This is how a rich country should spend its excess money: helping poorer countries become more prosperous, NOT building up the military and instigating conflicts around the world.

I travelled on the Laos-China railway last week from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. Absolutely stunning! This is way ahead of anything in Europe and the US and puts the west to shame. Well done China.

China does not demand bases, nor does it interfere with who leads the country. China, unlike the US, is not interested in whether the leader is pro China or pro US.

China was once a dirt poor, war-torn, starving country in the past, but China has found success through infrastructure and we are offering the same path to success to other developing countries through the Belt and Road Initiative.

They're doing great things in LATAM and Africa. Some of the African leaders (e.g. Namibia) have been clapping back at the Western holier-than-thou attitudes... China doesn't plunder but actually helps build needed infastructure.

You have to ask why countries around the US are almost all poor and under developed. It is not a coincidence, it is a calculated and deliberate move by the US to keep them that way.

Take a look Russia, their foreign reserves nearly 0% in US dollars. That's why, Russia is not so affected by US sanctions nowadays, world should note this, following China

As a US-Born NIcaraguan I truly hope China and Russia usher in a multipolar world where all my fellow Latin Americans can thrive!

Why? Because Latin America nations knew that the US is not interested in helping them to turn their countries into developed nations, otherwise the US would have no control over these nations, like plotting propagandas and forcing regime changes to serve US’s interests. As for China, they know China will help them to build their basic and needed infrastructures to boost up their economies and leading towards prosperous directions. In return, China can continue to have a win-win trading relationship with these nations in long term. In general, US always complain about illegal migrants crossing US’s border. However, the US pretends not knowing the root cause of this issue which indirectly/directly caused by their foreign policies. For China, she believes when a country is prosperous, why would anyone wanted to be an illegal migrant.

what an incredible difference in how China is building up Central and Latin America, while the only thing USA did was deal with regime change policy in central and latin-america

China and Russia are facilitating the global transition towards a *multipolar* world dominated by multiple voices, rather than the *unipolar* world dominated by a single voice (namely that of the U.S and its "allies").

Latin American countries urgently needs to de-dollarize to free them from the USD debt shackles and compromised national sovereignty. Unfortunately the 🇺🇸 is already leaning heavily on Lula 🇧🇷 with intimidation and threats behind the scene.

First thing first - Latin America needs to do is enact some laws to curb foreign financial support given to local and foreign NGOs, laws to ban foreign NGOs from getting involved in local politics and finally to keep an eye on these NGOs that are influenced by foreign powers or vehicles of foreign powers to foment colour revolutions and coup d'e'tats.

in Jamaica Chinese firms have: - Increased the size and capacity of the major shipping port - doubled the size of the main highway into the capital - built a brand new high-way connecting the north and south of the island cutting that travel time to less than half - extended existing highways - built a brand new highway to the east of the capital (project underway) - increased and extended roads all over the capital city So, even if resource extraction was their objective, they've also made sure that the local people enjoy _some_ results of their presence/involvement.

Continent Africa, Continent Latin America, the Arab World and Asia including India and Pakistan except Japan and South Korea, have all preferred Russia and China over the US.

Never good to be taken over by any country; it is good to be totally independent and trading with all countries for mutual benefits.

I really do believe that China is a force for good,or at least positive economic development. ...Which is more than I can say for the U.S.

Because All poor countries has 2 options to choose. Either be poor and suppress by the US for life or make a deal with China and have a chance of success in life for your People. China provide the tools to help poor countries for an exchange as partnership. US did not. that's why Latin America, Middle Eastern Countries, and Africa joined hands with china. because they are asking themselves. Are we going to continue to live like this for the rest of our lives or are we going to do something about it?

Bolivia benefits much much more in regards to key infrastructure. China is currently constructing the highway which inter connects the the three main cities spanning from east to west, addressing one of the rainiest areas in the region, creating a series of tunnels and other mechanisms which were impossible to foresee in Bolivia. Furthermore, a recently signed MOU between the national lithium company YLB and CATL has also brought forth renewed hope in the Bolivian lithium sector.

U S desperately NEED China’s help to build its infrastructure.

It makes perfect sense for China to help modernise infrastructures all around the world. These regions will grow quickly as a result and become the future big economies. Trade and prosperity all around and not wars all around the world. Economic interests will overcome the frictions of ethnicity, national boundaries, political & religious ideologies.

The end of the west hegemony

The last thing the US wants to see is a strong and independent LatAm. The US needs a weak LatAm so it can easily be controlled and manipulated. LatAm would never come out of the US shadow if it lets the US to continue to dominate them for the rest of the century. The only way to achieve independent sovereighty is to grow stronger economically, this is where China is willing to help, because China is all for a multipolar world and against Single-Country Hegemony. China believe an affluent world means an affluent China. This is why China is sharing its wealth with poorer countries so that the whole world can grow richer together. And China calls this "The Shared Future of Humanity".

Cyrus, China lost a ton of money in Mexico after the Mexican cancelled the High Speed Rail contract, the Chinese won't come to North America anymore.

I wish Chinese "colonialism" would bring some shiny new trains to New York City.

US and the West always put a caveat in their aid programs, some of those LatAm countries dont find acceptable. Each and every aid will always have conditions pertaining to climate change, gender equality, foreign policy requirements, etc...

The western business model is never suited for infrastructure projects that has little to no short term return. Furthermore western investing nations cannot uproot & take back those infrastructure if they don't make money or if ties with the country turn sour. China on the other hand isn't so concerned with possible losses. They aren't looking for quick payback. They are willing to stomach the risks of losing money. They know they can't take back infrastructure assets already sunk into the foreign country. China's goal is all long-term. If those nations they invest in win, then China also potentially win by the goodwill being cultivated & creation of new markets for Chinese trade.

China has been the main trading partner for North America (including USA) for a long time. So it comes as no surprise that Latin America will increase its trade with China. Just because you trade with a country doesn't mean you agree with their political system. For the record, Taiwan trades heavily with China as well.
