one of the most important lessons i've learned from competing is understanding how results interact with the process of getting better, broke it down a bit to clear the air for people who are deep in that struggle. i primarily talk about melee but you can insert almost any skill/craft/hobby into what im talking about

I really needed to hear that at 13:00, especially coming from one of my favorites top player. If you don't have the right mindset, losing can make you feel bad to the point of forgetting that you're not necessarily a worse player than you were before losing. Thanks for the video. I definitely look forward to more content like this!

I appreciate the inclusion of the game footage for the situations you were describing, they definitely helped with seeing the points you were making. I definitely base my overall happiness on the end product instead of focusing on the journey to get there. I think I have been struggling with this more when I entered my professional life; the end product is correct, so therefore I should feel successful (or vice versa). But the real thing I should be looking at is how I have improved in the steps leading up to the end product and being content in knowing that even if I am not successful overall with a task, I have grown and learned new things. I don’t know if that makes sense, since rewatching this after seeing it live has made me think more about situations in my life. Thank you for that.

Loved the analogy of incrementally moving up the line. It applies to general skill acquisition so well and really makes you take a step back to acknowledge the benefits of small improvement in the long run.
