Why so judgmental?

What's Buggin' You?

I asked Dr. Frank Turek why he (and Christians in general) are so judgemental. This is a question I get asked by students, so I wanted to see what he had to say. This opened up a conversation on morality and rights, and how an atheistic worldview falls short on supporting either.
It turns out that everyone makes judgements. On what grounds can we legitimately make them?, is a grounding question that we must consider.
I wonder if the original complaint is more about the attitude of some Christians than about Christianity itself.
Check out Dr. Turek's website @

@@WhatsBugginYou True, Harry. All of this is stage. Christians enjoy lying to us. This is what you get witih people who believe that a god has given them unconditional and eternal forgiveness for EVERYTHING. They're going to lie and lie and lie, and not feel anything bad about it. Remember, they have nothing in the way of sympathy, empathy, or Humanity. They're not capable of caring about humans, so they PRETEND to care about humans by declaring themselves to be Christians. The fact that we are in 2024 and people like him push iron age myological ideas onto people isn't called for in this day and age. What religion does is it divides people. It did then, it does now. What is so wrong with me living my life and you living yours? I don't care what Frank says as he goes on grifting and making money off of people who want to be decent but get their religion played upon. I care when the government dictates that I now have to follow a religion I don't believe in. And you should too Trip. Yes you have a good job I am sure trying to shore up the indoctrination on kids before they go off into the real world, but what happens when the SC suddenly says something you care about is no longer valid? And it's going to happen at this rate. So what do you do? Shrug it off and move on like your "getters" tell you to, or do you actually have a backbone? Every religion thinks they have THE answer to everything. Every sect in that religion thinks they know THE right way to follow that religion. Those of us who are secular say all of those people should be allowed to live their lives how they want, but they don't get to impose their views on everyone else. That isn't Tureks LAME duck argument on judging the judgmental. It's as juvenile as saying your bigoted towards bigots'. That is making a statement though. You cast this as "asking Frank a question that's been bugging you and your students." which cannot be the case. And i can also honestly say that pretending to know something that i dont know would be intelectualy dishonest. Now you might ask "Ha, so you DO know that being dishonest is objectively wrong, dont you?" No, all that i know is that i subjectively repel dishonesty because i dont like it. @@WhatsBugginYou Secular ethics has plenty of arguments for objective morality devoid of theism (and they are _way_ more compelling than "God said so, therefore it is wrong" which isn't objective at all). But objective judgements? All that requires is a foundation, a goal and that is it. With those you can form objective judgements.
