I agree with you about the FXDL....I am 6' 6" and my 1993 is very comfortable, albeit with adding forward controls and most recently 10" risers with drag bars mounted....I like to be able to adjust my bars wich you cannot do with T bars....and at 72 years old I wick it up to 100 mph every Spring (I live alongside a long straight rural highway} and scream into the wind "I ain;t dead yet!!!".....it has become a kind of ritual.
My T-shirt that I ride with says, "I refuse to Tip Toe though life only to arrive safely at death." It has the Grim Reaper on it... I hear too many people say, "Murder cycles" or "those things are dangerous." I tell them that so is sitting around getting fat...
Recent studies show, that riding just (1) hour per day is as beneficial as exercising (15) hours per week and making a concerted effort at limiting one's calorie intake and eating healthier. It is claimed that the benefits of riding increase exponentially--in other words, the more an individual rides their motorcycle, the healthier they will naturally become. Now, that is really saying something if you ask me.
Indeed those are T-bars and the long “stem” is the riser. The mid mount floor boards are what keep tall dudes away. I had to take them off my fat boy and set it up with forward controls (only 6’1 but what a comfort difference and change in handling ). Although it has no shocks exposed (softail) people confuse it for a custom Dyna all the time. Both are great bikes by the way.
Riding a motorcycle is a sport and some people don’t have the aptitude for it. If you have the aptitude, it’s still stupid to do something dangerous you don’t love and don’t have to do. But if you have the ability and love to ride, you should. It’s odd how people process danger. Riding a horse is more dangerous than riding a motorcycle, yet think of the young girls whose parents let them ride horses.
I have them exact grips on my street glide! Love them! I've had 3 harleys with the 96 motor they are very powerful they will keep up with the 103 just fine the difference is so little you will hardley notice it my buddies 103 is a little faster than me but just barely I'm right at his rear wheel when we race
Fear is a liar! I love everything about this video from beginning to end! You should do videos were you just talk like this outside of a test ride. Theirs a lot of wisdom in this video and you should share it more.
I've always had those bars referred to as drag apes, my favorite grips are the smooth OEM harley grips they've used forever, not sure if still use those ones but the ones from 70s and 80s anyway.
Love your videos, your message on this one is very appropriate for these fearful times of COVID. Love your videos on the dyna should be purchasing an 06 lowrider from my local Harley dealer. All the problematic issues that they have been addressed.
Do more research. The 06 Dyna has a pressed together crank that is weakness at the heart of the motor. You might decide that an 02 88 is a stronger motor after the cam chain tensioner has been replaced with a cam gear drive. For sure the problematic issues on the twin cam have not been totally addressed on the 06, there are just different problems. But I do love the twin cam over the Milwaukee8. I'm looking for a wrecked 103 bike to put the motor on my 02 Low Rider.
for the dummy lights they have a mount so you do not have to zip tie haha but it works!! also i wanted to say thanks for putting PA on the map for moto love the cannel i now live in ca and ride a club style dyna i love seeing the old streets i use to ride miss amish country!! jeremy out
I'm sure you sold this bike already but for other guys checking the comments to see how to mount that light. Buy a sporster custom top clamp. It has the mount built in an then you can use any standard riser with it. Also joker motorsports has a solution but it requires a little modding. Keep up the vids! 👍🤘
Hey is it possible to start taking side pics of you on the motorcycles for us tall guys to get an guesstimate of how it may fit us?🤔 I basically only watch your reviews for motorcycles because you're a tall and cool guy. 😂
Im 6'2" and have been considering the lowrider. I was hoping to see what you looked liked while sitting, riding. Because I have a couple bikes that just look too small for me...
I’m 6 ft 2 inches, 200 lbs, it fits me like a glove! my 1 st 1 was a 1979 Low Rider for $5,200 out the door! i’m buying the 2021 Low Rider S for $ 18,500 out the door! Eventually will put the stage 4 kit on! I took mine cross country solo twice in the 80s! All I can say to you my friend I’ll never go back to my big bagger! Take a test Ride & bring the cash or checkbook! i’m far from rich but I’m paying cash! i moved from Hawaii for 20 years, then Thailand 10 & been in Mexico in Ensenada for 4 years! Flying in to buy it & riding it home! Good luck & Be Safe!!!
When I was a teenager in the early ‘70s, I hitchhiked everywhere probably a couple thousand miles and this was before I was 17. When I got my first bike, I rode everywhere and in any weather. I’d ride all day and sleep behind gas stations in a sleeping bag. Being young was an adventure. I truly believe that fear has made the world more dangerous. I’m heartbroken that young people today cannot have the adventures that I did. If they tried, they’d get arrested. You don’t fix problems by avoiding or outlawing risk.
OK, so you said NO to boards on that Dyna & that pegs allow you to 'really lean'. I'm riding a 35th anniversary 2006 H.D. Dyna that has mini boards & I can really lean hard with no problem. Just thought I'd share. My comment 9/2021. I am enjoying your vids.
Slammed Dyna low with modded 88, drag bars, and forward controls. This is the perfect setup for me and the ladies, I am short. I pulled my dashboard indicator cluster.
Tall guys only like it with forward controls on it. I can only speak for myself obviously, but an educated guess (being 6'1") and first hand experience tells me the mid controls are too cramped up for comfort.
1.everything is dangerous... people are living a delusion if they they think they are always safe. I work construction as an industrial electrician I could die from 500 different things an hour lol... so the bike let’s me unwind and live with a smile.
You had me at this soft culture sucks...subscribe earned!! I'm 6'5 and looking for my 1st Harley. Haven't rode in 15 years since I had a Katana...any other suggestions? Looking to spend about 10 grand.
2021 Low Rider S, have owned 4, plus a big bagger! i just ordered the new Low Rider! Bought my 1 st 1 in 1979, cross country twice no problem & great memories! Good luck, I’m 6 ft 2, 200lbs !!!
What the hell is wrong with you? "regain our lost cowboy streak"? I'm thinking you've been watching too many John Wayne movies or maybe your belt buckle is too big.
Anyone know what bars those actually are and what rise? I want them desperately. Btw, just discovered Bikes n Beards and I’m a huge fan. Going to purchase some of their gear as well!
I see what you did, lol. You almost told people the bad about the Dyna and why they quit making it but had to switch gears there and get off that topic quickly. It was a good bike if you just didn't push it beyond cruiser duty.
Men are called to be dangerous, but good. Just as our creator is...He is definitely dangerous, but most indeed good. Nice ride, I really love these dynas and considering getting a low rider or a super glide.
I'm 5'5 with an inseam of 34 would this be sensible to daily? I fit sportsters perfect and sat on alot of bikes at the dealer but I haven't found a dyna to try yet
Beautiful bike 👍🙂 I just love the look, style and sound of harleys, I would like to get one my self, but I think maybe, I am to big for this type of bike?? 🙈 I am about 1.89 meters high, whit no shoes on. I ride a Yamaha mt 07 2019 street bike now, and it's ok, but almost to small for me. Not in power! It runs so good 🙂 It's a real great bike! Whit a V2 700cc engine, whit a great performance and sound, whit aftermarket pipes on. Just maybe I am switching to a harley, if I can find one that fits my size, otherwise I stick whit yamaha or honda, they are great bikes for money 🙈😁
You could get a dyna! You'll just need one with forward controls and you may have to add 3 or 6 inch peg extensions, either way not a big deal. Come join the harley family!
Relatively new to riding but I’m definitely trying to get into the dyna world. Is a 2013 switchback worth getting/modifying? Or should I wait it out and pay more for a Low S?
If you're new to riding buy an older Dyna and save some money while you learn to ride. You can buy a good 02 for 4500 most places and then, when you drop the thing you haven't damaged an expensive bike and you know al lot more than you do now.
Is there a harley that a short person(me 5'3 or '4) can ride in relative comfort,Aside from the the street series. Ps: when i meant relative comfort i meant in reach, im used to not being to flat foot.
Casual Man No reason you can’t ride a Dyna and have your feet flat on the ground if your 5’4 and over. Also you can buy a contour seat to lower you another inch or two. Also you can buy a Softail slim that is super low. But don’t be afraid to hop on any Dyna model if you choose, depending on your particular inseam you should be fine!
I just wish the stereotypical ideal of females weren't of just living safe .... cause I love the independence of my own and the danger and thrill I get to my self.
