The reason weird strict dad even won was just because it was less scary thus bringing in more kids (90% of Roblox) and easy for kids making them feel a sense of accomplishment after winning, so then they play it more and more.

i think what happened was the resident who massacres creator wasn't finished with chapter 2, but then realized if he didnt release it now, everyone would have forgotten about the game. so he half hazardously threw together mechanics and story. while he did spend a reasonable time making it, he didnt test of the game was actually beatable. and then we have chapter 2.
just wanted to say thank you for putting custom subtitles in your videos rather than using youtube's automated subtitle feature. most of the creators i watch don't go out of their way to do that. thanks man

My main problem with residence massacre is once the monster is locked on to you, there's pretty much nothing to do unless you have cola. Even then it's not a guaranteed escape. The first line of defense, AKA the lights, is pretty much the only thing you can do that actually WORKS. What's the point in using the dressers in night one to hide if the monster just kills you through them anyway? What's the point of the cameras at all in general? If escaping was difficult but not impossible and you had more options to aid in surviving, it'd be perfect, but really all it is is: Monster goes to window or doorway Use light to scare it off If successful, rinse and repeat If not, try to avoid it by constantly breaking line of sight. If it's blocking the hall? RIP No cola? RIP, it moves faster than you. Not able to get to the 1st floor or past it in a open space in time? RIP Generator goes out while your trying to avoid it? RIP, itll chase you out to the generator and kill you. I'm not saying nerf the monster to where it's so slow it's not a threat anymore, but at LEAST make it's walk speed the same as the player at default so if they can gain some distance on it, they at least have a fighting chance. Oh, and stop it from killing you through dressers.. literally.. why do they exist, they do nothing to stop it. I love RM, but if the devs don't pay attention to why people feel the need to resort to glitches or essentially putting a win on a dice roll if they can escape the monster in time, they got nobody else but themselves to blame. The fact they patch the glitches instead of looking at why people are frustrated with the game is even more annoying. (Edit) Cabinets in night 2 actually do work and make one of the monsters avoid you, the game just doesn't explain it well. So that was a mistake on my part!
The lockers in night 2 different from the ones in night 1, they aren't rng. You have to breath when larry is near the locker so that he doesn't massacre you.
Heres a good way to fix ch2: -nerf larry's speed a lot, having him be just slitghly faster than your normal walking speed gives plenty of time to run away. -nerf his ability to to open doors,if he opens doors 1 second slower,then he wouldnt be as unfair. -make him give up trying to break open locked doors, this would make him just walk away after realising that a door is locked,thus making the lock way more useful in question. -add sound cues. Lets say for example,when Larry walks near you (behind a wall too where you cant see him) then he would make some heavy footstep sounds or heavy breathing to indicate that you should probably run, and so on. All that combined should make this less unfair,i feel like the only thing that makes this night hard is larry,i think it should be really cool if he was way slower than in night 1 because of the gunshots he took in,and also give him a cool hurt walking animation, but if he does get that nerf,it should only make him slitghly faster than ur walk speed as i said,after all, night2 is supposed to be harder.
Nah this would be too easy, i find the game quite easy but many people do not. I would reccomend: nerfing larry's speed by 0.5, making breaking locks 2 seconds longer with jiggling, the heavy steps are already in the game and quite hearable but for people with no headphones i think he should make the footsteps louder. Then night 1 speed is perfect, it shouldn't need a nerf, its good like that. And also 1 second to open a door is too log maybe 0.7 or 0.8 seconds is better.
I think when in the locked doors part, there's a 50/50 chance he would either give up trying to open the lock OR succesfully break open the locked door so the players wont rely on locks (This is just an opinion)
Hello, this is a leaderboard player who has been playing residence massacre for 6 months. I must say also as a night 2 tester, it is truly pain seeing the game downfalling like this; Losing to such a miserable game..
Then maybe make the game more accessible? If the game is too hard for most to get into, and doesn’t have enough replayability to keep the people who do beat it, of course its not going to have a lot of players.

It lost because it was too hard, and you’re usually the only person in the lobby who knows how to play the game. Everyone else who knows how to play the game is just afk in the lobby for no reason whatsoever, and you end up being stuck with new players who take all the supplies and place all the boards on a single upstairs window.
I liked residence massacre as well as my friend. My friend dislikes roblox for its games because he believed roblox just have low quality games aimed for kids. He'd never play roblox unless he was playing with his friends. He said residence massacre managed to make it feel like fnaf but instead of staring at a screen solo, it was multi-player and you had to check more than just two doors and a camera. And residence massacre gave him a few spook and stuff despite being multiplayer. And for weird strict dad, he said "Poorly made Unoriginal piece of Sh*t". And he's really honest with his reviews.

You definitely should see Claus Carnage. It's a game inspired by the two, but made even better! It has high quality voice acting, cool designs, it's own soundtracks and tons of badges!
I think its so odd that the resident massacre devs made a fun formula with night one with a easily addonable formula only for them to decided that the best thing to do was to throw away that formula and start over.
Grass cutting incremental Is a game I would recommend checking out, It's certainly a very different genre from these games, but It has a generally higher quality execution than practically everything on the platform (AND there's a knockoff outperforming it)

So it does actually make sense so in the story of residence massacre we know That a outbreak has occurred we survived the outbreak we had a one on one hand encounter with a monster When we listen to the voicemail in night 2 we know that there are not so many workers I believe came back for the night shift because if we didn't come for the night shift we will eventually get fired and if we get fired We would become homeless And if this occurs again the outbreak occurs again we would be dead
Im tried of garbage games on Roblox getting more recognition than actual good games. I feel awful for residence massacre. They don't deserve this kind of treatment alongside other good roblox games.
yes, its sad, but they just made the game overwhelmingly difficult and super hard for new players to understand. in night 1 the tips are just common knowledge and in night 2 the tips are literally just repeats of the paper you get in the beginning, and then take useless tips and add 50 more mechanics along with spamming the monsters at the players after 3 am with monsters that are omnipotent unless you are in a closet or locker along with being faster than your walk speed and giving you overwhelmingly short sprint amounts making it almost an instant death unless you have a bloxy cola, the iron lungs gamepass, use a bug, or be extremely lucky to be far away from the monsters spawn point and hope that it despawns before it catches you, along with praying that one of the mechanics don't go off or if your in night 2 also praying that one of the monsters that block your way don't block your way, its almost guaranteed even in a group of 4 that are very coordinated the monster breaks in at night two, night 2 is harder because the monster can bypass literally all your safety measures and walts in through the side door like they could always do that with the only warning you get being the lock which in some situations you can't even buy, the only time you could do a shatterless run is in the house night 1 and fill the generator down to a mathematical point so that it doesn't run out during the hell hour 5 am and then (depending on your gamemode and amount of players) pray you either get at least mildly lucky or pray you get extremely lucky, put all my yapping together and you get residence massacre also i'm pretty sure that without using glitches in night 2 its impossible to not have the monster break through one of your windows at some point in time because of power monster chewing your wires or you just being overwhelmed by the unfair mechanics.
Kinda sad how this situation also applies to Roblox in general, Roblox will always advertise the games that make them more money instead of some actual good and fun games.
I feel like this can be avoid if roblox game developers start balancing it out, like i mean having many gamepasses and having good gameplay. But the game f2p as well, you get what i mean?
Yeah, I know Roblox is marketed towards kids and is for kids but a lot of teens and older people play too, so it kind of sucks if almost every front page game is a rainbow over saturated tycoon/obby/simulator
As a roblox game dev, there are things in this game that i noticed while playing it that genuinly threw me off. at least they didn't 100% rely on models from the toolbox
in the lankybox thing in jims computer early on in this video it was like "i think a doors entity might have attacked him" after literally seeing jim shooting himself
Seeing as you like to cover niche games i'd like to recommend trying out Fantastic Frontier Its a very unique RPG focused around exploring and is self-contained with its' artstyle, gameplay inspired by runescape Would be awesome to see coverage of it as its one of the few games that really breaks the monotony of roblox games as a whole and honestly is a huge labor of love from only 2 developers
Never in my life was it that painful to accept the truth. Indeed, there's lot of factors that keep the Residence Massacre from being fun. The difficulty, the way how the whole game becomes even harder when playing with randoms because there's a high chance that they don't even speak english and just do random stuff or expect you to do everything for them
8:30 i was playing with some friends a while back. i went to repair the radio tower and a friend locked the door i was heading to, and larry spawned on top of me. since then i never understood what or how that happened so thanks for showing me that fact
I love weird strict dad, I love it because it didn't try to stray away from being silly or strange. It doesn’t try to “shiver your timbers” it had a simple premise and executed it well. It is goofy, but it has simple yet interesting mechanics to switch up every chapter. I really hope people don’t call it juvenile and move on because it did genuinely give me a good fright when I played it.
I've played WSD and it's boring, gambling and p2w. Other Roblox horror games try to "shiver your timbers" since the point of horror is being scary or disturbing in some way but you kiddos just say it's trying it's worst to be scary and just trying to "shiver your timbers" and milking scares out of you. WSD lack those "flaws" by using stock UI, an overused gimmick, and milking a small trend. And it's "goofiness" is literally just spamming the word "lol" on texts. The only things scary are the jumpscares and the feeling that you're constantly being watched. (The jumpscares aren't scary, just surprising and too loud.)

night 2 was fun but it was actually too hard. we tried everything but it seems like no matter what we do we fail. we keep track of the windows to keep him out but he goes through the door with no warning. we place a laser at the door to see it coming but we literally cant outrun him well enough to reach a locker (right next to the door he goes through btw) and the one near the main room dies and then the rest are done for anyways. i get they wanted it to be challenging but they gave larry too many ways to get to you and if me and my friends couldnt beat it then i doubt any 9 year olds could.
@@Breadian My only criticism is that sometimes the editing can be really basic, more illustrations (like more music, images, gifs, text explaining stuff, SFX and even some effects) to what is happening in the video would keep the things more engaging, but otherwise, the script is good and funny and I like the gameplay footage.
The truth is, residence massacre isn’t trying to be a cashgrab. Infact. We do have some lore from the Ghost Mini-Game but the main thing is, residence massacre would’ve been gone if they didn’t rush the second chapter. The sad thing is nobody tried to learn the intended game route. Everyone just tried to use the old techniques, basically, the lock is used to buy one second the main way to use this is to run away before he finish breaking the locks before he enters hunt mode, you aren’t supposed to hide that much because he will learn that you’re hiding. The main strategy is to go as far from the monster as possible, and you should you the locks to buy time. If you’re in constant movement, you will gain distance.
Weird strict dad was just more simple, less scary, slightly more colorful, and more constantly updated. Which seems like a great game to milk to death!
Makes me sad that most roblox horror games, even the more artsy and surreal ones seem to fail in the story aspect. They take the wrong lessons of "show don't tell" and make surreal things for the sake of surrealism. While yes, there is purpose in doing that, in general it seems like they're doing it because they don't actually understand what makes a story engaging. Hopefully we will see more understanding of surrealism weed out all the 'nothing stories'. While also hopefully giving us more substance than just, a demon, a ghost, a failed experiment, or just a monster.
imo the difficulty of residence massacre stems from how it usually requires coordination between your teammates which is practically non existant in a pub

I hate the weird strict dad chain... You are totally right though. Residence Massacre had barely any story, and why did we go to the factory in the first place. We clearly don't understand what we're doing in the entire cutscenes. We encountered the monster from this factory leak and survived, using our own strats. In night 2 we get a note which we don't know what's on it. The player already knows there are more monsters from this leak, so why did we go in the factory. What's the main objective? I know it's to survive but the story objective. In weird strict dd we got a clear view of what the hell is actually happening. But in residence massacre I don't see a clear point of what the story objective is.
Yo Breadian, i suggest you checking out the game CHAIN again, it got updated so many times and the story mode got banned, i mean, the whole game got banned because of dmca issues but devolopers backuped the Survival mode and put survival mode with another game. Before, Survival mode was The Rake but worse, but now i think its the best survival horror in roblox. usually i don't like games like 3008 or The Rake but CHAIN got me into.

Its odd hidden lore, the impact it had on open world survival zombie games, its sequel and where it's going now is something someone like you would do great in talking about, like what you did with Isle

I actually prefer the first night… I expected it to be like, all in the same house, but getting harder thru the nights, but you can get upgrades to help you in between the nights??? And this just ain’t what I expected
I like Residence Masscare more but, well, i'd say it's due to game mechanics. In Residence massacre, you can die in a closet for no reason. There's too many gimmicks that will get every player dead and overall people don't like games where you are dead half of the time. Game is good but hard and not so much people like difficult games. Still surprised it got passed.
I played night 2 with one other friend, It was impossible to beat. 1: The monster straight up camped at the lockers, I could have been holding my breath for 2 minutes, and that monster would still be there, and when I run out of oxygen, I'm dead. 2: The map was wayyyy too large for 2 people, It would take too much time If you didn't have the layout memorized 3: Not really a fault of the game, but I could not understand the instructions of the paper at the start.
As a mobile player, I find residence massacre night 1 and night 2 hard as it is supposed to be, like seriously, just make frineds and join games with people who know what they’re doing. This game is meant for proper team communication, unlike other horror games which could be done solo.
they should add a new update making only Larry the threat in normal mode and in Bloodmoon adding the rest of the threat like the generator for night 1 and night 2 the rest

LONG COMMENT WARNING One thing that bothers me with RM is... Chapter 2 misses one of the main appeals if the game. The main terror wasn't just the fact that there was a monster, it was also terrifying because you were trapped in such a small and claustrophobic space WITH the monster. The whole factory setting just comes out of nowhere and really doesnt fit with the name "residence massacre". If they wanted to make a larger map setting, they could've done a farm map or a mansion. Keep the claustrophobic yet familiar feel of being home, while still expanding the game space. Heck, imagine how much more tension you add with something like that. Like, maybe a basement area in the mansion, or having to slowly creep through tall grass or wheat at the farm. Using a familiar or at least simple to understand/comprehend environment, and twisting it to bring fear to the player can be challenging, but when done right, it can be a real treat to experience.
