I have a clear memory of my first encounter with Mr. Cuddles, I was at the mountains looming for Cyclops blueprints, and then I heard a roar, me being naive and optimistic chalked it up to a stalker or a bone shark. Boy was I wrong, he grabbed me, my Seamoth was fine, all I remember is screaming in the middle of the living room with my whole family there. To this day, no matter how strong I am I still don't go near the mountains nor any place with reapers, I've never gone to the Dunes. Ever. That's how afraid I am.

My most terrifying memory /experience in SubNautica was when I attempted to see what was in the depths of the Crater Edge with my Cyclops. Nothing obviously, but I didn't know that at the time as it was my first playthrough. I had previously attempted to swim across it by my lonesome self at night thinking that a light spec in the distance was a reachable location. I eventually gave up and swam back as I was not getting any closer (obviously) and my AI warned me of the extreme dangers. Later on I had finally at long last built myself the Cyclops. It was quite the exciting achievement for me at the time and I used it for pretty much all travel between my bases and had many resources on it. Eventually I decided to check out the Crater Edge again. But THIS time I had my Cyclops with ALL the Depth Modules included. Curiosity got the better of me and I really wanted to see if there was anything down there. For all I knew there could have been something important down there and I didn't really think much about the perfectly shear edge. (*cough cough* generic edge of map stuff) So down I went at a respectable clip when, not one but THREE Ghost Leviathans one after another started pounding my sub. I'm sure you can just imagine the sheer terror I experienced when I saw them for the first time threw the forward porthole. I think I even let out a yelp. After I got over my shock and fear I then frantically shut off my sub's engines and all of my sub's external and internal lights thinking that they would attract the monsters out side. After putting out all of the fires I then sat at the helm for several long minutes trembling in fear as I watched the Ghost Leviathans circling around me and the Critical Hull Integrity alarm going off. Eventually I built up enough courage to exit the my sub so that I could repair the damage. As the Leviathans were still there I had to dodge all over the place and make several trips back inside for a quick moment of respite. After it was fully repaired (and it was a miracle that I never died) I then slowly and ULTRA cautiously started to make my way back to the surface by starting engines in silent mode, rising up a couple meters, then stopping engines for a few minutes to let the Leviathans calm down. It took multiple jumps and it was super intense and stressful the entire time but I was eventually able to safely get back to the surface with minimal damage. This game seems to have a way of punishing you for making stupid mistakes and this time (and I'm still not quite sure how) I made it out scot free with only a slap on the hand. This was by far my most terrifying experience in SubNautica to date. Its experiences like these that make this so much fun and exiting, even games that were suppose to be scary didn't scare me half as much as this game did or keep me so much on edge when I first played it.

I love the ghost leviathans, they are scary if you don't know where they are(the sounds are awesome), but if you want to challenge yourself you can try to kill one, did it once, and then started building the rocket in the void xD. It was like I had an audience to see me leave

The most intense moment I had with Subnautica was when after getting the Sunbeam countdown I decided to properly visit this strange building on the island before they arrive and take me home. While the countdown was running I learned what the buildings purpose is and then frantically tried to do something -- anything! - before the Sunbeam came into range, some way to contact them, some way to quickly disable the building. Then in the end watching helplessly as the Sunbeam arrived...

i love the time capsule idea in the game. i had a time capsule that literally made me emotional. i found it in the dunes so i was pretty stressed with reapers roaring around me. it had a statis rifle and a few pieces of magnetite in it, and the picture was a screenshot of a reefback leviathan at night being observed from an observatory room. the description said “You know, sometimes, your mind plays tricks on you. It can tell you you’re no good, that its all hopeless. But, I’ve discovered this. You are loved. And Important. You bring to this world things no one else can… So hold on. literally calmed me for the rest of my exploration in the reaper infested biome and i made it home and took a picture of the time capsule because it was the first ever one to make me smile.

Personally, the main reasons I love Subnautica are these: 1). Exploration: I LOVE seeing new places and diving deeper, finding thing I never noticed before; it fills me with such joy and excitement. 2). Lore: I love world building. I love seeing all the creatures, and plants, and ancient alien buildings that they've come up with. I love you learn more about this universe they've made. 3). Replayability: I've beaten Subnautica twice and I'm on my third playthrough of it, and I've beaten below zero once, and I'm on my second playthrough of that. And every time I play, I find things and discover information that I never caught before. 4). Water: I love water and what is under it so, so much. I love aquariums, I love fish, I love sea animals, I love the way water refracts light, I love everything about the ocean. 5). I don't get creeped out easily: what many people find spooky or creepy, I find interesting and exciting. I love the way ocean creatures look. I see big, glowy see-through creature, and I think it's pretty and want to know more about it. You bet I swam up to the big ghost leviathan, with all it's "scawy noises" and scanned it my first try. Only then, when it destroyed my seamoth, did I realize it was as dangerous as it was and that it was much more dangerous than the reaper leviathan. I kept my distance from it then, but I still think they're beautiful.

My favorite moment of the game was every time you get a new vehicle. Each one gives you a unique feeling. The seamoth with how early you can get it and how much easier it makes exploration, the prawn suit with its superior resource collection and offensive capabilities, and the cyclops with its imposing size and absolute utility when paired with the prawn suit. Another thing I remember very fondly is when I finally got the grapple arm. Terraria taught me well, and I was (and still am) a momentum machine. That first time using it was basically exactly what you’re warned about when you first make the suit lol.

I absolutely agree with what you said at the end. This game is so easy to watch other people play. My first experience completing the story was actually through my partner. I had initially been shown the game in early access by a good friend of mine, and had been playing it long before official release. When it did release, I tried to complete the story myself, but due to some pretty bad thalassophobia, I could never make it past the grand reef without noping out and going back to creative. So I introduced my partner to the game. Watching him experience it for the first time was almost like myself experiencing it for the first time again, and it made the experience so much better. He streamed it on discord for me so I could hear what he heard through my headset and I just sat comfy in my chair while watching him play spooky game's story for me. I would guide him when he got lost, and give him hints when he felt confused, and together we completed the story for the first time. Later, I did complete it myself on stream, because I had the viewers (including my partner) with me to encourage me to keep going so I was able to overcome my crippling anxiety and keep diving deeper. The prawn suit helped immensely. I love unknown worlds for their dedication, talent, and their ability to listen to the players and own up to failures, to turn said failures to successes. This will forever be my favorite game, and I hate water

My first memory was opening up that bottom hatch to climb out for the first time. Seeing that BEAUTIFUL rabbit ray swim by my feet had me itching to see the rest of the world. I followed that ray for a bit, taking pictures because it was so gorgeous. The reef was gorgeous. The soundtrack was gorgeous. Everything was gorgeous. Until Mr. Cuddles introduced himself. He was probably being nice, screaming out his salutations from across the way, and I think there was an invite to dinner at his place, but, to be honest, I can't tell you what he was trying to say because my own screams drowned out his own. I guess my accent was off, because the next thing I know, he's trying to kill me. Looking it up all these years later, I've discovered that my screams translated into something horrendously offensive and now all the Reapers know me as "that guy" and want to eat my face. Ah, memories.

It was so eerie to explore mile by mile, depth by depth, yet my curiosity of this underwater world was carrying me to new potentially dangerous places. I got so connected to main character that I felt pretty dreadful playing as when exploring every wreck knowing they was blown out of main ship Aurora. Very unique experience. Today is still my favorite game. Started modding it 2 years ago to diverse my new playthroughs.

I was part of the early access from the very beginning, when i saw the game for the first time played by jack, i knew i had to get it. I played every dev build obsessively, watched all the playtesting channels like mobius and so on, patroled across the map looking for new things that got added. Seeing new stuff get implemented, like seeing the sea dragon complete for the first time was magical. I also spend countless hours just driving trough the map in a sea moth, or making a base and just watching the creatures. This game is great.

hello! my favorite memory comes from pretty early on in my playthrough, I was in my seamoth, heading to the aurora to discover what the heck is there. anyway, I arrived. while trying to find the entrance to the aurora, I hear the loudest roar. I'm like, "what the hell is that noise" and I look around for some moments, unmoving until Mr.Cuddles approaches. Im like" oh shit crap monkey doo doo" and I get out of my seamoth right as the reaper grabs it, and I escape, looking backwards as he chews down on my beloved seamoth. may you rest in peace, hulk 😭😭😭😭

My best one was from barely even a week ago now when I finally got my hands on the game. I named the reaper Levaithan at the back of the Aurora "Buddy" and after not seeing him for the first 13 hours of my playthrough even after going back to the ship twice. I went looking for him to get the scan. The thrill of scanning things and seeing this huge shadow swim over me with the loud cry that followed soon after made me so happy to see him for the first time face to face. At that point I had made a Seamoth and PRAWN suit but I took neither. Seeing him face to face, despite getting hugged to oblivion twice was my happiest point so far. I'll admit the first time was due to wanting to get a good look at him. I try to go visit him from time to time with nothing more then my tools and Seaglide. I think seeing him "Dance" out of the water was one of the best points. All other leviathans are getting silly or soft names as I encounter them. Buddy is just my really clingy friend that hangs out on his own most the time. 😊

We love watching people play because, lets face it, WE want to experience it again for the first time. The dread you feel when just before you jumped in into the shallows and greeted with colorful biome that made you feel euphoric and safe. Then you start needing a few things beyond the immediate are around your lifepod. You start to explore nearby cave, corals and get blasted by crashfishes. After, you need to venture out a little bit further into the kelp forets. Here things get darker and scarier but, after sometime you would notice that this biome is really beautiful and rich with life...and so on.

Very good video, I did not know about a lot of the backstory behind the game as I only started playing it after its full release, so that was quite interesting. Subnautica was literally my dream game because in others, like Minecraft, I always wanted to explore and build stuff underwater so discovering a game entirely dedicated to that was just amazing. I currently have over 450 hours in it and several large bases (some of which you can find on my channel if you're interested), it still remains my favourite game to this day. Edit: I'd have to say my favourite memory is probably going down into the Blood Kelp Trench for the first time and suddenly hearing Lava Castle play (which is my favourite track in the game), such an ominous feeling. I unfortunately knew most of the game before I played it, but it was still pretty neat experiencing it for myself.

Wow this video was rly well made, amazing editing, smooth graphics, etc. I guessed you'd have almost 100K subs judging from the video quality. My favourite subnautica memory was probably when I fully kitted out my cyclops as a mobile base (furnished) and all. In that moment I felt so powerful, and so complete with the game, I loved it. Another fun memory was an encounter with Mr cuddles around the big gun island. I kept hearing his roar, and I kept pausing with fear. The moment I saw his silouette super far away, I turned tail and ran. Later when I came back, I was like "where is this man" and out of nowhere, he grabbed my seamoth, yanking it into a cave. I had to ditch it just to survive, it was crazy

I still like to listen to Subnautica ambiance when doing homework or writing. I bought the game a year before full release and had around 50hrs just playing for fun. My favorite part of that early access build was the tendency of creatures you damage to migrate to new areas. This happened to bring Mr. Cuddles into the shallows near my base where he decided to wreck havoc. Another time he decided to visit Lifepod 4 as I was checking out the PDA and tech. This was terrifying, having a Reaper stalk me and attack the lifepod trying to get inside. Reapers are now my favorite creature in the game and every new playthrough I make sure to feed them!

subnautica will always be special to me, it was the first game i actually played from start to finish the moment i got the opportunity to, i still play it a lot today 5 years after its full release. the thing that grabs my attention every time is the scope of the exploration side of the game, yeah you kind of get guided through the whole game with the logs but if you actually go and explore everything, the map is enormous, theres so much cool stuff to see that is in no way needed to progress the game but its there anyway to make the world feel more real.

My best memory is probably the first time I scanned a Reaper. I’d decided to try to scan the one by the Aurora hull breach and took my seaglide, scanner and some medkits out to try my luck. So I’m doing pretty well, alternating between getting some scans in and using the seaglide and sea floor to juke him and suddenly I glitch right through the floor so I’m looking up at this Reaper and it lunges at me and it smacks right into this invisible wall in front of me. Then it gives up the chase, I swim back up through the sea floor and finish scanning it before it starts targeting me again.

Subnautica is probably my favourite game, I'm not sure why but there is something cozy about it when you play. From the first dive into the unknown waters you experience wonder and excitement, each new little upgrade bringing you further out to discover and explore. Soon enough you start to find clues as to why you crashed on this planet, and just as soon the wonder turns to fear, fear from the things lurking just a stones throw away from your little outpost. But the best part is when you fight through that fear, and every new discovery, every new blueprint, every little piece to the puzzle feels like a victory, and you can't stop looking for more, to conquer this world in your own way, in defiance of the things that can and will end your little adventure if you're not careful. And after the initial fear subsides there is just excitement left, to see what's around the next corner. Beautiful flora, or deadly fauna? Maybe the withered remains of the ancient past? Who knows, all I do know is that I look forward to the next installment of this series to dive into. In the meantime, maybe I'll start a new play through of Subnautica.
