Well both have pros and cons.. Pela can debuff all enemies, but she cant apply element weakness.. SilverWolf can only debuff one enemy, but she can apply weakness(kind of QOL for new players) and also she can apply other debuff with her attacks too.. therefor they are both good in their own category.. you cant have SW do debuff all enemies and also apply weakness, because that will be broken.. so, the conclusion is both units has Pros and Cons. With all that being said, I use Pela with my Jingliu team, and SilverWolf on my second team. If theres only 2 units of these big Defense Shred Debuff, then why are we all arguing about which is better, because you can use both of them in both team, lol.. problem solved.
I don't think you even need to grab popcorn, pela is better than SW, it's just mono copetum fanboys thinking otherwise. Even some CN TCs are starting to say pela>sw.
Here we go with the 1.1 event LC again, man as a PS5 player this hurts so much its literally the only thing that my Pela is missing to be 100% cracked.
I'm so glad I've seen her potential since the beginning of the game & skipped SW to save up for future units. Happy to see my girl receiving the appreciation she deserves!
Same, once i understood diminishing returns i realized very early in the game that best comps in HSR are made of one main dps, 1 buffer, 1 debuffer in this case pella and a healer/tank (like Fuxan or a jacked Gepard) as i remember twitch streamers recomend so many stupid team comps like some using thingyuan and bronya togheter and such...
I appreciate you making this kind of content. Very objective and has given me a lot to think about. I think in these kinds of games since you can clear the content quickly and efficiently either way, it’s important to use who you enjoy playing with more. But with that said, min-maxing and using who’s objectively best in slot is fun too for a lot of people including myself. Thanks smack
It's fair to say that in a turn-based game having access to defense shred is always valuable especially if it's as high as 40% and with it being permanently up AND aoe, calling pela 5 star is basically an understatement at this point. but at the same time having elemenal manipulation is almost unheard of in turn based games and is extremly potent not just in a gacha sense but just game design sense especially in the case of SW who's a single target dps in disguise . Also if they add elemental counter effects ( like in pokemon ) then SW will only gain more value. TLDR, literally no one should regret pulling SW nor should they ignore pela. Imo they fill different niches but just happen to overlap in the def shred part.
@vanilla9886 Well, in a sense, he's right about her being broken. That being said, he is wrong about having her being equal to : "easy mode/no skill required anymore." Ur not gonna suddenly become Jesus with her if ur account isn't managed well even if she helps u preserve resources. Also, Smack isn't slandering SW here ( even if it seems like it). He's simply showing people why pela is cracked and he's right about that.
Equipping Belobog of Architects to Pela is big brain. Thanks for sharing the tip! Pela complements multiple DPS compositions very well. I still need Silver Wolf though for that weakness implant. Luka is my single-target defense shred unit for now with the Resolution LC. 😅
I've been thinking of going for sub-dps since I have E6 Pela, cause honestly all her Ascension Traces and Eidolons seem to lead that way, a bit of a strange approach to her kit but I don't mind since it also means she's completely viable at E0 for newer players.
Pela with the 4 wind set and regen + forward at start energy rope set is just crazy man. My Pela is a speed demon and has her ult up and ready to go all the time too. When I got Jing Liu I wasn't expecting that I would be building my Pela too, but glad I did, because I happened to have godly wind gear specifically S-tier for her, and now she not only has turns all the time(150~ speed). But she also got 4k hp and still does tremendous amount of damage herself as well(e6). Most broken damage support ever, and anything with ice weakness is beyond screwed.
Yeah, Pela is great; I have her. I also skipped SW on her first banner, but I think her unique feature, weakness implant, is still nice. It lets you break enemies, which can be a lifesaver, especially if an enemy is about to release a damaging AOE attack. You can stop that by breaking its weakness.
Both have pros and cons. Which one is better depends on both the comp and the fight in question. This MoC, I did make more use of Pela, but a big reason for that is because both Silver Wolf and pela enabled 0 cycles for me for my Jingliu team and I didn't feel the need to continually swap gears (for speed tuning purposes) between them when either fit the bill. I used Silver Wolf together with QQ against the Deer on MoC 9 though while my Jingliu team 0 cycled the first fight. As for Pearls vs. Tutorial, Pela's on avg. dmg contribution via her debuffs is higher on Pearls so long as it's S3 or higher. But, yes, that comes at a cost of either needing to skill sometimes (you do anyways with Jingliu to apply the ice resist debuff from E4, so this is moot), or needing to get kills to proc her E1 to get the last energy you need to Ult, or just delaying the Ult since often times you will already be in killing range after the previous Ult. If you absolutely can't skill in a comp and if there are not any adds to be killed for extra energy in a timely fashion, sure, Tutorial is really nice for those situations. But, in general, I find myself using Pearls S5 far more often than tutorial on her to greater effect.
Tru though, I love SW and still gonna use her whenever I feel like it. Her implant weakness is her exclusive feature but at this point hoyo aldy release limited character (dmg unit) for all element. Once you covering all element (you will in the future) SW exclusive feature will drop to the point it become unescessary.
Even if more unit comes in future for all type, SW weakness will still very potent for Mono QUA. You can run mono QUA and ignore whole elements sys for one team in your teams. Bit lazy play, but work which would help ease a bit on making teams, which I guess could be unnecessary or still extremely nice depend on personal opinion. Technically we still waiting for QUA Harmony. Which is soon, my “dreams” tells me after Ruan Mei. Running Lynx and FX don’t count imo. It’s like running March and Gepard at same time.
I also had my Pela built as sub-dps with 1:2 crit ratio but I changed it to a tank build to sustain MoC 10 enemies and Jingliu health drain. Im so obsessed with the 10% crit dmg given by Keel because not only does it stack with other character's Keel, it forces you to give Effect RES to supports so they wont get CC'd easily. It just fits the name "Broken" Keel so well
Wasn't playing at the beginning of the game (arrived during Kafka's banner) and grabbed Pela from the shop as soon as I could. Never regretted it, she's amazing. I know SW is a good unit but I won't need her long term since you can either brute force content or will have enough different DPS to deal with the different elements at some point. Pela on the other hand? What she does is simple but she does it well. She's never left my team ever since I got her, and she's on Luka's lightcone at S1 (since I obviously don't have the SW event LC).
love the vid! makes me wanna build mine now! could you show what stats are on the relics like the body and boots? i guess speed boots but chest i have no clue crit rate?
Here is a question Gacha Smack, I have a Guarantee should I pull for Huo Huo or Sw. I really want to pull for Ruan Mei but my account has Fu Xuan as a Sustainer but is it ok for me to skip both banners and stick with Pela. I don't have Jing Liu (coz lost 50 50) or Dan Heng IL or Blade. It's Seele, Clara and Kafka damage dealers but I do have a Bronya though.
I always thought of her as a nice free def shred and after I build her I realized she hits like a truck on her own. But now I need to change the light cone after seeing this
Yeah Pela just feels good to use, simple and effective kit and even without using skill it feels like she gets her ult often. SW is the only character I’ve pulled so far that I kind of regret, not cause she’s bad I just haven’t used her as much as I expected, she’s still good with Seele and can enable a mono quantum team for me at some point but I’ve just found myself using Pela way more
Honestly I agree with this opinion and I've had it before Gacha but when he plays that Legend of Legaia music in the back it just boosts the validity by 500
you're convincing me to not pull for silver wolf next patch but i dont know anymore as i dont want argenti or huohuo and same with 1.6. MAYBE ruan mei but im not sure. i have jingliu on the genius quantum set and was thinking of using SW with jingliu so i can always have ice weakness AND quantum weakness on an enemy if they already have 1 of the 2 elements. do i still pull or no? i also have jing yuan, dhil, clara. could do mono dhil team with yukong but idk :/
Pela has been putting in work on my account. Black Swan powercreeps her as Nihility Wind Defense shredder. But I'll have to skip her; I want Dr. Ratio & Hanabi. Good luck on your pulls y'all 😄
I think it depends. SW + Fu Xuan can enable the deadly mono quantum combo which is insane. Outside that, I think Pela is generally better than SW at E0, however, if you wanna commit any further into SW, getting further Eidolons on her will blow out of the water anything Pela can do.
In many games I've played, def shred weren't additive (you'd either get the highest def shred value from current debuffs, or the second def shred became a lower % than the stated number when stacked, like a diminishing return) is that the case in HSR?
I’ve loved Pela since I started playing (Fu Xuan banner) and specifically E4’d her when Jingliu was announced. Pela, Tingyun and (with more investment) Asta are like the Bennett, Xiangling and Xingqiu of HSR 😂 I was surprised not many people have talked about her until recently, it was always about Silver Wolf even though her completely single target kit sucks for current content and not the best support for recent destruction dps units. But! I think that’s kind of a good thing: Pela may be the better option for aoe content/units but Silver Wolf seems to be the better option for hunt main dps, especially if they can capitalize off of her numerous debuffs (👀 1.5 banner maybe?) I just hope MHY releases a nihility support set soon. Until then, my Pela is rocking the musketeer pieces we passively get every week (I refuse to farm that cavern or the ice/wind cavern lol too lazy)
At 8:10 I believe that Pela only got extra energy because she broke an enemy's weakness, because I used Pela's technique on the 2nd half and my energy bar was only half-full at 55/110. She also has 88 EHR with SW event LC and ERR rope.
Your trace talent level must be low, because pela does not have a "generate energy on weakness break" Tested with my ungeared pela + ERR rope + SW Event LC and also gotten 66/110 like his.
@@onedayiwillbegone2366 Did you get 66/110 on the 1st half or the 2nd half of MOC10? I have gotten 67/110 on 1st half, but only 55/110 on 2nd half using Pela's technique.
@@strakyman hmm.. let me check... don't have energy to be clearing stage to test on 2nd half as im sick from covid, so I tested on MOC7, non-ice weakness and I still get 66/110, your Pela shouldn't be getting different values... try check ur LC or u swapped ur gears ard.
@@onedayiwillbegone2366 I used Pela technique on MOC7 1st half, and I only got 55/110. She has S5 Event LC, level 10 talent, ERR rope, and Sprightly Vonwacq.
Pela has built-in faster ER with her talent, buff removal, Ice Res Reduc, and AoE Def Shred galore. SW can Implant Elemental Weakness, debuff SPD, ATK, DEF (more useful against high spd/hard hitting enemies which helps in mitigating issues with sustain). Her skill can also give elemental res reduc which is practically a boost to all-type elemental dmg like the planar ornament orb. And assuming you can implant Quantum Weakness reliably, she's an arguably fast toughness breaker with ult spam through the ER gains from her f2p LC. The quantum toughness break has come in clutch for me many times against attacks that need charging from enemies. I use them both on each of my two teams in MoC as def shredders and they have their own viabilities. Pela is definitely more reliable but in terms of dmg boost I tend to rely on SW more I use Pela w/ Clara SW w/ Seele or Welt Though I sometimes switch the def shredders depending on the enemy types
I'm enjoying her as well since i built her last week since i have her already at e4, why not. Plus im skipping 1.5 so here's my chance to build these supports i have. I have her paired with JL and yes she is soo good. I use her more often now than my SW.
Ima be honest, I was about to comment 🧢 but realized I wasn't using her right. Great video. Is it a good idea to use silver wolf on a team with her, or is it better to bring a buffer like tingyun instead (Without considering the situation or elemental advantage aspect).
The only thing I hate about Pela is that... She's E12 or E13 in my account.😂😂😂 Amazing unit btw, I use her with 4pcs Wind. 100% uptime def shred and skill point generator, yes please.
A video like this coming out at this time is huge to be honest, I'm glad some of these older units are actually getting the limelight. Qingque was slept on for so long, now the most busted 4* damage dealer ever. Pela being downgraded for so long is now shinning after people realized that Defense Shred is just nuts along with the 3+ enemy fights becoming more of a thing rather than single target, and, if people were pulling on these banners with her on it, they will MORE THAN LIKELY, have her E6'd already.
I have E6 Pela w/ nigh maxed Talents (12/11/11). Absolutely broken. She not only has insane energy regen, she perfectly synergizes w/ Jingliu w/ Ice Res shred, has AoE shred, SP efficient and can act as a Sub DPS w/ the right substats (64/104, becomes 76/144 w/ FX E1). I, personally, always felt like SW was overvalued and now the reality is finally starting to set in lol EDIT: I forgot she increases the EHR of your team because of course she does.
Is defense different to resistance? Like a separate multiplier or does it just reduce the effectiveness of defense shredding. In another game I play they have defense and resistance listed using different words but they act as the same multiplier so I'm not sure how it works in Star Rail.
Resistance is resistance to something. Cocolia has Ice resist meaning she receives lower Ice damage. Phantylia has Quantum resistance so she receives lower quantum damage.
When or if elements start mattering more, then silver wolf will shine more. Also if the MOC goes towards a more single target focus at some point her def shred will work just fine
I built my pela with err and super speedy I have pretty much 100% ult uptime and I use her with jingliu so I can casually go with remembrance and have these 2 destroy everything easily the only downside pela has is that autobattle is seemingly unable to use anything else than skill on her unless it got no skill points
8:28 I must be missing something. I use Pela's technique but I don't get the energy from it, I see 55 energy. Could it be I need someone to debuff with her, like Jingliu (whom I don't have q.q)? edit: just tested with dr. ratio technique and I got to 63 energy (not 66 because of low traces). Looks like for Pela's technique to give energy at the start you need one character to also debuff with their technique, like Jingliu or Dr. Ratio (tested with Sampo - didn't work)
I started playing this game a few days before that SW event light cone went away. I pulled SW and was forced to try for her SigLC, which i got lucky on. Still, i wish i had that event one. Maybe Hoyo will show mercy and reintroduce it somehow.
i plan to pickup a SW but it will be for very niche situation for example i have a topaz and lets say the new followup attacker would be awesome to pair her with but wrong element..? then in some cases if the enemy already has quantum n one of the additional weaknesses then i might slot in SW.. at this point its more having extra options rather than actually needing her and my pela is pretty much glued to my jingliu team
Also the annoying part about using SW on a mono quantum with bronya is that SW will always give wind weakness instead of quantum after using her skill like 3 times lol
I just use both of them. I use pela more for MoC, silver more for my main simulated/swarm teams. I knew silver would slowly lose value as we got more units, but she hard carried me for so long since I didn't have a 5 star dps until Blade that I'm still glad I pulled.
I prefer the def shred lc as the other lc is used by my SW and I'm running break effect rope on SW so she needs the extra regen. Also, the extra def shreds from autos is helpful in longer fights
Wait until she can use the Penacony set, Resolution LC and have a 2 turn rotation while staying SP neutral, giving 10% dmg and 16% DEF shread (if you kill 3 enemies - easy)
Pela is absolutely great. I'm very glad she's getting lots of love lately. Besides the DEF shredding being massive, there's also 3:21 to show why she's the best.
Just something to note: while I agree with most things being said here, I think Silver Wolf still have something Pela doesn't, which is the duration and the number of her debuffs. - Most of SW debuffs last 3 turns, Pela's last 2. This is very comfy with bosses who keep having their turn pushed up. Of course you can time your skill right to mitigate this. But again, it's about comfort, and SW's longer duration is a bit more forgiving. This is not to mention one of SW's bug is a Spd down, which helps with the longevity of her debuffs. She does take more turn to recharge her Ult, as the video shown, so there's that too. - SW have a base of 6 debuffs in her kit: 3 random bugs, a RES shred + 1 conditional (implanting a weakness the enemy does not have) RES shred, and a Def shred. Pela has 2 Def shreds, 3 with E4. I'm saying this because (spoiler warning) there ought to be future characters who scale off the number of debuffs the opponent has. If, or when, this character is out, and they want more than 2 or 3 debuffs, SW's value might get an increase. Subjected to if this character have a cap on the number of debuffs they can benefit from, of course. Pela can mitigate this by using Pearl of Sweat, but you will be sacrificing the 8 energy from Before the Tutorial that allows her to be an SP generator. And no, you can't do 3 basics to Ult with Pela bc her debuffs only last 2 turns. + Given, Pela can still be competitive with SW, first-turn speaking. If we are talking about using a technique and a skill (and an Ult in Pela's case) first turn, SW can apply 2 bugs and 1 RES shred (maybe 2?); Pela can apply all 3 of her debuffs, which is comparable. Second wave though, if we are still talking Ult and Skill, Pela is down to 2 and SW is up to 4. So...yea, I wouldn't say Pela is BETTER. She's...comparable, and using her will have caveats that players need to be aware of.
I mean it's an event exclusive light cone I can't expect them to bring that back after all I'm still waiting for my festering desire in genshin and that's been 3 years late now 😂😂😂
I Don't even Need Pela to Zero Cycle with my 105 SPD Jingliu (In the 1.3 and 1.4 MOC (Even with Decaying shadow not being Weak to Ice) She could still get it done right before the 29th cycle could Tick down) I did it with a Bronya and Tingyun and It might even become easier if you switch Fu (Who I used with them) For Huohuo's Battery) Which Tells me they need to Buff the HP DEF and Introduce Damage Reduction if they are not weak to that Element/Higher DMG Reduction if they are Resistant to that element to make Brute forcing over using SW/the RIght Element a more Viable option over Brute forcing with said Broken Character (because I am not even Serious about Trying to Zero Cycle with any of my Charcters but she can do it so effortlessly with Bronya or even without Bronya if you have her at the SPD Breakpoint needed to take two turns in 1 cycle)
Its all great and all but the "before the tutorial mission" lightcone isnt avalable anymore, unless theyll do another event or add it to the standart pool but even then no way in hell newcomers can bring it to S5.
I use my Pela more than my SW. With the rise of Destruction characters, Pela’s value really skyrocketed. Plus that buff removal is just so clutch. Had SW’s Ult been AoE, she would have remained supreme.
I always prefer pela if I don't need the element change. Really once you get a dps from every element, silver wolf just is not longer needed at all, besides bringing versatility. I still like that no matter what dps drops, fire, ice, wind, I know I can always run them with silverwolf. Still a great pull if you want to be flexible.
I'm pretty sure they changed this somehow in 1.6 I've got my pela with 124 energy recharge and she doesn't gain energy anymore when going into battle with technique
well both SW and Pela are great in there respective roles the thing is everything late game that takes a few turns to kill have adds and especially those robot take more dmg if you can clear there adds while nuking them so AOE def break by Pela is simply better than the single target SW offers if you can cover the elemental weakness its that simple the more charecters that cover elemental weaknes the less usefull SW becomes Pela does her job even better the only thing SW offers more than Pela is a bit of burst dmg by building her with the break set and have her break still that doesn't do much now in late game compared to 2/3 months ago when bosses simply had less hp to nuke
