So why isn’t Perkins backing Doncic this year? 34 pts a game. Instead he’s backing the guy who’s 7th in scoring? Bottom line is Joker should be getting his 4th straight MVP this year and everybody knows it.
why do you think? because hes a racist and he was projecting about white guys not being best shooters but getting mvps and all i can say is well well well
Which, ironically, is exactly what makes Jokic a true MVP over somebody like Embiid who whines about getting the MVP but takes a "s*** happens" attitude toward failure in the playoffs. Jokic is focused on playing his best *to be able to make his team better and win a championship because that is what is valuable to the team*. It is the MVP award, not the "best individual player award"
This perk, stephen etc.Thay should be accountable and prosecuted for amount of lies and misinformation they throw into the air.this is not funny anymore,it’s disturbing…
Gotta love clown perkins saying how jokic didnt deserve it last season despite being by far the best player on the best team(by record as well), but this season his main argument is that tatum is the best player on the best team. What an absolute clown. With like 95% of espn as a whole.
Jokic is likely the MVP every year from now until retirement. If the award is wrongly given to anyone else, it will be a mixture of bias, racism, and silly arguments.
@@johnscott2040 An all star that was injured for almost half the season, along with most of the rest of the team. Luka carried them alone and kept them from sinking completely, which just makes his case even stronger. It’s only since the trade deadline that they’ve actually had something resembling a functional team.
The MVP has turned an award depending on your skin color thanks to Hendricks and Stephen A. ESPN allows this kind of narrative. It's not a suprise if Jokic or Doncic doesn't win the award having better statistics.
2 great notes about Perkins' "Top 10 in scoring since 1990" MVP claim: Dirk was actually tied for 10th in scoring his MVP year, so he's wrong on that. Also, the year before his arbitrary 1990 start date, Magic Johnson won the MVP and was outside the top 10 in scoring. I know you're all shocked to hear that.
If he doesnt win then its all b cus of one reason. The fact that the media cant accept a european(Serbian) Guy to have multiple MVP. Also it could happen because he isnt a showman, that screams around when scoring an easy bucket
Jesus, that was a horrible, racist take by Perkins. Privilege is the ability to make as many racist statements as Stephen A and Perkins do, and still be on the air.
You have to also consider that the entire east is full of inconsistent bums. The only realistic contenders in that conference is the bucks and Celtics, but the Celtics despite even having the best record can’t win a game when there actaully faced up with good competition. Now let’s get to Tatum there is no way he wins it over Luka, Giannis, Alexander, and Jokic there numbers are just better and the western conference is ten times more competive as three teams have mvp candidates, that’s saying something. No way in the world Tatum wins it.
The idea that the *best* player on the team with the *best* record is the most *valuable* player is stupid beyond belief. The player that does the most to make his team a success is the most valuable to his team, which is why there is always the balancing act between "who is contributing what toward how much success". You cannot be the MVP on an unsuccessful team (how can you contribute value to a lack of achievement?) but it does not have to be the best team. And it is easier to be the MVP when you are clearly the key to the team's success rather than one of many--you are not as valuable if others can step up and cover for you. You are valuable if you are indispensable to the team's success. Otherwise, you are are replaceable.
Good comment, John, but might I suggest that, by design, the MPV COULD be won by a player on a losing team? That is, the MPV should be viewed, as you said, "The player that does the most to make his team a success." IOWs and as an example, you could have a piss-poor team, ranked #32 say, but say that team's MPV launches that team to a 50/50 season. So, he could be the "MVP" of the NBA over all other MVP contenders considering his relative accomplishments. Hypothetically. But, as we all know, that best player does not get credit unless his team is amongst. Alas.
Man that was nasty robbery and Embid crying about it was embarrassing 😅 Jokic does not care about that at all, maybe Luka will be better this year, anyway Serbians are dominating basketball as usual:) 💪
For MVP, I like to factor in the advanced stats: In terms of win shares, it is SGA>Giannis>Luka In terms of PER, it is Giannis>SGA>Luka In terms of VORP, it is Luka>Giannis>SGA Of course, that is the race for 2nd because Jokic leads all of those categories by a wide margin. Jokic is a full point ahead in PER, has a 15% lead in win shares, and a 25% lead in VORP. Like, it isn't even close.
Jokic will win. Luka losing to 10th Seed GS was a bad look. He puts up great stats, Chet has had a lot to do with Shai winning, because last year they were nothing. I think Jokic has played great but the fact he is the best Player and the most Important/Valuable means a lot. Jamal has missed more than 20 games, yet they are the first Seed.
Jokic is most valusble because when he is on the floor the team is winning. When he is on the bench, they are losing. He is the tip of the spear, this is why he is most valuable!
no, they won't give it to tatum, tatum is just a big a no show in clutch moments as Embid. The league is pushing for a Luka mvp this year. The reason? they don't want Jokic to take home no.3, because that will start up goat talks. and once those talks start up people will notice jokic is CAREER leader in every advanced metric in the book, those same advanced metrics the spots bobbleheads have been pushing for to prove LBJ is deserving of goat talk, those same advance metrics LBJ has trailed jordan in his whole carreer, but jokic now leads in all of them. It ruins a 20 year narrative the league has tried to build around lebron about him being the GOAT. so they'll give it to Luka. I think they'd rather give it to Shay, but there isn't a credible argument you could make for him over luka or jokic. same for tatum. that's why it will be Luka the league will push hard for.
Just f*ing give it to Luka, please, so all of you mavs fans can go the way of embiid, have rdc world dunk on your team after a disappointing postseason, like the 6ers last year. Oh and the Lakers last year. Feed the fire, please. It's not about the regular season anymore, for some people.
Jokic must get they robbed him last year that shame they will never erase nobody was even close to him and they just bcs Embid was black and cry they give him,and I afraid this year maybe give to other black Shai even Doncic deserve much more if you wish to destroy Jokic at least give to second best Luka! I hope they will honour Jokic they don't need to honour but just keep for same principles why you steal him last year, last year was he was never win championship till he don't get ring he can't be MVP....so now same must be for Shai only next year he can win MVP and that's if this year get ring!!! Let's be fair what standard have for one must have for all or you all just liar's!!! And Shaq is biggest liar he was all season Big man Big man and now Black man Black man that show man character and who he is as a man! Biggest dude who is smallest in heart bcs Bryant take LA from him and win championships with him or without him and show what is true superstars and real player!
The ridiculous voice?? Are you kidding me? Beyond annoying and stopped watching within 5 seconds. I love Jokic and am a season ticket holder, but for my sanity sake, can’t listen.
@@jrwjrw4329 wrong. He does but don't want to put his accomplishments higher than his team's. After all he knows damn well that he is a nugget, and Nuggets are his untill this era ends.
Of course he does care about mvp, but he is a team player. That means he does everything possible for Nuggets to win and that's why he had to be mvp in 2023. This year is the same, if you ask him to choose being mvp or win the title again, I am sure title is priority.
The Celtics did a phenomenal job building the team, the whole starting 5 is an all-star level group. But saying Tatum is the mvp simply because of the team record would discredit 90% of the past mvps including the most recent one he was so high on, Joel Embiid.
But they can't they never have a ring!!! For same reason last year MVP was steal from Jokic last year nobody was even close to him nobody but they say you know can't be MVP till get ring so he get ring same is for Shai and Luka when they get ring then ok and continue play next year even better like Joker did this year! If they give to Shai it's only one thing MVP only for black and American that's this is all about after Jokic only Luka deserve MVP not Shai but Luka will never get it I think maybe if married black girl and make few kids
