-- Kawhi stepping on Zaza's foot and destroying Kawhi's ankle changed the Spurs' fortune. They would have remained competitive, BUT truly, the new marketing deal allowed KD to join the GSW super team. That was the nail in the coffin for everyone (including Lebron and the Cavs).

No the 2014 Spurs were very athletic they took out the Thunder and some of those winds were blowout wins they won in six games and the 2015 where they couldn't repeat it's because they lost some of their key players they lost some key players and they also had some injuries too that's what happened and some of the other teams got a little bit better that year too in 2015 but no they handled that they handled the Thunder the Thunder were taking care of San Antonio took care of them the year before in six games three of those four wins were blowouts
@Nicky-hr1qz

The Spurs would have beaten the Clippers that year had they played a little bit smarter they could have took the Clippers out that year and they should have but part of the reason was and it's a fact they weren't quite as hungry they were inconsistent and yes the Clippers were more hungry that year San Antonio was not as hungry they may say they were but they weren't they lost some of their drive so that was another factor and that's just a true fact if they would have kept their foot on the gas they could have easily beat that Clipper team in six games

If you've watched Dom2K, a friend of his said Spurs always became champions when the era is transitioning. 1999 (after MJ and before Kobe and Shaq Era) 2003 (Twin Tower's last championship together) 2005 (Post Kobe and Shaq) 2007 (Before Lakers and Celtics Rivalry) 2014 (Before Curry's and GSW dominance)
@paksta
@paksta 7 месяцев назад
Nice theory. I'm not sure if I agree. Let's see: '99 - yeah, but it's the Spurs that stopped the Lakers 03 - yeah, so the Spurs and twin towers were good and ended the kobe/shaq dynasty. 05 - yeah, but they beat the team that totally killed off the Shaq/Kobe era. And Pistons were a team that Shaq couldn't beat that year with Wade either. 07 - ok, maybe. But Suns could have been a mini dynasty if not for Spurs (who beat them again) 14 - No way. They totally decimated absolute prime Miami, including prime Lebron. That was supposed to be the dynasty of the time. So all in all, seems it was the Spurs who caused the transitions and beat dynasty-caliber teams. They delayed the Shaq/Kobe Dynasty, then ended it. Then beat the team that killed off the last Kobe/Shaq super-team. Then they destroyed and ended the Heatles.

@@atlien1988 Thats just shows how Western conference was crazy. They had few tough losses: 2000-TD was hurt 2004-Fisher 0.4 buzzer, before that it should have been foul on Duncan (even Shaq said that). But even if they went to the finals, I think the Pistons would win against anybody that year. 2006-Manu had a bad foul on Dirk in game 7 which led to OT. They would probably win against the Suns, and they would be a tougher opponent to the Heat. 2008-Kobe&Lakers were better 2013-Ray Allen 2015- I think they were the worst match up for GSW, but CP3 had the best game of his life :D I think they were the best team 2005-2007 and 2013-2014

Us Grizzlies fans from the grit and grind era knew these guys too well. They were the evolved grit and grind. Tony Parker was a sharper Mike Conley and the same with Duncan and Randolph. I bet Pop would have loved Big Spain on that team, they would have absolutely dominated for years. You always expected the Grizzlies to lose by like 6 or something, and beating the Spurs was like winning the finals even in the regular season. Truly an amazing team these guys! Edit: That shot at 3:21 sent the game into 3OT. Grizzlies ended up winning that one, and that game is part of Grizzlies lore.

10 years after 2013 NBA Finals I am still crushed by this loss to the Miami. I believed that this was the year to get 5th ring for Timmy. 1999,2003,2005,2007 - all pointed that 2013 will be their championship year as well. But happened, what happened. And even if I enjoyed revenge chip in 2014, I felt at the same time that... something is over. Mostly due to aging the Big 3. My hopes was revived when LaMarcus Aldridge joined Spurs, but still it wasn't enough for capturing next title. So, the era ended... Since 2014 I am waiting for the next trip to the finals and I believe that the dryout will ends very soon. Greetings from the Spurs fan from Poland. Pozdrawiam serdecznie

@@smittywerbenjagermanjensen4737were so thankful he got out of San Antonio. we don't want people who don't want to play for our team. Just so you know, the Spurs admitted that they really missed that opportunity to make him the highest paid player on the team, and Jordans at that time realized that they haven't offered much sponsorship to Kawhi. The Spurs had offered a max contract to him, and Jordan brand has also introduced a new signature shoe for him. But his uncle really wants him to go home and play in LA and was not convinced by Pop. Now, he got two DPOY from Spurs, and 2 rings. I doubt he can add more. But I'm pretty sure, Wemby can make a huge impact in the future, and can add more rings to the Spurs franchise, and will have a better career than Kawhi. Their record had nothing to do with where they finished in standings. Do your research. Trailblazers were automatically 4th seed, even though teams below them had far more wins than them, because Silver made a rule that division winners (which Portland were in 2015) automatically secure a top-4 seed. That's what happened. That's why we unexpectedly got to see Clippers and Spurs in the 1st round. It didn't make sense

From what I remember the team played rather complacent throughout the year. Parker, Ginobili and Diaw all regressed. Kawhi was supposed to take over but didn't - only the next year did he reach superstar level. Only Duncan seemed fired up to win. They could've been 2-seed with 56 wins but dropped the ball on Game 82 getting blown out by NO. That left them with 55 wins and losing tiebreakers, dropping to 6th. I knew then that they didn't have it to win the title. Still, I was looking forward to them challenging the Warriors. Being up 3-2 on the Clippers and not closing the deal in Round 1 was a mild surprise, because the Clippers were really good that whole year. I don't remember Parker being injured because he wasn't playing well all season, but I should have, because 10.9ppg can't be explained otherwise.

I don’t blame Kawhi for wanting to leave my Spurs. I believe it was Uncle Dennis who made things ugly With the Clipper the dude was found to be exposed for wanting so much incentives. He wouldn’t even let Pop talk to Kawhi man to man to try and work things out

I think the clippers just matched up too well with us that year, if we beat la i think we get to the finals.... idk if we beat cleveland, on one end no kevin love but on the other end kyrie wouldn't have got hurt

9:17 this is actually ridiculous. Didn't appreciate them enough previously, style over substance basketball. That Zaza move was dirty as heck, else I think they match-up really well and I'm not saying they'll definitely win BUT we would definitely have a different history. & Having the #2 player in the league JOINING the #1 TEAM that defeated them is insane.

2014 wasn't that bad. 2013 was the one that hurt. I was actually ok when the Spurs lost and Timmy waved bye to the game as he was heading out. Always mentioned 2014 was good enough to last me a decade. Interestingly enough, Spurs got Wemby. Made those mediocre years after the big 3 era was worth it.

Because pop lost the last game on purpose so the pelicans could get in and it warped the standings. The 2 biggest challengers to the warriors met in the 1st round instead of the spurs playing and beating gsw in round 2. It ruined the bracket and started the warriors reign

Spurs fan here since 2005. I'd say that it was our 7th Silver n' Black title. The Warriors don't have the chance to beat that team. Durant was man handled by Kawhi the whole game and can dominate the whole series, LaMarcus can really bully Draymond anytime, while the role players have enough speed and toughness to guard Steph and Klay. Imagine. Just that Game 1, Kawhi got 26 points before he got injured by their savior, Zaza in the 3rd qtr. Durant got what? 7 points!!!!! then he played well in the 4th cuz Kyle Anderson is the back up SF at that time. Curry and Klay were around 20% FG. Draymond still got his ass kicked by LaMarcus. but just bcuz of that dirty play, they won the series. Not fair. And people even thought about the 2017 Warriors being better than the 2001 Lakers? lol. Not just fair. They don't want to compete that series. They were so desperate to get their revenge on Lebron. That's how shameful it is. Karma strikes when they got beat up by that 2019 Toronto. Still, F#ck Kawhi and F#ck the Warriors. Anyways we got Wemby now and looking forward to the bright future of the San Antonio Spurs ❤️

The Spurs never could repeat at any point. They had injuries in 2000, lost in the 2nd round in 2004, lost in 2006, lost in the WCF in 2008, and lost in the first round in 2015. They could never get over the hump. And yet people call them a "dYnAsTy" LMAO. Please, come on, great team? absolutely, but let's have some standards, that word gets thrown around way too often.

i bet if they had beaten the heat during 2013 they would not have won this ring in 2014. They're the team that says "hey we won, now let's slack off but not to the point of missing the playoffs" . That loss at 2015 vs the clippers was a shocker. A doc rivers led team overcame a 3-2 deficit and won??

They weren't able to repeat because the team they played in the playoffs made more baskets than they did. And that's how it goes sometimes.
