Oh I wasn't aware but my fantasy-horror campaign is partwise a Soap Opera - relations are all and last time one of the PCs just married - His wife is an aspirant to the imperial throne, in hiding for 10 years... and things are heating up as in two months the new empror shall be crowned. Do the PCs become Emperor makers or perish trying to do so? Stay tuned for the next episdoe(s).

Well I have to admit I grew up with a mother (Swiss) but knowing Portugese and looking Telenovelas - so I think this had an influence on me and I wasn't even aware of this subcunscious inspiration. Now I also realize one of the PCs, a woman (PC and player) was searching for her lost twin-sisters who rules know in her stead as banneret but has become a countess who was attending the marriage. As I said Soap Operas rule!

Im not sure about full soap opera but for sure most games benefit from getting away from combat heavy minimax. It should be more about role-playing and being in character

The level can be adjusted to specific needs.

I wonder if crunch is part of tge problem. Lots of systems have hundred of pages of rules that maybe encourages gaming rather than role-playing. What do you think?

@@xr33tk It believe that can be a big part of the problem. I never liked crunchy rules and always chose games based on their setting first.
