record contracts were giving out last summer.. thats why adam silver got an extension and that's why there are expanding into vegas or Seattle
The NBA deserves everything they’re getting they sold 100 years of history to sustain ONE PLAYERS career. Play in tournaments, in season tournaments, bubble championships. It’s been downhill since. Tradition wins. The NBA will be WWE in a decade.

The NBA hasn't been the same since the glory days of the 1980's and 1990's. I watched a couple of finals games last year but that is it. I love football and I am very happy to have games on Christmas day. I haven't watched the NBA on Christmas day for more years than I can remember.
The NBA turned its back on fans DECADES ago. November is a stupid month to open a season IF YOU DONT WANT TO COMPETE WITH THE NFL. Gone are the days of Bird and Magic saving the league; now just a bunch of brand building Prima donnas. The NFL can and will play WHENEVER THEY WANT, because nobody cares about the NBA/WNBA garbage being put out. The INAUGURAL IN SEASON TOURNAMENT?!😝😜🤪😂😂😂😂😂😂 Beat thing the NBA can do is pick your fights with MLB BASEBALL but moving opening day NBA to the Monday “holiday” after the Super Bowl.
The regular season schedules of America’s big four professional sports leagues need reform. It makes no sense to have NBA and NHL competing for attention during the same months. To make matters worse, they’re increasingly getting marginalized by the ever growing popularity of the NFL and college football. Instead, let’s consider pairing an outdoor (stadium) sports league with an indoor (arena). The easiest solution would be moving the NBA regular season to begin right around the NHL Payoffs - running through the summer and early fall, really only competing with Major League Baseball.
The NBA did it to themselves and it is just the playoffs for them. The NBA and their product is terrible! It is all threes and no defense! There is no variety in playstyles, team styles or an approach to the game at all and it’s gotten boring to watch and I’ve been watching since the 90’s
That’s total BS. The NBA and basketball in general is a global sport. The NFL could never compete on a global stage. It’s too freaking gimmicky and filled with all kinds of silly rules. Even the women’s game is more watchable than MLB.
I think this LeVBron & Steph stuff is overplayed. If ratings are flat, it’s because fans are more passive than ever. In other words, they are taking in less games than they used to, but a lot more peripheral sports content. Hell…in 10 years idk if there’ll be enough attention span left in the avg. American to consume anything but Tic Tocs & sound bites?!? 🤷♂️ Pretty sad..💯
Because they will get millions of viewers and the NBA is not a threat. There seems to be the belief that the NBA is popular or getting more popular. However, the viewership is pretty bad and has been for years. National regular season games are routinely beaten in the ratings by cable tv shows and reruns. It’s very much a regional sport not that different than MLB. You also can’t dismiss the growth of legalized gambling and how the NFL is suited to cater to the average gambler. It’s a big if not major reason why the NFL has retained its popularity while other sports from a viewership perspective has declined. That and Taylor Swift. Haha!
Cool….all that being said….and NBA players STILL make more money then NFL players!.. So you can try to Dilute the nba with all these clown numbers you talking!.. As long as NBA players are making more then NFL players?!..the NBA will ALWAYS be the big brother to the NFL!.. Jaylen Brown who’s not even a top 10 player in the nba makes $50 million dollars more then Patrick Mahomes!..but you want to give viewership numbers!.. Yea alright😒!.. A NFL player would love to have a contract like an NBA player!.. Good try tho!..
I would argue NBA isn't even a sport under United States law, I believe that law states all participants need to be treated equally and the NBA has a huge star player call problem. With social media, NBA is being consumed differently, you no longer need to stay in front of tv 3 hours plus waiting for that dunk or crossover, that's what old people do, kids can just watch 5-10 second clips of those on social media. Pandering to player power and woke needs has turned off many fans. Men's college basketball games have regularly outdrew NBA games on the same nights, Caitlyn Clarks have beaten NBA games on most nights, certainly since New Years. There's a reason NBA is taking a knee to China and that is because people in US have turned off the NBA. I think it was last year or two years ago, first 2 rounds plus had the best playoff ratings in a decade, then Steve Kerr brought up BLM and social justice and the ratings tanked to one of the worst ever. NBA needs new commissioner with some balls and the woke players and coaches to leave the game.
The NFL will keep doing this until the NBA stops letting the players run the league. NBA (owners/commissioner) they have no back bone to stand up and run the NBA. Baseball is no different, well it’s different in its own way. Too old school and season too long. Make changes baseball and you can become Americas pass time again.
I’ve really come to like Nick a lot despite his delusional LeBron takes. However, I can’t tell if this is delusion or purposefully taking the other side because there’s no way he can legitimately feel that this is a mistake for the NFL. The NBA has really been done since 2016.
NFL fans are idolaters. I've stopped watching and it's refreshing having my Sundays back to spend with my family and living life instead of wasting it sitting on a couch.
Why is this an attack on the NBA. They don't give a damn about the NBA. Nor should they, it's competition always for ratings. I'm happy about this for sure bc outside of international market where NBA really shines in their ability to make money, here in America, Baseball is way more popular in terms of viewership and the NBA for years would go out of their way including the media to make consumers think otherwise. Karma is a bitch. Truthfully, the NBA is boring with only a handful of teams really having an opportunity to win a chip every year and a sport that is dominated by bs calls and special treatment for their favorite players again within the context of a few teams being able to win a chip makes it boring
NBA absolutely dropped the ball. I haven't been a Silver believer for years now, he has squeezed every little ounce of juice out of the league at an astonishing pace with pretty much caving to the players full stop and giving them almost all the power. This isn't about marketing and missing their next big player. This has been a downslope for years now. The gather step rule was a joke that made offenses skyrocket, rules that put refs in tough spots to call a consistent game that makes them look even worse. The media only wanting to talk about Lebron and big market teams. The last TV deal was a joke because every game has a paywall behind it besides the couple games a week on TNT or ABC. The in season tournament makes no sense. Once this new TV deal is less than desirable it speaks big trouble for all small market teams. Regular season has no meaning anymore because the players have lost that meaning for it. That's the domino effect and Silver just continues to roll with the punches instead of being a commissioner. NBA will be on a sinking path until a new commish is brought in but the damage is already done.
@adtastic1533 It’s illegal for the NFL to play on Saturday during college football season because of the Sports broadcasting act of 1961. They can’t broadcast an NFL game within 75 miles of a high school or college football game.
@@LembeckIsStaying I didn’t watch the video, was Joe Biden mentioned here? Did you know that voting is meaningless and these two parties are almost identical?

I’ll be one of the people that once Steph retires I’ll probably be done with the NBA. Reason being because even tho he didn’t invent the 3pt shot he did make it his signature. Now everyone wants to copy that style but the problem is there’s only 1 Steph. Is cool when there’s an enigma like him going against different styles but teams instead of trying to combat it decided to copy on how to be a 3 Pt shooting team and that to me made the league boring.
I really thought nick was acting when he says LBJ is the goat, but now with his christmas story I think hes just dumb. “The ratings will bê amazing, but that guy that the Wife wont let him watch will hate” hahahahah
