I made a Pistoleer with the last story express pass event we got and I absolutely love it. In fact, so much so that I used the Soul Eater event thingy on it. Even though it is a spec class it has high uptime and incredible mobility. It is amazing at chaos dungeons as you don't even need a separate build for it. You only need to change one tripod to run them fast. It is my highest Ilvl class right now at 1596. And once you get used to the spacebar mechanic, it is pretty fluid to play. No regrets in making him.

nice video, i did watch your last video on SF. Soulfist is my main, and pistoleer is my second main alt XD i choose classes based on fun (for me personally), pistoleer has a low ceiling that's for sure, but keeping uptime is very easy, you'll find even as an average player you keep up or surpass most playing more complex classes as you are consistent! (Bit like shadow hunter) , easily one of the more fun classes to play, it is a chilled class to play as a pistoleer as there is no real rotation other than trying to make sure you judge / conviction procs. Pistoleer is also a great alt for cheap engraving setup, but gems can be costly as it used alot of damage gems.

I can only offer very specific critiques for EW since that's my main. I think EW has 1 major character specific flaw (not close shot) and 1 game design flaw that affects all weapon swap characters. The character specific flaw is that regardless of choosing spec/crit vs spec/swift (even with lvl 10 cd gems), shotgun downtime is always awkward and you will have difficulty making the most out of back attack openings because they might not line up with support buff uptime. When compared to all other full spec back attackers, EW has to cycle through close to if not the highest number of skills. While the animations of EW shotgun skills are faster than Peacemaker, you have to match it with back attack uptime. If an opening only gives you the opportunity to use 1 shotgun skill (either a ~19s or ~28s cd) but the next opening gives you the opportunity to use 2 skills, your cooldowns will be all over the place until we stop dps to do a mech. If you have feast+wine and/or atk speed syn or play spec/swift, it's ideal to use 2 skills minimum in every opening just to ensure you have some amount of burst available 20s later. This basically means you're always on the edge of either playing at the pace of a spec class or a swift class and it's entirely dictated by the fight. This leads into the game design flaw that weapon swap characters suffer (to varying degrees). If you want to push damage as well as keep cooldowns lined up, it's ideal to use as many skills as possible in as short a time as possible. This has extra layers of complexity when trying to line up with positional requirements and support buffs. As a back attacker, you rely on mobility skills to chase the back since this isn't a full swift class that can just walk. The sooner you get to the back, the more time you have to use skills. Ideally, you want to correctly guess who the boss will aggro on the next normal pattern so you can reach the back before the attack even starts. As a weapon swap class, EW has all of its mobility on pistol. As you may already know, the game allows you to queue up exactly 1 action/button near the end of your current attack so you can use it as soon as the game allows on the next tick. Swapping your weapon counts in that queue. What ends up happening is, at the end of a shotgun skill, you queue up a weapon swap but you cannot queue up a mobility skill at the same time. The weapon swap has to go through before you're allowed to then queue up the mobility skill. IIRC the game updates at 10 ticks/sec. You end up wasting ~0.2s (factoring in ping as well) after dps windows that any non weapon swap character doesn't have to deal with. Bosses move a lot these days and that wasted time causes you to overcommit more often than necessary just to keep up with cooldowns. As a side note, you can see the opposite effect on surge as you can activate 3 bubble before the game updates your meter after full stack surge.

I’ll have to say though the freedom of not having a set cycle is a positive imo fits my personal game style. The “close shot” variable is arguably more frustrating lol

@@808zsammy I'm only factoring in a set dps cycle because that would be the absolute highest damage over time. The close shot thing is hit or miss because different shotgun skills have different ranges for close shot. In the end, you can force it it work by overcommiting but that has it's own issues.

Hi there, I'm a EW main and this class is really well rounded. I hear a lot that the close shot tripod and having to chase ass is why the class is 'bad', but i disagree. If you think about it, in most raids, everyone regardless of positional are behind the boss's back and it makes sense as to why. The back is the safest so part of the argument of it being a ass chaser is why the class isn't good is flawed. The other argument, close shot tripod. The close shot tripod is in 3/4 of your shotgun skills. However, Judgement Day allows you to move during the skill and Shotgun Rapid Fire has a tripod option that allows you to cancel the skill whenever or gives you push immune on the third shot. I firmly believe the close shot tripod is only a issue if you are not familiar with the boss's normal patterns or you don't take advantage of the boss "cooldown" whenever it does a normal pattern(basically whenever a boss does a pattern, there is a slight delay where the boss does not queue another pattern and that is a opportunity window to get behind the boss and get a free skill or two off). Obviously, there will be times where the boss is crazy and you don't get that opportunity window but those windows exist 90% of the time. EW is also just a better gunslinger. the only advantage gunslinger has over deadeye is booba and that is literally it. If that isn't a issue for you then you're golden. Deadeye has better burst, stagger, and overall damage. That being said, I won't deny that EW deadeye is sweaty and may not be for everyone but that's what makes the class fun for me. Finally, if you just hate chasing ass and entropy but still want to play EW Deadeye, there is a option for EW Deadeye where you can go salvation instead of entropy and that'll make it so chasing ass isn't a requirement anymore and you can hit the boss from anywhere up close and you'll still pump out giant numbers. The ceiling won't obviously be the same as entropy but it'll still give entropy a run for its money for most players. Good luck!

Might have something to do with the fact that it's probably the squishiest class in the game and dies in 1 hit. Also has a pretty high ceiling.

Pistoleer main since launch , tried EW enjoyed the weapon swapping and even the back attacks wasnt really an issue as deadeye is very mobile , for me its the close shot tripods that either needs removing or changing , i play deadeye for the mid range gameplay and with EW you dont get that which sucks coz EW really can be fun

_EW main since launch. Personally I have a problem with Shotgun CD's while the pistol stance revives almost immediately for the group synergy. Sometimes it's quite awkward to not being to stagger the cubes in G3 Brel because of CDs so I have to rely on one sniper skill that provides higher stagger pretty much similar to Shotgun skills but it's not it. I don't consider myself a DPS goblin and MVP achiever, but I chose the class, because I like the style of the gameplay and the looks. It's fun and challenging for me and it's probably better that I've chosen this class without any previous information about rotation, skills etc. since that came with the progression and learning._

i main deadeye pisto since start of the game and yeah, loving the class but at start get jail not because of skill but just because of lost ark can't balance class like an ff14 or new world to avoid that kind of things . But the rework is way more fun if u like class that move a lot .

Although I just started playing this game, and the content is apparentely towards more experienced players, I've been enjoying watching them.

This was helpful.I wanted an 8th 1460+ character for chaos and guardians to feed gems and mats to my main so I made a Deadeye and powerpassed it. Chose it cuz I dont like playing Gunslinger or any of the other male gunners. So far I do find the gameplay satisfying but definitely isn't one I would want to main.

EW main and honestly it’s not bad, ever since they added the judgement day skill which allows you to walk and get close to the boss to follow up with SRF or SD. Personally I always use Last request last because it’s also a front attack skill, so if there’s a quick stand up. Last request would have to lowest percent loss of dps. If you also spam desperado while positioning yourself the rotation is pretty seamless. The sniper I only use if all SG is down or like it’s safer to use like G2 when she spins or g3 akkan with scythes and guillotines coming down. Overall though it’s an acquired taste I’m also at the point where I just want cooldowns cause the hands be handing😂

While I agree with your point about the classes you have mentioned in this series, I think you're forgetting a very big factor when it comes to popularity. Korean players don't normally have 6+ character rosters. They only get powerpasses when new classes come out, which is 2 per year. Soulfist, Sharpshooter and Deadeye (to mention a few) were clunky and complicated for a long time and nobody wanted to invest in them, even after they got a rework most people rather use their powerpasses on the new shiny class if at all. Thats Korea, which is were you're getting the data, but I bet you that if we had access to the same data from our Western version the numbers would be very different. Shadowhunter is at the bottom of the list for Korea for example, but for us it was one of the most popular classes for a very long time. When Aeromancer came out, the amount of people that made a Soulfist, Sharpshooter or Deadeye with that powerpass was huge because those classes had received buffs recently. I don't think you can take data samples from Korea and apply it to us, we are very different.

I dropped my EW when the rework hit, I hate the Day if Judgment skill, its painfully slow... If it was as snappy as SoA, I would be playing EW still. I personally like the 6 dmg skill build with 2 fillers way better, the utility you can get is more fun for me then 7m But I do not like the idea of playing a "inferior" build with 6 dmg + util, instead of 7m, but not having util made me hate playing it, so I dropped it... I miss the old playstyle because EW has immense SWAGGER so Im sad that I dropped it, but I can't force myself to enjoy it.

Pistoleer not credited enough here , althou his dmg is lowered compared to enhanced weapon , but he have 100% crit synergy uptime for the team to make up for it . I afraid video like this will increase the gatekeep for pistoleer since it always branded as no use and low dps class

Pistoleer isn’t necessarily low dps but you need near 100% uptime to be solid. Luckily, if you have 1 brain cell, that’s pretty achievable considering it’s one of the easiest classes in the game to hit the ceiling with. Compare it to a class like gunslinger and you will see it’s not that bad 😭. Most people rank it middle of the pack. Not too strong or too weak and a good one might be able to mvp here and there

the reasons for why this class is not pop are that the dmg on both of them actually suck and they are both very expensive to build im saying this wile having 3 deadeyes and im playing since launch, i played both EW and pistoleer (on all 3 DEs specially EW before rework since pistoleer was giga gatekept but i was turbo gapping ppl with EW,it was really good compare to all the other classes lowkey S tier back in brel era) i also had two sets of lv9 gems for them till i just ended up going for pistoleer after rework cuz it would be extremely expensive to play both with lv10 gems, i liked the old EW more tbh. the new one has a very long dmg cycle and a whack ass new skill which i dont like. also i dont get why ppl think EW has magically higher ceiling than pistoleer i guess some ppl care about raid that they over gear by 100 ilvls, if u want to talk about mvping and stuff it doesn't matter what spec u playing the more geared DE with better syn/sup will get the mvp, both of their trix dps is actually the same if u are fully juiced 9/7 with a good bracelet, but if u dont have those EW is around 10% stronger in trix, basically when u burst and boss doesn't phase u are not that much better than pistoleer assuming u have trix level of uptime so stop the cope. personally im tired of this class and even tho my main is 1620 with 40 set and my other deadeyes have akkan gear im planning to main swap. I would like to explain why trix dps matters for the ppl that say it doesn't however that takes a long time to explain, tldr of trix is that, if ur dpc is fat and the boss phases ur dps will be high even if ur not capable of maintaining a high dps hence why ppl defend EW a lot on farm content however in thaemine this dude will not phase with one cycle and its impossible to do more than ur trix so when ur trix is trash and the boss doesnt phase guess what ur class is also trash regardless of how good u are. Finally i want to say that compare to the raids DE is pretty good but compare to other classes he sucks which is an odd feeling cuz u feel strong but suck at the same, power creep is real.

i played deadeye as alt for fun. i like enhanced weapon like gunslinger, but the difficult part is deadeye being a slow class need to get to boss back and get to really close to start back attack with shotgun skills. deadeye is running worse set of movement skill as gunslinger and need to use addition synergy skill to apply synergy and the class demands much more on positioning. after play a while, i realized i need to chase boss back with a very slow class and not much movement options. sort of reminds me of shock scrapper. then i stopped playing deadeye. i like the concept, but the actual playstyle is worse. why play deadeye when u have gunslinger?

I think the thematic got dramatically overcomplicated for no reason, Deadeye is the Male counterpart to Gunslinger and Gunslinger is (besides supports) the most played class at 1600+ in korea, why? they do basically the same no? Female Model, hot skins, non positional attack. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Well gs use to me a meta class on top of that before she got gutted and forgotten 😭. Off of pure dmg and meta chasing. Dead eye would be the pick but as you said, bikini suits lmao

Pistoleer realy easy to play to point...its buring... EW...even after rework...feels bad,clunky and sniffing.Exacly sniffing.Cuz most of actual Melee classes have halve of mid range Ability or even long range to feel comfortable....and this not all. its BACK sniffing. Its all about 100% knowledg of ALL attack of ANY boss perfectly. And you must sniff back and manage CD of all skills.More over... Shot gun skills have a REALY LONG animations. EW have same problem as SF but...EW even after rework just a cripple. yes yes its second class what can do counter from back but...that all. Back in days Sharpshooter has same problem with Dead mark and melee range ( player must maintaint and stacking mark with MELEESKILLS to do a damage)but Devs solve this for Sharpshooter in rework. EW do not have solvation even after rework Only one class and engraving what play realy Melee . And its GUNNER,when every Melee classes have most of skills in range. So DeadEye is realy simple to became buring... or realy high celling and cripl ,slow,sniff (ACTUALY Melee) game play. That why almost no one play him.
