As a Steeler fan since birth (51 years) I was disappointed we didn't draft Simpson in the spring. He was a presence on the field last night in the slop. Good luck to him in his career.

Thanks for the film on Simpson. I now feel way more comfortable allowing PQ to leave and shoving a lot of money towards Justin Madubuike. Remember, good linebackers become great when they have a good D-line.

I feel great about this guy. The impact Ro had on PQ elevated is whole career. And Trenton got to learn behind both of those guys to start his career. Makes me feel so much better about losing PQ

hes played a fair bit this season, but primarily off the edge . he was starting to get more and more playing time then he got hurt . week 18 was his first experience at ILB

Agreed. With Madibuke emergence, he becomes more valuable due to position, and the team is already paying Roquan. I don’t see any scenario where the Ravens are spending 40 million a year on inside linebacker. Queen isn’t taking a hometown discount to stay. He’s earned his bag.

The biggest and best difference between Trent and PQ is that Trent can actually tackle.

If he’s forced to play off ball he’ll be ok. But he’ll be just ok. He’s better in space. He’s truly an edge/slot. His game is similar to Hamilton. He just doesn’t play deep safety. His game is somewhere between Tyus Bowser and Kyle Hamilton. He was projected to a 1st rounder going into his final season. But, he slipped in the draft because he played out of position after he switched defensive coordinators. Brent Venables has a very similar system to coach McDonald. Simpson played all over the field his 1st 2 seasons. The new DC primarily played him off ball. He was solid in his final year. But he didn’t excel like he did under Venables.

I would like for Baltimore to change his position the same way Dallas changed Micah Parsons position. I believe Simpson can thrive off the edge. He can rotate with Clowney and Van Noy.

He's gonna be better than PQ he's faster to the ball, quicker and that kid is a tackling machine all that then add playing beside Ro, and you see what he did wth Patrick…

Good film. I like Simpson, but he is just too small to be a starting (fulltime) MLB.

Not trying to pick on you, but why do you say that? His listed weight is ~230, essentially the same as Roquan and Patrick, and that's increasingly the norm for the league as a whole, especially if you want 3 down coverage capable players. Yes, you need bigger DLs to eat blocks in front of them, but that's the whole reason we're seeing a mini-renaissance of NTs right now. I think what caps is ceiling is instincts not physique, the best ILBs are true savants, and I don't think he'll ever be a Roquan, Keuchley or Lewis. That said, Queen managed to be a tremendous player with meh instincts thanks to Roquan, and I expect similar things from Simpson.

i know im late but a lot of Simpsons miscues are because he is a rookie but also playing next to a guy that isnt that great when he is the lead linebacker. we saw it before Roquan and saw it in this game. Queen is good but not great without roquan. The ravens knew queen was good but became very good because of Roquan's high footbal IQ. i think Simpson will have a better ravens career than queen. how many times did you show Queen being out of position in this video or not communicating with Simpson early enough to get him in the right spot. Simpson will be very good and his speed will make the defense even faster.
