My only problem with Rogue is that Shay's switch to the Templars happens too quickly. There should've been more conflict between him and Achilles and the other Assassins. I also believe that Shay should've been the one, who "opens" the Precursor Site in Haiti too. With Haiti and Lisbon combined, Shay's raging out on Achilles would've been more realistic and justified. There's also should've been more missions before we start taking over gang hideouts and rule over New York. I know that the devs only had 8 months to finish this game, but still. The story is fine, but the build up/pacing is lackluster.
I would also like to add we never actually see shay agreeing with the Templar beliefs. It doesn't feel like the game even criticizes the assassin's (like AC1 for example )just the specific ones shay fights.
Shay is my favorite AC character, he's so underappreciated all because his game didnt sell well and he came after who most people consider the second best protag which Edward Kenway. But Shay just has this charisma to him that no other AC character has, and he's such an interesting character. As he doesn't fully agree with either side, but goes with the side that he thinks is better. I still really want another game following Shay whether as a protag or a villain. I think it would of been cool to see Shay interact with Connor and Arno, and who knows maybe since they're all level headed individuals and with the theme of 3-Unity, a possible unity between the Assassins and Templars could happen at least between those branches.
If they make another assassin's creed game where you play as a Templar I'd feel the best way to do that without ruining rogue would be make the main character a kid who witnessed their parent get killed by a inexperienced assassin so the kid has a vendetta against the assassin brotherhood believing all assassins are merciless so they become a assassin hunter for the templars. I'd be interested in others thoughts of my idea. And what time period should it take place?
For me wend shay kill hope that wend he became FULL templar ,yeah after the earthquake shay work for templars and after monroe death he became a OFFICIAL templar but , i know shay still have a bit of HOPE to get the assassins to understand, but then he kill HOPE (get it kill hope beca- never mind😂) THAT moment was wend he became full templar and got FULL hatred for the assassins!
I think another reason why Shay worked as a character was because he never took pleasure in having to fight and kill his former allies. With each death scene, he expresses nothing but regret and sorrow for his actions. He always lamented what he was being forced to do and wishing there was another way to resolve the conflicts in the story. And I myself felt the same way when I had to make those kills...except Louis-Joseph; it was satisfying to shut him up after all his stupid 'cabbage farmer' comments.
Assassin Creed rpuge is my second ac game my first was vallhalla and i played for like a hour. But when looking i heard the theme of rogue and said why not and now i love the AC series and shay is still my faveroite MC and ahay is catholic wich i am to so i like him more.
Honestly with how rush it felt and the length of the game, sometimes i think it would have done better as as a DLC for blackflag❤. But i genuinely believe they mised an opportunity to make Shay a prominent antagonist in the series. Could have been Arno's nemesis especially when they made that connection that he killed Arno's father. It would have made for a compelling story if done right because we would've experienced Shay's build up to that point. I agree it was such a miss with that dude like how are you going to make that ending for rogue and that beginning of unity connection, and not go anywhere with it?
Wasn't ac 3 before Rogue? Nvm i just remembered its plot. I didn't care for rogue personally it kind of felt what Saints Row: Gat out of hell was to Saints Row 4, except for Black Flag. It felt like it should have been a dlc.
It's Rogue that took place before AC3 as Shay, Achilles, and Haytham are on the same generations. It's only the epilogue that took place after the events of AC3
@@imamfn i want to say, that both of us were wrong...because Ac rouge never took place after Ac3, since Ac3 ended in 1783, and Ac rouge ended in 1776. But Ac rouge takes place between the events of Ac3, since the plot is from 1752 to 1760 and Ac 3 starts at 1754, and it's prologue ends in 1760.
@@justaguy751 it is from the timeline points. However, from the plot points it's really clear that Rogue is intended to be AC3's prequel because it tells how the Templar grew so big in America Colonies & shows the reason why Achilles lives alone and being a handicapped. And for the epilogue, Charles Dorian says "Connor undid your Templar business" hinting that Connor already rebuild the Assassins Brotherhood in America *Sidenote*: And this is why I don't really like Rogue as it made some of the timeline in Kenway's Saga really messed up. I prefer to have a game which tells a backstory for Haytham (even though it already been done in the Forsaken novel)
@@imamfn Yes i was thinking about the timeline, and i know that Charles Dorian said that line...but i was thinking that Haytham was still alive that time, and basically he was the one who made the templar order happen in the Colonies...Shay just, helped in the proccess...i think Charles Dorian were just really sure that Connor will overthrown the templar order wich he did, but it was still questionable that he will succeed or not. Ac rogue was just a crash grab from Ubisoft, since it was the same price as Unity, and Ac rogue was made in 8 months only, wich is really short. For me, it made many things clear, but since when Ubisoft when they developed Ac3, Ac4 and Ac unity, Shay story didn't even existed, like not a single word about him in Ac3 and not a single world in Ac unity. It was last minute cash grab basically, but i didn't regreted it, cause Ac rogue is a great game, atleast for me
Wend hope try to kill shay she literaly had tears in her eyes and she poison the mansion and she left because she did not whant to see him die, that was a mistake, shay love hope that the only time you see him fully regretfull ,he even lower his head!
I dont think shay is tge perfect protagonist, but your opinion. But what J will say is assassin's creed rogue story was garbage, like why the heck is Achilles brotherhood like this ? Yes I know they said in a extremely short diolauge that Achilles son and wife passed but they coudve developed that more, and all of the other characters as well, they had basically just swapped the assassins and templars, and and WHY is adewale helping them ? He would never side with them, what kinda writing is this ?
Assassins were doing plenty of bad things in Revelations yet none of ye complained when master assaisn ezio blew up Cappodochia or burned downed the harbour
