Palpatine was a brilliant and evil villain. One of the greatest villains in movie history. He was able to turn the Jedi over to the dark side. Or better yet, he manipulated the Jedi to destroy themselves. #starwars #palpatine

When you take a step back and consider the entire Skywalk saga, it becomes clear that Palpatine utilized the Skywalkers, Jedi, Clones, and various commercial clans to execute his ultimate plan of taking over the universe. His execution was flawless and carried out with great secrecy. In contrast to all the great Sith before him, Palpatine was the most powerful without having to kill people himself, but rather by manipulating others to do his bidding. Truly stunning. Hard to believe that he could have done this on his own. Don't you believe he had others to help? Such a master plan. Evil to the great level. No wonder hs is consider the most evil person in all of movie history. Great essay, edit and scrip too. The room is dark (that's OK it looks great) for this "Dark Side" video. Are you using a dolly for close up or doing that in editing? Best Tony.

Thanks Tony! My camera is set up on a tripod for filming. And yes Sidious was brilliant. Even at times when the Jedi would do something unexpected, he was able to course correct and continue with his plan. It was so well written.

@@SWPhoenixSquadron Then you had the Dark Horse comic series " Crimson Empire " during the 1990's. Palpatine was took out by his inner council and imperial guard. So the Skywalkers were not requit to his rise or down fall. But also with legends, Mara Jade & Luke's son Ben said in short, " Mom Palpatine didn't raise you to hate him like he treated Vader. So don't waste your anger on him." Palpatine " Emperor Hands " was a group of people he groom from young teens to regard him as an older grand uncle or godfather. So you had basic good people as grey Jedi that are loyal to the Emperor. In legends Mara drew in elite soldiers that killed directly for the Emperor for Luke's Yavin Jedi academy to train the teenagers and adult students.. Young Jedi series came out before Harry Potter, Luke had teenage and adult " night sisters " from the novel " Courtship of Princess Leia." Along with imperial special forces, and smugglers. The parents rotate in and out and they leave their children for schooling.

welll when he had to plan killing yhe jedis and control his goverment he did so well, but after he reaveled himself and showed his true colors and his regime and Vader acted out in the eyes of the Galaxy; Well, is no surprise the entire Galaxy joined in the Rebellion and helped the best they could after Alderaan was destroyed and the Death Star appeared; Sidious like other Sith went too far in his control and oppression and died out as expected -Still a good video my friend, very well done companion

@@SWPhoenixSquadron Clearly you haven't read the Darth Plagueis novel. Sidious says the victory of Naboo was unexpected and a loss in his eyes. It wasn't part of his original plan to manipulate the situation into getting elected. Rather he had turned an otherwise complete failure of a plan into a victory. My other comment here goes through several more instances where you're wrong and it's ironic that you didn't respond to me.
@SWPhoenixSquadron
@SWPhoenixSquadron 7 месяцев назад
I don’t disagree with your point that Palpatine took losses, adjusted, and that was part of his genius. Also, I never said that Naboo was an all out victory. But what I did say, was his plan was executed to perfection. Yes, unexpected things happened. But he always had a way of turning it into victories. He wanted to bring Naboo into the Republic. And IN THE PLAGUEIS NOVEL, he disagreed with his dad about it. He manipulated Ars Veruna to fall, and put in his choice as queen. A young girl who he could easily manipulate. Which he did through the prequel trilogy. He got everything he wanted because of Padme. So yes, I’ve read Plagueis several times.

@@SWPhoenixSquadron You made it seem like the plan for the Naboo crisis was to get elected chancellor, when in reality the Sith plan for Naboo was to force it to sign the treaty and create chaos in the senate. Perhaps that'd have also led to Sidious getting elected, but everything after Padme escaped Naboo had to be improvised. The meddling involvement of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan was not a part of the Sith plan. As for Naboo being in the Republic, they were a member in ep 1 since Sidious was their representative. I'm not actually sure when they joined. I'm pretty sure Sidious was a member of the Legislative Youth Program and was at their meeting right before he murdered his entire family. Being a member of the fake Republic for kids would make more sense if the planet was already in the Republic but I suppose it wouldn't be necessary so you may be right that Naboo joins the Republic between the Palpatine family murders and Padme's election as queen. Either way I feel like I owe you an apology. Especially since both your responses to me were excellent.

Man, I’m so glad I skipped on the sequels. They MASSACRED my boy, Luke! Made him into an absolute hack, made him out to appear as an alcoholic who gave up on life, and then they’re also taking away his biggest accomplishment of defeating Palpatine!? Disney hates the heroes of the franchises they purchase, I SWEAR.

Very interesting and well-done. I remember hearing somewhere that while Palpatine/Sidious possessed a genius-level intellect, an innate sense of superiority over all other beings, and an exceptional command of the Force, these would have gotten him nowhere without the sharpest tool in his arsenal, that of manipulation. He pulled strings so that no matter what happened, he would be the ultimate victor, and this is summarized in what he told his own master Plagueis as he murdered him: "You've been nothing more than a pawn in a game played by a genuine master."

@beskamir5977 7 месяцев назад
I unfortunately have to really disagree with you. A lot of Sidious's plan only lines up in retrospect rather than being setup from the very beginning. Qui-Gon being eliminated was only a benefit to the grand plan and Anakin's corruption to the dark side in hindsight. It wasn't planned by Sidious beyond just wanting Maul to eliminate both of the meddling Jedi, and that dividing them and probably targeting the master first was the best solution to achieving that goal. That's why he told Maul to take out the Jedi before going after the Queen when he sends him to chase them down on Tatooine. Furthermore, in the Darth Plagueis novel, Sidious actually considers the victory of Naboo to be a loss from his perspective. Yet he was enough of a mastermind to turn a defeat into a victory by exploiting the entire mess the Jedi caused to get himself elected. The actual plan for Naboo was to just create further strife and disagreement within the senate and increase tensions between the outer and inner systems. Except Valorum went behind everyone's back and secretly got the Jedi involved. That's why Sidious tells Gunray that the involvement of the Jedi was unforeseen and that they should be eliminated immediately. Which really only makes him more impressive. Since he had managed to make setbacks ultimately benefit his grand plan.

Anakin’s corruption worked “only in hindsight”?? That is absolutely false. Once he learned of Anakin, he 100% made him essential to his victory. In the Plagueis novel, him and Plagueis both knew of Anakin’s importance, as well as their theory that the force retaliated against their experiment, creating Anakin. To say his fall only worked in hindsight, is wildly incorrect.

The Jedi were fine with 4 year olds fighting galactic wars just cause mfs looks old Also something i find interesting is that buddhist ideals form many aspects of the jedi understanding this untethering of the earth shit seems pretty fucked and lame if you asked me it leads to complacency like the jedi i mean its saying be at peace with your pain accept your pain and suffering instead trying to actually fix the source of it and grow from it They teach accepting bad outcomes in of itself as a form of lesson when its the lessons you get from bad situations that help you grow there is a reason why even though many people who make this claim dont understand it the "There is not light or dark its just the force" thing is so damn true and most people in star wars if any actually get it. most who even come close to recognizing that idea dont understand on a conscious level just on a semi conscious semi ignorant level Like take Galen Marek for example when he became good he didn't care for a balance or a light or dark he just was himself the need for "Balance" is such a stagnancy the Jedi hold so dear its toxic

It is possible to be at peace with the way experience is now while still working to improve it. This only appears to be paradoxical because we use the word peace ambiguously. Peace without complacency is hard, just as effort without attachment is hard. The peace of Buddhism is like a knife’s edge, but the promise of enlightenment is that it is possible to live atop the edge, maintaining the deep peace without falling into complacency on the one hand, or inability to accept reality on the other. Anyone can test these claims for themselves in the laboratory of their own mind. Determine for yourselves if there is such a form of pragmatically effective absolute peace. A good comparison that many people may be familiar with is the experience of being in the midst of making art, being in love, or on the verge of intellectual breakthrough. These experiences can taste both of great intensity and a tiny, but central kernel of profound calm, often because in some way you can feel that you really wouldn’t rather things be any other way. One way to understand the claim that enlightenment is possible is to understand that it’s possible to be with all of life the way a great artist, lover, or scientist is with their work. This is probably much closer to the ancient ideals of the Jedi (though I can’t actually say). It’s losing this way of being that would then equate to the fall of the Jedi. To my points about the Jedi and their philosophy, there is another common confusion about ‘attachment’ that critics of the Jedi in Star Wars exhibit. It’s a similarly profound and subtle distinction between attachment in the sense of caring and attachment in the sense of being unable to accept. The acceptance of Buddhism is precisely caring without either complacency or being unable to accept reality as it is.

2:27 Ivory Tower? They didn’t just stay in the Jedi tower or temple. They council members were out in the battlefield or out on missions themselves. This is nonsense. The Jedi were not arrogant. They didn’t refuse to believe the Sith had returned they were just hard to believe that their ancient enemies had returned without them noticing but they were determined to investigate and discover who they were. 3:24 wrong. They were believers in the prophecy they just didn’t think Anakin could be trained. He was too full of fear. They rightly believed that he would be susceptible to the dark side. If Anakin needed that kind of special attention then the Yoda and Windu were right that he should not have been trained. It’s absurd to claim Windu was in fear when facing Palpatine. There was no fear. The Jedi were a good and noble order. There was no arrogance. They constantly looked to the Force for guidance. The idea that they no longer were looking to the Force is without support. Windu already sensed the dark side surrounding Palpatine before Anakin found out about Palpatine being the Sith Lord. This notion of the Jedi being arrogant or dogmatic is rooted in Sith narrative. Just as Palpatine succeeded in painting the Jedi as traitors so he painted them as arrogant and dogmatic to Anakin who was already susceptible to his lies.

@@AnabolicUnitarian I don’t feel any need to accept Rebels as canon. It’s not. Rebels has a good story to it but Yoda’s description in Rebels is so out of touch and disconnected to Yoda of canon. It’s over the top and unhinged and nothing what canon Yoda would say. To have him say that the Jedi were consumed by the Dark Side is absurd. Lucas doesn’t consider the EU canon so neither do I. So my response to you is, Rebels is wrong and I disagree with what that Yoda said there.
@AnabolicUnitarian
@AnabolicUnitarian 4 месяца назад
Lol, talk about “unhinged”. (1) Lucas is the one who began expanding canon with Lucasfilm-produced series beginning with *TCW* and *Rebels* is one of *TCW*’s follow-up series; not to mention Yoda expresses early concerns about this, albeit not as developed in his mind since the focus is still on the war. (2) *Rebels* is not Legends content, it was canon from day one and remains so. Anyone watching a number of the other series that have since been produced will miss quite a bit (and in some cases, a lot) not having watched *Rebels* first. And (3), even if you only accept the Skywalker Saga films, nothing Yoda said is inconsistent whatsoever. Almost like Yoda has had nearly two decades to ruminate over the cause of the Purge, the rise of the Empire, and his own failures and mistakes as the principal Jedi at the time, which, btw, are clearly and explicitly shown in the Saga, particulay in Ep. II and III when he and Windu consistently express that the Dark Side has diminished them and that their actions are taking them down a dark path. So on take after take you’re just wrong. Like the Jedi were by no means evil, but, even with their noblest intentions, they were deeply flawed and increasingly distrusted by the public (both of which they began to notice, but did little to nothing about) and, as a result, played right into Sidious’ hands.
@lissadawes4243
@lissadawes4243 4 месяца назад
@@AnabolicUnitarian nothing I said is unhinged. You write a lot and throw a lot of stuff as if that’s going to make it sound like you know what you’re talking about. You don’t. I didn’t say that Rebels is Legends. However, despite being a Lucas Film produced series Lucas himself had nothing to do with it. Filoni was its creator and as you should know Filoni has been rightly criticized for his lack of respect of continuity with other content material even the G-canon. He has made it clear he doesn’t like being restricted to previous canon material and he has demonstrated this in his series. So to say that nothing Yoda says here is “inconsistent” is your opinion. I most certainly and definitely believe it is extremely inconsistent. The Stars Wars Encyclopedia has referred to EU material as being “quasi canon” and other sources refer to the G canon as “the only true canon” and “absolute canon” in distinction to the EU. So again, no it’s not unhinged to dismiss Filoni stuff if I’m doing it against the standard of a higher or the “absolute canon”. You’re just an uninformed uncritical SW watcher who gets giddy about anything. But you just blindly and uncritically take Filoni and his material at face value because you were told to. Anyone is free to dismiss anything, even within a T-canon series that is below the only thing that is authoritatively canon, G-canon. Do you accept everything within T canon? Everything? It would have been one thing to have Yoda say the Jedi were blinded or deceived by the Dark Side. Ok, fine that’s established canon but to go beyond that to say they were “consumed” by it is pure unadulterated BS. That’s a clear discontinuity. But hey you keep just watching Filoni uncritically as if everything he does is absolutely consistent and be his college cheerleader everytime he says or does anything.
@AnabolicUnitarian
@AnabolicUnitarian 4 месяца назад
Lol, this is literally peak unhinged. The only thing plagued with discontinuity here is you from reality. Go touch some grass and stop getting yourself pointlessly riled up by the fact that you’re both unserious and flat out wrong about the current canon of a franchise “for 12-year olds,” as GL himself put it several times over the years.
