as a guyanes eI disagree with you. the current president of brazil has been installed. brazil uses electronic voting which means the elections are not correct. I am an elections expert and I say the brazil elections are rigged. china has its own problems and the so called silk road is a dead duck. I wonderif you are a chinese shil.
It’s amazing when leaders of country’s do BUSINESS together respectfully instead of one country bullying, threatening and negotiating with the threat of war or blackmail. We all know who’s who.
China is no saint, but just knowing that if Brazil is not interested on the deal the other part will not try no overthrow the government and install a puppet on its place is very refreshing
Dear Mr Jansen, As a Brazilian, I hope for a bright future for all BRICS+ countries For this to happen, the same construction mistakes as the G20, World Bank, UN, IMF, etc., must not be made; and, in addition, we need to keep the planet we share alive. History shows that the gods of contradiction never sleep, and it is up to leaders to humbly overcome the problems that certainly arise. Brazilian greetings.
While the western countries lectures democracy and human rights statements that are not even real because of what is happening in the world currently, Chinese come up with tangible economical prosperity to their Chinese Globalization angles.
the Multi-Polarism of BRICS is designed to provide Secure and Sustainable Development and World Trade, as a Way to Peace throughout the World, or am I being over optimistic 🤔?
Just like Italy, both Argentina and Italy regret canceling the Belt Initiative agreement with China. Now, they know what they have lost and eagerly hope to rejoin.
It takes time. 1st they want to economy on its knees, then U $ A will buy up all assets 1 cent on the D0llor investment corporations will privatize everything
You might be underestimating the Argentines. The plan might be to soak up all the investments that leave America and Europe, as their economies weaken.
Am I wrong thinking there might be a front opening between Brazil and Argentina, if I remember right there was already infiltration of covert agents happening with some regularity.
Just Look at how well those US weapons worked during Ukraine's war against Russia, as well as its recent defeat in Afghanistan (aka the graveyard of empires) on August 15, 2021.
@@robertko5425Afghanistan? Your delusional. And look how well those US weapons have slaughtered more than 15000 children in Gaza. And look at how those US weapons have decimated Iraq and hundreds of thousands of their people
As a South African, I can confirm that business with China actually makes a positive difference, at least from what I've seen. I can't say the same for the US.
@@ToniDuke-s7k Mexico will probably be the last country to join due to danger from the US so Central America should be one of the last regions to enter BRICS. The US has to be weak enough to not attack other countries. BRICS has to walk a tightrope until the G7 finally falls on it's face which won't be too long from now.
Do not be naive. We don't know what China will do in the future if it dominates militarily. Given that they are starting to threaten their neighbors with military force now that they are relatively strong does not bode well. Remember dictatorships are relatively unpredictable.
China's aim is to shut those military bases without a war, starting with the dollar reserve statute, right now the US is spending 1 trillion in interest on its debt alone, once the fed can't export its dollar as many countries stop using it inflation will go up as all; that dollars they created will come back home to roost.
Not so simple in spite of US imperialism and double standards. USSR industrialized by getting US architects to build mass production factories. Stalin and Kruschev admitted USSR would have lost in 1941 without US Lend Lease aid. China was liberated from Japanese occupation by US war in Pacific! India was freed from British looters and famine-creators by FDR forcing Churchill to sign Atlantic Declaration in return for Lend Lease. Unlike Russia and China, USA is not a reactionary empire.
@melusinhlapo6903. ----- If one analyzes current BRI projects, it is apparent that China is quite good at constructing the projects, but the projects themselves make no sense economically. Best example of this is the Gwadar port in Pakistan (who is a key Chinese ally). The port looks modern and beautiful, but in 2023 they only received 23 ships all year. Total disaster and now Pakistan has to pay them back for the white elephant.
As an American living here in Brazil it's very sad to see America spend their money for endless wars and not come down here to Brazil and invest in all this natural resources and help these people that are living in poverty
Brazilian here. The US has always been considered a "HUGE" trading partner for Brazil, but honestly, the "american" products that the average citizen gets are all manufactured in Asia: sneakers, phones, computers... American car brands that decided to open factories here are mostly leeches that give us nothing in return, with no regards to worker rights (looking at you, Ford). One could say that the US is simply the landlord of the world, producing nothing themselves while punishing those who don't comply. I'm here for a new age of trading with China, hoping for the best for both sides.
but only for a little while! make no mistake, China wants to rule the world no less than others, and the notorious mass murdering WEF has said, it wants CHINA to be the POLITICAL MODEL FOR THE REST OF THE GLOBE! so there you have it, now lean back and contemplate
Zero sum, and the necessity of getting the big part of it. It has worked quite well for them the last 75 years. We wonder what will happen with them when no one agrees with those "terms" anymore. It's a profound change, which they are fighting with any means, often nefarious.
It's the fault of the USA itself, which has always despised Latin America! Now don't complain that the region is going to the other side of the force! Those not of assistance open competition! Making it very clear that Brazil is not pro-West or East, it simply follows its interests, it is pro-Brazil!!!
Regarding ports: a couple of years ago I saw a CNBC documentary with a diagram comparing the hundreds of Chinese ports in foreign counties, Vs the thousands of US military bases around the world. The comments section saw through that nonsense 😅
Some countries has the policy of "If you aren't on my side, you are my enemy"! That works pretty well on countries with weak leaders. It stops working when the bully weakens, which is now becomming apparent to many of the bullied countries. It might become an avalanche, when countries see that there's strength in unity., and that the bully can't cope with the multitude of those who refuse their tactics.
Oh, you mean all countries led by Europeans. We know. We all know the global mess their appetite for colonialism has created. The US just beat the rest of them at their diabolical scheme.
@@TheScotian82 that's why America supported wars in central America and upheld dictatorships aka banana Republics as long as the dictator was American friendly, democracy was not high on their list.
As a brazilian everytime i see this "spy shit" from USA about chinese companies always sounds like "OMG they are doing just like we do with google, Facebook and anything else"... Sometime ago the USA tried to make Brazil buy the 5g from some euro companie more expensive and worse tecnology with this "they are chinese spy shit", while USA had access to data from the Brazilian presidential email...
Dream of high speed trains all night:):):) when I came to Brazil in the 80th I took a train from Brasilia to Sao Paulo, which took 24 hs!! It was a very interesting journy, but still prefer high speed!😅
@@eulescholz8530 Brazil needs to diversify its modes of transportation. The way it is now, is mostly roads and planes. We can keep the train that takes 24h, sure. But we also need high speed rails and water transportation too. Not just for us to enjoy shorter travels but also to transport goods and services, reaching the outskirts of the country, developing the interior of the country that is land locked. Foment migration to other regions so the population its not so concentrated in the coast line mega cities.
A port, a road and a rail helps all serve all, not just China. US corporations will benefit from growing economies. In reality, the US should be collaborating with China, not frustration infrastructure building good for all. But peace is not what the US nor its weapons industry wants.
if us government cared about good economics, then they'd have let banks fail in 2008 instead of gouging the taxpayer. Anyone trying to argue against this fact probably got kickbacks, or is related to someone who did.
@user-rk9it9hz6g US corporations helped develop China, there's no question about it, but they wouldn't have moved their production to China if the physical as well financial infrastructure had not been there. In the last analysis, it's the CPC that has made China great. Today, it outproduces both the US and EU combined.
Indeed. We already do though. Our main semiconductors chips company is called CEITEC. It sells integrated circuits for applications such as medicines, blood products, people and vehicles, as well as authentication, inventory management and assets control. There's also the Chipus company, which projects chips and sell these projects to Asia, US and Europe.
2200 years ago the original Silk Road started from China ending up in Afghanistan and later into Europe. 2013 saw the revival of this silk road under Belt Road initiative. China never colonizes however always focussed on trading because money makes the world go around. there is a nation which built 650 military bases all over thinking that when push comes to shove, boots on the ground is a must...that is century old strategy which is obsolete, dinosaurish and dead...when nations lay down their weapons and turn into plowshare then there is no time wasted on skirmishes wars occupation. even Saudi and Iran saw the need to reconcile and so did 14 factions of Palestine came together to put down their warring destructive bitterness to form a coalition so that they can administer Palestine when and if UN ever give it a seat as a member. China took a page from the playbook of the Marshall Plan and now share the initiative to those who wants it. Never forcing Never oppressing Never suppressing. Fostering goodwill and economics are the strategy for 21st century
@@Decoy0527 Lol. That's not how currency markets work. The currency is either viable and superior, or you are literally on the losing team. America is about to understand what it feels like to be on the losing team; and so will all it's business servants.
@@Uncle_Dave_Dave what are you talking about? Milei was given a government that was spending itself to death a quickly stagnating economy, living standards that were dropping and on top of that the entire Argentine government is against him. Only USA experienced 60% inflation over the last 4 years, that's because Americans don't understand 1 economics, 2 geopolitics, 3 commodity markets, 4 currency markets 5 i could go on.
I think philliphine people just fueled by western conflict on small dispute about some sea area. That small thin make worse for Philliphines that is what western wants always
Acredito que o problema entre a China e Filipinas é a localização, a disputa do mar da china é critico. Eu como sul americano sei muito bem como é ter uma superpotência ao norte querendo fazer do seu pais o quintal deles.
The conflict is partially about China not only claiming parts of The Philippines' waters but also sending ships into them for fishing and other purposes, and bullying local fishermen and the local coast guard. All of this is not in alignment with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
China has a new development model for the South American region: "For me to win, my partner does not necessarily have to lose." It is the so-called win-win and this is good for everyone.
China is attempting to vassalize south america through increasing it's economic dependence on it. Same it's doing to Russia. Get a grip, nothing China does it for "win-win" for the other nation.
Right! maintaining good relationship with US for “security reason” is actually to prevent or avoid unilateral sanction or regime change potential. On the other hand, China doesn’t do any of that as Chinese just want to trade or do business based on mutual-agreed terms that is a win-win for both sides.
China and Brazil enjoy a great economic and political relationship. USA has an abrasive relationship with Brazil. RBI will bring prosperity, peace, and higher standard of living for the Brazilian people and people of neighboring countries.
Brazil was also concerned about China's dominance of trade and possible negative implications that could come with this dependence in the future, but this is something that cannot change anymore. China will be the world's superpower.
Chinas trade is based on mutual benefit, as to grow your partners alongside yourself, because if everybody prospers trade will get better. as your partners flourish you can get more imports and exports. win win cooperation. as in contrast to exploitative "trade" which the USA practices by extorting their subordinates for the empires "protection".
@@j.cravani4444 Nobody does it for free, but China has maintained a position of respect and mutual benefit for a long time. They have consistently maintained a friendly foreign policy.
China doesn't seek to be the world's superpower, because that concept has no future. Its not beneficial for anyone, even the superpower in the long term, as seen with the US situation. A win-win concept is much more productive than playing world police.
China is the greatest civilization historically and going into the future. It has declined several times but always returns to it's position in the world as the leader in many areas.
The plan is that there will be a Brazil Peru train connecting Peru's Chancay port to China's Shanghai port. This port will be inaugurated directly by President Xi Jinping at the 2024 APEC Peru Summit.

Brazil is being governed by a gang of thieves and traitors. There was a coup d'état in 2022 carried out by the supreme court. In January 2023, the Brazilian armed forces committed "Perfidy" against their own people, a crime against humanity!
As a Brazillian, I’m glad to see this move. Brazil is a huge country and it’s a strategic place around the world, as it occupies almost the south american continent. What concerns me is the corruption and the hidden agenda and influence USA historically have in this area. Not many people know, but it was an American move that boosted the army against Brazil’s president in 1968 and stablished a coup. This is what USA did the most in the XX century, and now with its economics in a downfall, its political influence is no longer relevant as this man has been saying: China is offering something “tangible” when you deal with them.
One important point is "promoting democracy and the rule of law." It’s quite obvious that this only makes sense to U.S. citizens. When you're Brazilian and have suffered from a coup d’état orchestrated by the USA, it's impossible to buy into this narrative, and this has happened across Latin America. This is exactly the difference. China does not claim that its values are superior to others; they respect people and their cultures. They just want make money.

It's wonderful for Brazil to join the BRI. It is good not only for Brazil, but for the entire Latin America. Brazil can also maintain its good relationship with the United States. Many countries do.
Imagine the massive opening up that will occur with rail upgrades from Brazil through to the new ports on the Peruvian Pacific coast ready to ship across the Pacific.
China is a Unique, a Wonder Nation which has never taken advantage of any country, whether rich or poor, but only helped one and all. Only mistake it made was bailing out US from the mess of 2008 financial collapse.
As a brazilian, I am very happy to see China growing and USA loosing stage. I hate how usa has been involved directly in every single latam military dictatorship, specially here in Brazil, where the CIA have delivered information, trained, and supported the torture against the Brazilian people. It's truly a shame for the usa such imperialism
Cyrus, just a small correction. The port of Chancay is pronounced as Chan-Kái, the ending rimes with "pie". In Spanish the letter "c" is always, invariably, pronounced as "K" before the strong vocals "a" and "o". Just saying. Thanks for the good news. Brasil is busy building roads to Chancay, the inauguration of the port is scheduled for the end of this year.
People usually think that ports brings ships that bring goods and comercial agreements. Actually it’s the opposite, comercial > ships > ports. Those ports are just the consolidation of what already exists.
If Brazil don’t take their infrastructure they will chose another country and Brazil loses. Even if Brazil built the biggest port ever, they will chose another country and Brazil loses. They have the ships , shipping company decides where to land the goods.
It's an oversimplification of China's soft power strategies and influence in the region. It's not as innocuous as it seems. Through economic agreements they exert political intervention.
I plan to retire at 62 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life. I could fully just rely on only my SS if I wanted to when that times arrives but I'll also have at least one pension, a 403 (b) and a very prolific lnvestment account with my Abby Joseph Cohen my FA. Retiring comfortably in the US these days is almost impossible.
This will be good for China and Brazil. It will be a win-win situation. Former Brazilian president is the current BRIC's bank president. She has a lot say in the financial decision to help BRI projects, which Brazil will benefit.
Being the B in BRICS+ many countries understand how important Brazil is. Resently Jane Yellen went there to stop deforestation and so on. I hope Brazil will stay neutral and be in charge of it’s own destiny. I love the books of Jorge Amado! ❤

As a Brazilian I'm satisfied with the partnership. But like any partnership with any other potency (US, mainly), we must avoid being naive that this is only for our good. I think that this is another type of imperialism.
I come from Peru, and now i can say that china has invested in projects and infraestructura. The big problem with USA is that your government saw south america just like a land of resources to buy cheap, and never worried to create real comercial partnership.
