For a long time I’ve held off on the Amex platinum because. But they made me an offer a couldn’t refuse. I never thought as an existing customer (Gold in 2018) I’d ever get the 100k offer. Plus the 10x on gas and groceries is the cherry on top. The Marriott offer is so tempting but I’m not sure how often I’ll be traveling next year.

@@BenevolentDictator13 Pre-qualified offer. I just checked using my info on the Amex website, but I think you could also use Card Match. I’m not sure if they possibly targeted me for the higher welcome bonus since I’ve never previously had an Amex card.

I would say that I believe I recently benefited from their KPI's. A while back I applied to the Gold but AMEX needed further review before saying yay or nay. However, this time around I applied and went for the 60K MR/6 months offer and was approved in less than one minute! Some may be asking, "Well why didn't you apply the same reasoning for the AMEX Platinum?" I couldn't justify the annual fee for that one versus the Gold. I couldn't see the "effective rate" being less on the Platinum versus the Gold with the travel and expenses I foresee making in 2021. Thanks, Sebby! Thanks to your reasoning I went for it and this time around, it worked!

I got approved for thr Delta Gold card. You get a much better sign up bonus when you shop for a flight through Delta and before you checkout there should be a special offer. Mine was 40k points/$2K spend/3 months and also a $200 credit after first delta purchase (which is the flight you buy right then)

I had to rebuild my credit after a drastic decrease in income years ago. I (surprisingly) got a targeted offer from American Express for Delta Gold. 70,000 SkyMiles. I did several prequalify runs and it showed it was likely to be approved. I applied and got approved. I'm already 65% through my spend requirement to qualify for the bonus. So I'm quite pleased for now. I'm not sure what I'll go to next. I'm really thinking of down down the road upgrade to Delta Platinum because of some of the benefits and I can usually find good flights on Delta given my proximity to a connection point. Thank you for all the videos you make and wealth of knowledge you share. Especially for us beginners. haha :)

Got the Amex Gold last month, and I've been trying to pull the 100K offer for Plat ever since. No luck. Finally gave up trying and pulled the trigger on the 75K Resy offer. I definitely think now is a great time for Amex cards because we're seeing some historic high offers PLUS 6 months to hit the minimum spend instead of the usual 3 months.

The Amex gold and platinum card are even easier to get approved for because they are a charge cards instead of a credit cards, meaning Amex bears almost no default risk. I’m a college student and I have the Amex green, gold, and platinum. For some reason I was denied the blue cash everyday though so go figure.

In this hobby the I’m seeing the best time to apply is when the bonuses get really juicy, that seems to be when cards get a refresh, new cards come out, or when the economy tanks. Bad time to get airline cards, that’s self-explanatory

There's a video by AskSebby that talks about a script to deal with the retention department. Hope that helps. In my experience, with just a 2 year old account, Amex places a lot of emphasis on the customer, so you should be given VIP treatment.

Currently about at least 75% of the way through the Amex Plat 100k intro spend requirement, in my first 6 weeks. I'll have this knocked out soon and I would like to get the Gold next, but IDK, I don't want a bunch of cards with high annual fees that I can't really take advantage of right now, so the Aspire is off and even the World of Hyatt. I was offered upgrade to Cash preferred. I had it for one month and I called in asking for a credit line increase. It was 10k to start off with and they asked me how much do I want , I said 20k. She them told me Congratulations! Do u think I would of gotten 30k if I asked. I charge about 5 to 6 grand a year on the everyday card prior and paid off balance 4 times per month. My fico score is 782.

Sebby - I'm targeted for 125k for the Platinum, but I'm only at 3/24 (and apparently blocked with Chase for the time being, guessing its because of too many recently opened accounts). The only other Chase card I want in the near future is the Freedom Unlimited. Do you think it's worth burning a Chase slot for this welcome offer? Also how long do you see this offer lasting? I was gonna let this CFU age out 2 months and apply for Amex gold 1/20/21 but you think it’s really worth app now rather then end of January?

Now is the best time if you care about the credits that are issued per calendar year -- Uber, Saks, Airline fee. You'll still get the 2020 credits + 2021.
