Every generation for 100's of years, people think that they will be the once to be raptured. Throw that idea out of your head, live in the moment and for the future. You can do both.

I started going to church when I was 17. The church talked about the end times with apologetics and evidence to back it up. I can tell you I’m 48 now and you can’t predict the start of the end times anymore then the average person can predict thier own death. Plan for retirement and how you can help others for the present.

I think to live everyday as if Christ will return should not lead us to go on a spending splurge, and waste all our earthly goods. Instead, live for Christ everyday, and share the Gospel at every opportunity. And it’s Biblical to pray for Christ to return. There’s no problem I have today that the rapture won’t solve lol

So it could be today or thousands of years before he comes. Don’t worry about tomorrow for today has enough problems of it’s own. If Christ says the coming of the Son of man will be as the days of Noah, wouldn't it make sense to go and study how it was like in the days of Noah? The theory of the rapture is a false doctrine that the devil uses to make people believes they somehow will be raptured away before the great tribulation, therefore not preparing spiritually to go through that most trying period of earth history. Noah believed the flood was coming so he prepared himself and his family to go through that most trying time. Noah and his family were not raptured anywhere, they went through the flood. God protected them and kept them safe. It was the wicked who were taking away, it was the wicked who were raptured away. As the days of Noah so shall the coming of the Son of man be.

We don't know when the Rapture will happen, it may be another 2000 years until our Lord Jesus returns. There are definitely "birth pangs" happening, but you should still continue to invest enough to live on. People have squandered all their money or shortened their lives (Jim Jones) thinking the Lord was going to return the next day. Like Ramsey said, I would be happy to give up what I've saved, when I eventually see the Lord.

I grew up in a little church. Nothing was said about bible prophecy. The pastor just preached messages out of the bible. Our small church had about 32 per Sunday on a good day. My mother took me to church every time the door opened. There were no children my age. It wasn't until I moved back to my home town from Corpus Christi, Texas and then on to Houston did I hear a preacher talk about bible prophecy. His name was Hilton Sutton. He was talking about things happening around the world and how it was falling in place with bible prophecy. 30-40 years passed and things are really heating up. There are no more prophecies that need to be fulfilled before Jesus does a fly-by earth and picks up his church. The ministry I'm in is a nitch ministry. Our church has a computer ministry. Faith Center Computer Ministry. We take donated computer, both desk top and laptops and refurbish them and give them out to people that are looking for work, people who have children and need a computer for their school work and we support missionaries in the field. In this day you have to have a computer to do your work. The internet is essential for correspondence. One day when get to heaven we will not need any of earthly things. We just need to send souls ahead of us. I like to say we are on the 50 yard line of this age watching things fall into place. It's happening more and more rapidly.

Most of Christian teaching says we will be here for tribulation. The rapture is a pretty new interpretation of biblical scholarship

We know not the day or time when the Lord will return. It could be tomorrow, or it could be 1000 years. God says to save for the future.

There's a misinterpretation/misunderstanding of gnosticism here. Gnostics do not believe earthly possessions are evil, they believe that--much like Dave said--earthly possessions may distract one from the path of righteousness and must be treated as such.

The Book of Revelation clearly establishes that the Rapture cannot occur until the New York Jets win the Super Bowl again.

Regardless, shouldn’t matter how much money you had when you passed away. What should matter was where you happy during your life? Sad this society is so focused on status and money.
