I was thinking the same thing when you said the 4th Gen would go down in history as the 12V did. Love the videos Paul, I’m an avid watcher and love all the information on the trucks. Thank you!!
My 2015 is a beast. Purrs like a kitten. Gets 21 mpg on the highway (hand calculated). It is shy of 100k miles. Was put on a weight loss program at 10k miles. Oil changes and fuel filters at 7k miles (done myself). The engine is still on its break in period 😊 Light towing, a utility trailer every now and then. It mostly sits in the garage waiting to be driven.
I love my 4th gen it converted me from chevy to 14 ram and will never go back looking to buy a second motor to build and set back. Hope to get many more years
New 18’ 2500 Laramie owner at 90k. Bought used without really knowing anything but liking Cummins. Pull rv and very impressed. With the right equipment “even a caveman….” Thanks
my 2017 lifted on 37's is my daily driver....120kms a day round trip.. can see for miles down the road, people get out of my way and i feel safe as hell behind the wheel....
4th gen fam tap in!. Hands down best generation. Tho i love a 2nd gen 24v . And early 3rd gen. Nothing especially for price can beat what u get with a 4th gen ram
My 2022 mega cab longhorn transmission went out at 900 miles 3500 HO It took 2 months to get it fixed and they even declined my towing and rented car. Dealership paid me back a while later The customer service was terrible a nightmare. Been with dodge since 89. First gen still have it and I’ve bought 12 dodges since. I think I’ve bought my last.
I've had very similar sounding issues on my 2020 as what you describe. Pretty much the exact same issues then I swapped in a CP3 conversion and 40k miles later I have zero issues. I have no clue how it could fix the frequent regen issue, none of it makes any sense to me but all my problems went away. I just hope they stay away.
Yet again either Paul you don't know or won't tell if it's the hydraulic lifters failing that is destroying the fifth gen please specify at this point I'm thinking Amsoil engine flush at every oil change with Amsoil Signature Series Max Duty 5w40 Diesel oil. And the addition of the Amsoil 2 micron oil bypass filtration system. To remove all soot above 2 micron size to keep from plugging up the lifters. Sir maybe the Schaeffers just not getting it done with those lifters.
I truly regret selling my 16' Longhorn, got about 200,000kms out of my 19' luckily with no issues aside from a leaky manifold, currently have 115,000kms on my 22' and getting frequent regen codes.. decided to buy a brand new Limited Mega Cab last week. Same 6.7HO as all the others...... lasted less than 24hrs off the dealer lot and 699kms and the transmission completely left the chat. I am truly disheartened by these new trucks and really hope Ram's next truck is worth buying.
@@repairvehicle it's just like what do we do ? I'm up in Canada where the 4th gens are all starting to rust and rot. US trucks are insanely expensive. Having brand new is nice with the warranty but you can't even trust a new truck anymore...
@@EhFokes buy truck and keep it undercoated every year, I live in rust belt state and my equipment is spotless and I don’t wash my vehicles in the winter either
My only complaint coming from a 2005 HO dually to my 2018 HO dually, is the fuel mileage. I understand the 18 has more power, geared lower, but can only manage 15ish empty, and towing 20k lucky to get 6 or 7. Other than that, love the truck. 44k miles, hope it lasts many more years.
Yes please explain what is causing the 2022 engine failures, I'm thinking the factory recommended oil is not adequate protection for these engines? Synthetic Blend is lousy oil.
Got myself a 2012 mega cab Laramie with 80.000 miles…But 500 miles, the way I drive is not enough for me,I still have a Titan with 389.000 miles and not a single problem with engine and trans..So I’m expecting way more then 500k…The problem with most of drivers is …Your foot👌
I've never had a 5th gen HD but I have had a 4th gen 2017 2500 6.7 Cummins, 2016 1500 5.7 hemi, and a 5th gen 2023 1500 5.7 hemi.... between the 1500's, the 2023 interior is nicer, but truck-wise the 2016 sounds better, drives better, has less eco crap.
Looking at a 2016 2500 Laramie Cummins with 205k on the odometer. I'm not a diesel guy but it seems to run good. Should I shy away or pull the trigger. I need something that hauls trailers better than my 17' 1500 Ram.
I'm on my second 5th gen. I had four 4th gens. I like everything about the 5th gen better. Don't know why you're having so many issues. I don't put the miles on like you do, but my 2020 had 110000 when i traded and my current 2022 is at 72000. Not a single issue besides all of Rams stupid recalls. T6 5w40 every 10000 miles.
hey Paul, do you believe in diesel additives? if so which one? I just bought a 17 3500 duallywith 37kon it ,4.10 with asin I wanna take good care of it also do you have a video on good affordable oils? thanks for your videos
I have a 2015 ram 3500 crew cab with aisin and 40k. I purchased it to tow a 5th wheel toy hauler camper. Anything I should be aware of or do. Thank you, Ryan
Love my 2015, haven’t had a single problem with it,120,000 miles and all of a sudden my fuel mileage has gone down, way down! About half of what I was getting a I can’t figure out why! Anyone have any ideas I’d love to hear them.
Oil shouldn’t be the issue here, there’s something going on with the metallurgy on the internals? Possibly Cummins switched suppliers of raw materials like a lot of companies the last couple of years and this could be a contributing factor..?
@@zytekfan Hemis have had issues for so long, it seems like that is an oiling issue, not oil itself, but oil making it to the top end if I remember correctly. Uncle Tonys Garage on RU-vid does a very good explanation.
