The Geography of Wyoming makes it a very unique place in itself. The entire state is divided into flat
grassy lands and the rocky mountains. This creates split climate conditions in the state which makes it windier than the rest of the neighboring states.
Wyoming is however the largest coal producing state in the whole US and also have other important
natural resources.
Wyoming is the 10th largest state in the U.S. yet it lacks dense population.
In this episode we have covered some of the core reasons for Wyoming being so empty.

The coolest thing about Wyoming is how empty it is. It is a state for people who love isolation, small communities, and rugged nature. @@Hibuy- the cities in Wyoming support the ranchers, mineral, oil, and natural gas industries. Wyoming actually had loads of potential job and economic development. The problem is that there’s a lot regulation on the federal level that blocks it. Wyoming has a abundance of minerals, oil, natural gas, rare earth mineral, uranium, etc. For example, around Thermopolis and Worland, there’s large amounts of titanium. It’s currently being surveyed. I mean, both are necessary and have existed since forever. Some people love cities, and the more compact and less sprawling a city, the less economic impact it has and the less it affects natural areas which could be used for parks, reservoirs, etc. But at the same time, some people love rural, quiet life, and the more people live in cities, the more space they'll have to farm, or explore their surroundings. It makes sense to simply tell people to do as they wish and let the free market act upon that.
@dennisspqr
@dennisspqr Год назад
@@Corredor1230 letting the free market simply act sounds just terrifying in 2023 after decades of unhinged neoliberalism. So no thanks. Markets want to make money, more money is made by exploitation than protecting. So it needs laws and governments to protect, not markets to exploit.

@@dennisspqr regulations will always be necessary. I guess life in Wyoming must feel absolutely, genuinely, 100% different from where I live (Germany). I just asked ChatGPT about the population density of both: Population Density: * Wyoming has a population density of approximately 2.4 people per square kilometer (6.2 people per square mile). * Germany has a population density of approximately 236 people per square kilometer (611 people per square mile). So, basically Germany has nearly 100 times as many people per square kilometer as Wyoming. So what is "rural" to us would probably be considered to still be an urban lifestyle by most Wyoming residents. For example, I live in a small village (3947 people) in the middle of Hesse, Germany, but there are literally four different towns that I can reach with my car in 20 minutes or less. Next McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Aldi and Lidl? Less then 10 minutes. Fiber based Internet? Available in every building. International airport with direct flights to tons of countries? Less than one hour away. Large open plains and tons of wilderness? Don't know, probably a few hours away. Pretty hard to find ...

Millions of acres that include dense forests, rugged mountain ranges, and dry deserts. Look at the size of Montana, a greater land area than Germany, and its population comes in bottom 2nd with 1.1 million people. The vastness of the American interior can't be understated and it's worth seeing for yourself

Some parts are absolutely glorious, and other parts are desolate on a grand scale. Wyoming is an expensive place to live, and it’s anti-competitive … Wyoming natives do not like outsiders. Period 3 of the 10 largest coal mines on the planet are in Campbell County Wyoming. Hate to break the bad news to coal lovers but energy companies don’t need thousands of miners to go underground with pick axes and extract coal. A couple hundred people tops work in open pit coal mines.

Just gonna go ahead and say that whoever wrote this piece must have never been to or heard of Jackson. Jackson is the nation's wealthiest area...the average per capita income in Teton County is the highest in the nation at around 320,000$. The attraction of the Tetons, Yellowstone, Jxn hole ski area, an international Airport, and the town of Jackson itself has made it honestly the absolute hardest place to find a place to live in the country. The amount of people searching for a home in the valley grows daily. Just for fun...go look at the zillow listings for Teton County. So ....I can't say no one wants to move to Wyoming.

I would say that with the decline in coal production, the economy there will not be all that good anytime soon. I’ve visited friends there, and one thing I’ve noticed is that in addition to owning land, the feds provide a lot of subsidized infrastructure, roads, power lines, and the big parks provide most of the tourists to the economy, at no cost to the local population. The government ended up with a lot of land in this country, because nobody wanted it.

Developing urban areas to attract jobs and newcomers isn't progress. The 1.6% of new residents that have moved here to Montana have blown real-estate prices skyhigh and just added to traffic and over capacity schools. Leave us alone, we are happy with our brutal weather, dirt roads and lack of crime. I live in a town of 800 in Western Montana with no mail delivery, no trash pickup and the nearest Walmart or Costco is a 130 mile round trip. This is a urban and developed as I ever want it to be.

The title of this video is Nobody want to Live Here! Well.... I do! I love living in Wyoming. I spent time living in Utah and Iowa. Both are nice places but I was excited to get back to Wyoming. It is true that winters can be rough, there is a lot of wind in some places, and there are no sky scraper skylines. These are the things that discourage people from wanting to move here, and that is why these things are my favorite parts of the state. I love that I can drive out of town into the hills and know that I won't see another person anywhere. From my home I have easy access to (meaning literally 2 miles from my home) irrigated farm land, river bottom, desert, and in 45 minutes can be on the top of the mountain range at 9000 feet. If you start in the town where I live and drive south for 150 miles you will pass through exactly 5 towns all of which have populations less than 5000 people. We have more cattle than people and more deer than people. I love it!

Most of Western Montana is on the windward side of the divide. Also, the wind speed is higher on the leeward side of the continental divide. It is cold and windy for about six months of the year. The people are kinda different too, very religious and republican, not always welcoming to outsiders. In some communities, you will stand out if you're not from the area. Cultural development seems to be at a stand still aside from what occurs in peoples daily lives. Lots of poverty stricken Native territories too.
