I'll never forget meeting Paul at a book signing in Tempe, Arizona. My youngest daughter Kira had her finals that night at college. So, she wasn't able to be with me. She's met Ace,Peter,and Gene. Even though she wasn't able to meet him in person I told him about her finals. Paul talked to my daughter on the phone and said you got this!!! Thanks Paul Stanley you're an Amazing Man!!!!

What a great interview. Paul is a gentlemen....the only one in the band. We met him recently in Atlantis. He was with his family and I was with mine. He's also brutally critical and uncaring at times - to friends, lovers and bandmates current, former and dead. It's the curse of being a sensitive person, you can be cruel and unforgiving. Read or listen to his book - he just rips everyone apart. No compliments for anybody.
@HappyMachorino-bd8no
@HappyMachorino-bd8no 5 месяцев назад
@@SharpCinema "No compliments"? is not true. Ace was brilliant, funny, had aura...We had good times. Not one critical word about Bob Kulick, Bruce Kulick, Anton Fig etc. And what he wrote about his ex-wife is nicer than how most men talk about their ex. When the lover, Amanda, wanted to buy drugs he told her not to come back! Maybe brutal, but it was clearly self-defensive. And his criticism is the other side of his SELF criticism. A very honest book 📖.

Seeing this interview by chance and listening intensely on Paul's every word reminded me what a good and hardworking band KISS is still to this day. I used to always champion Ace and Peter…I read all of their books…and by far the most honest and believable one was Paul. And honestly how can anyone dislike that? He’s the man.

I read Paul's book and have mixed feelings. He criticizes almost everything and everyone in it. (I like their music, especially the unmasked era with Bruce Kulick.) Paul criticizes some people so often in the book that I find it strange. If what he described is true, it's hard to understand why he stayed in a relationship/band with certain people for many years. Money is not the answer, because he earns well even with the current lineup. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there is no truth in what he wrote.
@tymiller2526

@@80s_kid I hear ya…I think I see it the way I see it because although he certainly criticized others a lot (especially Peter), at no point does he champion himself as flawless. He always owns up to decisions he made that were selfish or without regard to someone else’s own situation…in other words, he certainly criticizes others but doesn’t really give himself praise outside of song writing abilities…but I feel that he earned that

@@80s_kid It came off to me as a highly slanted version of the truth where he was always right and everyone else in his life was always wrong…he attacked Ace for dressing up as a Nazi (which I’m not defending) and described how hurtful and awful it was for him to do that. However, there are pictures of Paul dressed as a Nazi too, posing with Ace and looking to be having a blast…which Paul didn’t address. He chose to simply give a limited description which attacks Ace and paints himself as the victim when the real story was probably more complex. Like the old saying, don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story

Thanks Howie, and Paul for the excellent interview! Paul Stanley is the ipotimy of what a Rock star is ! He's the one that invented that whole image and Role of what a Rock star is and should be! This man took Rock to another level of showmanship, stagecraft, creativity, image, excellent sound quality, songwriting ,vocal delivery and crowd interaction , that is second to none! He was the first to create the front man mantra for Rock! He's so modest about that , and so underrated. Also, his rhythm guitar playing is so tight, crunchy and Rockin! A real innovator of that style. The bands earlier records we're the the most colorful, photogenic, and jammed with the coolest stuff inside, stickers, tattoos, posters, etc! Nobody packaged records that before, and the music was so tight, rocking and mixed to perfection! Listen to those early records with headphones on cranked up ! Amazing! They truly are the Hottest band in the world! Thanks Paul for introducing me to Rock in such a big way! You inspired me to play guitar and opened up my musical experience for a lifetime! As a drummer from the age of 4 years old...I grew up learning and playing the drums. When I herad KISS for the first time...it changed my life. Because I was not happy with music in 1974-5 and I wanted more. I went out and became a professional drummer playing on the road all over the place , recorded 2 full albums, recorded a few songs with others, andalways pushed my self to be the best because of KISS. Just for the record...when Peter left I sent a promo pack in to try to get the gig. After ERic Carr got the gig...he played a big black drum set kinda like mine only a little bigger. Mine was 14 drums and 18 cymbals. I love to hear you talk Paul...and now it helps center me as I have becomed disable and unable to play since 2012. I realise now that I probably will never play again. But I am alive and want to stay that way as long as I can. KISS was, is, and always be the greatest rock & roll band of all time. Howie...still a great guy (we met once) and still funny. Wish you would do some comedy STUFF on your channel.

Why can't you play anymore? Btw I'm sorry to hear that, from an ex pro musician to another, mine was guitarist for several bands, some toured regional, some were cross country as well, before the internet and being a musician it's hard to tell the younger ppl about how it worked without Facebook promo pages and everything else to help expose your music and even learning new stuff

I've always thought Peter was a better drummer than he's given credit. Not the fanciest or the fastest player, but he always had solid timing and a nice groove. Simplicity can be a strength. Sometimes ya just want a cheeseburger instead of a four-course meal, ya know? Sorry to hear you're no longer able to play. Are any recordings of your playing still available to listen to?
