In this episode Trent examines the faulty claims of “prosperity preachers” like Kenneth Copeland who promise to wealth to Christians who tithe (to their ministries).
The opening statement of this video, describing certain Christians, consists of so much misinformation that it borders on a lie. What the video maker describes as the "properity gospel" and pentecostalism was preached in modern times to dirt poor Americans in the early 20th century. People lived in shanties without toilets, running water, electricity, fans, or decent clothes. Since the awaking by Christians to what the Bible actually says about many topics, including faith, health, finances, prayer, salvation, sin, and new life in Christ, Jesus fanatics have grasped hold of many promises from God's Word, all of which have solid foundations in scripture. After the war, God poured out blessings on such Christians and the entire United States as sunshine on everyone without discrimination because Christians are the light of the world for as long as they are here because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross by the shedding of his righteous blood. If you are so adamant God wants you to live like my grandmother and great-grandmother in an earthen dugout with a thatch roof, you are free to do so. Since you are not, notice the Bible also promises a fountain of peace and joy that I would bet you have never experienced or even tasted. You cannot deny the Bible promises such heavenly joy nor your access to the Sabbath rest as the promise in Isaiah and throughout the Bible. Have you not read the insistence in Hebrews to enter such heavenly rest to cease from your own evil efforts. For one, like the people of Capernia, you deny the physical results of salvation. For two, you even deny the spiritual blessings of joy and peace promised. Instead you listen to a watered-down gospel that teaches that if you are lucky to encounter poor health in life that through such God will punish your for your past sins so you can enter heaven based on your own self righteousness. You are believing a lie and are likely to succumb to the great falling away from Jesus that is already occurring.
I heard a prosperity preacher say, “if you don’t humble yourself you can’t receive from God.” Yea…lemme humble myself just so God can give me more than salvation that I didn’t and couldn’t earn in the first place
How be it the most high dwellest not in temples made with hands. Act 7:48. Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, but into heaven itself and the prescence of God. Heb 9:24.
How ironic is it that the Protestant reformation began with Martin Luther leaving the Church because of the buying and selling of indulgences, and ends up with preachers saying to give them money to get graces from God. If Luther knew this would be the outcome, I’m sure he wouldn’t have left the Church
The greatest irony of Protestantism is that for all of the accusations of Catholics that we're a "works-based faith," it's Protestantism by and large that produced things like the Protestant work ethic (exemplified in the US by "pull himself up by his own bootstraps") and Prosperity Gospel, where even though a Christian is saved by faith alone, one still feels compelled to do work to the extreme in order to show forth the (material) fruits of his salvation. Absolutely incredible that people somehow reconcile both sola gratia and sola fides with this
I came to catholicism after 30 years of anti-catholicism. One of the things that I realized was that sure, all I NEED to do is believe that our Lord Jesus Christ died for iur sins and rose again, but then again, all I NEED to do to be a husband is to come home from work every day and not cheat on my wife. But wouldn't my wife be a pot happier if I bought her flowers sometimes, did the laundry sometimes and did other things to ease her burdens or make her feel like she means something to me? Why not apply that to my faith and go the extra mile for God?
@@dhenderson1810 No. Nowhere did I ever mention the word "sin." I'm pointing out the irony that Protestantism doesn't include sanctification (e.g., good deeds) in its soteriology, yet those cultures that have been historically Protestant (especially the Germans) work themselves to death precisely because the only certainty in their salvation is "by their fruits." That attitude would make way more sense in Catholic soteriology, which gets characterized as a "faith and works-based salvation." Yet, those countries that are predominantly Catholic (e.g., Italy, Spain, Portugal, Latin America) are all cultures that include a siesta in the middle of the day.
What was so creepy about it is you can tell even that is acting. You can see the gears turning, he thinks ‘uhm something about demons, I’d better act outraged or something’
Truth of the matter is Copeland did say that, I watched the video where Copeland accused those of us who fly in those "long tubes" as demons. Although Copeland has a hard time telling the truth but he did in that say that in the video. If you haven't seen the video, look it up, it's video of Copeland and Jesse Duplantis attempting to convince themselves and there listeners why they need a multi-million dollar biz jet and there partners have to pay for it.
I grew up in Houston, a city known for a very famous Health and Wealth preacher, Joel Osteen. He's not known for giving back. There is also a very well known Catholic businessman, Jim McIngvale, who is known for his extra-ordinary generosity! It's hard not to compare the two. He gives to so many charities and helps LOTS of people every time there is a flood or terrible storm. The people of Houston love and respect him because he gives so much and expects nothing in return.
He is such a nice soul! Thought it was a beautiful gesture when the Astros gave him a 2017 World Series ring for his support and charity during Hurricane Harvey and other times 😁 Even Astros haters can’t talk down or bad about the man.
I saw Olseen’s true colors when a hurricane hit Houston and the city asked to use Olsteen’s church for shelter for victims of the hurricane and Joel said they would leave his beautiful church all messy and ruined ,so no. 😳 I thought he was a man of God but sadly no.
Good point. the money grabbers are ever so eager to call cash flow a blessing, I like to refer to it as more of and allowance. God is allowing them to rake in the cash because that's all they get, these preachers want a multi-million-dollar biz jet, Fine you can have it, But won't have their part in the Kingdom.
Thank you brother. My just deceased mother in law worked double shifts as a nurse her whole life. Instead of paying her bills, she gave all to these prosperity vultures. She lost her house and everything. Died broke 😢

Embarrassingly and shamefully I was up to my neck in the prosperity gospel.for forty years. I Left the Catholic Church in my early 20’s following my wife, not Catholic, into the teachings of Kenneth Copeland. I concur with every thing mentioned in this video, I lived it and experienced the prosperity gospel to my financial detriment. For forty years I was mesmerized by the Kenneth Copeland prosperity message believing that someday my shipload of money would come in. After forty years of waiting for my ship it was common sense that finally arrived and I left that financial disaster. I began following in the prosperity gospel in my early 20’s and now in my 70’s my financial state is a shambles. I could go on about my experiences and observations of this diabolical teaching maybe some other time for that. I would really like to see the Catholic Church have a more out spoken teaching exposing this twisted gospel teaching. I have returned to the ONLY Church Jesus founded, 8 years now, and take every advantage I come across to warn people of this twisted gospel the prosperity message. Pray for me, Jesus, I Trust In You. Keep this message going Trent!
I think y’all are missing the point of financial prosperity message. You don’t give to get. Although the Bible says to give and it shall be given. But the question you need to ask yourself is: What is your motive? Are you listening to God or man where to give? Are you still walking in love with man or fighting? Are you offended by someone? Are you keeping the laws of God? Are you in sin? Btw: do you study the Bible or only go to church on Sunday? WAKE UP! God needs our money to further His kingdom. People need to hear the gospel. That takes money and as long as you’re obedient THEN the blessings will come. That simple!! Deuteronomy 28. And if you were all in at one time your blessings are coming. His word doesn’t become void. Use it for the right reason!!!! Do you even know these men of God? All you see is the blessings and think they are USING YOUR MONEY. No!! You really need to do your homework!!! DONT ALLOW PEOPLE TO TELL YOU WHAT TO BELIEVE!!!!!! DO THE RESEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! These are just the some of the faith blockers of blessings. I can tell you is that I’ve been there in the blessings when I think less of myself and give with a giving heart God automatically blesses. I’ve experienced the goodness of God! So unless you obey God in his commands you WILL BE BLESSED. THAT SIMPLE! I know one thing! No one can ever tell me that God wants me to just get by. He wants to bless us!!!! He gives us the power to get wealth!!! You need to press into HIS WAY!! We need to mature in the things of God!!!! And understand God before judging ministers and others!!!
@@sandras5317 . I beg to differ on the giving to get from the prosperity gospel approach. Any one of these fake gospel preacher either openly declare that the giver will receive financial return, blessing or certainly imply that a financial blessing. I see your point , however, the Kenneth Copeland’s, Jesse Duplantis, and all the rest in that circle are personally profiting from their preaching the process gospel. I don’t really care how wealthy theses so called preachers are it’s their method of gaining their wealth. Pat Robertson is an example of this form of gospel gain. Pat Robertson built CBN on the $10-$20 donations and ended up selling CBN to the Family Network for millions. So where is the return to all those who donated.? I have no problem giving to support any honest ministry but I certainly don’t give to the ones that buyout another multi-million dollar bizjet. God does certainly bless and He has and continues to so. The fake prosperity preachers either openly admit that blessing only comes from giving TO THEIR ministry or implies such. Anyway, I could go on, but I stand by my statements about the fake prosperity gospel.
@@BoksCar29 how can you say Kenneth and Jesse and the rest of the prosperity ministry are fake?? Do you know what Kenneth has done for the gospel??? How many ministries he has given??? I just don’t like when everyone is quick to judge them. Kenneth has been around for a looong time. God would not allow him to lie. How many ministeries have fallen by bad money management. Sorry but these men are men of God. They walk in integrity.
@@sandras5317 , How can I say that Copeland and Duplantis are fake preachers? Well they are preachers but not preachers of the saving Grace Godpel of Jesus Christ. It’s not so much what Copeland has done for the gospel it’s more like what Copeland has done TO the gospel. Copeland only gives to 5013C ministries for tax right off. As far as being quick to judge Copeland and his circle of preachers I came to the conclusion of the prosperity gospel and those preachers after forty years of it, no exactly a “quick to judge “. The biggest problem with the prosperity gospel preachers is that they talk way to much which if a person REALLY pays attention you will hear some very bazar stuff.. my decision to leave the likes of Copeland, Duplantis and that circle of preachers was because I actually listened to what they said. I have heard Jesse Duplantis make some factually Incorrect statements to the point I wrote Jesse a letter to retract his statements. Of course I didn’t get a response because it would probably be to beneath Jesse to respond. God may not desire that any of these preachers to lie but these preachers do have a Fred will.. Theses preachers are only men if God because they say they are. Sandra, I was a lot like you defending these preachers but what I heard and experienced over the forty years became more than I could take and I left. In part the prostate gospel and it’s preachers brought me back the One And Only Church Jesus Founded that being the Catholic Church, how refreshing that return has been. The wandering around in the wasteland of the prosperity gospel depleted me so much that the fullness of truth found only in the Catholic Church rescued me.
The "prosperity gospel" is not a gospel at all. Just look at what it is aiming. It is about the human self and it is not about Jesus Christ and his Kingdom. It is the "gospel of greed".
I gave Joel Osteen a chance before returning to Catholicism. None of the things he promised came true, and it actually messed with me. I became downtrodden because I started to believe that I was doing something wrong to upset God. These prosperity preachers are legitimately dangerous and I pray for everyone who is struggling with their faith because of their influence.
'As he taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”' ~ Mark 12: 38-40
@John R.T.B. John, I see you are describing the Pharisees from the time of Jesus. If you were inferring "Catholic", you are just grasping at straws. Prejudice blinds your capacity to reason. Catholic Priests or Bishops, outside the celebration of the liturgy, use the typical black clerical clothing. A little study of Catholic beliefs and practices may inform you better. God bless.
@@joecastillo8798 No. I'm Catholic, and it's not the way people dress or pray, but Jesus condemns people who use religious attributes to promote themselves in order to dupe people or take advantage of others. But it's true even in the Church there are those who take advantage of their positions to advance their own needs, as exposed in recent cases of Church corruption. God bless you too.

My mother was completely brainwashed by prosperity gospel ‘preachers.’ She spent 30 years of her life giving more money than she could afford to a wide range of evangelical churches and so called charitable organizations. When we were facing homelessness, the loss of utilities, struggling to buy food, she would cry and wonder why she had tithed, but we were struggling to survive. When a member of our family, or she became ill or fell into sinful behavior/beliefs, she would cry and say it was because she did not pray properly. The last 15 or so years we lived in Houston, she attended Joel Osteen’s ‘church.’ I’m sure many who read this are familiar with his key phrase, “You have not, because you ask not.”
I became Catholic at 50 years old but up until then I live my life according to Prosperity gospel. It almost reminds me of a spiritual cast system because if something bad happens, it’s because you didn’t have enough faith or plant a large enough seed. Therefore If you’re sick, or poor it’s your fault. So glad I’m Catholic now!
@@B.A.Pilgrim if that was true he would not have converted to Catholicism since it does not promise anything material. He just sought and found the truth.
I too traveled through the waste land of the prosperity message. How many times have I heard “you don’t have enough faith” or your not “living by faith”? Whenever prayer was asked for financial troubles.
I pray that those trapped in those churches may open their eyes, that they're being lead not by Christ, but rather by wolves in sheep's clothing. Thank you for another great episode Trent! Is it just me or did the camera quality get better?
There is so much boloney in many churches. False doctrine of many types. Always judge doctrine by the teaching of Jesus Christ. We are to help others because it's right and Jesus told us we are doing for Him as we do for those in need.
I've never been a believer, but I got into one of those crazy churches for a short time. One day the preacher asked me if I was tithing, and I said I wasn't. He told me I was robbing God. I told him when God gives me his bank account number, I'll start making direct deposits. That was it for me--I was out.
Finally a succinct video about this. Their “churches” are predatory. I’m Roman Catholic but my girlfriend is Assemblies of God/Pentecostal and this is what I’ve notice about their services; 1. They begin with catchy music, lights, and high energy. 2. The “pastor” comes on the stage in a suit/sport coat/etc. and gives a very surface level mini presentation about several passages in the Bible and what Christ can do for them. Key point. 3. Every single service (without fail) tithing and “giving God that first 10%” comes up. It’s then displayed in their screen with several different ways of how they can give. 4. It’s bookended with their “give your life to Jesus” prayer and immediately bandaided over with another catchy song.
"3/25/11 From The Lord, Our God and Savior The Word of The Lord Spoken to Timothy For The Lord’s Little Flock, and For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear Thus says The Lord: Blessed is that servant of Mine who seeks out the poor, whose heart is eager to help the needy, for they know My ways and seek to please Me. Blessed also is My servant who gives out of the abundance they have received, for they walk in My ways. Yet most blessed is My servant who gives from their lack, for they do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God; indeed, they have understood. Yet woe to those who ignore the poor and draw back their hand from the needy, while they sit at ease in their abundance. For destitution is coming, and shall be born out of great desolation, in the day I take away their abundance and leave their houses desolate. Woe also to those who say they are My servants, yet refuse to help those in need, for only tears and sorrow await them. And woe to those who fail to give even the smallest amount, claiming they are in lack, for they have no trust, having learned nothing from the poor widow.[1] Little flock, have you learned nothing from My Word? Have you so quickly forgotten My Letters, in where I have taught you the way in which you should walk? Indeed, who you choose defines what you do, as I have already told you.[2] And who are the poor and the needy? How have you treated them, while entreating Me? Do not lie to yourselves, beloved ones. Every one of you who sit at this table want for nothing. Shall you mince words over a dollar, while others sit upon the ground seeking to draw water from a pit? Shall you covet five dollars or even ten as you drive about in your automobiles, while your brothers and sisters abroad willingly walk miles to preach My Word, with joy, even to their dying breath? And still some of you sit at ease in your padded chairs, punching the keys, saying within yourselves, “I am delivered.” You are not delivered! From the power of sin, yes, My children, I have delivered you, yet some of you remain married to this world. And those who remain married to another, even to themselves, can by no means be joined unto Me, lest adultery be brought into the house of The Lord. Beloved ones, you are My treasure. Yet some of you count yourselves as first, having loved another more than Me; therefore you must be last. For I search the hearts and minds. And that discipline reserved for the churches of men, is it not also for you, even to a greater degree? Or have you forgotten this Scripture: For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more? Therefore choose, make your decision... It is time... Says The Lord." www.thevolumesoftruth.com/Reasonable_Service
They say the eyes are a window to the soul. Copeland gives me.the creeps. Also there is an interview with him and Jesse Duplantis where they talk about their need for private jets and Copeland actually comes out and says that he needs a jet because the travelling public are demonic.

I grew up in the Pentecostal church, so I know these types of preachers well. The church my family attended frequently had visiting evangelists, who preached at our church for weeks at a time, several nights a week. Of course, an offering was always taken during each service. I always remember how these evangelists always claimed they were so poor, they didn't have two nickels to rub together, but they always seemed to be driving the latest model Cadillac. By contrast, my family really DIDN'T have two nickels to rub together, yet we were supposed to support these evangelists (and the church) with our tithes, offerings AND regular "love offerings" on top of that. Even as a small child, I questioned why my family was expected to give to preachers who drove Cadillacs, while we were so poor, we had to take the bus to get to church and were often on food stamps and at risk of having our utilities turned off. This greed, along with the ongoing hypocrisy and racism I saw in organized religion, made me decide to walk away from organized religion in my mid-'20's. It really is predatory. But, one of the reasons it's so successful in organized religion, particularly the Pentecostal religion, is because you aren't supposed to question anything. Just believe what you are told, keep that wallet and checkbook open, or you're going to hell in a hand basket.
I feel sorry for the folk who fall for this denomic nonesense. Prosperity gospel is not biblical. It is not what Jesus preached. Now, I know some folk are truly ignorant. Others just want to have their ears tickled. I pray these people open up their brains and hearts to the Truth before it is too late. I am guessing Jesus isn't too pleased with this.
Well put, exactly, Marci HF. Sarcastically, "the prosperity gospel" is found in the Book of Revelation, chapters 473 & 474, which were never written and never existed. I never heard of this so-called "prosperity gospel" until about 10 to fifteen years ago. It's truly sad that people fall for this demonic scam.
The other nonsense people fall for is that everyone needs to help themselves. That we only should give to evangelistic missions and not help people around us and in our churches get back on their feet when going through hard things. We also must be careful to not give to sponges though.
Then why does it say in the Bible that God gives us power to get wealth? And if you read further, and least you forget me. Then you’ll tumble down!nope it’s not to tickle an ear! It’s to move you, so you can be a blessing! The blessings are not to hoard! But to give for his purposes and God begins to bless you like you never thought possible!! The enemy wants you to believe otherwise! So be it. Believe what you want.
How can Prosperity Gospel be true if Martyrs exist? Kind of defeats the whole theory no? Also like 11/12 apostles were murdered so clearly God's Grace doesnt make one's life luxurious or easy. Also how do they reconcile the Book of Job with their philosophy? The whole point of Job was that he was a righteous man...
Peter Kreeft’s “Three Philosophies of Life” is a great read on this topic. It’s basically an overview of what human life is (à la Dante’s Divine Comedy). I recommend it.

Great analysis. You point out the major issue with so many of these protestant preachers is they remove verses from scripture from their context. I'm very glad that I left this for the true Church.
So does every denomination the Catholic Church included. If you really study the words of Jesus, you will see that Paul went against some of the teachings of Jesus. Look up what Jesus said about food prohibitions. Matthew 15, Mark 7, Acts 15:29-26. The only way that all Christians will come together is to study, believe and follow the words of Jesus. All of His words that were written down are in the four Gospels.
Trent seems to contradict himself in 8:20 by speaking against needing a jet to preach the Gospel, but then quotes Jesus himself giving a Sermon on a Plane.
As a former Baptist, I grew up hearing about the Prosperity Doctrine: “Give your money to God through us and He will give it back to you packed down and over-flowing.” I can’t say I ever saw it work quite this way, but I did see countless Protestant churches become incredibly wealthy pushing it.

Dr. Gene Scott was one of the best fleecers ever. He told people to tithe. He said, and I paraphrase, "What I do with the money is not your business. Your business is to tithe. My business is to do with it as I decide." People still donated. LOL
the final result is atheism. but yeah, along with ultraliberal, warm fuzzy non-denominationalism, the prosperity gospel is one of the truck stops on the road to oblivion.
1. These people have no connection to protestantism 2. Would it be better if they offered the remission of sins for money like the Catholic Church has done?
That was never church doctrine and was the act of a few bishops taking advantage of their congregations. It was condemned by the church and formally rebutted in the following council with a papal decree that it was forbidden.
Hi Trent, Back in 2005, at the church one Sunday, a woman told my best friend that I should go and see Benny Hinn to be heal of my physical disabilities. My response to this is flat out no
When I was a kid I fell into a type of Prosperity gospel Message that was based on the statement by Jesus [paraphrased] "How many parents if asked for a piece of bread would give their parents a rock? And how much more would your father in heaven whos is perfect give to you " I remember in Church thinking all sarcastically "my parents would." But I honestly believed if I just pray enough Ill get what I want in life. The irony is the thought that my parents would actually completely disqualified my belief because if my parents gave me a stone instead of bread it was probably because instead of just eating more carbs I should probably go be active and use the stone to workout or play or something. So God answer's prayers but sometimes the answer is "no." But when the answer is "no," know God has something better in mind. "Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven" after all.
Absolutely. My life has been mostly hell on earth but I'm not upset by this. God was sending me in the right directions to gain wisdom and empathy for others in all types of struggles and that is exactly what Jesus wants us all to do.
You are believing a lie and are likely to succumb to the great falling away from Jesus that is already occurring.
this should fill every Christian with righteous anger. we are meant to identify with the poor, the forgotten, the downtrodden. not the rich, the comfortable, the selfish. this is a sickening perversion of our faith and all those complicit should be actively ridiculed and shamed
The prosperity gospel was practiced consistently by John Mac Arthur. Now he is worth several millions. Read Julie Roys' articles and see how it worked for Mac Arthur!

I’m a Catholic, was a Protestant. I grant that almost all the prosperity preachers are predatory. But one thing you can’t deny is that what they teach is in the Bible. And you cannot convince them with this game of litetal and non-literal interpretations. How would anyone deny what is there in front of their very eyes?! Only way you can take them out of it is not sound exegesis, but by authority. Only by destroying the doctrine of private interpretation and establishing that the Majesterium is the only legitimate interpreter, you can take them out of it.. Exegesis is of no use here..
I was in the SBC and Pentecostal world for a while and to be honest these people are wolves in sheep’s clothing and are EVIL!!! I always knew something was off but it’s terrifying how many people blindly follow these evil creatures!!!
The Copeland ministry, so called, is riddled with divorces. Kelly, his daughter, four time around the block for her. Copeland's grandson, Jeremy, now a so-called preacher in Colorado, divorced right off the starting line with his first wife and now on second go around. Along as all his kids and grandkids get a Kenneth Copeland blessing on getting a divorce you don't get your ticket to heaven revoked.
I really like that, on top of the interesting discussions on theological topics and apologetics, Trent takes the time to address issues in other Christian (or Christian-adjacent) denominations. It is things like this that reinforce my hope that, no matter our metaphysical convictions and our disagreement on other moral issues, we can still find common cause. These people are hiding behind their government's well-meaning reluctance to interfere at all in the affairs of churches to run glorified investment scams, and they need to be debunked and opposed.
I heard a story once (dont know if it's true or just folk tale), but anyways, a person once wrote to a tv prosperity preacher asking for money so God can just bless the preacher 100 fold. Needless to say, this person never got a penny from the preacher
Probably true. I had no food at all for a month back in 1999, and was giving to a TV ministry, and asked if they could help me and they said no. I went 38-39 days with no food. A neighbor saw me and asked if I was ok. She could see I was skin and bones, and she took me to the store. At the time I was on disability. And all that check covered was my rent. My savings had run out. Those people are ALL frauds.
Those false prosperity preachers are an absolute shame and disgust. Can't believe how some people follow them and regard them as pastors or preachers. It was a great vid, Trent. God bless u.
One of my favorite rejoinders to this is to say- "Why not give the seed money to ME, and let God give YOU the increase?" I haven't had anyone give me any money yet. Makes me wonder why...
Cradle Catholic here. I ended up in a WOF church. It was the dynamic style of preaching and the lively worship music that captivated me and not the promise of wealth. As a matter of fact, the prosperity teaching was the aspect that ultimately turned me off. I was very poor at the time but dutifully did my bit to tithe and support the church. This meant that there were many times I went hungry. I turned to the leadership thinking that I would be offered support in return but nope! I was astounded at such an unchristian attitude and I walked away. This particular church was not a poor church and, while I never witnessed the excesses that some WOF churches exhibit (like the televangelists), those at the top all lived very comfortable lives. While I think it's only right that a preacher have his needs met, I don't think it should be at the expense of those he is supposed to serve: especially the poorest among them! It's interesting how they preached "living by faith" to the congregation (which translated meant give what you don't yet have and you'll receive more) while also drumming into us that they (the preachers) were entitled to receive from us justifying their position by saying that money was needed to fund various projects (therefore they needed a dependable source of income). So why couldn't they trust God like they were telling us to to do? Not many in the church asked this question and even gasped at the mere mention of the notion as though it was blasphemy. The manipulation and brainwashing runs deep. Unfortunately that experience led me to an even more twisted path (New Age) but I thank God that He continued to patiently and lovingly watch over me and eventually led me back to the faith I was raised in.
God is powerful in my life. I went to a small Pentecostal church and prayed for the church to grow. God answered my prayer and it grew large. After it did, the pastor and his wife would only speak to the wealthy parishioners. They also had their daughter sing and said that they were trying to help her start her singing career. So, they were selling her CDs during the service. God has shown me the truths and the lies of those working for the enemy. Both are in this world even in supposedly holy buildings. Jesus said "Do not be deceived." God bless you.
@@dinyhotmail I noticed this tendency in the church I attended as well. The pastors would only speak and surround themselves (give positions of privilege in the ministry) to those who were wealthy/well off. The poor were neglected, ignored and told they just needed to have more faith (by giving their last dime to these well off pastors). The ministry was a family business in which the pastor's whole family was involved (with additional side businesses supported by wealthy Christians). I did learn a lot while in that church which has proved valuable in my Christian walk but it took me a while to detangle myself from the weeds that were choking the truth (truth wrapped in lies). May God bless you and continue to do mighty works through you.
@@anta3612 Here are a few passages about this. Matthew 23:8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers." Luke 11:41 "But now as for what is inside you-be generous to the poor, and everything will be clean for you." John 14:23-24 23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me." 1 John 2:3-6 3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 3:10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. I am writing this more the people who are still deceived than to you because I know that you see through this behavior. I should explain that God raised me even though I was an atheist for my first forty years. I now realize that my entire life was led by God for a reason. So, I never went through being deceived by a church. I just left church after church as I saw them going against the truth of God. Study the words of Jesus only. In them, you will find the truth. God bless you.
@@dinyhotmail I was very young when all this happened and I didn't know scripture at the time so I was easily deceived. I sensed in my spirit that something wasn't right but it wasn't until I began reading scripture in context for myself (they would take verses out of context and twist them to fit their agenda/doctrine) that my eyes were fully opened. God bless you.
At the presentation, the Holy Family gave two turtledoves, which was the temple offering for poor people because the Holy Family always lived in poverty. Christ was born in absolute poverty in a cave on itchy straw between two brute beasts.
The best catholic perspective is the 2000 years of examples of wonderful practicing catholics - royalty giving everything away, rich forgiving debts, charity, building churches / orphanages/ hospitals / universities. Catholics live in this world but are not of this world. When praying the rosary we ask God to help us detach from the material lusts of the world
That prosperity gospel appeals to the flesh ! But they hardly ever balance it with suffering rejection persecution and they always tie the blessing to money
An acquaintance of mine befriended the Copelands. So we talked about when Copeland's organization gave him a Mercedes Benz so he would have a reliable car to drive to his crusades. If I were Copeland, I would have said, "Thank you, but I can't take it. Please return it."
Once the Protestants broke from the Church, it’s been a free-for-all interpret the Bible as you will, of course this sort of demonic predatory action was inevitable. And a lot of Protestants, even those who claim to not like the prosperity gospel in some ways still adhere to it. They see their financial success, especially the financial success and prosperity of America, as a sign of God‘s approval and blessing. And not for what it really is, getting their rewards on earth that they will not get in heaven.
You know most if not All Protestants don't believe this garage: so keep you're ignorant views to yourself. God does bless his people! But not because you give to one of these charlatans.
@@davidjanbaz7728 I agree with you David, God can bless people in all ways including financialy, do I believe in the "prosperity Gospel"? No, I believe in the real Gospel! God blessed Salomon with riches, He can bless us.
My thing is always how robust their musical instrument selection is. The first clip features an electronic drum kit that’s worth well over $7000. Makes me wonder where that money is going 🤔
Seeing, this and your interview with the former Christian Singer who lost his faith, it is sad to see how having a mindset that God is there to intervene so that we can be comfortable causes so many to lose faith when things get tough or see others suffer and ask why God doesn't do anything about it. That's why in the Bible, Israel clung to God in hardship and forgot him when things were going great! That's why people in third world countries that are actually poor and destitute are rich in their faith and never dream of apostatizing, while those of us who have comfort in the western first world nations fall away at the first sign of misfortune, and actively try to rid God from our lives. Perhaps God is not concerned with our comfort on Earth or with things getting hard for us, but uses those moments to call us to take refuge in him.
I love your utube posts and was going crazy with indecision as I had left the Catholic Church some years ago and was disenchanted with many aspects of it. Your knowledge and calm way of rebutting is helping me and I feel I may be going back to the place where I was baptized.
Don't choose a church. Choose Jesus. God is with everywhere at all times. You just need to invite Him into your life. God loves you and wants to help you because God is love. God bless you.
@@c.n.gichohi8316 Yes, I have always been there. God trained me well to understand the difference between the laws of God and the laws of men. In fact, I constantly speak against denominations. They are a schism in the true church and teach the laws of men instead of the laws of God. God bless you
This is an excellent expose on prosperity preachers, Trent. I am thankful that my priestly observance of simplicity teaches me to rely fully on God’s Divine Providence and that I need nothing more. God bless!
Bernadette of Lourdes did not ask God to cure her of her own illness but asked God to cure others. This was true of many other saints like Don Bosco who I think asked God to give him to take on the illnesses of others
I pray to God that these prosperity gospel preachers be exposed, that the Holy Spirit open the eyes of the people who are caught up on this. Pls. LORD free them and deliver them from their blindness. Thk You Father God.
