Ted should have brought his glow in the dark pastra plush so he could see in the cave better

I legit had NO idea that Ted the Caver was THE FIRST creepypasta EVER made. I guess you learn something new everyday!

I don't know where their filming location is, but the "ted cave" is a real cave that really exists (minus the paranormal stuff) so it would be cool to think they actually went back there.

The fact the dog lived is the best part of this. But seriously, I found this series so interesting with how natural the actors' interactions felt and how "authentic" the events seemed. It allows the viewer to root for them, and also admonish them when their ambition becomes extremely dangerous, all the more. Plus, the severely claustrophobic environments made everything a thousand times more intense and anxiety-ridden.

What truly makes me shiver in 30:45 is the specific sound it makes, it's not a growl, it's not a slither neither is it the pitter patter of a thousend legs. It's wet. human. footsteps. Whatever is down there is completely bipedal, and probably inteligent.

I really wanna see more absurdly authentic, high-quality adaptations of Creepypastas like this. In particular, I think something like a found footage PENPAL adaptation from someone who really understands and respects the story and its themes would be killer.

I used to get this story mixed up with the God's Mouth one, so when i hear "Ted the Caver" i think oh yeah the guy who got eaten by a cave. Which isnt entirely incorrect

There is something to note on Joe’s character. In the original story, he does return. After Ted experiences paranoia to the degree he must keep the lights on in his home, he feels a compulsion to go to a place overlooking the city, coming to meet Joe once again. The two talk & it’s revealed Joe experiences similar feelings of paranoia to Ted. The two ultimately make the choice to back & find answers. It implies that whatever they saw or perhaps crossing the threshold into Floyd’s Tomb is what gives them these supernatural experiences of paranoia.

Ngl, this is my favorite creepypasta. No overly dramatic reveal, nothing with explicit gore, and not much actually in the story. This is still scary because of what it doesn’t add, which I appreciate immensely👍

This series to me proves how important sound design is in horror. Everything in that cave sounded wet and miserable, and the echo convayed to the watcher how massive this cave was. And THAT SCREAM, i love how it so subtly blends in with the drill, so maybe, maybe you can just rationalise that its just your mind playing a trick on you. Great vid as allways dude 👍

Ted the Caver is maybe the most important piece of internet jorror ever made, everything that came after was inspired by it or something else that was inspired by Ted the Caver

9:23 I agree with this segment. This is one of the reasons why Blair witch project was a terrifying film the year it was created.

The thing newer horror writers tend to forget is that people don't *assume* they're in a horror story. Jumping to paranormal conclusions is unhealthy and unreasonable for real people to do. We judge the people who look at disease and call it demonic influence because we understand how illness works, and demons aren't real. The dramatic irony and suspense fuel the horror as the reader watches the characters waltz into danger, knowing full well they would probably do the same thing (or know people who would do the same thing.)

The drilling and screaming from 13:00 - 13:14 gives me the vibe of "medival brain surgery (aka no anesthesia) with a modern power tool"

What helps so much in the original Ted the caver story is that it too was a real cave that he went to! It's really cool to have someone also go in a cave to recreate the events!

part of why this works so well is _because_ you never see any monsters or the source of the anomalies. is it something like the cave monsters from The Descent? or is it something supernatural and ethereal like the God's Mouth Creepypasta? its awesome

4:48 I really appreciate this because I love horror stories and I'm interested in a lot of horror media but aside from reading creepypastas or listening to audiobook-style readings of them, I have a hard time watching through horror videos/movies/games and prefer watching videos of other people explaining them (like yours) and oftentimes feel really guilty for that, so it's nice to have some reassurance about it

Wow, for the first ever creepypasta, it's legitimately scary. I knew about Ted the Caver long before this video but never read about it. Now that I finally know, I'm impressed with both the story and the found footage adaptation.

I was listening to this while I was working on a little animation thing and I only noticed at the end that I was LITERALLY SHAKING. I actually share the same opinion on cave settings, but my fear of them mostly stems from xenophobia (fear of the unknown) and claustrophobia (fear of small spaces/suffocation). Honestly similar to DDLC pacing wise. Starts extremely slow with some small warning signs but once the horror starts it picks up really fast.

i really enjoy that this series is filmed in a real cave because i was super disappointed to find out other horror series like kane pixel's backrooms were not filmed on location

Pastra mentioned that it was eerily impressive that they got the exact same breed of dog for B's dog, but I just thought it was impressive at how they were able to make the dog act like it genuinely was having its instincts go off the charts. I imagine they got some kind of acting dog or something, but even then it's just so impressive the amount of work and authenticity they put into this.

Honestly, I really like how the 'found footage' doesn't replace, but adds to the original. It almost feels like it's naturally a part of it, allowing the creepy pasta to still give you extra details that the found footage doesn't give. It's also good that it doesn't, because it wouldn't feel natural for him to voice any of those thoughts I think.

Crawling through caves always scared me so much, just the thought of crawling through such tight spaces below the ground, I just never understood how people liked it. Seeing Joe so utterly traumatized by whatever it is in the cave freaked me out and I am genuinely excited for the last part. Great video!

Most creepypasta stories never seemed really scary to me, but Ted The Caver is quite terrifying. Didn't know about the adaptation! Amazing video.

The fear of the unknown, playing off of reactions, the looming dread...all of these come together to create the terror that is within this series. Even with my big boy pants on, I scroll down into the comments with out overbearing the fear creates.

I'm not claustrophobic or scared of the dark, but I'm always gonna treat a cave with something in between respect, fear, and caution. Cause a cave isn't made to be explored, a cave isn't made to sustain life, a cave isn't meant to be fair, and a cave certainly isn't going to make itself easy for you to traverse. You can fall, break a limb, be trapped, be stuck in a flood, get lost, cut yourself on a sharp edge, you name it. I ain't claustrophobic or scared of the dark, but caves make me understand why other people are.

Dear god am I so shocked when I see a creepypasta that is older than me. It's surreal to have been so chronically online and into horror so much and not see THE first creepypasta ever made. I genuinely can't tell if I ever read the original story. My creepypasta phase peaked in 2011/2012, and I pretty much just clicked around on creepypasta sites; the title sounds familiar, but at the same time, I can't say with certainty I know the story described here. This is going to bug me forever. But I'm glad a written work got a faithful TV-screen adaptation for once, that's always a win!

Something I remember hearing about Ted the caver is something along the lines of the site being set up, so his *REAL* friends and family could know about whats going on with him, and I am still imaging how, if that was true, horrified they would be after reading the blog posts. and just watching this adaptation, I could only think how worse it would be to instead witness this rather then the blogs, especially with the scream heard rather then spoke.

Its been a while since i got this scared. I dont know how but this series with you just explaining it and showing a few clips scared me more than anything else ever did. Im definetly planning on watching it now and im excited for the future of it. What changes will happen, if there are any if the story gets continued over the original etc. This just is what im looking for in horror. I thnk jumpscares are often more than cheap horror but managing to do something this scary without a single one is something i never thought was possible. Again this is me just writing after watching the video without watching the actual series.
