@@drazi3356 i find it to be a lack of creativity and further centralization of various mediums. Most if not all of the crossovers are objectively meh at best, and encroaching upon the game at worst.
What if that's the point? In casual, you could triple opponent's Creatures and ask them to politely kill the person furthest ahead. Slicer + Jeska is a death sentence.
Great breakdown! One notable thing that's easy to miss - the converted side of slicer is actually very important! Since it's less mana to cast and also has haste, you can bring Slicer into play earlier with it. It comes down turn 1 with Jeweled Lotus!
Love Slicer! Built a deck as soon as I saw him. Such a unique and fun way to get extra combats and give opponents enough incentive to keep him around if they're the gambling type
Now I understand why my opponents in my old CEDH group ''liked'' my old big bash Xenagos because their current group meta didn't have to worry about a silly BIG creature wrecking, all they worried about before was comboes. I really messed up their meta LOL I been using Slicer in my Daretti for giggles since Daretti can always bring them back :P
so would even a casual brew of slicer be considered decently high powered? From my experience playing it last weekend I feel like if people can't agree to remove slicer it just becomes a pain to deal with at fairly tuned power levels.
It should be fine. Slicer is even better in cedh because there’s so few creatures. In other power levels there is probably more blockers where it doesn’t become oppressive.
Slicer if build moderately focused can be very opressive in metas without a high density of removal or large board states to block with. Slicer is very good at the 1 thing he does, but your OPs can shut it off if they have answers.
Great vid, I love the Transformers cards. Just a correction, though, all 16 Legendary Transformers cards are not Secret Lair cards they're Universes Beyond cards that were in Brothers War
so I ended up building a budget deck with Slicer and came in 4th. The speed of slicer was *insane* and the only reason i got locked out was a dude played dranith magistrate
Slicer doesn't deal 18 damage to one target potentially on it's opening turn. You cast it for 2R, initially attacking for 3 damage and then it converts to the 3/4 Double Strike that gets passed around
True but slicer is by default goaded not only forcing him to attack, but also forcing him to attack someone who isn't you. That's why he is signifigantly better than Karona. Also Karona is very color intensive which having more colors is good in cEDH, but in an agro deck getting your commander out quickly and consistently is more important.
@@blablabla4513 I have a Karona deck and I had this worries about her not being goaded, but usually what ends up happening is that: 1- people always attack with Karona because it's a free resource there's no reason not to use, if you're not going to an opponent will. 2 - People don't usually attack you because karona is never perceived as the biggest treat on the table. You're 100% right about she being too color intensive for an agro strategy thought. Maybe a full on stax build with Karona as the win condition? but then the one player that Karona would get to take out first would definitely be the Karona player lol
Not sure if this is still needed advice, but take out the fast mana, add big goad effects and swap the stax for some voltron piece's should power it down nicely but it will never be below a 5-6 unless the table is very interaction heavy
I have a guy at my LGS who has a full proxied to the sky and beyond Slicer deck which he just plays and pubstomps 5-8 power level EDH decks cuz... why not. And he even said it was fun for him. Ughhh
