Why buy guitar when I could buy motorcycle? Or jet ski? Or metal alloys? (featuring John Browne & Mendel bij de Leij). Yamaha made the absolute pinnacle of acoustic guitars, as a matter of fact they led the pack back in the day with their 12 string line of dreadnaughts. @@anthonyorona8069 the first guitar I ever played on as a kid was a 80s Yamaha acoustic-electric my papaw left to my cousin. Thing had a neck like a baseball bat and the world’s highest action. I know revstars are getting popular right now, but it just seems like a social media push/hype thing imo. I will say that old acoustic/electric sounded good and was great for flat picking but chording it was a nightmare

@Augrills man, that sounds exactly like my first guitar. It made playing chords, and especially bar chords feel terrible. Like I was gonna slice my finger with how hard I had to push down, glad now guitars are starting to get better so others don't have to deal with that anymore 🤣🤣

@@AugrillsI do remember some of their acoustics from the 80s being utter dogshit, but that wasn't necessarily representative of their entire range, which is a shame because they did make some very fine high-end guitars at that time. I seem to remember some of their electric guitars being quite popular with jazz players in the 80s, and their bass guitars at that time were among the very best on the market. They always had something interesting on sale, and a lot of it was as good as anything else.

Yamaha’s Symbol is three tuning forks in a triangular pattern, signifying their roots in the musical instrument industry. Yamaha was founded in 1887, before Gibson, Fender and many other musical instrument manufacturers; however they were solely a maker of pianos and reed organs. After WWll, the company repurposed their machinery to manufacture motorcycles starting in 1955. Their first guitars were introduced to the market in 1966, both acoustic and electric, and as the clip says, they are highly underrated.

Proud owner of acoustic Yamaha fg-180 50th anniversary. Yamaha rocks! In terms of electric guitars Yamaha is some kind of a underdog in the world of A-class brands electric guitars. Maybe for some reason it's even good. Their acoustic guitars (even cheaper ones) are legendary, they definitely have their own beauty and mojo. I wish this company endless thriving and succes without compromising in qualty.

I mean I don’t see what about that warranted the crying/laughing emoji..but since you want to be a cockwomble about it, it’s probably because people see Yamaha on motor vehicles like dirt bikes, etc. people don’t see Yamaha guitars as much. I would bet money that most people today associate Yamaha with gasoline powered vehicles rather than musical instruments these days. It is pretty stupid to assume that someone should know the origin of a company for some reason. It’s like laughing at someone for not knowing that Ferdinand Porsche created the first gasoline electric hybrid vehicle and going LOL NOOB! Or laughing at a British person for not knowing what a Cadillac is. I think you look pretty dumb thinking that it should be common knowledge. If you google Yamaha, motorcycles will show up in the results before musical instruments.

Actually after listening to it again, you sound like more of a dipshit than the first time. He never claimed he didn’t know that…he said something like “if you didn’t know, you do now” and went on about how it’s an underrated guitar. How did you come up with such a stupid assumption? Because he said why buy a guitar from a company that makes boat engines? That usually comes with the implication “jack of all trades, master of none” (Insert laughing emoji at shit attempt to seem witty)

My experiences with yamaha electrics going back to the 90's is that they were heavy and didn't seem balance very well. They were always headstock heavy and you had to literally hold the neck up in addition to trying to play it. Maybe it got better but that definitely was once an issue.

As a pro piano player and music teacher, i can say that our friends from Japan make quality instruments. Their pianos play beautifully so do their percussion, brass, and woodwinds. Their quality is always solid. I have a yamaha steel string and a yamaha nylon string and they are SOLID. My school also bought 25 3/4 sized nylong string guitars made by yamaha. All my students learn on a yamaha. Now, do I prefer a yamaha over a steinway or bösendorfer? Hell no. But anyone with a yamaha piano has a beautiful and practical instrument.

They make good keyboards. I have an entry level keyboard that has realistic grand piano sound to it and I love it. The transpose goes a full octave up and a full octave down. I love the downtune stuff so I love to play the lower end. That was way back in the 90s. So to me I look at it the opposite way. A music company that makes boats and motorcycles? Hmmm 🤔.
