As an aesthetician, I can confirm this from experience. Sad to say I wasted years into all this product knowledge without much results. Changing my health did the most. Products never worked
Dr. Tjam you look so amazing here! I read her book "Skin Sobering" and it's great. Back in September (6 months ago) I decided to try skin sobering for a month...no skincare products, no makeup, nothing. Just cleaning with tepid water. wow. After about 3 weeks I was sold and threw out my toner. I stuck all my other creams, moisturizers, serums, cleansers, etc in a drawer and haven't touched them since. My skin is soft and plump, no more hormonal acne (I often got like one cystic pimple per month). Redness on/around my nose is gone (I used to cover it with tinted moisturizer). It's so much easier getting ready for bed (I used to dread the whole procedure...double cleanse, toner, moisturize, etc). An added benefit: I'm just more accepting of myself and my looks. I think I look fine, normal and have clear healthy skin :D
She is so right! The beauty industry is a scam!!! All I wash my face with is water my acne cleared up in days. My blackheads are drying up, no more redness, no more irritation, no more dry patches. My skin feels and looks so much healthier.
As someone from a caribbean island, vaseline has been used for years and years with no harm. The younger generation have moved a bit away from it and have added more products and we are looking older faster than our grand parents did. There are more ezcema in children than ever and we are using more products on the children. I had to move to coco butter and vasline for my son and no more ezcema.
i had been using elaborate skincare products for over two years now and i actually got thyroid issues and irregular periods. my general health declined as well. ive been looking forward to stopping serums and all this stuff and this video came as an ultimate eye-opener and inspiration to finally toss away all the bottles of serums that have done me no good and also hampered my good health. i can't seem to thank you enough for this video. more power to you. god bless you.
That would be more of a diet related issue. I’ve been dealing with the same issues. It gets worse with processed foods. I did a detox and started exercising, eating healthier. I stopped and it started happening again.
I agree. But personally, it has become worse by using unclean and toxic unnecessary Beauty products which are at the end of the day just makeup and nothing more . They definitely aren't providing you all that nutrition they claim to do@@user-fi3ch9fz1n
I loved this episode--as all my friends who are my age ask me constantly why I don't have wrinkles??I am 59 and pass a full 10-15 years younger--what are my secrets---hydration, limit sun exposure, never have smoked or drank alcohol & the kicker***I never use a straw........I am also wondering if men & women have differences in skin health is also hormone related? This wasn't hinted at??
I use a moisturizer every few days or so because I have extremely dry skin right after it is cleansed. I wash my face with a cleanser meant for sensitive skin every few days but just splash with water in between. I am allergic to most products, so once I find something, I stick with it. I never do abrasions or facials, etc, but I do shave the peach fuzz from my face every couple of weeks or so. I learned to do that overseas. Everyone tells me I look decades younger than my sixtyish years. That's it. If I could get away with not using lotion at all, I would, but my autoimmune disease makes that not possible. It works for me. 🤷 BUT, I think I will try cutting even the little cleansing I do out.
So happy I was always too lazy to use so much skincare haha. I think jojoba oil is maybe better than vaseline tho, if you need to use something. I definately like it a lot. I just use it when needed.
Just wanted to say thank you for having this discussion amongst these intelligent women! I'm SO fatigued of the beauty industry :( So so so done. You asked all of the questions I would have asked. I appreciate it so much, keep up the good work!
I have never been bombarded with so many commercials during a RU-vid video as I was with this one. And most of them were soap commercials! I am not kidding.
I'm 68, and I never used any products on my skin until 2 years ago. My skin has responded dramatically well to the few products I do use (Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser, Adapaline, CeraVe Night Cream, home-made vit C serum, zinc SPF). So... 🤷
Having foundation on once in a while isn't as bad as the constant cleansing and skincare people do online lol...and if people started making microbiome friendly makeup and skincare (some brands already are) it would even be fine.
I hit menopause and since have had six patches of skin cancer (basil, squamous thankfully no melanoma) either frozen off or surgically removed. I am not a sun worshiper. I think hormones may have triggered this, along with an exausted immune system but No doubt in my mind having a diet high in sugar/processed foods and constantly putting creams/chemicals on my face has made me susceptible. My dermatologist prescribed a strong retinol cream for prevention. 🫣 This is so refreshing and rooted in common sense. I need to stop f'ing with my face
Vitamin A - retinol especially prescription is the best thing to put on your face if anything. I still use it once a week :) And sunscreen when needed. I only eat whole food. Retinol is great tho!
