@Andre Ricardo Bryant Certain ones had a lot of tackles in general just from helping out against the run though. Back then you had a few great run playing and good tackling corners.
The problem is the way 2k5 handles its depth chart. Rather then a traditional depth chart (like Madden and 2k4), the 2k5 depth chart allows you to set players based on which side of the field they play on. So, for example, if you want certain WRs to play only one side of the field, you can set the depth chart that way. In theory, this gives additional control over the roster. In reality, this causes an endless amount of problems. You see, on defense, teams will have access to either a "Defense" or "3-4 defense" depending on what formations they have in their default playbook. Some teams like the Jets have both options. Some teams like the Ravens only have the 3-4. Setting the 4-3 defense is self explanatory and works as you'd expect, the 3-4 defense does not. Remember that *only* the 3-4 defense contains two ILBs. Every other defensive formation in the game uses contains just one. In 2k5, the player listed as the Left ILB on the 3-4 depth chart is the one that will see the field in every defensive formation other then the 3-4, and the Right ILB will sit on the bench as the first backup. And guess what? By default, Ray Lewis is listed as the RILB. So whenever the Ravens run any defense other then the 3-4, Ray Lewis is on the bench.
@Let’s Pump Sum Ballas The game in general is significantly better than madden and I'm just stating that point. Who cares about how bad the sim stats are for one player. Also, that's pretty big talk for a key board warrior that wouldn't have the balls to say that shit to my face.
This video reminds me of my wee days playing Tecmo Super Bowl. Every simulated season would have the 49ers at no worse than 13-3. Makes sense, they had an easy schedule with a shitty division (1990 NFC West), and they had a bunch of Hall of Famers on that team. So, I would sub all the backups to start and play the entire simulated season. Sure enough, the 49ers would STILL finish 13-3 or better, with the backups showing all the stats. Granted, Steve Young was their backup (Hall of Famer), but for their other no-name backups to make the Pro Bowl and carry the team to 13-3 or better?!? It made zero sense to me!
It’s not a glitch, it’s what happens in football. As he began to explain. I’ll go much more into detail, so in a base 4-3 you start w 4 down linemen and 3 linebackers (in a base 3-4 it’s the opposite) now this only works for offensive packages with less than 3 wide receivers on the field. Typically a linebacker isn’t fast enough to cover a slot receiver so you sub a line backer out for another defensive back. In the base 3-4 it’ll typically be one of the middle linebackers being subbed out bc they are the de facto 2nd defensive tackle (inside down lineman) in run stop situations
It's funny how everyone says 2k5 is one of the best ever football games (it was) at the time nobody took it over Madden 05. I did because it was 20 bucks but that was the main reason. Got a great game out of it though
@@TRJ2241987 That's kinda my point as great as it is/was it's a coin toss as to if it's better than its actual competition at the time Now all of a sudden everyone is saying this i the best game of football ever made that makes no sense. A lot of my friends had both and most seemed to fall on the Madden side of thing
Al Lefrancois I think why is because this was the final installment so there’s a lot of nostalgia. And Madden 05 could possibly be the best Madden. Madden has gone down every year of the current generation of consoles (XB1, PS4). I still to this day think 2K5 was the best football game. The reasons why is because it was ahead of its time, and Madden has gone backwards.
I thought it was better myself at the time, and that most people that I knew that bought Madden that year bought it because of name recognition, and because they were Playstation fanboys and never played a Sega Dreamcast. I also thought the Xbox version was the superior version, the ability to use custom songs was incredible at the time, but I think people with PS2's gravitated to Madden
@@freshstart2889 I agree PS2 football was the best we've gotten in my lifetime as far as i'm concerned they could just put this exact game out every year with a roster update and I would be happy I think the newer games focus too much on looking like football on tv rather than playing as such I couldn't care less about the 70 types of shoes are if Jared Goff looks like Jared Goff screw crazy customization give me football
Makes you wonder if they over corrected the sim stats in 2k5. I know in 2k5 my punter always has 4 of 5 punts blocked a season. In madden 07 through 12 (ps2) The backup running back never gets carried in sim and the slider in coach options is broken
Funny, as it sounds, 727 is the record. Basically, 23 more passes from Matt Stafford, he would've had that number. The top 20 passing attempts in a season has 18 leaders within the last decade. While, 30 of the 40 top passing attempts seasons are all in the last decade. Only six happened before the year 2000, those being multiple seasons by Bledsoe and Marino. A lone Warren Moon year. From playing the games almost a decade ago on the 2K, the passing numbers got crazy over some of 5 to 10 year spans. Starting QB attempts started around 430 to 500, usually 500 was a good young QB or terrible rushing attack. If a team struggled, it was either injuries, a really bad QB, a combination of a bad QB and non-all star RB starter, and/or trash defense. Teams with good/great QBs were winning with QBs throwing roughly 500 to 750+. Your team was a powerhouse with a great RB, WRs, and OL. But, in the later season, the passing numbers were astronomical with attempts over 800. Yet, some of the losing teams had good QBs with high passing totals. A 4,000 - 5,000 yard and 30 -- 45+ tds did not translate to playoff appearances. One later year, the MVP/OPOY was a QB on a 6-10 team with 5,000+ yards and 50+ td.
Hey coach Dawkins I got a way to make the game 2k5 interesting on franchise. Customize some rookies (don't op them though), with the help of your subscribers to characterize them, but you're not allowed to pick em.
It had nothing to do with Ray Lewis. As someone who’s spent an ungodly amount of hours on the game, it’s an issue with the MLB on any team in franchise mode, that specific MLB (either right or left) would always have less than 20 tackles on the season, while the other MLB position’s stats were always over or around 100.
When did Ray Lewis win DPOY two years in a row? 1996 was Smith. 1997 was Stubblefield. 1998 was White.1999 was Sapp. 2000 was Lewis. 2001 was Strahan. 2002 was Brooks. 2003 was Lewis. 2004 was Reed. 2005 was Urlacher. 2006 was Taylor. 2007 was Sanders. 2008 was Harrison. 2009 was Woodson. 2010 was Polamalu. 2011 was Suggs. 2012 was Watt. In his career he won the AP DPOY twice and they weren't consecutive. Btw love you vids coach! They always make my day!
Pretty sure it has to do with the 3-4 defense. Did the back up nose tackle have more tackles than he should have? Like the sim is kind of playing 4-3 and Ray Lewis plays less than the back up nose tackle.
Yup. That's it. Should have waited till the end until commenting. Feels good to be right though, lol. This same sort of shit happened in Madden for years as well. Meaningless to how good the game is though. People do make mods for 2K5 with modern rosters? Gotta check that out.
Dude no joke I’m playing this game and it’s real, I maxed him out and no matter what you can’t tackle or sack with his ass unless you are dead on with the timing and where you hit the guy.
CodyNW42 bro why would I lie about this? Do I really need to post a fucking video of me playing the shit to my page to prove it you? You must be a fucking loser to think others would lie about something so stupid.
CodyNW42 also that’s not the point of his rating, I maxed him out on roster editing and he still has issues tackling when not User controlled. I’m 7-3 right now with Lamar Jackson at the helm. Lewis to this point has 4 ints and 12 tackles lmao.
Another thing is the rivalry of Madden and 2k they each feature the other cover athlete being tackled on there covers from 05. It’s not crazy to think that 2k made Lewis 2k rating 99 and nerf his actual abilities on the game.
CodyNW42 Not true already simulated it in 2k5 not 2k4 and he’s definitely edited to only do so well. I simulated 2 seasons to be sure and the most tackles he had was 59 with 4 sacks and 6 ints
@@interceptingfist5682 I would get high and play seasons of 2k on end. I had an all star QB #1 black scrambler forgot his name, and an amazing DB team and WR Ian Alvarado #83. And some amazing tight end #47 I think
First a season that I simulated in 2k4. 2k4 the ravens ran the same D as in 2k5. Then in 2k5 a simulated season witch shows ray finishing the year with 10 tackles. Then after that I sim the season again but switch his position form LILB to RILB(or the other way) and he gets over 100 tackles. Hope that explains it, if not I'm sorry I wasted your time. Ps he was on the cover of madden 05 and in 2k5 he gets only 10 tackles. I thought it was funny
