Why The Bendu Is the ONLY Thing Thrawn Ever Feared - Star Wars Explained 

The Bendu feels like such a Tolkein level of character. I wish we could have gotten more of him.

“I see your defeat, like many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace.” I never would’ve thought Bendu meant that literally, but heah, what do you know.

That's a pretty weird question because it's obvious why he is scared because Bendu is no mortal, and has immense "real" power. Thrawn can't do anything against it, even if he would learn the force like kanan he would have no chance, as it's much stronger as a humanoid jedi. Thrawn thinks strategically and thinks that you can obviously always beat and outsmart your enemy.

I wish we had more lore and history on Bendus' species, they seem fascinating

The Bendu is probably one of the most intriguing and interesting characters in canon. I highly doubt he’ll be in the Ahsoka Series but there might be a reference to him.

The unknown is Thrawn's second greatest weakness. His main weakness is his greatest strength. Once someone knows how Thrawn's mind works, they can plant false information in the form of art, food, culture, etc, to lead Thrawn to take actions and tactics that will lead him into a trap and defeat.

this is partly why i loved rebels so much. the writing was so good some times, with very deep subject matter.

The most terrifying thing you could ever face is something that is unknown after all you can’t fight something if you can not understand it’s strengths or weaknesses and if this thing and understand you it makes one feel even more powerless.

The funny thing about this is there are lots of creatures in the Star wars universe that he won't be able to understand and for anyone that may not know HP Lovecraft said it himself I don't know if these were his exact words but "the oldest and most powerful and primal emotion is fear and the most powerful form of fear is the fear of the unknown" or something like that not to mention from what I can tell He's the type of person that thinks the force is nothing more than science or tricks despite it literally being able to alter the fabric of the universe itself something far beyond what his technical mind can ever comprehend.

If thrawn is scared of it you should be too.

No Thrawn wasn't talking about the end of Rebels. He's talking about whatever is going on in Ahsoka. The Ghost Crew is all back together, besides Ezra and Zeb which I'm sure will show up. I think Bendu was talking about the ultimate fall of Thrawn.

And now Thrawn is surrounded by the magic of the nightsisters. He has adapted from this encounter with Bendu

I'm sure this experience, topped by his defeat at Lothal, will drive Thrawn to find a way to counter the Force. Which I think will bring back the Ysalamiri. We're talking about a whole new galaxy, there can be anything there.

Also I think it's important to make the distinction that while the Bendu falls to earth it most likely isn't shot down or at least if it is shot down its because it allowed itself to be shot down knowing Thrawn would seek it out to question it I mean it Vanishes with a laugh on the wind that dosnt sound like something that was defeated and shot down mear minutes beforehand.

Bendu said, "I see your defeat. Like many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace." So this likely referred to the defeat on Atollon, not the ultimate demise of Thrawn. The many arms being those of the purrgil. Not sure there is any added point of Bendu returning during the initial season of Ahsoka. Although, it was part of the Rebel's story line, so you never know. More interesting to me, is what has been going on with Ezra and Thrawn in the neighboring galaxy over the years.

Thrawn has mostly logic in his control and can do anything with it as longest it obeys the laws of physics he wins. But when it comes to super natural things thats when he is afraid because it doesn’t work the same way

Not the least bit surprised that the Bendu scared and enraged Thrawn. Something or someone would have to be truly extraordinary in their own right to do that to someone like him.

This is problem with most people. Even the genius like Thrawn. They have enormous intelligence yet can't understand ordinary things. People fear what they don't understand. Great insight into a complicated character. He’s even more complex in the original Timothy Zahn trilogy from the 90s.

The smoking hole in the dirt would indicate that he didn't shoot him in the head. He tried but the Bendu is obviously far too powerful in the force to be killed via blaster.

I hope this makes him evolve his ways, maybe we'll see him even more powerful. Who knows maybe thrawn can train his own force wielder's as he may not be able to beat the creature but does he have to defeat it when he can forge weapons, force weapons such as Jedi and sith but of his own design. Could thrawn find a way to create true balance Force users loyal to him and his people?

Thrawn had already won the Battle of Atollon, capturing the rebel leadership when Bendu showed up, wrecked some shit and completely removed Thrawn from the board until after the rebels had escaped.

I'd bet money that Baylan is searching for the Bindu, and that there is a Bindu living on Peridea. Thrawn wishes to escape the Bindu and the night sisters left their home-world fleeing the Bindu. There has to be a reason why Peridea was abandoned. Peridea has to be some kind of cosmic focal point, as Lothal was. The night-sister's magic is stronger on planets that are located on these focal points. That is why they settled on Dathomir. I think Baylan is not Sith. I think he is a Jedi Temple Guardian (yellow lightsaber) , and that he fought in the Clone Wars as a general , as many other Guardians did. I think Baylan can use Vaapad just like Mace Windu, and he may have been Mace Windu's padawan. This would result in him having an Orange Light sabre (yellow tainted with red). I Think Baylan has rejected the ways of the Jedi and sees that the Jedi and Sith are both wrong and both failures and he is seeking to master both sides of the Force. This is why he is seeking out the Bindu. It is possible that Ezra, has interacted with the Bindu on Peridea. That's my theory !

I can see it clearly now, the sith seek to improve their lives, they seek to change the outcome of the hand they were given. The bendu is destiny. And a sith couldn't calmly accept something that they couldn't control.

Bendiu is a magnificent race that understood the force itself.

Thrawn has been exposed to both Sith and Jedi knowing a few ins and outs between both sides, but for a non-sensitive trying to understand the force and being exposed to a different force entity that has no single allegiance to either Dark or Light. I’m sure that would strike fear in anyone.

The Dark Side can be studied, the Light Side can be studied, but The Bendu is neither! No-one, Sith nor Jedi, can learn to understand The Bendu, and that knowedge will scare Thrawn! The Bendu is beyond understanding. The Bendu is beyond reach. The Bendu really is BEYOND!
