Why (sniper) Defenders are AWESOME in Fortnite Save the World! 

Fun fact: you can put around 10 defenders in storm shields so that could be really chaotic if you give them something like a room sweeper or a T.I.O.D.

I have 1,127 days and didn't use defenders in my early game play much. But after grouping with an Epic moderator for a while I started to see their value and have used them since. I partly agree with your opinion on shotgun and melee defenders, however, your use of them in the video was an example of how not to place them. Leaving your defender completely exposed is asking for them to be knocked down, especially in the path of husks and mist monsters. I nearly always provide them walls with windows, plus ceiling cover for beehives. For shotgun defenders I add Wall Lights and/or other traps that aid in their defense. You can also get creative with a pistol defender and a Space Invader if you place them at the end of a tunnel that allow the shots to ricochet many times to maximize the damage. I do concur that sniper defenders are probably the best type of defender with the exception that assault rifle defenders have a much wider variety of weapons to use. For this reason I wouldn't dismiss assault rifle, pistol and melee defenders. Instead I would focus on weapons and consider what weapons can be used in different situations. Then pick the defender that is best suited for that role. Defenders can be a lot of fun and are very helpful in completing daily weapon type kill missions. I would encourage everyone to give them a try and find fun ways to incorporate them, but do so with care and not leave them exposed.

Marking a enemy (skull over his head) will cause Defenders to focus fire on the target.

As someone who plays mostly solo and uses sniper defenders often, PLEASE, put them away from your base about 5-6 tiles away, with a staircase going up 2 tiles, then put a small row wall around their platform, and a trap on the floor at the bottom of the staircase, works like a charm and they dont need to be boxed in completely losing range

I know, everyone prefers the Obliterator... that being said, I have a Neon Sniper with the 6th perk of standing still increased damage. I always put my defenders under a roof building piece that keeps them motionless, constantly giving the defender a permanent damage increase. The Neon Sniper allows the defender to maintain a huge range, something the Obliterator doesn’t do while under a roof piece (as you mentioned). I guess the best argument is the cost of energy ammo, but I’ve never had a problem with that. I actually enjoy farming. Anyways, I’ll always prefer the Neon Sniper for defenders for that reason only. Also, They are great at picking out that random Husk that spawned in the ground during some glitched encampments missions.

I've used bows on sniper defenders. Also pistol defenders give the greatest variety of weapons as a pistol version is available for each basic weapon type. Example, I use pistol defenders with freedoms harold for explosive coverage. (Dragon pistol for shotguns, Jack's revenge is a good sniper etc.) Being able to run submachine guns as well is also a great plus.

Hi Beast, try any of the following when time/availability permit: AR defender with a semiautomatic Rifle (Rat King, Hunter Killer, Buzzcut) or slowfiring AR (Tiger) Pistol defender with Freedom's Herald or Ginger Blaster (when overleveled) Sniper defender with Deathwing is pretty nice (when you dont use obliterators).

One notable exception to the defender placement count are SSDs, where you can place 7 defenders as the leader with no other players in your party after you unlocked them during the campaign missions. Non-leader players can only place defenders in the place of missing players, so that's up to 2 defenders. They can absolutely shred anything. One other thing to point out is that minibosses with Ricochet will cause defenders to kill themselves. Don't forget to res them after they do.

I really like my AR defender with triple crit damage. Just throw on a founders quickshot and she shreds everything

Personally, I like to use pistol defenders because I have the Ginger Blaster schematic. I like the extra heals when the defender eliminates a husk.

personally i have a single defender that has crit rating and double crit damage that always uses an obliterator with (also) crit rating and crit damage the guy melts husks really easily

The pistol defender was hip firing which was why she wouldn’t lock onto farther targets

I got rid of my Neon Sniper. The only use I can see for it now is to keep tabs on what enemies are approaching in harder events.

13:40 sniper defenders can't "see as far as the eye can see".... Their max range is 5 tiles, reduced to 4 tiles if they're shooting through walls with an obliterator.

Tiger Assault Rifle from the military set works too if you're trying to mix it up. As always, great vid packed with info.

Defender pad is the cheapest easiest trapping imho. I place them on platform w 4 walls below (1 tile up) I place 2/3 bars wide 1/3 bars high wall edit around him, with a roof, diagonally edited (lobber protection) They help w especially when no ones at shelter for mini defense before repair shelter main defense after 8m before 4m defense. I use assault primarily sometimes sniper, with health, mag size, crit rating, so with stacking CR triple CD pain train, it really shreds. Occasionally dbl reload anti air nearby. He will normally stay alive in 160s, I rarely up him more than once. triangle roof helps as does his stats(cr/mag) with triple cd stacking cr pain train. Again if they put crazy 30 lobbers, I just despawn. My snipers I use crackshot like you said, it's decent. I have like 35+ decent leveled up legendary Defenders 😂. Awesome video though. Im really glad the channel has such an extensive library of videos.

i have an ar defender with cr cd and dmg that does okay with a bundlebuss, as well as a pistol defender with double cr that i give a triple cd ginger blaster which is kinda cool for healing but exactly snipers are by far the only ones really worth using

I just hope this was intended for them or they getting a "fix". sometimes in events or kill challenge enemies spawn in a wall and the only way to kill them is with a sniper hero with the obliterator sniper

ginger blaster is good for support defenders. Hydraulic sniper and pistol are both good for stunlocking and making everyones ears bleed

12:27 didn't they also have it so lobbers would take massive damage from melee but almost no damage from anything else? Was a pain in the ass because it meant you had to leave base *and* have a melee weapon equipped so you could melee it. I think they changed it so they can just be damaged by anything though.

Melee defenders are actually absurdly tanky

When your in a level 160 twine mission even with a full lobby you can still drop defenders I believe you can have up to 6 defenders in 160 zone with 4 teammates

I really like Legendary Rifle Defender - just make sure to keep her elevated, and build her some platforms so she can move. Boxing her is a bad idea all around. Keep looking for that Legendary Sniper Defender...i guess i could flux...but...nah.

How about the bugged "dragon roar" ?. If a rifle defender use it, it constantly blocks the husks and smashers.

Is it a more economic option to run brightcore obliterator on sniper defender? Since your recent video discuss the heavy hitting weapon like sniper or shotgun will have similar ttk.
