Brandon Ingram was in trade rumors but the deal never happened. He’s still in New Orleans which is a problem for him and the team. This is a look at why BI’s reputation has taken a hit on the court and what his future looks like.
It's repetitive but it's true. Teams don't want to be operationally handicapped such that contenders like Denver have just let KCP walk just because they don't want to enter the second apron.
Wow! The BI public perception drop off is crazy. During his time with the Pelicans, he has: - 47% overall shooting - 37% on 3s with 4.8 average attempts - 84% on free-throws - 23 ppg. - 5.2 apg
@@GemDroppaAnonymous exactly no body pays attention he like Melo needs the ball slows game down play fast beat him easy might be efficient but his game style is kinda 2005-2012
@@gbabymusic6440 Brandon Ingram has become is injury prone early in his career, so it's a fair comparison. Even if their the same age, the career trajectory (duration wise) isn't close.
Bro only cares ab ball that’s why. We need sped class content creators like this to make him available for teams because his value is so high. This guy knows nothing
@@2genders-tk2uewhat are you talking about.. BI is the most cluth person on the pels. I have seen him hit at least 8 huge buckets for them down the stretch.
@2genders-tk2ue before this last season he was neck and neck with deaaron fox in 4th quarter ppg fg% efficiency and actually shot a higher % in the 4th. To say he just isn't clutch isn't correct. He had a off year
@ER1CNOIR our center situation is a glaring issue. All the teams well need to beat in the west have upper tier bigs / post players. Denver. Sacramento . Okc. Minnesota etc. If we don't do something at center we in big trouble
Not feeling the title of this video. Most teams would love to have BI on their team. There are 2 issues in my opinion. His health, and he is up for a new contract next year. He's gonna want max dollars and it seems no one is going to want to pay him that with his injury history.
Someone will trade for him this happens every off season if the trade deadline is where teams are the most thirsty for either a play in spot or a playoff run assets to help them, the off season is when the post-nut clarity hits right now everything is cumbaya and chill until the war to get Cooper starts in january.
Dorks wanna complain that there's no defense in the NBA then those same dorks turn around and complain when their favorite player gets clamped. Dort played fine quality defense on Ingram and he just couldn't be effective without Zion on the court.
NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE LAKERS. Get that through your thick ass skulls. It's a clown show. Hell, besides Lebron, & AD...who are the rest of those random Europeans & Nigerians that they even have on their garbage roster?
Last year CJ was coming off injury. Things are different now. Do you think his own ego would allow him to come off the bench when he’s healthy? (For the record, I do believe Dejounte + Herb are better starting).
@@scaryfeministlady371To be fair my man, since they got Murray who is a good defender and a ball handler, Herb will probably be put on the bench. He'll play heavy minutes tho even in the 4th.
3 types of players teams want, 1.rookie/young player with superstar potential 2. Superstar that’s capable of carrying a team to win or sell tickets. 3.role players that’s one of the best at what they do, unfortunately BI is neither of the 3
6:41 "Those types of maxes are gone" - Wagner was signed for 220 max contract, the dude with no All-star selections, all-NBA selections getting paid like Luka, and more than Steph Curry. They are not gone
I'll wait for the actual season to see what happens. All these professional hot takers on RU-vid were very wrong about Zion not resigning and how they somehow KNOW the Pelicans don't want Ingram 1 year after signing a huge 5 years deal.
they dont even listen to what david griffin said out his own mouth apparently, and during dejounte murrays press conference griff and willie kept referencing dejountes fit with Zion, Ingram , CJ and herb lol
As a lifelong hoops fan, I really appreciate the way you broke down this information. The backend "pause" part of this game is very complex and you deliver the info to where it brings that complex part to laymen terms.
Idk I feel like Ingram can be a number 2 or 3 option on a championship team I still believe he would get a max when he is a free agent just watch and see
Man I actually agree for once haha. I always felt like Ingram and Lavine were on similar trajectories. Didn't consider alternative outcomes. The Aaron Gordon comparison is a good one for both those guys. Still a ton of upside and potential. Love to see Ingram ball out, but I'm gonna need Allen to stay in Cleveland lol. ✌️
NBA needs to take a page from the NFL where the "guarantee" money is less than the contract if a player is cut/waived or whatever it is called. B.I. is better on a team where he is the 2nd or 3rd option.
@@James_follows_Christ Putting down players for a video click is shameful and disrespectful. A.M. Hoops is doing the same thing that Stephen A does and it's sad because I like his videos
@@warispeaceignoranceisstren704 yea it’s ok to disagree with someone or have an opinion depending what’s being talked about without purposely being a jerk.
As a pelican fan my problem with Ingram is that he would always miss clutch shots. Everytime i watched him take a game winner or a clutch shot he missed.
This is a terrible take as before this year he was on par with deaaron fox with clutch scoring, and deaaron is considered one of the most clutch players in the league.
B.I still B.I man look i dont care what happen he is the most prolific and consistant scorer of the New Orleans squad It aint fair specially when Z been out time and time again and mostly when it matters most just like Kwahi It aint fair for B.I even he had a bad ending past season
Watching the fall of Brandon Ingram has been painful. It seems like its better to not make the playoffs or play FIBA than to get utterly destroyed and embarrassed on the big stage. I always like him. He carried the Pels when Zion was injured. Seemed like the ideal teammate, but it's hard to see guy comming back from this. Only winning a few playoff series as the main guy is going to erase this.
oh so the lost during Thunder match up is his fault? dont forget he sped up his recovery to just play in that series !!! people too undervalue him just bcs he had a bad year.. wheres everyone when he had good one? 🤷🏾
Yes.Before his injury had very good year.21 point because less FGA,he shoot good effencient, career high 5,8 ast,and play career best defense.in PO definitely wasn’t healthy…
Thank you for explaining more into the new CBA. Now I understand what its pointing to which is what I've been telling people since 2021. Teams are going to have to be smart about who they sign and not giving max contract like i's candy. 24 pts per game is not worth a max anymore. That's the average of an efficient second option. Tmax contracts are going to be worth more which will show who deserves it and who doesn't
@@dolphinitely_bro3944 You're crazy ngl look at the Pels, they're basically the old Lakers without LeBron and AD, how far were they from being a contender even with Zion Cj? 🤣
@@pauljoseph3081 zion is bron bro, zion is whats hurting the flow of that team. You cant just have a big guy who runs down the paint and dunks and doesnt play defense. I see the pels comparison to the lakers of that day, but really check out the few years after being traded, randal, ingram, russel, all did very well. I would have watched them devolp than earn that sad bubble chip
When you pay max for a star with no leadership skills, don't expect those skills just to show up one day, Pelicans. Even Kevin Durant never developed those. BI plays without passion, but the Pels have Zion, right? Right. He proved once again, although later in the season, that he cannot deal with injuries. His weight is not getting any better. Now they have a point guard who is on his third team. Still have no super stars, no leader on the floor, and they play out West. Ouch. We were all so eager to see Zion grow, but this has gone on for long enough. He has never been in shape after signing that first rookie contract. Good for him. He's won in life, but what a disappointment to miss out on what could have been.
@JohnnytNatural they always pick the wrong guy??? herb jones was a 2nd round pick, trey murphy was picked outside the lottery and you're ignoring how zion had his best year this year and bi came from the the ad trade where they absolutely fleeced the lakers what should they have asked for instead??
Durant definitely developed his leadership skills. Revisionist history can be very misleading. Durant has proven his leadership skills, leading OKC to 50 wins and the 2 seed out West with no Westbrook for around 60 games. Since then, his leadership in Brooklyn was great and that team looked scary good when healthy. Problem is, they were either not healthy, Kyrie was forced to sit for big stretches of the season for bogus reasons hurting their playoff seeding and chemistry and of course Harden being a complete space cadet. Now he's simply on the decline athletically. A decline accelerated by his acl injury which probably not NBA player has come back from to look even 80% as great as he did with that finished athleticism. Klay, for instance, went from all to barely starting quality. KD was a legit leader. The rest, you may have a solid point on.
@JohnnytNatural so herb jones was a wrong pick, trey murphy was a wrong pick, dyson daniels was a wrong pick, and again should they have not asked for brandon ingram in the ad trade?? lol ignored every other point idc about arguing over zion it's not worth it (watch jj's point zion video if you actually want to know about how zion is developing his game) but explain how those other draft picks were the wrong guy
@@J-Hue 😆😆😆developed his leadership skills ridin steph dik huuh lmao 🤣 stopppp soooo why he ain’t never won nothin since he left steph then (since he developed all these leadership skills) smh 🤦 stop while u ahead my guy
He’s a taller Derozan, a prolific scorer but from the wrong places, making him inefficient. Any team building around a volume mid range scorer isn’t going anywhere.
B.I HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND WILL ALWAYS BE UNDERRATED AND ONLY THE PEOPLE WHO WATCH HIM KNOWS HOW TUFF HE ACTUALLY IS AND HOW GOOD HE IS AS A PLAYER, I'VE BEEN WATCHING THE GUY SINCE HIS DUKE DAYS AND I CAN'T ACCEPT ALL THIS DISRESPECT FOR HIM.
😂 “max” contract doesn’t even mean much anymore, years of service, accolades, games played… all that stuff effects players money. Luka’s Max is probably 20 mil more than BI’s Max… Really tho, if 25 a year ain’t enough for BI… duces!
His health is the reason why people are looking at him. When B.I is healthy he is a top 25 player in the league. Regardless Ingram would be good with Nuggets.
He’s not that guy, 20, 5, 5 guy who doesn’t push the needle for a contending team, he can’t shoot 3’s so he has to humble himself and take a Derozan deal
@@jaydenalvizio5908 he doesn’t take many of them, pelicans want to improve their spacing, he couldn’t perform well on team U.S.A. because he has to create a midrange shot 9/10 times, best team for him for awhile was Portland but they went cheaper and got Advija
Why comments always be hating on Casey? It’s y’all new subscribers, take your hate somewhere else cause Casey makes high quality informative entertaining consistent content.(lowkey sound like a burner but y’all annoying)
All I know as a Pelicans fan, either Brandon Ingram or CJ McCollum or both has to leave the team. I'm sorry but you just have to make room for Trey Murphy to be in the starting lineup and setup his future contract. If do decide to keep B.I., then CJ has to go and vice versa Or...... Keep everyone on the team, let Ingram walk at the end of the season, and make the NBA pay for not willing to accept a trade from the Pelicans, and allow the Pelicans to have a starting lineup like this: G- Dejounte Murray G- Brandon Ingram SF-Herb Jones PF- Zion Williamson C- Y.Messi (Rookie) Bench 6th Man #1- C.J. McCollum (G) 6th Man #2- Trey Murphy (F/G) Role player#1-Jose Alvarado (PG) Role player #2- Jordan Hawkins (G/F) Prospect- Antonio Reeves (Rookie) (F/G) 11- Daniel Thesis C/F) 12- Jeremiah Robertson-Earl (F-C) Reserves 13-Matt Ryan (F/G) 14- Opened slot 15- Opened slot Note: I'm not counting two-way players.
I think BI is just in a crappy situation in New Orleans. That organization has hitched its wagon to Zion, and I don’t think it will work out. Ingram should take what he can get and move on.
The new cba is good for the nba. Specially if the teams can use this as leverage against greedy agents. So many players are over paid and under worked. Being paid a ton of money just to throw bricks or warm the bench.😅
BI reminds me of Michael Beasley - insane potential and everyone thought he'd be a superstar in the league and somehow it never worked out. BI was supposed to be KD 2.0 and it never happened.
He is close to being kd 2.0 the dude is still insane in the league and this season the pelicans were kind of like the black horse of the playoffs, unfortunately they didn't make it
Michael Beasley just couldn’t stay outta his own way to be fair, guy was nice though.. but the whole bi being the next kd thing was more of a draft comparison.. how many guys get comparisons they never live up to? I mean he’s in the league lol … being the next kd ain’t something easy to do
@@miraikami8717 If Kobe came back to life and lost 19 straight games in the finals, HE WOULD STILL HAVE A BETTER FINALS RECORD THAN LeHairline. Let that sink in.
As a NC native myself just like Ingram, I feel bad for him. I believe he still has it in him; he’ll possibly have a well needed comeback with his game.
The issue could be simple. BI just has to let teams know he's fine with 35-40M/yr and he'll have a host of teams wanting him. He's not a max player. His ppg is in line with a max player, but like I. Thomas (formerly Boston) that number just doesn't mean anything by itself. And if BI would like to change that perspective, he should sign something like a 2yr - 80M deal, play defense like he's never done before, embrace the heck out of whatever city he's in and never act like he's looking to get out, and whenever the 2yr deal is over he'll get a max contract. Simple.
EPM ranks him at #60 with +2.1. DPM at 1.98 with rk in mid 40's. Scoring has been league average past couple years & manages the ball well enough. Is there any analysis on EFF as being predictive of winning?
@@aaronpeters6209 Ingram has a little bit old school game...Maybe a different coach will make him a passer...He could be a great play-maker,but he plays like a point-guard ! And to be " efficient" point guard he actually needs to guard ! Basically whatever good he makes on offense ,he ruins it on defense ;and if his offense is not clicking he is unplayable ...
Thanks. I was wondering why he wasn't talked about much at all. I felt like he was best available. 2nd and even 3rd option money would be great for a player I think desire to be considered a 1. It's expect him to bet on himself and expect to win IF their dysfunctional team stays healthy.
He is holding himself back. He is a pothead.of course they won’t say it but go watch his interviews and he is always high. He is naturally good but he could be great if he could focus.
Won't find a bigger advocate for weed, than myself. That being said, you can creep up behind BI, and blind him with dental floss. Some players, like Bill Walton, needed it to play through anxiety. There's levels to it, and BI takes it too far. Off the court, who cares. Stoned stupid on the court, and there's an issue. Hate to admit it, but you're not wrong.
Lol first of you dont know this. Second off you know who he smokes and admits. Kevin Durant. Plently of player smoke most teams would rather that than drinking alcohol.
@@gobot581 dude go watch interviews . He is blowed in most of them. Weed affects everyone differently. I know plenty of people who smoke who are fine but a lot who are not but claim to be the other.
Teams are finally smartening up and avoiding these lazy ass all stars that are more worried about looking cool on the court, than winning. He’s so much better than what he’s given us. *us = basketball fans
the pelicans front office was in love with brandon ingram's work ethic and personality 22-23 season when zion got injured again lol stop talking out of your ass
If he is the fourth best player you have a great team. If he is the third best player you have a good team. If he is the best or second best you better have a very versatile group of players and a deep bench.
