On this episode of bashing Pokemon Sword and Shield, we discuss a game that many people seem to have forgotten, but I think is highly underrated... Follow me on Social: / gireumnewtown
Gamefreak was lazy to set a follow speed instead they made the speed of the pokemon match their run animation frames so pokemon with less frames are absurdly slow
For the catching, I actually liked it, but wished it didn’t just replace combat. It would be cool if combat was normal, but when you caught a pokèmon you could use the controls
@@Bigchannel34no you don’t need this stupid ball to level up it was just a „here buy it because it’s useless and we want your money 💰😉“ so no you don’t need this stupid ball unless you really want Mew but i never got this ball but remember that Gamefreak said in Sword and Shield that they cut the national dex to „make better animations“ wich was a lie because the animations are the exactly the same as in Sun and Moon so wtf is your point?
@@MedokaLightning wtf is my point? First off I don't know you so watch how you talk to people. Secondly my point is that you need to learn grammar cause your run on sentence was impossible to read
No I'm not saying this game is better than masterpieces like HeartGold and SoulSilver or Black and White 2. Hope you enjoy the video though! EDIT: I had no idea what "Genwunner" mean, and still don't know what it means
This isn’t even mentioning that they added Physical/Special split, Megaevolutions and Alola forms into the game to bring a new spin on an otherwise amazing game. These kind of details made it have a breath of fresh air that even Gen 3 remakes lacked.
While I appreciated the additions of Alola and Mega Forms, it feels a bit awkward that they didn't at least add the gen 2 and gen 4 evolutions of Kanto Pokemon.
@@MannyBoy96 Yea, I agree. It's kinda weird when HeartGold and SoulSilver manages to add a few of the Gen 4 evolutions for the regional dex, but not this. Sure, all of the Gen 4 evolutions included in the new Johto dex evolves from moves, so they can't really circumvent it except for Magnezone and such, but at least having Crobat, Slowking, Hitmontop, Electivire, Magmortar, Steelix, Rhyperior, Magnezone, Hitmontop, Porygon2 and Z, Blissey, Kingdra, any Eeveelutions outside of Gen 2, and more that I probably forget can diversify the variety of Kanto teams a bit.
Don't worry you're not alone. I have zero nostalgia for Gen 1, and I also enjoyed Let's Go Eevee WAY more then Sword & Shield. Awesome video, love your editing style, keep it up!
I have like 10% nostalgia for gen 1 but that's only because it's been crammed down our throats so many god damn times. Hey gamefreak how about you give Johto and Hoenn the Let's GO treatment.
You're so right. Dammit, now I'm dying to play Lets Go P/E. Sure, you're limited to the 151 Pokemon, but there's clearly more attention and care given to make them feel more animated and unique, especially when they follow you around. I love how you can ride Snorlax in what is clearly a shout out to Studio Ghibli's My Neighbor Totoro. Both this and BDSP were nostalgia-baiting, obvious cash grabs, but Let's Go P/E were remakes of YELLOW (aka, the BETTER Blue and Red version) while BDSP were DIAMOND AND PEARL remakes and not PLATINUM (aka, the BETTER Diamond and Pearl). If we actually get a Johto version of Let's Go, I'll toss BDSP into a garbage bin and buy Let's Go Johto midnight release.
Being limited to 151 pokemon helped the game tremendously. It made it so that GF were able to make that specific 151 feel more alive than they have in any other game. The pokemon in LGPE feel the most alive than they have in any other pokemon game
Yellow was technically "The special edition" like Silver ane Emerald, etc... but Gen 1 was before Special editions were normalized and Yellow was pretty bad all around. Originally it was only intended to be Red and Blue and originally there was no anime, also it was released at the endo f the Gameboy lifespan before GBC came in so it was expected to possibly be a flop. Pokemon Yellow only came about because the game wasn't a flop and the anime had really take off and everyone loved Jesse and James and kids were wiashing the game would be more like the anime with starting off with a Pikachu. I remember kids on the playground at school saying that. GameFreak listened and by then the GBC had released so Gamefreak quickly rushed Pokemon Yellow out which gave kids exactly what they hoped, Pokemon Red & Blue, but it's similar to the anime with Jessie & James and your late so you get a Pikachu. They also rushed in some sort of hack to get basic colors in. It wasn't thought out too well and it was very rushed, the colors were kind of bad, Jessie and James weren't fully in and still just normal Team Rocket Grunts, and Pikachu makes a horrible starter Pokemon. Lets Go fixed this by making Pikachu have perfect IVs and unique moves and made him feel more like an actual starter companion and they properly brought in Jessie and James fully.
I actually really liked the graphics in let’s go. I don’t want Pokémon to keep moving towards realism, I think the cartoonish style really fits well with Pokémon. I didn’t like the graphics and sword and shield cause it felt like they’re trying too hard to make it look “good” aka realistic
I TOTALLY agree. A realistic graphic isn't a good graphic and SwSh demonstrates it. Also, many pokemon got they're colors washed in 3D generations (just look at Starmie, it's more grey than purple) and LGPE were the only one to show us a really colorful world, without failed attempts of detailed textures and washed colors
I don't mind realistically styled pokemon; the issue is that Let's Go's graphics look clean while SwSh's graphics definitely do not. Simple and clean will always look better than detailed and messy.
The Let's Go games graphically look like a natural progression from their DS and 3DS counterparts. The artstyle is sublime and unmistakenly pokemon, with the new animations of pokemon in the overworld really bringing back character to the franchise's titular beings. No overly convoluted yet stupidly simple plot, no dlc expansions to the game to flesh it out and no absurd battle gimmick that gets tiring after 10 same-y feeling battles. I was really hoping that Let's Go would be a glimpse of what was to come and that the problems such as the "babified" battle mechanics and lack of held items would just be for these inbetween generation titles. But I don't see how Sw/Sh is any different. They're just as ample examples of "baby's first pokemon game," where the only challenge is if you make strict rules to restrict yourself or hack to turn the exp share off. I think upon initial review, everyone was jaded by the Let's Go series because they weren't the big leap forward in gameplay everyone was expecting. I would argue that X/Y and Sw/Sh were leaps backwards in gameplay, with Sun/Moon at least attempting to have a different formula and stand out in what is now 8 generations of the same core gameplay. The Let's Go series and the development behind it has since aged gracefully when compared to it's other Switch counterpart.
@@sackthebastard Didn't realize my rant would be marked like an english essay. My point was that after around 10 battles that are interchangeable in scope, gameplay and difficulty when using Z-moves, mega evolution or dynamax the gimmick loses all of its charm. I didn't think they were really game changing or a very memorable part of each title.
I played Ultra Moon before I played Sword because I skipped out on Gen 7, and while yes Gen 7 had sorta linear routes they at least look so millions of times better than SWSH’s route designs. Plus, Gen 7 was actually impressive. Going from chibi models in XY to full proportioned models in SU is actually impressive. And it’s on the 3DS. I guess let’s hope that the same thing that happened with Gen 4 to Gen 5 and Gen 6 to Gen 7 happens (in that the second generation on a new console is leagues better than the first)
I feel like where Pokémon messed up with Let’s Go was getting rid of the wild battles. Tbh the whole motion control to throw a poke ball thing never bothered me because I could always just click A and it threw the ball. I just wish we could battle the Pokémon till it fainted and then tried to catch it that way. It would make more sense as to why our Pokémon get experience from catching Pokémon too. But I 1000% agree with the art style thing. Sword and Shield aren’t bad artistically but Let’s Go just felt like it had way more character and in turn felt like a better video game and more natural for a Pokémon Game. Having the normal looking people in Sword and Shield felt really awkward especially without any voice acting. In let’s go no voice acting to me felt like it wasn’t as big a deal because the character models looked more toy-ish. They could always improve the lighting and when they added in voice acting then progressed to more realistic proportions for the character models. It’s also the lack of sound improvements in the games that bother me. The music composition is great and all. But them not having voice acting, or like Pokémon cries for when they get hit or faint that aren’t just pitch changes or tempo alterations really make the games feel dated. They’ve never added to the sounds of the game to make it feel more next gen or new. It’s a bunch of jingles and battle themes.
Uh, no they weren't, the art style is a step back from Sun and Moon, there were no new animations or models, and no, SwSh isn't babies first Pokemon, Let's Go is, Better more mature art style, an actual more comfortable control scheme, seriously, Skyward Sword was more comfortable than Let's Go In The Trash Sword and Shield is amazing, your just salty about the national dex and whining about trees and other nonsense that no normal person would care about
Im not so suprised anymore, GameFreak is known for just randomly throwing out something they got right and everyone loved. Like the time they worked hard on polishing and polishing the online functionality over a few games and getting it almost perfect in X & Y before throwing it out completley in Sun and Moon. Sword and Shield was a step up, but still pretty awful. Like, what happened, why didnt you just keep polishing it, why did you start over? Lets Go had actual flying and air battles, why did they throw that out? Lets Go also had pretty cool abilities to ride/fly on pokemon and poekmon follow you and stuff. I wish they would just focus on quality and keeping things people loved nsteado this weird resets liek they completely forgot these random features and are having to re-learn how to implement them. It's weird.
Did anyone notice how beautiful the grass is in let's go. The first time I played sword and shield the first thing I noticed was the grass. Hey if the grass is beautiful in the sinnoh remakes I'll play it
My biggest problem with the Lets go Games are that newer evolutions of Kanto Mons are missing. I understand, that they didn‘t want to add all Pokemon until Gen 7. However, Pokemon like Steelix, Kingdra or Porygon-Z would have improved the Pokemon Pool immensely.
The best part of Pokémon Pee V was going back to the gyms and fighting them when they are stronger. It makes it feel real and not make the gym leaders feel like a random npc
That's why Emerald's Pokenav is so good 😁 You get to rebattle the gym leaders and the trainers all over the region as they grow and develop their teams. And they're a fun way to grind Pokémon too.
@@rewrose2838 What do you think about the VS Recorder though, I feel that's a better way for rematches as you can choose when and where to do them, although I agree FRLG could've had Gym Leader rematches, just like DPPt later on (or was it just Platinum?).
I've grown up with the new ones since 2006 and I'll admit I used to like them before I played fire red on emulator and emerald on an emulator I even started playing emerald again sparsely
One of my favorite parts in this game, is the fact that pokemon have different sized. Now, I know this is a minor thing to most people, but to me it adds depth. Not only having them in battles but their actual height and weights. In all pokemon games, they're all the same height and weight. Every charizard you catch is going to be 5'7 and weighting 200 pounds, but not in let's go. You can either get a 8'7 charizard or one that's 4ft and it just makes your pokemon more special (well to me). I mean, Imagine someone trying to ride a 4ft charizard. Also, it's like my way of shiny hunting (but not as time consuming). Now this is easier then shiny hunting, but even if I did catch a large pokemon, there's a chance I could get a larger one. For example, I thought all extra large pokemon are 33% taller/longer but then I found out recently that it could go over 50%. Maybe even higher. Who knows. There's just so many variations. Another thing, is that pokemon that you feel should be taller/shorter, can be. That 9ft charizard we all wished we had? Boom, now you do. A pidgey who's 6 inches tall that you want on your shoulder? Yeah it exist now. Nidoking being 8ft? Well, okay I don't know if it can go that tall, but it might happened. Also, if Johto remakes of let's go come out, I definitely going to catch a 9ft tall furret.
I really enjoyed LetsGo. Seeing the sizes of the pokemon is really cool. Had funny moments where i was fighting against Rocket Grunts with their Rattatas with my big boi Blastoise.
When I saw the cutscene of cubone and its mother I actually started crying. I remember being so sad to me when I played that storyline in leaf green as a kid. Seeing that they made a full-on cutscene for that story was an incredible feeling. Not my favorite pokemon game but I liked it more than Sword and Shield. I remember going on to my friend about how the art style in Let's Go was better. I do agree that they tried to make Sword and Shield look too realistic.
Having shinies spawning in the overworld and more common made me enjoy shiny hunting alot more and always made going through random areas possibly exciting .
Yeah. I like let’s go. I did some hunting in it for a while, but eventually not being able to use the pro controller got to me. My drift was getting really bad and I couldn’t play let’s go anymore unfortunately.
@@neptune7872 yep the drifting problem is honestly ridiculous and has made a lot of moments impossible for me to enjoy because it just ruins the experience completely. The last thing you want in a game is to have your control over it taken away because of some dumb malfunction to the fault of the developers.
I had no idea Mina was in this game wtf LOL Very compelling arguments. I feel the hyper casualization of the game really does hold it back a lot, but I really do appreciate what they did with the Pokemon. Follow Pokemon was my absolute favorite part about the game and it made it an absolute joy to travel around with them.
I think they marketed this game a bit wrong as well. It did seem like "Baby's first pokemon game" just from the boxart and trailers. The game is way deeper than it seems in my opinion.
Let's Go Jhoto. Man, I really really wish they did the Gold/Silver/Crystal version in the Let's Go style. I would love to have both Kanto and Jhoto regions, have the 250 plus pokemon, capable of following you around the map, with large size/actual scale pokemon, and co-op.
Gireum, my dude, you absolutely NAILED THIS. I own and traded Pokemon Sword today for Let's go Eevee after owning it for a year, feeling the EXACT same cons and rush job "poorly made burger" lmao. Very excited to relive this re-imagined masterpiece of Red/Blue/Yellow... and by the way, you should mention... co-op! Me and my gf can actually play Let's Go together which is pretty unique. Clever video direction, excellent laid out points that the world of Pokemon would be a better place understanding this masterpiece, short, in-depth review... kinda like what pokemon sword 2 should be.
I’m about to get let’s go pikachu , my son lost my shield like a year ago and I found it and he is playing it and 400 Pokémon which 90% I’m not using doesn’t really appeal to me, plus most of my favorite Pokémon are kanto so I’m getting let’s go instead of sword
Update, 1 week later, Pokemon Let's Go has been a nostalgic trip. Co-op is an understatement.. if you have a childhood friend, and you both loved red or blue... this is the game for you... Disclaimer.. put the starting pokemon right in the pc box right at lvl 5 to have a challenge in this game. The catching pokemon mechanic is actually pretty cool, first time I'm throwing a pokeball, and its chill. 5/5 Swap Sword/Shield for Let's Go
I’ve played every main series game, and I’ve tolerated dragging my way through the dialogue box stories and and dead-eye character models from Kalos, Alola and Galar, but playing Let’s Go was something special. I wasn’t hyped for the game whatsoever, but it was the first time I played Pokémon on my TV. I could use one JoyCon so another hand was free; I could throw Pokeballs to catch my favourite Pokémon; it was easier than ever to “catch ‘em all”; my Pokémon came with me from carrying a PC in my pocket to flying on my Charizard and all the Pokémon were out in the open for me to see. The story was a rehash of Yellow in many ways, but boy was it enjoyable.
It was suuuuper enjoyable to me for the fact that it actually feels like you own every pokemon you catch in this game, purely because of the following and (albeit minor) interaction mechanic. It makes filling the dex much more satisfying and catching rare spawns or shinies feel more like a real accomplishment. Also personally love riding persian as its been a long time favorite of mine and never got that much appreciation, so its utilization in this game was a big up for me.
i'm so glad you made this video, because i feel the exact same way. also, one thing i want to add is that the newer games feel like games with pokemon in them, this felt like a pokemon game. the calm, soothing nature of the capture system, the phenomenal soundtrack, the smooth af battle transitions, the fact that it had an actual map as opposed to being a walking simulator, it all brought me back to when i didn't care about running shadow ball on gengar (it was a physical move in gens 1-3), to before i memorized base stats and abilities, to before i gave a shit about competitive. it felt like i was playing a pokemon game, and that's all i really want out of this franchise.
And give you the option to select which style of catching pokémon you want to play, the one from Pokémon Go, or the original. With these three things, Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee would be PERFECT
“Cutting down on the Pokemon to make them feel more alive” I’ve been saying this for a while: GameFreak should’ve used Dexit to work on A. Improving battle animations B. Adding in follow and ride pokemon If they had worked on improved Battle animations for the OG 151 they would already have a sizable chunk of monsters and attacks better animated. Not to mention that they would’ve had 151 Pokemon available for you to ride. But no they took the chance to be fucking lazy. And considering how well SwSh sold they know that they don’t have to try and put it in effort. I bought SwSh and honestly unless I see major sizable improvements in the next Gen (as in the game is on par with Dragon Quest 11 or BOTW), I ain’t getting it.
Personally while I would still like a full roster, if they had just made it a quality similar to Zelda and Mario in Switch, I would've respected their decision for the cut (although HOME would've still be schemy) - I keep on asking this question to those who doesn't care about the sacrifices made, why aren't more demanding for higher quality than it being "the best Pokemon game since Gen 5", when if they made these risky sacrifices, it really should be the best core series games as of now IMO?
@@zjzr08 I think the main issue is The Pokemon Company. They want GameFreak to release a new game yearly because with new games, new Pokémon, with new Pokémon, new merchandise, TCG, anime, etc. Pokémon as a brand sadly is in a position where they need the games to be able to continue and I think that that really fucking sucks. I also think that it’s TPC’s decisions for making the DLC cost 30$, making Pokémon Home a overpriced subscription based service that still requires a subscription Pokémon Bank if you wanna send over your Gen 7 and below mons. Oh and the stupid decision to split Home into two applications (switch and mobile) with different functions. Now that’s not to say that GameFreak isn’t at fault here. Junichi Masuda’s philosophy on “kids are too busy to play our games/ the battle frontier” is really detrimental. It shows genuine lack of faith in your gameplay... so why not reinvent it? I get that you kinda couldn’t do a open world type game on the 3DS but we’re on the switch now.
@@Lunarose17 We're still not sure if TPC or Game Freak is the one doing it, but we have to remember TPC is a three headed hydra, and Game Freak is one of it's heads. Either way, I feel Game Freak could've done something if they really were pressed. Sure the other media would be affected but I felt if they knew things would've been rushed, they probably should asked for an extension much earlier. Animal Crossing was given a delay, I think it would've been better as a Pokemon fan if Animal Crossing released as meant and just release free DLC while Pokemon was given more time instead IMO.
@@zjzr08 ah fack I forgot to add to the end of my comment that TPC being behind this was my theory, my bad mate! I agree with you, I do think that GameFreak knows that SWSH was rushed and I hope that they can get more time to work on the next game and iterate on what SWSH did good, especially the DLC.
@@Lunarose17 I'm just concerned because stuff that seems deliberate (difficulty and depth) seems to imply they may be fine about casualizing the games now, when main story Pokemon is already pretty casual. Like, who in the world thinks forcing Exp Share on 1 vs. 1 battles make sense? Other RPGs that do that usually has the whole party be battling at least. I get some feel like they're quality improvements but some I feel break the game (like why is the PC mobile now, isn't part of the challenge the city to city survival using 6 Pokemon?).
I think that's actually why I like ORAS's environments so far (playing it for the first time atm) as well - the whole world and map design takes after the original 2D gen 3 games, _not_ after the modern "design ethos" Game Freak has going on - so even though Hoenn is large, individual areas are more "cramped" and densely packed; there's just no massive open spaces for no reason. ... Saying it like this - that's not a 3D problem at all. That's just a modern Pokémon problem.
I used to hate this game, espacially when they were announced, but now, after sword and shield's dissaster they aren't as bad as I thought, the pokemon go mechanics where annoying but it's a fun game for casuals and perfect for people that never played a pokemon game outside of gen 1
I really wanna see more love put into swsh. I personally don’t like Pokémon let’s go because it’s not as open or detailed as other games? Like not in graphics but how towns look and routes look. If Pokémon put more work into the graphics, battle micanics, and ANIMATIONS, then I would love it! (I really love the idea of an open world)
@@zjzr08 I absolutely hate the 3ds gamessss (except bw and sm) cause they feel so secluded ! Like I’d rather be in a city then littleroot town or really any place from let’s go 💀
@@hexmonalisa2051 yeah it makes sense that people might not like lets go if they didnt like the previous gens design wise, its a preetty faithful remake of kanto so the routes didnt get much rework and the towns remained simple, albeit with more small details. Its true that the game appears smaller and blockier in comparison to other gens.
"What can Gamefreak learn from this game?" Nothing. They don't care about quality, only quantity. Of the money they get. The only reason they put more "effort" into these games was so they could hook Genwunners and possibly other people more easily. Why else do you think Sword and Shield came out the way they did? It wasn't Gen 1, so it isn't worth the time...As is anything in this series with them, really.
I think this games art style is pretty much the perfect way to go with pokemon games, I would love it if they did another lets go with the gold and silver games. Hopefully if they do they add in that extra character development and some more endgame stuff to do.
Man, when you mentioned the lackluster mines in Galar, that hit home cuz I was so excited to explore them the first time but was so disappointed they had nothing in there besides a few trainer battles
I personally LOVED this game. The music, the style, it gave me that same nostalgic feeling as if I were a kid again playing Pokémon. Coming from very a small, lonely & isolating town with long winters this game sure kept me busy for up to 2 years, so it'll always be special to me & I hope to see a new Let's Go down the road
At long last I’ve finally met someone else who agrees Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee are the best “Modern” games. Nowadays, it’s debatable cuz of Legends Arceus, but I still really like Let’s Go. I also really agree with basically all your points. The game has a few noticeable flaws, but it’s positives outweigh them, and those positives are crucial parts of the series that other modern games have failed to do, such as making it feel alive, not being uncanny, having a good amount of content, and generally being fun. Btw nice Halloween reference at 8:25
ah and one more thing you forget to mention. The soundtrack in these games is so good! It's like the perfect remaked soundtrack for the time these games were developed in. It feels really refreshing. I hope they don't fuck up the Gen4 remake tracks. If they would sound like Let's Go it would be perfect imo
@@GireumRed and that's considered a fact! nah for real tho. Im just hoping that Gen4 will be a remake they cannot really fuck up cause the music is already set! Like you mentioned in the video. There is no pressure to create something new when it comes to map design. They just have to make a orchestral version. But in general pokemon music is something you cannot really blame about even if I didn't really like the 7 and 8 gen music except for a few tracks This is the one consistent parts of pokemon. I think a really good example of what Gen4 remakes could sounds like is "insaneintherainmusic". I think most of pokemon fans know carlos. He's doing a really good job.
It`s honestly pretty good. It can even be fairly challanging if you avoid candy training, excessive catching and put your partner pokemon out of the party.
A really good review of the game. As someone interested in whether or not to buy it months after release, and also being a Pokémon veteran with lots of feelings of nostalgia for the original generation, you helped answer all of my questions as far as whether another remake of Kanto would be worth playing through. Almost certainly will buy it.
This didn't age too well on the Diamond/Pearl remakes hopes lol But I agree that this is the best modern Pokemon game. Too bad I'm forced to use heavily DRIFTING joycons so I can't finish the game
Ignore the haters, they're just the ones being babies, I love the great points you make and I wanna see more videos like this in the future, maybe make a video going over a Pokemon game you'd like and what you'd put in it
Well, Rescue Team DX is part of the Mystery Dungeon series, which is easily one of the most popular spinoff series. I would say that all the Mystery Dungeon games have certain advantages over the mainline games; the music is consistently amazing, and their post-games actually have storylines that you don’t have to pay for. The games tend to be more story-driven in general, actually, with some legitimately emotional moments. But back to Rescue Team DX, it’s a remake of the original Rescue Team. It adopted a unique aesthetic that I can’t quite describe(save that I personally prefer it to SwSh), and it’s gameplay is pretty polished. Admittedly, that gameplay isn’t for everyone; it involves randomly generated dungeons, which I’ve heard people call repetitive. Still, if you’re interested, DX is a great introduction to the series(just be warned: if you ever review it, fans will probably want you to look at Explorers of Sky).
@@GireumRed You should play the older PMD games like Explorer of Sky, Gates to Infinity, and Super Mystery Dungeon as well if you enjoyed Rescue Team DX.
One thing you forgot to mention is the coop system the game introduced. While some may hate it, I personally really enjoy it, since you can work together to catch pokemon or gang up on a trainer, it makes the game feel more alive to me. It also allows me to introduce my younger siblings to the game without dumping too much info on them and causing them unneeded stress from losing without knowing anything, I can introduce to the mechanics in a nice and slow way while also making some nice memories having a pokemon journey at the same time.
2 good opinion pokemon videos in a row, nicely done. I felt the same way, was pleasantly surprised and had tons of fun with LGP and not a lot of fun at all with SwSh.
yo this video made me get the new OLED switch in anticipation of Pokemon Legends: Arceus not being my speed. In which case, at least I get to revisit a familiar experience with a fresh take. great video, earned another sub friend!
The burger premise was laughs good stuff brother thank you for the video. I havnt played Pokémon since game boy.. so this is kind of foreign to me. I. Was wanting that old gameplay experience on my switch.. glad I didn’t just grab any random Pokémon game. I can’t wait to purchase GO this week. Thanks !
One small thing I wish we got is the dex expansion for Pokémon that got new evolutions. Not a major complaint but it would have been cool to see stuff such as a Magmortar in Kanto.
I really like that let’s go remade Koga’s gym to actually be a poison gym. I was surprised that this wasn’t done in FRLG but ig they were too focused on recreating everything from RB. One thing I felt Let’s go missed out on was having an expanded Kanto dex that included all the new evolutions for Kanto Pokémon such as Scyther, I think it would have made the game feel more fresh and it probably wouldn’t be hard to animate those Pokémon. I also feel like if they did an expanded Kanto dex they should add the Togepi line as an anime reference and Koga should’ve had a haunter or Gengar on his team because they are pokemon that lurk in the shadows, perfect for a ninja.
Honestly Gamefreak has no excuse to not actually put effort and time into a large open world Pokémon game with improved AI and immersive features. I hope Legends: Arceus lives up to that
i totally agree with everything you said here. i really hope we get a second set of let's go games for gen 2. the only major change i would make for the second games is to bring back wild battles. i don't mind the new wild encounters and that being an option, but i also would still like to battle them if i choose. then we could make a hard capture easy by weakening it like in the main series if we choose.
Lets go looks very polished, runs good and hust pleasing to the eye. Also, alolan forms are in the game so in reality, there are more than 151 pokemon in the game.
I'm excited for scarlet and violet, however I am worried. Lots of people that got to play early are like "finally we step away from linear routes" but all I see is open empty areas with towns and stuff, with routes like in lets go they can put more effort in the details and make it feel more alive
This video made me appreciate the let's go games more and realize that they're better than I originally thought. Also that comparison between Kanto and Michael Myers and how they don't die and keep coming back was hilarious.
i have the exact sema opinion as u, i didnt like the lets go cuz of the fact u cant play w the controller when u playin on a tv, i didnt like the catching method but now i remember how "immersive" in the game i was when i moved my arm and pretended to throw my pokeball plus, the flying with dragonite or charizard its still kinda bad cuz u keep on hitting stuff every 10 sec, but the trading method is awful
Eh let's face it, people will stop thrashing SwSh and think it wasn't that bad as soon as Game Freak releases another generation of games, it's been like that since Black & White, the Pokémon fanbase is just the Bring Me The Horizon fanbase but bigger and more annoying.
You said in a previous video that the 'Old gen' games ended at 'Black and White' and 'Black 2 and White 2'. I was wondering if you have considered doing a analysis of these games, maybe alongside the newer ones to see what should be brought back, what should change and what is fine as is? (Also because B/W are my favorite games, just slightly ahead of HG/SS)
I like this review. You explain everything about the games, pitch in your opinion but still present the pros and cons fairly. I wasn't sure about getting it, but now I'm interested. The controller thing kinda sucks tho ngl. Also in SwSh the pokémons just randomly pop from the ground when you get close enough and disappear if you move away. Empty grass with 70 machokes spawning out of nowhere really kills the immersion.
I think actually reasonably being able to catch them all for the first time in many generations shouldn’t be overlooked. Yes technically you could in other generation but it takes an insane amount of dedication and for some games is just plain impossible when they require trading. But with how easy it is to trade in let’s go it’s actually not hard and in a series which catch line is gotta catch them all actually being able to catch them all is super satisfying and makes the game feel more complete. Future games should take this idea.
If they just do a gold remake without the Pokémon GO catch mechanics in the style of let’s go, that would would be the best game. I hate the realistic route they have been taking.
I enjoyed Lets Go so much more than Sw/Sh. It felt much more fresh. The local co-op although making the game stupid easy. I wish could come back with a few tweaks. Like at least make all battles double battles. Rather than 2 on 1 Game Freak. Going through Kanto with a friend on the sofa was such fun. I really missed that aspect in Sw/Sh.
I love seeing these videos cause it gives me hope that maybe people will start to raise there standards soon and we can get some new GOOD pokemon games.
