Hi friends! I know my videos are few and far between these days but I promise I will get back on top of things once life slows down!
I initially became interested in Butler's Riley Dance Marathon last year because it shocked and attracted me how fervent my peers were for this organization. I could tell there was something different about the cause that fueled their fire - more than a leadership opportunity or a resume builder. At my first marathon last spring, I realized what all the hype was about - it was the kids! My heart was so inspired by the Riley kids who, despite their circumstances, have such joy and hope and grit. Their attitudes really made me evaluate my own heart and think about the ways in which I take the Lord's blessings, including my health, for granted. I think back and remember the smiles of the Riley kids who know they have a host of high school and college students rooting for them. I look forward and imagine if my child were to need care at Riley someday. I look at the present and realize that each year so much research, support, and care relies on the philanthropic efforts by students like me. This is what inspires and motivates me to give my time throughout the year for this wonderful cause.
