Taxing pension income is a no go for this dude when many other states exclude all pension income from state taxes and they still have low property tax. Cool town though and I love visiting CO!
I guess it just all depends on what's most important to you for sure. I believe there are roughly 14 States that have no taxes on "Eligible" Pension Income which might make sense for some folks, IF they enjoy everything else about where they live. Many factors to consider for sure! : )
I’m exploring a move from Texas. I hear great things about Grand Junction and have family in Colorado Springs (out of my price range). I enjoy the slower pace that comes with a smaller town, but with that said, there doesn’t seem to be many jobs. Maybe remote work is something to consider? I’m open-minded
We've helped a TON of remote workers! That said, we do have pretty robust Aerospace, Tech, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Education and many other industries.
I like that Grand Junction leans conservative -- Mesa County even more so (better) -- but am a bit concerned about crime stats (property crime is high). -- BR
I would take those "stats" with a grain of salt as we're a very small town and those numbers can be misleading. If you're in a town of 2 people, and 1 person steals a pack of gum, your crime stat is 50%. We've never had an issue in 40 years (for Christie) and 20 for myself. Nor has anybody we know. 👍
@@LivinginGrandJunctionColorado That's encouraging to know... FYI, got my stats on (Sperling's) BestPlacesNet looking up Grand Junction for assorted information -- political environment, demographics and crime being 3 important points of interest. -- BR
I can tell you why we moved here from Houston. The first 10 minutes of every newscast was reporting on the day's shootings and murders. In our own neighborhood, there were 2 murders in the last 5 years or so. The traffic is also horrendous. There's little respect for the environment. Houston is flat and ugly compared to the Grand Valley. You were dead on about the weather and humidity. After living through several hurricanes, we had had enough of that too.
