Mines on order! As a sport bike rider, this bike blew me away! Cant wait to finally pick it up. Will certainly be more enjoyable on long trips with a pillion, and as a bonus the sport bike can be saved for track use 🥰
I know what you mean! I tried the Standard, similar in many ways to this, and the salesman said "Give it some beans" and I did. It has got a much better handling than I thought. Really rock'n'roll bike!
We are living the same life right now. I'm leaving my 08 gsxr for track days and occasional jaunts around. Coolest part was finding out that adding cruise is only $300. Congrats on your ride.
@@otter7467 I also added cruise over had the bike a few weeks and smash 1000m already. Loving every moment it’s great. Worth noting I’m 27 not 57 also! Lots of parts in order! the only negative to say about Harley is the delay in accessory parts! Happy to be part of the brand though.
I like the Fat Bob much better. This thing has truly stupid handlebars. Torque rules. No substitute for cubic capacity. I love my MT-01 back in Portugal. 1670 cc and a mere 263 kg. But I am coming round to really liking cruisers. Good review.
Thanks mate! Not sure I could live with the bars on UK roads in the long run but they are kindof comfortable on a straight road. Makes more sense for the US perhaps...
I rode a chop with mini apes for a couple of years and they are really comfortable. As a general rule, if its a gentle slope downward from your shoulders to the grips it's great. Proper apes where your hands are above your shoulders however....
Bought a '21 Street Bob in green. Subdues the loud graphics the best of the 4 colors, imo. Coming from essentially everything but a cruiser. It handles surprisingly nice. Brakes are my main issue. It takes so much squeeze to get any clamp and the lack of an adjustable lever makes me think about braking vs just having the lever there and giving me the feedback I expect. I disagree with the levers though, I hate the chunkiness and will likely swap them out for a more traditional sized lever. The more rear centric braking bias has taken a bit to get used to, but 500 miles in and I'm adjusting to it. In all it was the only Harley other than the softtail standard that I was interested in.
Out of the entire HD range this is probably my favourite. The other Softtails just look like this bike with some shiny gubbins bolted on. I prefer the clean elegance of this
A word to prospective buyers... if you have a Harley and want a 'better soundtrack' don't be lulled into buying new silencers (mufflers)..... there is a baffle plate about ten inches or so inside them that can be drilled out using a suitable sized drill with an extended shaft that has a reduced diameter extension that will fit in any mains power DIY drill. The drill bits are available on ebay, and it'll save you many hundreds of pounds. You don't even need to take the mufflers off to do it ! In the days before catalysts the plate could be punched out with a broom handle ! Just drill out the baffle plate and leave the catalytic bit intact to provide some back pressure and the ECU will deal with it OK or if you really want to, you can fit some XIED's that are easily available on the 'net, the bike may feel like it has less bottom end but it'll breath better overall - in the USA most staes don't have noise laws and your 'drilled out' mufflers will be just like the ones they have over there. As for the hand grips, Sportster grips are reduced diameter and are a direct replacement if like me you do not have big hands - it had them within hours of collecting the bike !
I've put 3,000 miles on my fxbbs114. Tons of power. Clutchless 1st-2nd gear rolling burn-outs to common on the stock rear tire. Will be upgraded soon as spinning ain't winning. I've put 16" primeapres on mine and it keeps my arms lvl instead of the stock bars. I've put a saddlem explorer to give more support for the "at greater than highway speeds". Love it. I also installed a 25" sissy for my pack outs. I got off grid camping a lot. The bike hasn't let me down yet. It's already been through extreme rain storms, flooding, mud, 100s of miles of dirt and gravel roads.with hurricane season right around the corner. A 1,000 miles of stop and go in city traffic and the rest at high speeds. As you can tell I didn't go by the recommended 3k rpm cap for the break in. I just got on it and rode. Worked out pretty good for since everyone else that buys the fxbbs114 is have warranty work done at 300 miles lol. Luck of the draw I guess. Love the bike. Edit: the mirrors lol they do all the "vibbin about" you can't see shit over 50mph out of them.
Weak. Unless HD changes their tune they will be left behind. It’s just not enough power, nothing changes, it’s like they just keep making a motorcycle that they made 60 years ago. 118 tq out of that motor is just lackluster. 86 hp is garbage for that displacement. They keep making bikes based on riders that can’t even ride anymore or are no longer with us. They will be in the same boat- dead. They did it to themselves though.
Brilliant man. Love your style of review and happy out someone's fairly represented harleys. Harley fan boy here with two, so hope to see more HD on the channel. Cheers man ☘👍
I’m not a HD man but I really like it! Ahh fook I hate getting old! I sat on a Bobber with ape hangers a few years back and (although it looked uncomfortable) it was actually really comfortable! Two questions for ya Bob. 1; are the tyres tubeless? and 2; will triumph disown you now? 😆
Bob, how did you get on with the digital speedo in bar clamps? I am not a fan of the " clock-in-tank" style but this looks much smaller to read than my Suzuki.
I’m digging the beard & sneakers look MOTOBOB! I think you’ll suit the Harley range of bikes!😎😉🤣✅ Seriously, your info & reviews are excellent! Keep it up & thanks for your videos 👌
I went for the FatBob with the same 114 M8 engine - it really is a beast. You can rip it & have loads of fun without getting into license shedding speed like my old Fireblade.
Minimal cockpit may be stylish but most people who ride these are 50+ years, so for many I reckon, me included its totally useless!! I tested an FXDR with same or similar cockpit and I don't wear reading glasses when riding so the tiny numbers I can't see what they are! Very annoying.
Hi Bob. Beautifully presented. There were no nearby dealers in Suffolk when I was riding so a Harley sadly was not a practical option. Wonderful head turners, and with massive low down torque surprisingly practical on our roads. BobUK.
Great bike, i got the 2020 model and paint it gunship grey with cvo Emblem. 180 backweels and the bike would be perfect for me, Bit this modification is to extensiv for me. Changed my indicators in LED, J&H exhaust, rear view mirror under the handelbar, number plate on the side and a new Saddleman seat which close the gap TP the tank. Awesome Kind regards from germany
Stupid question please guys…. If I bought a new one of these for £13,500.00 and parked it up in my garage, what would it’s value be in 4 or 5 years time? Asking for a mate. Thanks 🙏
As an owner of a 2023 Street Bob, I love it. I bought it because of its simplicity. I previously owned Ducati motorcycles and this bike is totally in a class of its own. While not super fast it does have good acceleration and handling (the ape bars do limit its handling in tight turns) it is very easy to operate. I find the rear brake on my 2023 to be better than most bikes (mine does not have ABS brakes). I did add a crash bar which saved my bike when the wind blew it over while parked or someone knocked it over. LED turn signals upgrade was a must and a new seat. I live close to the Tail of the Dragon (318 curves in 11 miles) and I am anxious to try the bike on this road.
Great review on a great looking bike, BUT there is that usual missing break disc on the front wheel that really should have been there before it left the factory, HARLEY do this with a lot of these big heavy bikes I would have expected that to be a euro 5 compliant safety issue, that 2nd break disc on the front wheel would be the first mod on this bike for me, then a stage 1 and COBRA short shots
The phrase that is affectionally used over here with the big V twins is: Man that bike "Pulls like a train" . It is really infectious and memorable . My 1700 Yamaha was amazing but I have to say I felt like I was set free going from a 720 pound bike back to a 510 pound Bonnevile and from 42 MPG US to 56MPG US They are great in a big head wind on the thruways though .. Great review Rob ...
Before the Pan America came out the other fast side joke you could hear on a Saturday night was "Have you seen the new Harley Davidson"? "Not since second gear" .. SOrry :)
I ride all sorts and I switched from a ZX10 and Versys 1000 to a Fatbob 114 in 2018. Haven't looked back. The Fatbob 114 is an absolute hoot to ride, and comes with good brakes and suspension from the off. I regularly ride and tour on other machines, and in 2019 I rode the Fatbob down to Austria with my touring crowd (Wrong Direction we call ourselves :) ). Other bikes in the group include Multistrada, Superduke, Tracer 900, Capornord etc. The 114 motor is so strong through the range it was never found wanting in the fast twisties, plus it does all you need at touring speeds and hit an indicated 130mph on the Autobahn. Having test ridden the new Road King Special I am considering upgrading from the Fatbob for the carrying capability, and greater touring comfort - no difference performance wise.
Glad to see a not so very big guy ride one of these, lots of other videos are people 6ft+ tall, and as a 5' 5" guy it makes it harder to judge what id look like on these bikes. great comprehensive look at the bike, thanks !
I picked up the baja orange 21 bob 114, which is smooth as silk for a solid mounted motor. Alread did a mirror flip and plan on some V&H slash cut slip-ons. Compared to my old 04 1200 custom sporty which felt really top heavy, the new street bob is 100 lbs heavier but have a lower center of gravity feel.
If it had forward controls stock I would be more interested. But I prefer this bikes overall look and tank with simple cap. I don’t like the huge plastic crap on the other models tanks.
Nice bike, I so appreciate you showing this bike off, cleaned up, and polished, not with mud and grime all over it, as I see with some channels. It shows respect and quality in the presentation imv..
The original Street Bob was probably the last visceral bike they made, simple motor and frame combination. Hopefully this revisits that, obviously sans the Dyna frame.
@@D_Dowg626 I got a low rider s, depends on how you ride and what you are looking for, honestly go to a demo event and just ride them all. Then buy a used one that already has all the parts you want. Aftermarket parts will cost you thousands. I've waited on my cruise control from HD for a year now. Now that I think about it F*** HD go buy a yamaha. HD will charge you 400-600 to service your bike, free tires for life is a scam, my free rear tire cost $160 to put on. Spend your hard earned money somewhere better
Excellent review. I would fancy one of these but at £14K that's just too expensive.....and with the extra tariff kicking in soon HD are going to suffer big time I suspect.
Why put such massive beautiful engine then only have 1 single rotor at front?Seriously I am sick of listening HD riders like the look of it.Real riders love function over looks! To me actually looks like face with 1 eye missing.
Got mine; a 2021 in Vivid Black. The stock seat is terrible and I replaced with a Saddlemen with the extra gel cushioning. What a difference! The stock seat is low and when I ride, my knees are above my hip and results in a leg cramp, and has a built in 'backrest' which is awesome. The new seat raises me just enough so my legs are level with the ground and don't cramp. Next is to remove the stock mufflers and put on Vance & Hines. I've forgotten all about my sportbike!! :)
Try the Sport Glide, think you'll like it. Extremely versatile as a tourer or a cruiser or remove bags and fairing and instant bike for pottering around town. Biggest problem there's no stage 1 kit yet for 2021 Euro 5 engines I believe. Nice video though thanks Bob 👍.
Sounds like a Briggs and Stratton lawnmower Handlebars from a 70’s bicycle Indicators from a 70’s motorcycle LCD screen from a 70’s Casio Watch (except smaller) I’m sure there’s a lot of good stuff but I’d have to go straight to the accessory catalogue!
