In a time where Drake is getting dissed by rap legends meanwhile every rapper wants to work with Kanye West and be on his upcoming album Vultures, it has never been more clear about just how different these two artists are...
@@kidznnaaa drake always works with the artist who are poppin at the moment and the proof is there. Ye really challenges the artist he works with to tap into their inner artistry.
def not for the people. Kanye does a lot of stuff that is NOT liked well by the people when it first comes out (808's, yeezus) Kanye makes music for art
YE is just ORIGINAL. Guy plays instruments, produces raps .... Has Grammys for producing hits for other artists...That's GENIUS. Drake is more mainstream though great ...but YE is a complete artist .
@@thatdude3977 Ye plays keys ...check out the end of Diamonds ... That final piano run he actually plays it... No producer worth his salt doesn't play instruments...
@@thatdude3977 type Kanye playing instruments.... Is using RU-vid hard ... ? You can take the cow to the river but you can't force it to drink the water
This is a comment you will only find under an account that is trying to keep Kanye relevant, this is a huge lie but the easiest way to cope is believing lies
I'm a big fan of both Drake and Ye, but this is definitely true. Kanye gave Lupe Fiasco, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross etc career defining songs which helped each of them pursue future success. Drake at most has helped... partynextdoor? He rides the wave of rappers when theyre already big.
What about Giveon, Roy Woods, blocboy jb, Majid Jordan, Yung Blue, Smiley or ilovemakonnen? Not saying he’s the sole reason for making their entire careers (or lack there of) but getting the drake ft definitely boosted their chances and put eyes on them. Don’t forget he also pushed for kendrick and rocky to open for him for his tour prior to them making names for themselves.
cole too i remember the beat cut he set up for cole to drop that fire verse on looking for trouble, which made people look out for .. kanye always gives artiste he works with ally oops
Kanye literally expressed himself created his own type of rap influenced a whole new sound. He’s got some mental illness but he’s realer than drake. Drake is just a big front.
Lose your mom to plastic surgery while being an only child, have a Hollywood doctor have u held on 5150 drugged and forced to be on lithium which makes the brain less responsive to stimulation and it causes manic episodes. Remember the manic episodes are why they said he was bipolar. So he was giving a drug that makes him manic to deal with a mental disease that makes him manic. He was set up to be messed up and while married. So we see that marriage wasn’t real. The whole time the Kardashians were setting him up to be placed in a conservatorship to steal his wealth. Remember the guy named Harley Pasternak, the trainer aka his handler that threatened to have him committed and doped out his mind. Then you have the media put the bipolar label on you that never existed before 8 years ago. And the person who supported you the most who you trusted the most is dead. Why do you think he ran to Trump and pretended it was about politics. He needed real help to escape the grasp of UMG and Kanye is a fucking G to escape all his has and not be in a conservatorship, drugged up with the public excepting it because he has a fake diagnosis. Just look at Britney or Wendy if you think it’s a game.
I agree with this 100%. Spot on. Kanye West (for me) is one of Hip-Hop’s most important producers and artist, he has an aura for his guests to willingly and wholeheartedly go above and beyond. Can’t wait for Vultures. Amazing video.
Working with Kanye is like going and finish the college, after this rite of passage you are ready to reach greater heights. Working with Drake means you're reaching an audience, and he wants a slice of that audience too!
Correction: Drake is supposed to get ONLY a slice of the audience but he want MOST the audience & the spotlight to himself Drake is tries VERY hard @ tryna be that artist where mfs be like "When u make a ft song with Drake is gone be Drake song" ^^^^^^ SAYS NO 1 EVER Drake can't do that shit with PartyNextDoor Drake can't do that shit with The Weeknd Drake can't do that shit with Lil Wayne Drake can't do that shit with Jay Z Drake can't do that shit with ANY unknown new artist😐😐 NOT ONCE Drake NEVER outshine nobody on they song The Weeknd had outshine mfs like Belly, Wiz Khalifa & hella mfs on they song Kendrick Lamar had outshine mfs on they song Drake wish he was that type of artist but he NOT
Drake even said it on 6 God song: "Imma ball hog" etc. Drake is the reason why YMCMB didn't go too far ONLY having Drake, Lil Wayne & Nicki Minaj be the successful mfs in that music group & is HOW MANY MFS THAT REP YMCMB??🤔🤔 Cory Gunz and Euro would had rap CIRCLES AROUND DRAKE AND THE MUSIC INDUSTRY Tyga was beefing with Drake for putting EVERYBODY on YMCMB last tryna keep them in the shadow😐😐 Look at wtf Drake is doing to OVO and PartyNextDoor das why The Weeknd had left Drake cause is fuck that OVOXO shit. Drake even had admitted in 1 of his interview saying "Is ppls career that we hadda sacrifice and we playing chess we kept focusing on the best 1s das in the group I thank those guys for being on standby" etc.
Kanye musically isn’t afraid to test out new sounds and create things that haven’t been thought of in ways that most people don’t realise until years after how he managed to come up with certain beats from sampling some of the most random things together to create songs. Drake (and I’ve told my friends this for years) is the type of artist who “stays at the top” by just looking for what’s up next and copying new sounds or hopping on new artists waves all while “giving them some love” sure drake is a commercial beast but most of the time it’s his chameleon nature which allows him to have commercial success but in terms of legacy he doesn’t come close to Kanye and at the end of the day musicians are creators so they’ll always appreciate someone who’s brave enough to explore new types of sounds vs someone who is good at adjusting to the new sound. On a side note a perfect example of this is the way drake deals with artists from the UK since I’m from the UK but live in the states. Drake has admitted in early interviews that he found out about certain UK artists by just browsing RU-vid and then found an artist that he liked and let’s be honest most Americans in the past have not even given UK artists any attention all while Drake never really stopped keeping an eye on them, fast forward several years and then you see Drake has made a remix with Dave on his song Wanna know (which most Americans don’t realise the Drake version isn’t the original, and Drake has now starte collabing with skepta and other UK artists who previously never really got a “co-sign” from any big North American rap/hip hop artists. Then Drake tries to make a grime album in which he steals XXXtentacions flow which starts their beef because Drake after getting called out tries to act like he’s never heard of him etc but this is just a small snipped of Drake moving into other lanes instead of creating his own unique one
@@breejordon6042and thats why hes the carbon copy of drake, making mid ass catchy music thats used in tiktok background and gets boring after several days
@@Meezyy608it’s one thing hating on drake but letting your agenda blind you that you hate on other great artists like Jack Harlow is complete delusional
@@Deathmare235 if jack harlow is a great artist for you then you dont listen to anything other than hip hop i dont mean to sound like a fcking nerd but buddy jack harlow is beyond basic and i dont hate drake, pre 2018 drake was actually a really decent artist but too bad he turned to elevator music
The features on Donda go harder than the steel on the new Tesla Cybertruck. Fivio's verse made it feel like he rediscovered rap, carti, the weekend, breezy, and even dababy had some great verses just to name a few. With every new album, Kanye manages to bring a fresh sound with crazy production and amazing features that just work. Even his less popular albums end up feeling like classics after a few years, which just goes to show the level of genius and longevity he possesses.
As a both drake and kanye fan, i would say drake is not a man of full albums, he's great on shorter length EP's like scary hours series. But kanye got a vision for a whole album.
Kanye is a “ natural BORN “ musician. That’s his talent and if you trace all the way back… Kanye has been transforming the musical landscape and he has the “ ear” to improve the sound and quality of the music. He takes music and the lyrical content to another level and when he’s done … it’s INCREDIBLE! Plain and simple, Kanye is a MAESTRO….No Contest! No matter how crazy he talks or unusual his actions are… Kanye has set himself a part from the rest with his “ God given talent “ and that is why those artists chase him down to work with him… Wouldn’t you?? If you knew someone could take your ideas, lyrical content and music and with his creativity, passion and talent, take it to a completely different level!! Transforming it for all to appreciate??? In my opinion, they would be foolish not to!
Kanye is passionate about and seeks to enrich the culture in various ways, including music, innovative thinking, supporting fellow artists, and more. On the other hand, Drake is primarily focused on capitalizing on the culture for financial gain.
To summarize, the Rap/Hip-hop fans respect Ye more than Drake... so in that space anything Ye does or touches will be seem as timeless but as for Drake it will just be a moment in time.
20 years from now, 🧔: I worked with Kanye once. Everybody: 🤯🤯 no fucking way!! You worked with THE Ye?!! 🧔🏻: I worked with Drake once. Everybody: 😐😐 okay and?
Bump J is a legend. Did 10. Worked with rick james prior ! Two playstion songs. Back on stage with Kanye. Its hard to pull all that off and still be relevant.
that's a pretty unique perspective.as an active drake listener, this video enlightened me and made me think deeper about the industry and about the rappers I spent a significant amount of time.
This is the truth. Flaws and all, Kanye is a true artist. Maybe Drake was once an artist, but now he's just a businessman. You can see it in all the moves they make.
I agree with every point made in this video. I believe Drake's influential creative run ended around 2015-2016 and after that he's had nothing but predictable releases. I also want to acknowledge that he once did have that influential spark in him when he first received widespread acclaim and recognition. Let's not forget that Watch the Throne was fueled by Drake's meteoric rise in the industry.
Exactly. Drake actually had his own wave with Take Care, NWTS, and IYRTITL when he actually had creative drive in him. But these days he's just a trend hopper, doing this because he's desperate to just simply stay relevant.
@@___itsmatt1212 you're really saying the same thing. Out of the three releases that you named, IYRTITL came out late 2015. After that it was Views, which really grew on me but I didn't like it at first. To me the last great Drake release was More Life.
Drake has put out 8-9 solo projects and like 2-3 collab albums and only got like 3 debatable classics. Kanye has about 9-10 solo albums and about 4-5 collab albums and has at the least 4 undeniable classics. Kanye makes the rappers he collaborates with bigger and brings the best out of them whereas Drake just makes them more popular and relevant for the time. Their raps don’t elevate when making songs with Drake.
@@johnnyneptune2730 yeah but I saying that 4 are undeniably classics. TCD, LR, Graduation, MBDTF are for most people undebatable. TLOP, WTT and KSG are classics to me but they are debatable.
even if we go to rapping level kanye lyrics explore beyond hoes, bitches, "came from bottom", gang gang subjects he dives in spiritual waters to black mentality when have u ever heard drake not talking bout how his new girl left him broken or how he struggled to get where he is?
Drake is an industry puppet. If Drake said 1/4 of the things Ye says to the media, Drake would get CANCELLED. They stopped playing Ye on every radio station and he still innovates and sells. Ye knows he can do and say w/e he wants and still be successful on multiple platforms whether it be as a producer, solo artist or clothing designer. Adidas tried canceling Ye and he won a multimillion dollar lawsuit. Ye knows, whether publicity is good or bad; the money talks and keeps rolling in.
It’s not hard to see the chemistry that Kanye has with almost everyone (including Drake in the past for a short bit). Drake has some too but in comparison (especially coming from the rappers themselves) it’s just his name sake. It seems like Drake wants new artists on his tracks to stay relevant while those same new artists want to blow up. Drake is also definition of fast food music. Why? Because every single time people compare Drake to other rappers (or artists for that matter) they immediately talk about album sales, charts, views, etc & not why THEY like it or why he’s one of the goats for anything other than numbers. If you asked who’s one of the best businessmen in music then yes he’s up there no doubt. This is a shallow way to view what makes music great because people are literally comparing Drake to MICHAEL JACKSON simply because they have the same amount of charts. It’s lazy & superficial. MJ is one of the best artists of all time & did those charts when many didn’t like where the music was coming from. Drake is a pop artist that raps so no shit he’s gonna have more hits/charts. That’s the point of being a pop artist. It’s quantity over quality for them.
No lie this morning I was listening to unreleased Kanye and I told myself my goal is to be a successful artist and meet Kanye I want to hear demos and see how he approaches an idea or starts a project
That is cus Drake is formulaic and always plays it safe, while Kanye even if i don't agree with his takes at all he represents the uncensored which that is what Hiphop is and always been, that is my theory for why nobody in hiphop respects Drake.
A Drake collab means he’s trying to siphon your style - your essence. When you collab with Ye, he’s trying use your sound in order to elevate it and hopefully make something classic.
I think Travis Scott has a chance he just has to improve lyrically BUT with that said I feel Scott has bigger plans than being a rapper. Dude is an artist that Ye too took under his wings.
even if we go to rapping level kanyes lyrics explore beyond hoes, bitches, "came from bottom", gang gang subjects he dives in spiritual waters to black mentality when have u ever heard drake not talking bout how his new girl left him broken or how he struggled to get where he is?
The biggest difference between the two is that Kanye has a vision of what an album will be. Drake has a vision of what and album will make monetarily. Quality compared to quantity. That on top of the fact that Drake can't handle criticism and just starts to flex his money like he did with Joe Budden, who had very tame and valid criticism for his last album, shows how insecure he is and that the criticism people have for him is completely warranted. Drake is for the money and Kayne if for the people.
I HAVE ALL KANYE WESTS ALBUM AND WORK, I HAVE ONE ALBUM BY DRAKE CALLED Dark Demo Which I Listened To And Never Listened To Again... KANYE IS THE GOAT...
Drake is the guy who wasn’t supposed to win. He came out of nowhere and did it so much better than anyone that rap became the main genre in the world. He is the player who didn’t make the team freshman year and became the best senior year.
i have nothing against drake or his music but when an old drake song comes on it feels dated in a sense. like oh yea 20something vibes. but when i hear an older kanye song its like instant hype or like just timeless in that it doesn’t sound dated.
Imo when Drake was actually trying and had a creative drive he did make some classic songs that still hit to this day on Take Care, NWTS, and IYRTITL. But in general, I do agree that overall, Kanye's older music has aged much better than Drake's older music. And this will definitely be the case with both Kanye's and Drake's newer music too because Kanye keeps evolving his sound while Drake at this point has just lot all drive all together.
Drake will be forgotten at the end of the day . How many new rappers coming up saying that any of the drake albums is what inspired them ? A lot of new rappers always say Kanye was their biggest inspiration and that 808s, yeezus or graduation is what inspired their music . Drake will only be big for now but in the long run Kanye will be remembered for a long time. An artist vs a celebrity.
ye puts effort and creativity into every album, bringing something different every time. drake has become lazy, filling annual albums with too many low-effort songs and pushes for numbers over quality
U elaborated the comparison perfectly! Music is about expanding the far limits of your creativity then push it even further. Drake is a wave/trend what's hot hopper. Good music but no boundaries r pushed. He's Pop...... Popular music. Ye=Hip Hop Music
