Thank you for sharing my home county, which I miss so much and love when i come home to visit. So sad that the Sycamore gap tree was cut down. so many school trips to that spot. I would personally add High Force waterfall. and the village Swinhoe (named after me) :) i would also recommend beadnell bay, seahouses and St Cuthbert chapel
Nice footage. We were in Northumberland last week on holiday. If you decide to do a top 10, I’d add Kielder Forest, Alnwick Castle and town, Berwick upon Tweed, Kirk Yetholm with a walk up to The Cheviot and Coldstream. With the last two it’s fun walking across the border into Scotland.
Visited Bamburgh castle and holy island 3yrs in a row got the bus from Glasgow on a £20return the best part of bamburgh apart of castle is standing on the beach watching and listening to the roaring sea amazing plus holy island very quiet and spiritual the best £20spent on a day trip ever
An old favourite of mine I'd recommend is Ingram Valley, a wonderful place for walks nestled in the Cheviot Hills, first swam in the pool beneath the Linhope Spout waterfall over 50 years ago now. To be completely honest though you can pretty much pick any random spot in Northumberland and be immersed in fantastic scenery and history, you can't really go wrong.
Alnwick Castle and gardens, used in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and more. Cragside and gardens (National Trust). The first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectric power. Wallington Hall and walled garden (Nat. Trust). Plus all the beautiful landscapes and coastline of Northumberland. All so tranquil.
I live in the north east, all be it the council estates aren't that pleasing but the landscapes are amazing. I'm going up to Berwick in the back end of October, can't wait.
Honestly, the most beautiful area we have traveled to in the UK . Booked for 2wks next May and we will do Farne Islands . Didn't have time this yr. Locals lovely, and friendly. Neptune's fish bar ,the best ,Smokies from Seahouses oh my God, so wish we were there now .
There is definitely so much to see in Northumberland! We’ll have to do another trip. We had no idea Ashington was home to so many legendary sportsman! That’s unreal ⚽️
