Your audience came from reactions so when you started gaming and stopped reactions your fans who loved the reactions left. Now you have to build a gaming channel from the ground up which is very hard so I wish you luck. Maybe you could do a mix of reactions and gaming to get a bigger audience
With all due respect, it's nothing personal. The reason I used to watch you was because you are a great reaction channel. For me, when you aren't reacting to a video I want to watch reactions for, I have no need to watch you. It says nothing about you as a person, and I am sure you gain fans outside of your reactions because I can see the work you put into everything you do. Sadly, just because I like/respect someone as a creator and person does not mean I automatically enjoy their content/style of videos. But I like the transparency, and this topic is something I have been very aware of and wondered about when I watch smaller reaction channels. Reaction channels build their fandoms from other fandoms, it's rare for them to get a loyal fanbase. Not impossible, but rare. But the fact that you get hundred of views on your personalized videos that has nothing to do with other creators/famous people, it's actually incredible. Just imagine, 900+ people, real-life people with their own lives and individual interests, decided you were worth their time. It's something to be proud of! Keep doing what you want, that way each view means so much more even if the amount fluctuates. I will root for you!

It is not you are bad, you are awesome. What most of us came for originally was reactions. Now that you have changed videos some of is do not need or want to watch.

I’m not sure if this is a common thing or just me, but I mainly like to watch games that I know about. For example, I loved your Multiversus video because that’s a game that I enjoy. I think perhaps if you mixed playing games that are popular and games that you want to play you might see better results. I’m not a RU-vidr so I’m not sure, but that might help a bit And I think you have every right to have this video up because it isn’t you complaining, but asking your viewers for advice to help make the content they watch better. Hi Nate, I gotta say I think the main issue with this is that you played a game NOBODY expected you to play and thought "ok this is uhhh, a thing" and I think you would be better of playing something like Minecraft dungeons, you seem to really like it and it's more well known, wish you the best my guy!

I want to be honest because I’m sure that’s what you’d want. I definitely miss the reaction videos. I’ve always felt like reactors reflect the community as a whole and watching them feels like getting to experience my favorite videos again for the first time for me. It also feels like I get to watch someone that enjoys the same things I do. I definitely like you as a person too though so I stayed subscribed and will watch you in the future if the game you are playing is one I am interested in but I will miss the reactions for sure. That being said I think the most important thing is that you enjoy what you do. Do that and the audience will follow.
Nate, I love your content even if I don't have time to watch it anymore. School has really been a pain for me lately but I still enjoy your videos even if some people don't! People need to learn how to appreciate your content because you really are underrated. NO matter what, you'll always be one of my favorite youtubers and the community is one of the nicest I have seen. I will never forget about you because you made my days when they were honestly trash. The people in the premiere chat were (or still are) nice to others. Maybe you can try and balance your content between short and long videos? Also, you could try adding tags related to your video in your description because I've seen it work with many content creators (One example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b9GNDkIVuI4.html ) I know some people don't like watching super long videos, so if you could, or if you have enough time, try editing them to be shorter? can't compare reaction content to other types. reactions borrow the fan base of whatever is being reacted to. so don't be disheartened if your other content don't hit. do what you enjoy.

I'm just going to say that the last time I received a notification for one of your videos was your serious talk a couple weeks ago, and before that your second video on JiDion vs. Tommyinnit. I really had no idea that you posted any other videos since then. I will say, though, that as a viewer, I rarely watch gaming videos by a creator if I'm not already interested in the game. For example- one of my favorite youtubers back in 2017 was H2ODelirious. He started making Fortnite videos a little while before Fortnite really blew up and became everywhere. However, even when he first made the switch, I tried out his Fortnite videos, didn't like the game, and so didn't watch any more of his Fortnite videos because I didn't enjoy watching them. This same effect is the reason why I probably wouldn't watch most of your recent gaming videos, and it has absolutely nothing to with your personality and comedy.
It's been very interesting to hear your thoughts, man. TBH, I didn't watch the video myself- I saw it in my notifs and looked past it because it was a cooking game I'd never heard of and by personal preference, cooking games aren't really my thing. I think it's true what everyone in the comments is saying about reaction views- people who came here looking for reactions are leaving because they're not coming out anymore. I myself subscribed originally because you reaction to CG5 on a regular basis! But I stuck around because you're a super cool person and your other content was interesting too. I think this drop in viewers does make sense. You're essentially starting yourself over and you now have to gain followers based on a different fanbase and stuff!! Don't be discouraged, it's just phase.
i think the thing to keep in mind is that by changing your content so drastically, you're effectively starting over. people subbed for reaction content, but when you switched they didn't necessarily unsub even though they might not want to watch what you put out. its super discouraging ): but just keep that in mind so it doesn't keep you down. it's a new start, and you can do it!
Look No matter what content you do, some people will stick around for YOU. Put out content you want, you will STILL get an audience, and this audience will support you no matter what. Others will come, go, stay, whichever. Just do what YOU want, what makes you happy. That's what matters.

Was with you in the beginning when you were a reaction channel, focusing on older classic rock type stuff. When you got heavy into the thrash stuff I kinda bowed out. Not a style of music I love particularly. I still check in from time to time to see what your up to and hope you have success and am always glad to see that your making content you want.

Been a huge fan of you for a while, at least a full year now. Fully support you! do what you think is best. Also, especially when doing RU-vid, it can be hard to find content that your fans will watch and how to beat the algorithm, very annoying! A video could do SOOO good then the next doesn't get as many views. I would recommend looking at one of your videos seeing what went well, where did people click off, and how could you improve on it. I love your videos Nate, even the newer original content, well...the stuff RU-vid decided to recommend to me at least. I don't know much about the RU-vid algorithm, but I do know it can suck a lot. Especially when you're switching the kind of content your making from the type of videos you were making before. All I know is that I am going to keep trying to support your content when I see it (if you decide you want to keep making content), because I genuinely enjoy your content and I know that you put a lot of effort into it. My only advice is keep trying to make the content that you like to make, eventually you'll find the right audience. Currently the audience who was here before only for your reaction content is starting to realize you're moving on to a new type of content, I'm sure that once those people clear out (not trying to be rude...) you'll gain traction again once RU-vid starts to realize who actually wants to see your new type of content. Genuinely. I like your content a lot. I watch your videos when I can, and I will be honest, I don't always watch all of your gaming videos. But I also didn't watch all of your reactions either. I watch when I can, and I enjoy the content regardless of what it is because I enjoy watching YOU. I'll be honest, I found this channel via reactions. and kinda poke around now and again hoping to see reactions to other things I'm interested in. Things Like the Hellava Boss stuff or Something I've not seen you do like The Stupendium, (they do original music based on games) but watching someone else play a game just isn't my thing. I play a few games like Destiny 2, that I will watch lore videos or build vids on but in all honesty I don't want to watch someone else play something, I'd rather just play it my self. RU-vid relaxation for me is watching people discover things that I love and the excitement, awe, and/or emotion those things invoke in others, I tend to routinely search for just reactions to my favorite things.
Here's a tip I learned from watching Mighty Teapot, the GW2 streamer/youtuber: IF YOU PUT a highlight of one of your favorite moments of the video BEFORE the intro, people are more willing to watch more just to gain context. On the specific video mentioned here, you might want to go with the highlight at 6mins:42secs since it seems more on brand while being on topic, but I'm no expert. That's just my personal opinion. This is especially useful if you have a long intro. The important part is knowing how to clip the highlight in order to make someone desire context.

It's also people who find different content that they seem to enjoy. (Let me show and example):dream SMP it was (this very mush is) really well beloved on the reaction and Minecraft community, but- sometimes people move on from that and try new content (maybe for examples): TheDoo, or GTA related content, or anything custom. like sewing, machinery, or wood carving, and stuff that relate to theories. It's not that people stopped watching because of your reaction videos. It's based on the content videos that your (or we want you) reacting too. This was a reassuring video to make sure to keep and eye on stuff like this! Good vid.
I went and looked back on the food truck video, I was there for the premiere and thought it was great, but looking at it from a youtube standpoint, it's good that you started with some chaos, by having some clips at the beginning, there may not have been enough action at the beginning, though I. and many others did enjoy that video, for more views you may want to make the video a little shorter, and have a faster start after the intro, and the intro was a bit long, I see a lot of youtubers with cuts in their videos just to jump into action, not saying you need to overly edit things, but that's what I see drags in views, it also may be a matter of game popularity, the algorithm tends to recommend videos about more popular things or games, like Spider-Man because that video did better view wise, I love it when people play what they want, but not all people do, just some observations, I'd say keep at it, you're an amazing person, and a lot of people just haven't realized it yet :)

Honest feedback- I confess i'm one of the people who clicked off at around 2 min. mark on last video, but it wasnt without a reason. So when i saw the title and thumbnail of that video, i thought wow Nate is starting new type of content in a crazy way, i thought title meant MAKING PERFECT DISHES in a Food truck IRL. I thought nate went all in and is doing a cooking IRL video in some food truck with more twists. So i immediately clicked in and started watching. Within 2 min. i realized its a video of a cooking game that i never have even heard of before. I personally have never seen gaming videos from you ,but would love to see you play some of the trending games/popular games. My recomendation would be start with some popular games that people love and then branching of into some lesser popular games. (Also nothing here was personal or anything, i thought my perosnal experience may help you in some wat or another
O.G Nate Alien in the house. I definitely miss the metal reactions by a hip hop head vids, but I know there were restrictions put in place over the years. I guess the particular games you're playing just aren't games I'm into. I'm old, so of course I like Atari/ Nintendo/ Super Nintendo type games but that's just my taste. I was always a HUGE fan of your reactions, you put so much genuine emotion and overall interest into everything you’d react to, however, I heavily believe that the content you put out should be the content you enjoy, this is your channel, those who are interested will follow and others will move on but no matter what, I feel what truly matters is the dedication you put into your community and the enjoyment that comes with doing what you want to, no matter what it’s obvious these is a loyal fanbase here and that’s always a good sign!

Honestly when it comes to that video, i think it just comes down to the game, or at least how much of the game you showed in the first 2 mins, the longer i gave that video a chance, the more interesting it got, and the more i wanted more. Some people just dont have the attention span to wait long enough for you to get into the action.

I haven't seen your videos in my subscriptions feed in awhile, in fact a lot of channels haven't been popping up in there. I have to remember to check channels. Also the phone app automatically plays videos if you stop scrolling for a sec, so I often see the first seconds of videos while scrolling just because I paused for a moment. I hate that the app does that. It always worries me that the video might get false watch time of a few second, even though I didn't click on the video.

To be completely honest, I subscribed for the reactions. I don't really watch gaming videos anymore, no matter who it is. I completely support you, and for example, hot sauce beats and yobgs wanting to make original content. I am still subscribed to all 3 channels, because I've been with you guys for years now. But everyone suddenly quitting reactions, especially to the creators they used to LOVE, did disappoint me. Yall completely changed your content, of course your audience is gonna change. You are basically building your channel from the start.
I love your vids but have not had time to watch them recently b/c of school starting. I started at a new school that is also an ib school I have to walk home then do the massive amount of homework they give me by the time im done I am burnt out and I just read fanfiction for the rest of the little time to relax. hopefully soon ill get more time to watch your vids im sry I have not had time to watch them.
something I noticed is I’m a lot less likely to watch a video if it comes out late, especially if I wake up to the notif. I have a direct comparison to your old upload time that really worked for me. Obviously you can’t cater to everyone, but that’s a reason for me :) also about that specific video you talked about , personally it wasn’t anything to do with the video, more that I had no interest in the game, for me the game was very overstimulating and low-key gave me a headache
