In a recent book launch on Savarkar, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, claimed that Savarkar wrote mercy petitions only on the advice of Mahatma Gandhi and that one should stop blaming him for the act. What Singh forgot was that Savarkar started writing mercy petitions within 6 months of being lodged in Cellular Jail in 1911 much before Gandhi came back from South Africa in 1915. But here are 6 more reasons why Savarkar needs to say Sorry 6 more times for acts that are much more serious and have caused immense damage - compared to writing mercy petitions.

Hindutva religion ka naam nhi "hind" desh ki bhakti bhavana = India ke liye patriotic feeling rkhne ki Bhawna hoti hai. doosri baat ye cheeze, Jo research bias hokar shuru hoti hai, whi se aise opinions bante hai, aisa to aap bhi keh chuke hai sir "Jo dikhta hai, wohi bikta hai" to Jo bikega aap wo banate hai, aur apke is research ki biasness ko - Research methodology me systematic error kehte hai, people who don't know what it is, systematic error [is] introduced into sampling or testing by selecting or encouraging one outcome or answer over others” . Bias can occur at any phase of research . therefore, me being a research scholar at a point of time, myself feel that your facts and data are drived with lot of biasness. I want, that people are given raw as it is series of facts from both the sides mentioning How, when, who,where, with whom, why- all of these questions are answered simultaneously from all the sides to give as it is picture. Given you are influencing a lot of minds, it's your duty to spread correct and wide range of information, leaving people to form their "own" opinion. - The "Real" Deshbhakt and Common Person of India.😮

all the points you said are correct and are also mentioned in detail in Vikram Sampath's book, so you saying no one from BJP and RSS will tell you this is wrong, however, most of his ideas/conclusions were because of the individual experiences he had at that time. Supporting someone doesn't mean you agree with each and every thought of that person, to put it in context if someone supports Mahatma Gandhi and considers him a freedom fighter he need not agree with his regressive opinions on caste-based discrimination, and his stance on alcohol and beef as mentioned in the Gandhian Principles of DPSP.

I can only think of two greatest leaders who followed a no compromise policy with the British and were very progressive in their thought process- Bhagat Singh and Subhash Bose. Ofcourse Nehru had quite similar ideology with the above two, but he later joined the Gandhian camp and negotiated with the British.

There were Mughals like Akbar, who even questioned Islam and created his own religion called din-i-ilahi when he thought that no other religion fulfilled his demands. He never imposed his religion on anyone. He abolished jiziya and treated people of all religions on par with each other. He had rajputs as his commanders and courtiers. India prospered a lot in his reign. Rulers like Shah Jahan and Jahangir contributed a lot to Indian culture. On the other hand, Aurangzeb was a bigot and oppressed Hindus and other religions. If you're trying to deflect the focus from Savarkar, then you've clearly failed.

Savarkar wasn't an Indian nationalist. He fought Independence struggle for the Peshua empire, not India. He worked against casteism, but wasn't a social reformer as such. His anti caste move was part of a Ghar Vapsi movement called the Shuddi movement. The fact that Hinduism didn't exist as a unified religion, was causing trouble for this fundamentalist movement.

Swatantryaveer Petition * Before writing Petition he had convinced the political prisoners in Andaman that cheating the enemy is the real truth, and to achieve that truth one may lie many times. He cited examples of Krishna, Krishna had accepted defeat before Jarasandh and Kala Yavan temporarily, to get full success at the final stage. *If we die our own death, we would be supporting the enemy. Enemy wants our energy diminished. With this philosophy, Savarkar always opposed going on fast, which helps the enemy, not us. *One who fears death at the enemy's hands is fit to die. This was Savarkar's philosophy. *On 5th May 1929, Savarkar wrote about him in a weekly' Shradhananda' that Jitender Nath's act was certainly praise worthy, but not an ideal to follow. It is not proper to sacrifice one's life for a trifling cause and to reduce the strength of his party. Our goal must be victory without suffering much loss and at the same time causing maximum damage to enemy. That must be our policy in war. Martyrdom could be an exception, but definitely not a positive step towards victory. His advice was so loud and clear.

Dear Aakash ji, Thank you enormously for your Well researched, indepth knowledge and very candid discourse on the reasons why Savarkar should say sorry to us. Most of your presentation was not know or alien to us. As the misinformed present defense minister Rajnath Singh unknowingly let the "Cat loose amongst the pigeons" and opened our eyes on the facts. The letter which was shown in the video where addressed himself to a "prodigal son" was written in 1913 .He met Gandhi in 1921 when he was shifted to Ratnagiri Jail,there probably he was advised to write a mercy petition by Gandhi himself.Before that from 1911-1920 during his stay in Andaman he wrote a dozen of mercy petition all of which were rejected

Used to be a subscriber. Just for kicks downloaded the book by Savarkar and read the chapter he mentions in the video. Turns out it wasn't as if Sav wanted Hindus to rape Muslims. Para after para it is about how Hindus didn't retaliate to Muslims brutalizing them because they believed in the Hindu virtues of ahimsa, chivalry in war etc. The chapter ends stating that you have to know the right place of violence and non violence. The message to Muslim of India in this book seems to be - know that you were Hindu once and you were fucked. Some times by force, sometimes by trick of words. Be Indian in spirit. Not some Hindu religious supremacy that Hindus were always best. Damn that was one jolly twisting of words. How do I believe anything you say. Unsubbed.
