Steve Ray is a convert to the Catholic Church and the author of three best-selling Ignatius Press books (Crossing the Tiber, Upon this Rock, and St. John’s Gospel). He speaks at conferences around the world. He is a regular guest on The Journey Home and has appeared on many other radio and TV programs, including Fox News. He is writer, producer and host of the 10-part video/DVD series The Footprints of God: the Story of Salvation from Abraham to Augustine filmed entirely on location in the Holy Land and surrounding countries. Steve and his wife Janet and are certified guides to the Holy Land and lead pilgrimages throughout the Middle East and Rome. He and Janet live in Michigan. They have four children and ten grandchildren.

Where do I start? 1. What is worship? Is it the liturgical mass? Where do we see that in scripture? Just one example please. How does the Bible describe worship? John 4:23 …the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in truth….. John 4:24. God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Does this sound liturgical yet? John 3:3. …you must be born again. John 3:5 Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. I contend that the word water here is not referring to literal water. It is referring to God’s word. See 1 Peter 1:23; James 1:18; Galatians 3:2 Acts 10:44-47 gives a good example of someone hearing the word of God, believing and receiving the Holy Spirit. The true worshippers therefore are born again believers, receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:1. I beseech ye therefore brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service ( some versions translate this is your spiritual worship). Ps 51:17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit , a broken and a contrite heart , O God thou will not despise. Galatians 2:20. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God…… This is the essence of true worship. Being born again of the Spirit. Offering your body a living sacrifice (dead to self). Christ now living in you and through you. Liturgy not necessary. I get yo the rest of his lies later. Stay tuned. Btw: Catholic which became Baptist.
