I agree; I played a Taylor GS mini in a musicstore some time ago and was blown away by the sound. Crisp clear high and middle tones. You wouldn't expect that from a guitar this size. To me, it's the Martin of travel guitars.👍
Yeah it still amazes me to this day how they managed to construct an instrument with such a remarkable sound at an affordable price. It’s still expensive but manageable I reckon. Thanks for watching 🤘🏼
Such an awesome guitar. I finally bought one after playing it at my local shop. Wonderful sound, feel, size, I honestly don't think I could find anything bad about it. It's truly a remarkable guitar at a great price point.
my dad blessed me with the same gs mini for christmas today, and this guitar is freaking awesome. the size is spectacular, im on the smaller side and it feels like it was sized just for me.. and the sound its superb. you can hear all the highs and the lows so evenly, it really is that more entertaining to play and listen to. this guitar is the first "nice" acoustic ive owned and nothing ive had before can compare
Congrats! I wish I had gotten this guitar a lot earlier. You’re absolutely right, the sound is perfect and there’s nothing quite like it. Enjoy your new guitar and thanks for watching the video
I agree with the Mahogany model. While the Koa and Rosewood models have flashier looks, the Mahogany hits the spot for the intended purpose of the GS Mini. A grab and go campfire, party, couch guitar that cuts just right. Try one!
Nice review man. I just got one of these as a backup and also to teach my kids how to play guitar--the 3/4 size is perfect for smaller hands. But honestly, I love playing it so much myself! Probably the easiest guitar to play out of the 100 or so I've played over 30 years. I did get the "Mini-e" version so it can be plugged in at church--it sounds even better plugged in!
I’ve had my mahogany for over 10 years now. It’s my most played guitar. It sounds good and I can plug it in, but it’s not so expensive that I can’t play it around kids and worry about it. It’s been all over the country with me because it’s so easy to travel with. Thanks for the video.
I can't wait to get one of these. I'm with you that the mahogany is the one. It's plenty bright. I haven't had an acoustic guitar in a very long time so I appreciate your thoughts. I wish they put just one of their cool new picks in the little packet. I guess it's a pretty nice gig bag too. You did a good job with this review.
Went to guitar center yesterday with the intent of buying a fender acoustic. Tried the fender was super disappointed so started looking around. No one was there so I was able to try every brand. This Taylor mini was the most amazing sounding guitar I've ever played.
Yes I’ve tried fender acoustic guitars before and they have been very disappointing. Glad you picked this. You’re absolutely right, it sounds amazing. Thanks for watching the video
Hey! Great review! I’m very tempted, I’ve only been playing for a year or so but really want a guitar that’s a step up and that’s my own so this looks perfect. Quick question - what’s the action like? I’m currently playing on one that’s quite high so looking for something a little lower, does this suit? If not I may have to get it set up. Thanks!
Hey thanks for watching. The action on mine is but high and you cannot have it adjusted. There’s no truss rod. It also depends if you are planning on just playing chords or lead as well. If it’s just the chords then it won’t matter too much. But if you’re planning on gigging and doing lead work then I would recommend a bigger size guitar. The GS Mini has an excellent sound but it’s a small size guitar which I like to just play on the couch or while out and about traveling. The small bodied guitars also works better using a medium gauge strings. This gs comes with medium gauge set and it sounds great with it but be mindful the strings are thicker. The sound as I say it in my video is absolutely amazing. And so is the quality. It sounds better than the slightly expensive Taylor 100 and 200 series and some 300 series guitars. But you can’t adjust the action on this because there is no truss rod. Hope this helps your question.
Great review and agree with your comments. I am lucky enough to have both the Koa and Mahogany versions and prefer the mahogany for sound but the Koa looks awesome. Both great guitars
Hi, thanks a lot. The sound of the gs mini is amazing. And I love the mahogany version for the all round sound. I play this guitar everyday. Thanks for watching.
@@bmas020 I’m a week or more into this guitar Holy crap Its like a mini premium guitar it shows me why some acoustics are 1-3k Love the natural pores I can feel on the neck I feel like I have a quality violin or something A true bang for the buck too Im 100 percent copping the gs mini bass too idc that the strings are $40 I literally say “wow” everytime i strum this mf
What are your comparison thoughts with the martin 000-jr10. I have both of them. I love them both but the martin is an all wood and same size. I love the look of the gs mini, but that martin all wood in my my opinion has the edge.
I played all the different woods available and had to go with the Koa plus. It’s got a great mid range sound and just well balanced all around. The ES-2 system sounds amazing on an acoustic amp and the color is gorgeous.
Nah I think the finish would come off. I actually dig the pickguard but can understand that you don’t. Either way it’s a great guitar and thanks for watching
No, I didn’t change the strings. And I think Elixir medium gauge strings are compatible with the small size guitar. For some reason it works better. You can try the light gauge set and see how you go.
Yes you’re right it’s laminated. I was just assuming people will know and also I didn’t wanted to go to much in detail re the specific but rather the practical use of it. Thanks for watching
You won’t regret buying GS mini, I play it every single day, I love it. I was worried the small size won’t work for me but it didn’t take me too long to get used to it. I wish I would have bought GS mini earlier. Sorry about your GTE, many years ago I sold my Gibson Flying V and regret it to this day
I have a Taylor Gs mini Koa, I absolutely love it, from the bottom of my heart!! They are great guitars, marvelous sound, wood grains and playability. I love Mahogany Gs mini so much as well. Recently I've put a Koa wood truss rod cover with moon phases, simply stunning and unique! This guitar is my whole world, I always carry it with me everywhere! Greetings from Rome =)
Congrats on the purchase you’ll love Hog. Just amazing sound. I’ve heard great things around Martin DJr. I’ll have to try it out one day. Thanks for watching
Hey thanks man really appreciate it. Yes the channel is small but I’m enjoying to be part of the community. I hope and wish that you can get your Taylor gs mini soon one day 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Superb guitar & video! I bought the GS min Koa Plus just over a week ago and love it, the Mahogany also sounded superb. Great value, and great to play casually outside or on the couch and It sounds even better plugged in! STUNNING...
Yes I did play Koa in the store and it was as good as mahogany but I picked the later for the wood color. I now play my guitar everyday since it’s easy to pick up and sounds beautiful. I have yet to try the pick up system but great to hear that your sounds great. Thanks for watching
I used to own a GS Mini (sold it about 5 days ago). I didn't find the sound to be my cup of tea. Plus it was impossible for me to find a position where I could rest my right arm comfortable on the body and I'm only 5'11. Oh well. I settled for a Seagull S6 instead and I'm loving how much brighter/comfier it is to play.
