Lowkey I was waiting to be on one of these 💀💀💀 I do wholeheartedly agree with your points on Hunting Season. Unfortunately I have had a bad break with the horror genre and find myself struggling to find something that hasn't been done to death within it. Adding an R2DA-like progression system was definitely not the way to go to the point where it almost feels more like an action game than a "horror". Unfortunately I ended up distancing myself from the genre for this reason, I never want to just copy a concept, always put a twist on it. With horror I find it very difficult to do just that.
Idk if this is a good take or not but I feel like to help with replaying is to add some like the mastermind or whatever he is called from Left for dead
I can assure you that Hunting Season 2021 and HSR both had many elements that were unique enough to catch my eye. I enjoyed the monster designs and I was able to admire the effort that was put forth (as well as the funny ads). Even though it might not have been a hit with most Roblox players, I always had a soft spot for it. I can relate a lot with wanting to exercise your own creativity with your work. I've seen several youtubers who've grown faster than me because they played blox fruits or spammed youtube shorts. At the end of the day, I opted to keep covering niche roblox games in long form content, accepting the slow and steady growth over the years despite what the current youtube 'meta' appears to be. Ultimately, I wish you luck with your new endeavors, and I hope that in the future your efforts will get you the recognition that you deserve.
I’d like to add an annoying recurring feature, horror games that are way too dark and don’t give you a sufficient light source so you can’t even properly navigate the area. Sometimes, like with The Rake, this is a conscious decision to add challenge and character, while most of the time it’s just how the game turns out
tbh that seems to be the case with most small indie horror games its either the most chinese build quality flashlight or a gas powered gussler truck for batteries
Tbh it’s so the rake sneaks up behind you the physics for it is wild because it’s coded to know where you are but approach slowly and to the nearest player instead of an injured player which is cool but also still scary because it goes into sneak mode when nearby a player so the rake sneaks behind the player without any sound of sniffing
With Repleh County Archives, i spent over 10 minutes trying to understand the objective when the lights goes off, more 20 minutes searching for a object thinking the objective was to go to a certain part or item, and another 30 minutes cooking myself some food while i kept the game running on my phone thinking i had to wait some time standing still. After literally one hour of loud noises, unnescessary darkness and a completely unclear objective (It tell me effectively nothing) i quitted the game and instead went to youtube watch a full no commentary playthrough. Probably my worst horror game experience i ever had.
I didn't except Repleh County Archives to be so boring, i mean, it was made by the same people who made A Stereotypical Obby, which i had enjoyed a lot.
Same for Minecraft "horror" mods that have become popular thanks to Cave Dweller. Loud screaming + An oogeyboogey that one shots the player does not equal scary.
"Okay, so, pick up the flashlight." "Good, now go into the dark room." "Okay now get out of the room, there's a monster with red glowing eyes inside it." "Okay, the monster is chasing you. Go into the locker." "Okay, the monster stopped chasing you. Find the red key." "Okay, now open the basement door and navigate the maze." "Okay, find the orange key in the maze." "Okay. You escaped. Good ending."
"Oh wait, you didn't do this hyper specific thing that isn't even remotely hinted at anywhere in or around the game, you got an extremely unsatisfying bad ending that leaves an extremely sour taste in your mouth" "Okay, you did something slightly different, now play through the entire game again" "Yes, you really had to do _one single thing_ for the good ending and nothing remotely changed throughout the rest of the playthrough, the bad ending might as well not even exist" "Okay, you escaped with the CEO's Cousin's Niece's Daughter and got 5 million dollars. this ending is somehow even less satisfying than the bad one. have a badge that inexplicably has the impossible rarity"
Sadly the reason why many of these criticisms will never go away is because Roblox actively discourages it. If you have a good horror game without these criticisms listed there will be a high chance it won’t be popular. Also as long as kids are there to consume some of these bad games they will never leave.
i mean, doors (and pressure) is very successful because they managed to increase playtime by making an actually interesting game that's worth replaying
I find that Doors is one of the better modern Roblox horror games. No boring fetch quests or annoying mazes. Every time you die, the game tells you how to avoid it the next time. This keeps players from dying to the same thing over and over again and prevents frustration. The core gameplay loop doesn’t last for too long and isn’t too easy or hard. It’s perfect for multiplayer, and there’s plenty of extra stuff to do once you’ve beaten the game.
That and Pressure especially since it’s basically in my opinion better then doors and a very good doors clone hell half the time it feels like it’s own thing which it is but you get what I mean
i actually had (what I think is) a pretty good idea for a horror game, and i just wanted it to share it here so it goes like this: you take a game that basically almost everyone has played (prison life, natural disaster survival, survive the disasters, etc.) but make little changes that will really only be obvious and/or visible to long time players of that game (or Roblox in general) and that if you follow these changes eventually the game ends up twisting so much it essentially becomes a whole other game but idk maybe this is a pretty bad idea
I honestly like physiological horror, which doesn't rely on jumpscares but rather on the psychosis of the characters, and how trauma can affect their view of life. Games that are dark in the sense of story, no jumpscares (loud ones), maybe it's because I find it interesting learning about how the actions/traumas can affect a person's life forever. Even if it may seem minimal it will have an effect on the individual. Jumpscares can make the game fun/scary for a minute but it will not really stick with you, it will not make you think about the characters it is just there for the spooks.
too bad drooling fetuses on their moms iphone dominate the platform so there is no incentive to make one because 1Its not that profitable 2 no way in fucking hell will kids understand the message behind those games ever
genre-redefining, trope-subverting, atmospheric, dark and eerie, emotionally draining, gut wrenching, aesthetically heavy craft by post-horror auteur with an arthouse edge, dread-inducing, suspenseful build up with strong character development and gradual feeling of escalation, bone-chilling slow burn with “say more with less” approach and soul-shaking, blood-curdling, skin-crawling and nerve-wracking exercise in persistently looming dread where tension and anxiety permeates every frame as the game reaches its nail-biting, jaw-clenching and paranoia-inducing final climax, free of any cheap gore, cartoonish CGI or infantile jumpscares lego horror game, please.
every single ____ the experience is 1. work 2. work 3. work 4. mop the floor 5. the energy out of nowhere go out 6. you see the monster 7. you run away 8. you go back to work and pretend nothing happened 9. work 10. work 11. work 12. the monster appears 13. womp womp u dead
It sad that the only games that are actually good are usually short experiences or have been completely forgotten. I feel like the only games that actual tried to be somewhat good are Mimic and Doors. And while I mostly don’t find these games to be scary, they at least tried to be somewhat enjoyable and not insanely difficult.
@@TJ-hg6op its way too repetitive & the monsters look goofy as fuck honestly 😭 I never got scared of it. The only age that can scare you really is if your under 13 or a family friendly youtuber
@@ibunyn I feel all that is more subjective than an actual critique. It is far less repetitive than the other garbage you see on this platform, and by scared I don’t mean jumping up screaming and crying, I mean actually worrying about if I make it to the end. And the stuff looking goofy, its a roblox horror game what are you expecting.
It also doesn't help that a good amount of mediocre roblox horror games stick you in a either a generic cave or some dark building with the worst flashlight mankind has ever produced
the "annoying sounds'' on the mine horror game and possibly CHAINS is taking inspiration of puppet combo's style of horror games, namely VHS horror which is known to be loud, and part of what makes it scary
I think the reason they don’t work as well in roblox is because of the game’s art style. Puppet Combo already has this strange ps1-esque design that already makes it feel strange and alien, allowing the loud noises to actual scare more than annoy. Don’t think it does the same well in this roblox games
@@Scruffy-qi3ik while CHAINS really only takes the fast and loud chase mechanic from puppet combo, the murder mine game fully commits to imitating puppet combo and does it pretty well
Say what you will about older Roblox games like Area 51 or The Scary Elevator. At least those games are far more enjoyable than most modern Roblox Horror games that are out there.
I'd have to disagree, the reason you'd think they are more enjoyable is because you look back at them remembering all the things that were at least entertaining about them. But when you actually play them you realize they were always boring. Sure there's those dumb fun moments but standing in an elevator waiting for the same few floors to play and continuously throwing yourself into a death pit to die to the same monster over and over again gets boring fast. The majority of roblox horror games are mid and I can agree that playing the classic trash every once in a while is a fun time, but lets not forget why time forgot those games in the first place
I never liked those type of "horror" games on roblox where you have to pay robux to continue or you go back to the beggining, its like a plague that started back in 2019 with Camping. i know there are some exceptions because they're well made, but most of them are 70% long dialogues or mazes with locked doors and monsters. It's stupid.
I think Doors is kind of an outlier here, as, from what I can understand, only has 2 problems that are not related to any points you made in this video. Padding definitely isn’t too big of an issue, as the padded portions of the game are either fun (Seek, Dupes, Figure when you first see him, Halt) or are just looking for a key or a switch. The only issue I have with padding is near the end of the game where it’s a fetch quest followed by a puzzle which is annoying as hell. It has some creative standpoints, like the paintings on the walls, the layout of the rooms, among other things. The biggest issues however boil down ta two things. Repetitiveness (which is just the norm at this point) and popularity (a new one I know). While I enjoyed Doors a lot, the one thing that doesn’t make me go back all that much is with how popular it is, and, if I go praising it, I might get called a nine year old or something, which is ridiculous. I have to hide in the shadows and just not talk about it unless it’s with friends to not get insulted (which I can take, I’m just annoyed at the fact that people would call me a nine year old over a game I enjoyed playing and got scared by)
A reason that this felt so real for me is just I used to play this horror game that I absolutely loved because it was creative unique and had amazing visuals. It did not get banned, but it is so hard to find that I have given up I broke the device that I used to play with that horror game and I cannot find it anymore and it is so annoying because every time I look for it I find something that reminds me of it but it’s just so far of(the game)
I want a horror game where you can use the environment to your disposal. Like most horror games don’t allow you to jump. I just want a horror game where you can jump on top of or climb on anything for survival. Or attempt climbing trees by challenging your self by spamming a button to get up something like that. The survival might be more interesting when you make horror games that way. I also enjoy me some “open zone” horror games too like Don’t Scream which is not a Roblox game but these games are doing well for their ability to gave players more to interact with and secrets to uncover. Just expand upon this more and you got me more hooked!
I have been working on a horror game that actually allows you to jump! Still attempting to come up with new gameplay mechanics that can make the game more fun to play
I totally agree with your points in this video, nowadays roblox horror games can be incredibly frustrating because of the issues you highlighted. Like gosh, the inflated playtime and padding, mazes, and annoying sounds can really take away from the experience and make it feel like a chore rather than just a "fun" horror game. The painful grind is something many players can relate to, thanks for highlighting the issue about the copy-paste repetitive horror games on roblox. On a positive note, I'd love to see you make a video about the "good" horror games on roblox if you're up for it. It would be great to explore the flip side and discover some hidden "gems" in the horror genre community yk. Keep up the good work!!
honestly i think another part of it is that a lot of serious for-the-love-of-it game devs are leaving the platform for one reason or another. for me (newbie dev), although im more acclimated to scripting in roblox since i practically grew up on it, theres been quite a few updates/announcements that have kinda steered me away from continuing. one such example (which was the real nail in the coffin for me) is the whole 'experiences using marketplace items' planned policy update, which wouldve most likely nuked literal Millions of games for what basically amounts to a worse version of copyright for avatar items being harmlessly equipped ingame. (massive oversimplification but you get the gist.) thankfully the sheer amount of backlash that it got on devforums caused the update to be """"paused"""" (the actual word they used), but i think its another case of corporate execs being way out of touch and will probably present itself again, so im jumping ship before it sinks and i think that could be why a bunch of others are too. anyway sorry for the mini-rant, just my two cents on the whole thing
Roblox did not remove these updates because they were sorry. They did it cause they got caught Roblox has proved time and time again that they do not care. Its honestly pretty hard to defend then for what they have done. people and content creators i have seen believe if we just sit like Ducks Roblox will remove their awful update No Its Not
After thinking a bit, I kinda wish for the policy update to happen. Now I understand the problem you have with it, the problem being that it would doom millions of games from the old times to even games made today. However, one thing that it would achive is slow down development of games. This would significantly lower the amount of copy paste games, and force them to spend more time model and script items and other such things, which would give chance for quality games to maybe reach the front page
@@weirdguylol Yeah I get Roblox will not be a perfect company. But when there are so many bad people and content out there you need to actually step in.
What I also don't like about Roblox horror games is that some of them are literally just 1-1 copies of already existing indie horror games, like The Survey, FAITH, Anatomy, etc., further proving that there's barely any creativity in the horror genre and also takes away the attention from the original games cause why bother playing the original and supporting indie horror games when you can just play a remake of it on Roblox.
Tbh, I don't usually mind the way Horror games are made. As a horror enjoyer, I often have fun with most horror games I play. Four notable favorites being Doors, The Intruder, Lightbulb, and It Lurks.
If you want a good roblox horror game, I’d recommend A Stereotypical Obby and All Over Me. Both, for me at least, are very ominous and disturbing in some aspects. Even if they don’t scare you completely they are very suspenseful which I like.
Doors probably is one of the few horror games out there that I'm actually fine with. It became massively popular, but honestly it's a Nice game. A simple game to go through, run with some friends, and then leave. Nothing more, nothing less. However, I still waiting for the next god dang floor ;-;
Doors Is a pretty good game, especially with the entities/monsters and how you must avoid them. With some Items to help you along the way whether It be the Pills Flashlight Lockpick, cross, Lighter, candle. So It makes me wonder What Doors 2 will have In store for Us. But the other "Horror" games shown here, aren't really horror. While they might have effort they clearly don't have much Interest to pull you In.
I'm not gonna lie, if it was meant to be a one time experience, most of it would be acceptable if it was used to it's advantage (like how phasmophobia forces you to go in and do something instead of sit in a corner and win) but if its done poorly, or if youve gotta keep doing the same crap over and over, thats when it atarts to suck.
Hey, may I recommend a game to check out, it's called 'Limbobbia' it's a short yet fun (puzzle? Not really)-exploration, comedy game. I believe it has some inspirations to LSD dream emulator (as it literally has some music from it in the game)
Roblox horror games are pure cinema. A golden rose in the dead wheat. An unforggetble experience for those looking for a thrill. An evolution for human entertainment. Well worth for your time to play thes jaw-dropping masterpieces.
Fear street camp nightwing is the worst of the worst, padded with unnecessary jumpscares, including a jumpscare in the first 4 seconds of actionable gameplay, a maze segment with unscary monsters and maybe a constant sound effect but I don't really remember, and as indicated I don't remember anything but the first jumpscare and there was a maze
Breadian depression arc is back in full swing boys. When playing hunting season rebirth for the first time and dying a bunch I couldn't help but feel it wasn't as fun although I couldn't put my finger on it yet. There's just this lack of excitement being generated for me playing it, that there wasn't in the original, thank you for putting that finger on the games problems. Hoping soda thief studios boss blitz remake is good. Boss battle games are an endangered breed, us boss battle fans be suffering fr. I cannot imagine actively making such trash copy paste games that take like 3 hours to make at most and then getting mad when people dare criticize you for it and try to make yourself out to be someone whos too good for criticism. The cycle continues even when we don't want it to. Praying that eventually the kids finally wake up and stop playing such trash. I want to find a horror game that actually genuinely scares me. Something that's abstract, something that is littered with secrets and has a great visual style. Perhaps a bait and switch horror game that actually pulls off the façade part extremely well, with it actually being a surprise that you can see coming but may brush aside. I want to see games that strive to attack your mind in unique ways. I'm sick of the bar being so low.
No wonder why Horror genre is the most repetitive genre. It's not only happened on most horror game in Roblox, but also in most movies nowadays. Like most horror games in Roblox, most horror movies are just cheap jumpscare and gore. This reasons is also why most horror movies got bad score, despite still being liked by public audience.
i personally hate how most roblox horror games rely on jumpscares instead of atmosphere to be scary. Not that jumpscares are _bad_, but they defenitely feel like a cheap way to startle you with little effort
I hope horror doesn't go down the same path as the obby genre. of the same cheap slop thrown out to entertain children with the same boring obstacle asset packs re-used. and in some cases entire obby games re-used(im lookin at you escape barry prison obby) faithless and guts and blackpowder give me some slight hope that this wont happen but only time will tell. i hope to never see the horror equivalent of "squid game mirror obby beat game to get admin!"
i hate these types of games, especially the maze ones. they became so repetitive that it's straight up boring to play if all you are going to do is search for something while the generic tall pale bloody and black-long-haired creature is chasing you
There are VERY FEW games on Roblox that have genuine quality, such as Doors and Apeirophobia, but both of those aren't original, and are highly inspired. It's a shame that most games have devolved this far.
There's no such thing as an "original game", or piece of art in general. Every creation borrows from something that has existed prior to it; what distinguishes a quality game from a bad one is if it uses those foundations well. Doors and Apeirophobia definitely succeeded in that regard.
@@beautyholic5592Yeah, doors is inspired by rooms and spooky’s jumpscare mansion, but makes sure to make itself unique with a different design, different quirks, and a ton of stuff. There is are far too many ripoff horror games on roblox, but don’t lump doors with those because it shows genuine effort to be original.
I’ve been thinking of making a horror game myself that skirts away from the traditional story-centric horror. It’s a multiplayer game where you have to do like certain objectives in order to win depending on the map you’re playing. Players are equipped with a standard flashlight at the start of each match which has an infinite battery and is the only item to do so even though it still has a cooldown and there are other kinds of flashlights all of which have limited uses players can pick up around the map they’re playing on (item spawns and locations are randomized though). Players could either get cameras which only has 3 uses and stuns monsters temporarily, thermal vision goggles to be able to locate monsters through walls at the cost of tunnel vision with the battery slowly draining over time as you use it, and uv flashlights that can reveal clues or hidden passages around the map like secret tunnels and chalk drawings which also drains its battery over time through use. To counter this, there are a wide array of monsters each with their own strengths and weaknesses. One that is blind but is immune to the camera flash and stun, one that is invisible to the thermal goggles and is an ambush predator, and one that can change the chalk messages and secret passageways to lead players into a trap.
@@elchuchooofin3807I forgot the name but I believe it's named survive the night (?) where all of these said features are present in some way or another
@@justuraverageplayer_ Well, I really wanna focus more on the gameplay aspect with the horror as a major element instead of having horror be its whole identity. I aim to have this game be both engaging and scary, in which case if I fail to scare the audience then I could at least have them get engaged in the gameplay loop.
chain is just the devs saw sawrunner in cry of fear and they were like: “Hmm yes, let’s take these well spaced and well thought out chase sequences and turn it into a whole game.”
yeah, there's a lot of this in horror games. I want to make horror games, but they're probably not gonna be that great, one of my ideas is just waiting and anticipating something bad, but the idea of it is to look around as you wait. But the waiting thing was still an issue, I don't want the experience to be too short, but I don't want it to drag on too long, and then there's another one I'm working on, which is literally just a piggy clone that I made for fun, it's not supposed to be too long but people might not be able to find the tools they need in the forest or they might get killed, making them have to replay the intro where you just walk to one place and are introduced to the monster. If someone hated them, as long as they didn't give reasons that were untrue, like it was made just for profit, when it's not and I have no idea what I'm doing. Mostly just saying it's all for profit.
In the slim chance of you (Breadian, the video poster) reading this, would really love to hear your thoughts about Dummies VS Noobs. In no way is it a horror game as it is a military wave-based survival shooter, but its literally my go-to game everytime I open Roblox for that fun ass replayability
Currently i have seen someone attempting to recreate the game called "Before the dawn:Redux" on a more scale of memes and minecraft themed which is called Survive the Minecraft. I'd say that they fixed many problem the original game had and actually make it fun and unique to play on. I suggest you should give it a try since you have already covered on about Survive the night
To defend chain, the sounds are meant to be jarring and disorienting, if you want the sounds to be quieter you can always turn down your volume With the “maze” section it is there to allow a terror to build up as you wonder where chain is To defend chains survival mode, it’s getting properly updated with new visuals and AI, while being unique in it itself with the ability to dodge, parry, and block as well as shoot the lad
Guts and blackpoweder is not so bad,Rather in the past I played it when it was not known and it was good until the game started to get attention. From my point of view, I think that when games receive too much attention, the creators just want to exploit them and since (the majority) are young creators - 20 years old, they think that exploiting them will last them.
Probably the worse horror game I've seen in Roblox is Identity Fraud, where I spent 6 HOURS witb my friends in this game only to be absolutely disappointed because of how numb the ending was when compared to the actual amount of time spent on the game. There's a LOT of mechanics to understand, and we don't have any help whatsoever. Litteraly left on our own to figure out stuff.. which is sad because the entities are interesting, especially the last one.. but having to go through 3 mazes with 3 different entities AND puzzle to figure on your own, even having to understand MORSE CODE? It's really not worth it.
Amazing review of all these games. The only real problem is that these problems are present in a lot of games, i'm not trying to make it seem like it's less of a problem btw.
hot take: the mimic is a good horror game. Sure, it has the repetitive mazes on book 1 but they still didnt checked most of the points breandian had made about, and it doesnt always make insanely loud noises. Despite gameplay or scariness, they actually put effort into their latest works, such as that npc guy in the lastest chapter, because i swear he looked wayyy to real for a roblox game Edit: there's a reason why it's a hot take
@@Ejwiwueueiwwjd I like mimic, but it indeed, had a fetch quest in their, and a smaller maze section in the front part of the game, they have a lot fetch quests not going to lie, the game is long and a bit annoying to play. its a lot of fetch quests and puzzles, but i have no idea about the unnecessary padding.
The majority 'consumable bad' types of Roblox games started to come out after Camping (yeah that one), which basically became the only type of horror game you'd see most of the time on Roblox
Oh my god the background video not only show how bad the death-repeat cycle is in roblox horror games, but the game just straight up tries to get you to buy ‘silent footsteps’ every 1 minute…
Can you make a video on the game "The creeps"? Samson, who was the developer of camping, made that game and want to know your thoughts on it. Also, great video! I pretty much agree to all your points of these horror games. They're pretty much repetitive and sloppily made without any real effort made into it. People make these kinds of horror games now because they want robux mostly, atleast in my opinion.
Camping is pretty much like the Friday the 13th of Roblox. Not really great, let alone a masterpiece but has a huge influence for the horror genre, for the better or worse
I momentarily thought you were gonna mention DOORS because of how you actually put Figure in the thumbnail, Good job on getting my attention with that one! Also, About mentioning the Roblox horror games in 2016 at 9:40 You have to accept that it's 2024 now and there's no going back, There's still good horror games like my most favorite game DOORS, Or Mimic (I do see Mimic as middle)
oh, don't forget horror obbies (like papa pizzeria's) are not even scary. in the papa pizzeria obby, you can easily clip through and win the obby in less than like ten seconds. (making it boring to play)
@@toad786 what kind of bs is that? So youtubers can criticise devs but devs can't criticise youtubers for their video editing their points etc? Are you stupid? Why can't dev criticise youtubers but youtubers can? Devs work way harder and have more talent they're the ones who are more knowledgeable about the field than some youtuber. What an absolute brainlet
Its not exactly on topic but damn i never knew hunting season looks like that now. I remember it as a small and quiet horror game that reminded me of the shitty sirenhead games I used to play, which were honestly fun. It was flawed, obviously, but it was 100x more interesting and engaging than the current horror games people are playing on roblox.
I think for the most part, the repetitiveness and storyline of the game is all the matters. Without a storyline, it’s an add on that completely ruins experience of trying the game. With not that much repetitiveness, it could be fun and more intimidating and scary lmao. Another thing I have to say in this reply is that scariness DOES NOT equal loud noises. I actually felt like I was deaf for a millisecond of my life with the obnoxious noises some games have (doors and other rip off games). Lastly, I feel like when you are making a certain type of horror game, you need to see the genre instead of the roblox horror genre since it is a bad example of horror.
Idk why everyone complains about residence massacre, the game has a long day segment that isn’t even that long, it’s probably designed to make sure people playing alone have enough time to prepare, but everyone is playing multiplayer even though the game is best in singleplayer
Maybe its something I have but I HATE gory games especially if they don't put a warning, I'm fine with blood but once there is more gore included on it I will just give up XD
you know what's a good spooky game on roblox? scp 3008. it's not necessarily horror, but it's about the infinite ikea scp, and the whole aim is to build a base in the ikea to survive. let me tell you, for how simple the game is, it is leagues more fun than most other roblox games i've played. want to spend an eternity building a massive tower out of shipping palettes? go nuts. want to collect fat ikea bears and penguins and blahaj? oh baby. want to go exploring the ikea to build a civilization with your comrades? the world is your oyster. the atmosphere is great, the music is amazing, and it's just so fun. i've spent hours on that game with my partner.
ooh! also, cult of the cryptids. we never finished that game because... well i don't know but we never finished it. it is pretty fetch-questy, but damn it if it wasn't cool as hell to look at. also, judy. it was a nightmare.
I want to reccomend a game, Phighting! I've been playing it a TON and the fandom is fun, I think the gameplay is extremely smooth and fun, and i'd love to see your perspective on it. Sadly, the Phestival(big pick-a-team splatfest type event) ends today, but i'm sure you'd love it.
He never insulted doors, at 9:44 he mentions it and doesn’t say anything bad about it, yes there are very good Roblox horror games, but in the grand scheme of things there’s just way too many awful ones
I hate horror games that when you die (if you die) you have to play the whole game again just to reach that point again and realize there's another stupid little time trial button you've gotta do an obby while being chased by the monster to push it and die resetting your progress ONCE AGAIN! if you get any little thing wrong. Doors *cough cough*
As sad it is to say I agree, I also believe that if you dislike the direction the Roblox horror genre is going in, simply don’t play the games you think are bad. It’s the basic concept of natural selection. The better the game, the longer and better it will get. Sure, many games will still be bad, but if you find something you like, play it! Showing support for games trampled by the algorithm can and will make a difference.
I will never understand how people genuinely think the "if you dont like the game, dont play it" argument is valid.. like ok genius, of course im not gonna keep playing a game that i dont like. but guess what? i NEED to play the game in order to find out if i like it or not. so, are you expecting us to just predict how the whole game works before even joining it? this always just feels like a lazy attempt to sugarcoat a bad product to try and make it immune to critics
@@desgracainferno I wasn’t disagreeing with the video at all, in fact, I agree it is a problem with Roblox. If you see a trend of games that have similar looking thumbnails or are maybe made by a dev you’re not fond of, don’t play it.
@@lamm69420 but how are you supposed to criticize each game if you dont play them simply because the thumbnail is similar? that type of argument youre saying does not work
Before even watching the video, I gotta say, all roblox horror games are dragged out with more padding than garten of banban games (the worst horror games to exist outside of roblox) for example, that one game where you gotta spell out selfish like 3-4 times coulda been good if they removed that paper collecting added an ACTUAL non-repeatitive goal without bullshit every other cornor, I mainly say that because I find the concept of having your light go out having a friendly npc (could be an ally to make it more interesting) turn into the thing you're trying to avoid. Just finished the video, I agree on literally everything stated, I have a feeling the maze trend was started by "The Mimic" can't really be shocking though counting how many damn mazes it has.
These repeated structures/formulas r seen in so many horror games outside of Roblox too tho. I think the maze thing is probably the most unique 2 that platform
