I'm Australian and lived in the UK for 2 years and no offence but it's a miserable place with miserable people. Their peak was 2012 and it's been all downhill from there.
i’m english, I loved england, the england where i grew up in the 80s and 90’s anyway…but i really could not agree more. It really is a horrible sh**hole, with at least 8months rain. This country is finished
Cost of living and politics are indeed bad, but the main thing that makes me wish I could leave and never come back is the bloody weather! Seriously, it hasn't stopped raining for the last 18 months in my area. Just low pressure systems one after the other. July and January are indistinguishable. it's never warm, never cold, just grey, wet and utterly miserable 24/7/365. Everywhere looks filthy due to the incessant rain leaving all the roads and pavements coated in mud and sludge, everything in my house feels damp all the time due to the moisture in the air thanks to there never being a chance for things to dry out. It's enough to drive the most ardent teetotaler to binge drinking!
My brother moved to Australia 10 years ago and he increased his salary by 500%. He’s now got a million dollar apartment and living the Aussie dream. Absolutely crazy!
For the low crime rate statistics, likely due to police resources being at an all time low, and people simply aren't being prosecuted for "non-fatal crimes". Basically burglaries are no longer being investigated, let alone reported, so there's a huge dip in what would normally be considered punishable offenses - with a focus instead on traffic crime, as these are usually low-effort (sit around with speed cameras) and high reward due to fines.
If you want a preview of how it will be, live inside the M25 for a year - indigenous UK ethnic people are less than 40% of the population ! You can walk down many high streets and see few white people and those that are white speak a foreign language.... I was recently complimented by a chap on a building site about how the way I speak is so clear, he asked me where I learned English. When I told him that I am English he couldn't quite grasp what I was saying - there are so few people who speak English as a first language, and fewer still whose English is not poluted by what is percieved to be American/West Indian slang. Immigrants are trying - and managing - to displace all the native people from our homeland. Some radical Muslims want to install a Sharia State situation.
@thakery5720 UK has no less native population % than other major European countries and immigrants are needed to cover your ageing population. Many immigrants come with degrees
@@bjrnthebootybandit - It’s damaging to the social fabric of the country, it’s as simple as that. It’s not all about GDP, despite what the government might say.
@@bjrnthebootybandit Many do ... but many also want to change the culture as well, if they don't like the English culture they should go back where they came from !
I think people can stand living in the UK if everything is working - low crime, affordable housing, NHS, good transport infrastructure. But now all those things are in serious decline, I think people are noticing just how grey and miserable this damp little island actually is…
Anyone who is young enough and has the skills that are wanted/needed in Australia and or NZ should say get the heck out. I retired in 2013 and left but to live next to only brother in a rural area near the sea (North Sea) in North Germany. Its still 99.9% German here with more retired Germans moving in after buying plots of land and building their houses. We are 90 kms from Bremen
This is no more England. So many good people are leaving. Just don’t make sense. This country is not run well and just change for everything. There’s no life.
@@Stephen-lx9nm In tech you'd be very lucky to get a week's annual leave and often you wouldn't even get your entire weekend to yourself. Many commenters on here don't seem to realize that the entire Western world is in a mess. The UK is actually relatively better than the rest.
@@Glenn-ei3xp You don't seem to have travelled much. I know single people working for Google in Sunnyvale on $200k who hardly save a penny and describe working conditions in the US as 'modern slavery'. Let's not even talk about the tent cities there. Canada is in an even worse state.
@@jimbocho660 ok, got nothing to do with me. Wrong part of the world. And I have travelled a lot. I’ve seen the hole that london now is. So get off your high horse. We all know that the UK is a complete joke these days.
All the Great empires have fallen. So is Great Britan doomed to fall from the first...I wonder which be the next Great empire to come but yeah it will fall too. History always repeats...🙃
I agree the tax burden is very high at present because we are paying back all the money dished out during Covid but overall it’s still not a bad place to be although not a great place to retire because of weather and tax burden. Better to take GBP elsewhere to retire on imo.
@@IncomeBoost42 also I don’t think it’s fair that having contributed all their lives pensioners still get income tax on their pension savings after retirement.
@@black0hat I’m in Australia. It has many advantages but the cost of living, lack of affordable rental accommodation and the West’s penchant to bring in new arrivals without first sorting out the infrastructure needs is upsetting However wages are high, weather is better and crime rates are low Sadly a lot worse than it was years back. That’s true everywhere
That depends a lot on your circumstances and preferences I’d say. Work opportunities is usually a major consideration unless you’re retired. For example many professionals of working age have moved to UAE while many retirees move to Thailand. Some prefer Portugal as it’s close to home. One thing for sure, it’s not a decision to take lightly and it’s important to research each option thoroughly.
As has every single race on the planet. What's your point? Go find everyone and punish them for things done before they were born? Your an idiot and a racist. Nothing more, take your 2 iq whining back to your corner and pretend someone cares.
Its not correct to state Tax is needed to pay for essential services. Many would be much cheaper and better if run by private companies...one notable exception would be the water supply which would be better off managed by the State but for normal things like roads, rubbish collection etc it's 30+% cheaper if farmed out directly to a private company. The govt adds unnecessary cost and bloat for most essential services
