If you watch one Richard Wongs S52 videos, he compares the rear screen of the S52 A74 and R6II outdoors in sunlight, the S52 screen is useable were as the canons looks dim and the A74 is pretty much useless. This actually a big point for run and gun shooting

Hold onto those lenses, in the Kai video they show the mc-21 adapter allows af-c for EF lenses!

6:05 So glad they finally admitted contrast AF isn’t good enough. The stubbornness was just bizarre. If the GH6 had had phase detect auto focus I would have bought it in a heartbeat. In fact, if they make a mark 2 of that camera with phase detect I’m in on day one. (And I might even still be in for the s5 ii because this seems like THE mobile vlogging camera)

The AF on my SIIX works 100% of the time. Even when I walk away from the camera and come back running. I think it’s just as good as the Sony one

Good job Lok, the autofocus needs your input in autofocus customization to get close to great experience. I expect substantial autofocus changes around shipping or shortly after. Technically, they’re combining both contrast and phase detect. The tweaking Panasonic will do will have some excellent potential as more input is taken in. Cameras need internet connection so algorithms can be upgraded constantly. The Tesla self driving evolution is an example and many phones do camera upgrade over time from data back to manufacturer. Of course, all needs to be with permission.

THIS! All the camera brands are SO outdated with internet features. You can’t even update the firmware without going through that age old ritual of downloading to SD card, well given that you actually know there’s a new firmware! Don’t get me start with how their phone apps are laughable useless and clumsy…

The AF mode sometimes needs to switch between on Eye mode and Human mode, if u locked it in eye mode and u turn around, it might not focus on u but the foreground

Not knocking the camera as it looks to be an AMAZING value, but it is only January 13th, so yeah...as the first released camera of 2023 it should be THE camera everyone is talking about. Will be great to see what this kind of fire this lights under the other manufacturers.

why couldn't they uncrop 4k60 😂 I'm not going to pay $3000+ to switch to full frame just to have all my full frame lenses cropped to aps-c when doing 4k60😂😂 I only want to shoot 4k60, so basically I still wait for my g9 (with unlimited 4k60 hack on old 1.2 firmware😂) successor with phase detect 😂

Whoever NEEDS good Autofocus to make great Videos, needs something else than a New Camera....but I think I trade my S5 for the S5iiX Version :) very good camera with ssd recording etc.

This looks like very good content creator camera. I wish it had simple wireless remote control like my Canon M50. I record video on tripod and camera always away from me. I need a remote. I don't want use my mobile phone as remote. To big and not handy.

Please tell me this is true, Panasonic s5 mark2 -1080p 4.2.2 10 bit 24/25/30fps FF (Full-Frame) use PDAF. 1080p 4.2.2. 10 bit 50/60fps FF use DFD (old contrast method). 1080p 50/60fps APS-C mode use PDAF.

Yea a half press on the shutter button it would focus immediately; just that it shouldn’t had happened in the first place, also no other current cameras do this

I got a chance to see the camera yesterday in the CEIF 2023 exhibition in India yes AF in S5ii is like AF in sony cameras in 2015 a lot of hunting Panasonic think customers are foolish you cannot be still hunting for focus or have focus breathing in 2023, but if you're looking to use manual focus n photography Panasonic is one of best our there

No offense but how is it THE video cam of 2023? Why would I choose this over a Sony FX3 which can shoot 4k60p with no crop at 10-bit 4:2:2 INTERNALLY. Sorry but this Panasonic is nothing to get excited for, and I WAS going to buy 2 of them until I saw the specs.

4k60 is more of a gimmick the more you use it. Panasonic's amazing IBIS now has reliable AF at an affordable price and that's more of a big deal than you'd think. Almost everyone who has moved over from Panasonic to Sony/Canon felt sad they had to switch, but it was because the AF reliability was a need.

Didn't know the FX3 was released in 2023? And the S5ii is a true hybrid camera, with mechanical shutter.
