Squad would be way better than PR if it had Transport helicopters, cas, tanks/apc, 100 player server, and finally a bigger map to go with all of these. But right now I think Pr has a more diverse game with these factors.

Because there are players I have known for the last 10 years. Also because I can drink vodka and zip RPGs at random pixels while standing on a cashe.

I've been playing PR for 3, almost 4 years now. I started playing it thanks to Ralfidude's "Shits n giggles". I saw a clip from these series, where he's just sitting in an alley with his squad, and, out of nowhere, this guy with no kit shows up in the main street, and starts walking towards the fire, blaring some kind of "Ice cream van" song, and I just thought, I need to try this game. 4 years later, I find myself on my university break, the first semester has just ended, and I'm dying to play PR again. Studies and social life keep me from playing PR, due to the amount of time you need to dedicate to the game, but now, I'm just dying to play, mainly because of the community, the teamwork, and what LightandQuite said at 2:41. The community's better, because there aren't many kids to shit it up.

Do you really wanna know why? Because PR has a 50vs50 player server. While other war era FPS games has a lower player cap and less vehicle count. I answered your question.

I play since 0.85! Best game ever! It was so sneaky and real when i played it for the first time for several hours with other players. Now i know all the maps, but its so unique, cause every Squadleader has his own tactics and strategy what makes it different! Its about winning as as Squad, as a team. Not killing others for points and unlocking weapons like other casual FPS. Squad also looks good, but its an Alpha atm. They have already done a good job so far, but wait until there is more content :-). I never play any other game these days for several hours! I love it :-)

PR is about as milsim as you can get while still being easy to just pick up and play whenever you feel like it. Arma can be more realistic, but you either have to play with a group at specific times or deal with frame rate drops or any number of other inconveniences, all the while PR is just there, good to go.

Great video! Nice balance of interesting perspectives and fun moments. My $0.02 -- PR is one of the few FPS games where your mind can be one of your greatest weapons; taking a defensive posture below the crest of the hill, killing the enemy as they move past you with grenades and sudden fire rather than rushing at them and expecting to respawn because you didn't kill the LAV alone because it isn't BF4 ;D

So let me bring this up to you ... Project Reality , It's not quit famous and that's the only reason it doesn't have that much of expected to be players , But it got more than enough players and the community ... uhh many the community is something else like it have one of the best communities was and will be ...basically what I am trying to say that there is nothing like Project Reality .. there is only one thing and it's project reality like project reality , squad is like an graphically improved with more improved features rather than that nothing more special ( Except the way the spawn and death system works which really sucks an ass in Project Reality [ It's not bad but Squad has beaten the shit out of Project Reality when it comes to spawn and death system ] ) It's just PROJECT REALITY , Nothing else .

I'm a relatively new player about 3 or 4 months and I play this game for the same reason as everyone of these guys (and it's not pr without the the fistfights with teammates only pr players will know this)

Project reality is great only if you have a great squad/team. 7/10 of rounds are totally one sided, which is quite infuriating. But I still enjoy playing than most modern titles...

What makes PR so great imo is that the game found the perfect balance between complexity and easy playablity. The Arma series is really off putting to me because of the clunky menus for everything, PR on the other hand utilizes BF2's commorose menus perfectly and makes all sorts of interactions quick and easy. The beauty and brilliance of the game is that the underlying mechanics are simple enough but allow for extremely complex and diverse scenarios to develop once human interaction comes into play. The logistics system is a prime example of this: The mechanics of getting supplies and building a FOB are super easy to grasp. But because players are (almost) completely free in deciding where to put their FOBs, every round turns out different. Whenever there is a flag that turns into a meatgrinder for both teams, the team that successfully finds and destroys the enemy FOB(s) supporting it is going to capture it. And when the team that just lost the flag forgot to secure their backwards flags with good supporting FOBs, it will get steamrolled. Super simple game mechanic that brings immense strategic value to the game. Same for vehicles: Yes, armored vehicles are extremely deadly against infantry, especially at range. But they are also vulnerable to ATGMs, other vehicles, CAS. This forces at least some level of combined arms gameplay, as you are always dependent on your team doing their job. If your team loses all its armor and CAS, you are fucked, because now the enemy armor can be much more aggressive and focus solely on infantry and logistics. Which in turn forces your entire team to start digging in and stay defensive for a while ... unless you have a really good sneaky squad managing to avoid the enemy vehicles and operate behind their lines. Vehicles are completely useless without communications and coordination. Which brings us to infantry. Sure, experienced players can play more aggressively, but for the most part in firefights you are heavily dependent on good cover, because players are not bullet sponges and go down in 2-3 hits. Depending on your objective, it is often better to not engage enemies you spotted, but to avoid them and stay out of sight. Pick your fights, make sure you can win them, or stay silent. Even when already engaged in firefights with an open outcome, it is often a good idea to break contact, regroup, and focus on the objective at hand rather than getting caught up in the firefight and losing half your squad. These are decisions that have to be made on the fly. Assess the situation and react accordingly. All of this only works because players follow the very basic rules: Know your role, play together as a squad, play together as a team. Teamwork trumps individual skill.

I've been playing PR like for 2 years now and i find PR really compensating when you win a match or even kill an enemy that had you over cover fire like for 5 minutes, including that in vehicle squads you have to rely ALOT in teamwork, its not like in BF4 or even ARMA that you just get in the tank and you can just drive it and use the cannon as well, no you have to get a driver a gunner and maybe a machinegunner ontop. Then the community is a pretty mixed up group of nice people, ass holes, noobs and even competitive clans but the good thing, is that those numbers of people are balanced because if you have a game that has alot of competitive players its going to become edgy, ass holes are just going to scare off the noobs andthe noobs are just going to make that game look like some sort of CS 1.6 . Its the game that i've been dreaming for since 2009 the year i started to get in the gaming community more often.

What is the music track in background?

The 0.5 trailer music brought tears to my eyes. It seems like yesterday yet so much time has passed. This mod has basically shaped my adolescence. So many memories.

I love PR, definitely in the top 10 best games I've played, but another game I love is *Arma 2*, specifically the *Capture the Island* mode which is probably the best mix of RTS and FPS. Unlike PR, this mode is dying in agony right now and that bothers me a lot.

Everything is true in this video! It was a great game, based on the modern realism of the fights. The community is there fantastic. The dumping is complete. I am the leader IIGaryII of the team #Eagle. My team and I even spent our best years of gamers on this mod of BF2. We crossed the updates v0.3 to v1.0. In spite of the old age of the graphic engine, we even made a return in source on v1.3 and v1.4 ! I take advantage of it to thank all the programmers and all the players of this game, whom we can even play today, for free. "Squad" is the natural result, because it is based on the same philosophy. I look forward to that it progresses, for my team can if to put back completely, again. See you ;)

damn, best game on earth. Playing since '08, still love it. I tryed out Arma, Squad, basiclly every fps- get lost , nothing comes even close to Project Reality in terms of epicness, adrenaline, Teamwork, meeting folks from around the globe! fucking best community you can have in a game.

When I started to play PR it was on version 1.2 and for me it is the best game I have ever played. I have so many round with amazing people who actually make the game better. It all started with my curiosity on a youtube video and continue to the best gaming experience I've ever had. Why? Because this game provoke people to play together in order to achieve their goal, just like in life. Sometimes you can't do it by yourself. You will learn so much on how to talk with people and also how to lead them if you want to be a squad leader. And of course ir gives unique milsim gaming experience that everyone enjoy.

What reels me in to this game is the accuracy of the models of weapons, the reloads, the 'weapon sway', the factions with their uniforms and weapons allocated for each role, the numerous roles, the vehicles, complete lack of CoD or Battlefield style of gameplay, complete focus on teamwork and objectives, unique gameplay and playstyle etc. Basically the whole game. After I watch a video of how rebels and insurgents fight their real life war, I can attempt to recreate it with this game (but of course irl is different). This game has the most realistic gameplay I've ever experienced.

I have been playing PR since ver 0.9 ish and the game has been providing me a lot of great gameplay that no other games can give me. As some people stated in the video, a great teamwork experience makes the gameplay even better. And for non-native of English like me (I am Japanese) it's a great place to learn and practice English skill as well. It's really fun to communicate with people from outside my country and achieve ingame goals at the same time.

I've been playing for 9 years. The gameplay is just so different from any other FPS I can think of. At it's worst, PR can be terribly boring. At it's best, it will be the most epic game you have ever played. Usually it's somewhere in the middle. A boring match with a couple epic moments. PR somehow does a good job at balancing entertaining and exciting gameplay and a slower pace of game. PR is one of the few games where I actually feel like I "accomplished" something once in awhile, even though it's just a fun game because the game can be quite punishing. Those fist pump moments if you know what I mean. It sounds so silly, but I really wish I could have somehow recorded all those years of PR matches. I have been in some firefights in that game that would rival epic movies. I should start just for the hell of it.

The most fun you can have crawling through a ditch for 15 minutes, only to have some bogan trip a claymore and gets 4 of you killed and blow a sneak attack.

sigh I love the latest version of PR but I do miss being able to do drive by IED strikes with a motor bike while playing as insurgents xD man those were some good times.

First battle I played, I approached a teammate from behind and scare the shit out of him, so he accidentally shot me, he apologized and even call a medic to treat the wound, now that´s something you don´t see in other games.

Project Reality, simply the best game out there right now. Its not like regular AAA titles where everything is dumed down and meant to be as simple as possible for Casual or bad players and its not meant for a big market either, which in many AAA titles that just drags down the gameplay for ease of use. The community in the game is mostly the nicest ive seen in any game, maybe a little crazy but the good kind of crazy :P The Devs can be spotted playing regularly and you can go up to them and talk with them about all kinds of things and they will be Happy to talk with you and maybe even explain certain aspects you didnt fully understand before, i have yet to see something like this in a diffrent game. The Devs took an existing game and more then doubled the size of it aswell as upgrading the visuals to surpass the Vanilla Battlefield 2 in looks and most definetly gameplay and they arent done yet. The polish are coming soon aswell as WW2 The controls are another aspect of the game that are just amazingly good, while not 100% realistic and not fully intuitive at the first look they are by far better and simpler then what games like Arma and even Squad have to offer

I play it since version 1.0...and even when i stopped playing cause i didnt have time or i just played other games i always came back cause there is no game like PR.In no other game you have moments which are calm and you get to know your teammates,say few jokes and in next minute you are in crazy firefight with your APC supporting you, which gets destroyed by enemy tank so you call CAS to bomb the shit of the enemy forces ant then you finally take a objective and that is like the best feeling i have ever had in any game...PR is just perfect balance between fun, teamwork and milsim.

i still pick Project Reality over Squad.

I've played this since 0.2 , since it was a mini mod. I lived through little bird insertions on muttrah v1, insane jungle fights on mao valley, A10 strafing runs on Al Basrah and so many laughs. Project Reality certainly has more variety and random moments than Squad but the BF2 engine has been showing it's age for a while now. Squad is evolving steadily and the sky's the limit on the new Unreal Engine. It also has 5x more players at this second, PR is practically dead in my region.

A feeling of a good kill and the consequences of not doing teamwork in this game is unreal. It doesn't hold your hand, you can get some super tense moments.

Never played PR but played BF2 a lot. Love how the community came together to make the best Multiplayer FPS game of all time. granted Counter Strike/ 1.6 was amazing too.

Been around for 10+ years. I don't think any other game can give the feeling of contributing that PR does. Knowing that other people are depending on each decision you make somehow makes it more real. The one thing this game got right is communication. Ever since I've played PR, I found other games mediocre. And this is probably why I'll still play another 10 years.

Nothing else like it, best combination of teamwork, methodical gameplay, and pure chaos when everyone's elaborate plans turn to ****. Never found anything even close to it.

Bought Arma 3, GTA V, bf 3, bf 1, CoD BlckOps, spent hundreds of euros on games and the game i play the most, and enjoy waay more than all those games listed above, is a free standalone mod for an old 10e. game.

I started playing PR back in late 2011 when I started going to high school and have bin playing ever sense. For me its the ONLY game where you can get proper team work that affects the entire fight and I have had many a moments like that that I still remember TO THIS DAY. There was one moment where I was just hiding with another guy in a tower and dicking around and another where my squad carried the entire team to victory from the brink of defeat, THATS they type of moments that make this game grate

Playing 3 years now. The best moments when you driving with whole squad in transport truck for 10 min across the map to flank the enemy and you see sudden light flash in bushes seconds later all squad dead. Teamwork, gameplay, balance, nostalgia, discipline makes this game truly unique

ah the song from the best trailer :p im playing squad right now cause theres a really bad french community on pr,its like squad france on Squad theyre sick fuck but its even worse on Pr ^^ hear this joke, 300hours to play as squad leader,3000hours and 2 years in military service to teach the newbs xD its a pain in the ass to play on their server they treat you like garbage even if you just joined the server (casual player) and pretend like theres nothing wrong with them even if they do shit.

i just downloaded and played this game for the first time about 2 weeks ago and have been hooked day and night since. It is due to the teamwork mixed with fun that comes from tense situations and the way he mentioned your squads moves have an outcome that may effect the whole battle. Theres no room for not talking on mic squads so that weeds out that aspect of boredom and monotony with other players on teams. Also its just so full of content and every map theres different objectives with a tightly bound community here of veterans included that teach people how to play this game! THANKS PR

Until Squad released player count dropped down from 600+ average per day now its 300+ or 100+ :(

The guy at 0:57 pretty much echos my own opinion. PR sits in this nice middle between the more arcade style combined arms of Battlefield, and the mil. sim. style combined arms of Arma. And it's really the only game that provides this. Yeah sure there is squad, but that still needs a long way to go, so I'm not counting it.

Now its dead. Squad killed it. Mostly because of half the devs went there and stop caring about PR.

the reason i love this game so much is the community,the gameplay and the accesibility.anyone canplay it and it is completely free and has only 10 gb ize as well.not only that any potato pc can run it.and the community is great.when we play we just make jokes and talk shit to each other and talk strategies and stuff,which is really nice.and it has really good bots,and a dedicated playerbase that will never go till the day they get a job and have responsiblities.getting a kill is very statisfying,especially when you fire a gun with iron sights at full auto.it is fun to work with a squad and really statisfying when you get the job done.the vehicles just add a sense of epicness and fun.especially those terrorist humpbacks and tanks blasting away.and the huge explosions from bombs and mortar add a sense of epicness

It's really well made and organised in my opinion. You mostly don't get people without squads just running around because they will get kicked, also you don't get people without a mic in squads who do jack shit for teamwork because in some servers it's against the rules to not own a mic, or most squad leaders just do not tolerate people without a mic. In other games it can take time to set up a decent game with teamwork, and you usually need a group of friends. In PR you just hop in a squad, meet new people and enjoy the teamwork.

Hell yea! I stopped playing after 9 years only because i moved off grid and don't have electricity, i still watch PR vids on You Tube wishing i could play again
