Why the Bible Is Actually a Catholic Book (feat. Fr. Chris Alar, MIC)

Do you often wonder about the origin of the Bible? How often do you hear people say that the Bible is not actually a Catholic book?
Ascension is delighted to collaborate with the Fr. Chris and the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception on the development of a new, one-of-a-kind Bible for Catholics: the Divine Mercy Catholic Bible (tinyurl.com/yz9busnr).
Divine Mercy is a gift given to us by God. Devotion to Divine Mercy has been growing through the revelations to St. Faustina and the modern-day ministry of St. John Paul II. What Catholics may not realize is that the revelation of Divine Mercy is interwoven into the Bible.
The Divine Mercy Catholic Bible clearly shows the astounding revelation of Divine Mercy amidst the timeless truths of Sacred Scripture. This Bible is edited and compiled by several Marians of the Immaculate Conception - including Fr. Chris Alar, Fr. Donald Calloway, and Fr. Seraphim Michalenko - and other authors to explain how God encounters us with mercy through his Word and sacraments.
Reading this Bible will help transform your mind, heart, and soul as you discover the overwhelming love God has for you.

The three pillars of the Church is Sacred Scripture, Apostolic Tradition, and the Magistarium one is not greater or less than the other.

I don't know of anyone in the Roman catholic church, who knows and preach, the sacred scriptures. How could it be a pillar of the faith? And if sacred scriptures is not taught, forget about traditions and the Magistarium. They are both useless for eternal life. Absolutely useless! Only Jesus Christ can save a person. He is the Savior of the world. And nobody else. And people are saved by faith in Him. John 3:16 Not by practicing a man made religious system, like the RCC, or any other religious man made system. Wake up!

@@johnflorio3052 I have been a Roman Catholic from birth to the age of forty. so, you won't teach me what the RCC is, They are a cult, who have stolen Jesus Christ glory, by teaching to pray to Mary, and asking her help, instead of praying to teh Father, by Jesus Christ alone. Luke chapter 11, verse 2 They have made salvation available only by good works and receiving the sacraments, while our apostle Paul wrote that salvation is a gift from God that you take by faith. It's not from us. But from God. NOT BY WORKS. It's written for you in Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8,9. Is it not, John florio? Yes it is. Now, you choose: Jesus and His word. or your cult.

Always remember: „And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church“. And Peter was the first pope of our holy church. Never let evangelicals (which formed just 500 years ago and has many different movements in it) confuse your believe in God, Jesus and the Church. Some of there „Priests“ have guns during their „Mass“. Enough said I think.

@@firefly3196 You have simply believed that Peter was the first pope, when in fact there has never been any pope! If you would read the scriptures, you would see in the book of Acts, that Peter was sent to the Jews, and Paul was sent to the gentiles. How then, could Peter go to Rome? You should also know that Peter was married! Yes. Jesus healed Peter's mother in law, in Matthew 8:14. Read it yourself. Peter also wrote two short epistles, in which there is no mentioning of him being or becoming a pope. Read them yourself! Would it be possible, that Peter forgot to write about such an important ministry? No, he didn't. He simply has never been a pope. Now, this is the truth from the bible. Not from the evangelicals.....but from the bible. Read and study your bible, andd then you will flee from Roman Catholicism, FireFly.

It's not a doctrine. And it's the most viable when it comes to the word of God. Because it is written. Paul would encourage Luke to write and write. Thank goodness he did. I can go on on. Also, Jesus started a church, through the Apostles before there ever was a holy book (Christian Bible.) Our early church fathers all had an important role in why we are Christians today, and I am so grateful for them for persevering in a time of martyrdom and religious persecution. By reading what they taught and wrote about in the first century and beyond, it all points to and can be explained by the Catholic Church.

Our Bible is a Jewish book. I think when we claim it’s a Catholic book we linger on the debate of who is the “real” Christian. Which seems like Fr. Chris was speaking to another Christian and where this speech is coming from. Let’s continue to keep our hearts and eyes on God’s love story. Our apostolic tradition was following The Way to teach others of our identity in Christ so we can repent, convert our hearts, and partake in God given sacraments to nourish the soul in our faith journey and begin to cultivate our own relationship with Our Father. Praying for healing of body, hearts, and minds of all my brothers and sisters in Christ! 🥲🙏🏻🕊

Paul is the apostle of the gentiles (Romans 11:13) which is to say his thirteen books' Romans through Philemon are addressed to gentiles. Genisis through Acts and Hebrews through Revelation are addressed to Jews. Many of the books in bible have a salutation which means they're addressed to specific people or groups. For instance, James is specifically addressed to Israel. James 1:1 says, "James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting." Gentiles are not the twelve tribes and were never part of a nation that they could be scattered from like the Jews were. So, you are part right and part wrong. The majority of the bible addressed to Jews, a small part of the bible is addressed to gentiles, and no part of the bible is addressed to Catholics. Catholicism incorrectly diverts gentiles from gentiles books and encourages them to adopt Jewish books for their instructions.

The Old Testament is a Jewish book, but the new Testament isn't really. It's a new covenant, new wine skins. For one thing, the jews don't read the new Testament. They were killing Christians, for example, Stephan was stoned in Acts & St Paul was also persecuting Christians, and Christians weren't allowed in synagogue, etc. So, eventually, the term Christian was used to identify this new sect or followers of Christ. To be Jewish you would need to be circumscribed, obey the dietary laws & feast days etc. To this day, Jewish & Muslims only consider Jesus a prophet. Not the messiah or the Son of God. So, I would clearly state that New Testament is not really a Jewish book. Although, some of the authors were from the Jewish culture. Clearly, current Jews do not recognize New Testament as being a Jewish book.

Know your proverbs. I suggest reading chapters from the Book of Proverbs (31 chapters) at the rate of one a week, followed by the Book of Ecclesiastes (12 chapters of The Preacher), then the Wisdom of Solomon (19 chapters) and finally the Wisdom of Ben Sirach (51 chapters). This makes 113 chapters in total. We can fit this into a two year cycle by reading two chapters per week during Lent, which gives us the ability to read up to 116 chapters over two years. I have written down all the chapter numbers on a 6 inch x 4 inch index card which is both the placeholder in my Bible, and the means of ticking off as I go. I could of course read the whole lot in one go, but I think these wisdom readings are intended to be accessed in a cycle something like this. The Bible is a massive book and we could do with hints on how to find our way around it. Other people's suggestions are welcome.

An interesting numerology coincidence occurs here as well. In the bible, the number 7 denotes perfection (God rested on the 7th day, 7 spirits that minister to God, 7 sacraments), and the number 3 represents the Holy Trinity. On the other hand, the number 6 represents imperfection (as in 666). Therefore, 73 books sure sounds a lot better than 66 books!

I think it's interesting how you defend burning Bibles because of non-approved translations and claim that Latin actually expanded the Bible's spread, and didn't admit that eventually the Church did indeed translate it itself when it realized it couldn't avoid it any longer.
@anthonylowder6687

The only problem about the claim that the Catholic Church translation of the Hebrew and Greek into Latin so that it could spread the word to all the world is that only the clergy could read and understand Latin not the regular people who were basically illiterate so that they had to depend on their priest and bishops to tell them what the Bible was saying. Unfortunately what the clergy told the people and what the Bible said were vastly different so it wasn’t until the Reformation that people were able to hear and read the Bible for themselves and thus break away from the Catholic Churches control over them.

The Bible must be read with humility and openness. Unfortunately, the Roman Catholic Church did not allow it to be published in the 1500's and Wm. Tyndale responded: "I defy the Pope and all his laws; and if God spares my life, ere many years, I will cause the boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost!" I think Vatican 2 changed that. When I was a child, the Roman Catholic Church told its parishioners not to read the Bible because only the priest could properly interpret what was in it. Today we have many translations of the Bible and early autographs of the New Testament have been discovered such that the Bible's authenticity and relevance remain unquestioned by scholars such a Dr. Daniel Wallace at Dallas Theological Seminary.

The Bible is not a product of the Church of Rome. The Roman Church did not write a single letter in it. The texts found in the Bible were NOT selected by the Roman Church alone, but by several different regional churches working together. I don't understand why Roman apologists feel the need to engage in misinformation in order to promote their faith. There are many great things about Roman Catholicism. There is no need to engage in deception in order to promote it.

Tell me about the earliest Jewish believers of Yeshua. You talk about Christmas being pagan but human sacrifice is the epitome of pagan rituals. The errors in this video are many. First of all, the early church was catholic, meaning united, but was not the Roman Catholic Church, which was a later development several centuries later, circa 500 AD. The Canon of Scripture was settled long before that, for example, Athanatius, in his Festal Letter of 367 AD list all 27 books of the New Testament. The best that the Roman Catholic Church can say is that they REAFFIRMED what was already known to be the Canon of Scripture. Very important, but not unique. All the writers of the Bible are Jews, who were around centuries and thousands of years before there was ever a Roman Catholic Church. Paul affirms this:Rom 3:1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Rom 3:2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. 1Ti_3:15 ......which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. Notice, the church is the pillar, that is, it is to support the truth, but is not itself the truth. Or looking at another verse: 2Th 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Paul is writing about 60 AD. These traditions were already existing before then, and he is not giving the green light to a Roman Catholic Church 500 years later to add, like priests can't marry circa 1000 AD, the doctrine of transubstantiation, 12th Century 4th Lateren Council, Mary Adoration etc etc....all later non-scriptural inventions. And finally: the video actually refutes itself: 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be COMPLETE, throughly furnished unto all good works. Nowhere is the need for the Roman church mentioned. Also note that the Jews did not include the Apocrypha in the Hebrew Canon of Scripture; they're the experts...Rom 3:2 This was reaffirmed at the council of Jamnia 90 AD,,again, long before a Roman Catholic Church existed. Also Jerome a scholar of Latin Vulgate Bible fame recognized that no Apocryphal books are part of the Canon of Scripture. They were not recognized by Rome as part of the Canon of Scripture, until 1546 at the Council of Trent. Luk_8:18 Take heed therefore how ye hear:

To this day, Protestants still persists in their errors- even their own view of history. The one holy, and apostolic Church (The Catholic Church) exists to this day is because of the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus established His Church through Peter, whom He has given the keys to the kingdom of heaven. For He said' "whatever you bound on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loosed on earth shall be loosed in heaven. The Holy Spirit is actively manifested in the church's Sacred Tradition, the Bishops (Magisterium), and the Scripture formation. Without the Holy Spirit, the church would not have survived the attacks from early centuries dealing with countless heresies, schisms, and apostasy which sadly even occurs to this day. There is only one true church who has remained faithful, and preserved its dogma of faith and morals, with its richness and fulness of truth (see The Apostles Creed or Nicene Creed)- the Catholic Church. I cannot imagine myself joining a Protestant church because I will miss receiving the Eucharist at mass- which is the body, blood, soul and divinity itself of our Savior Jesus Christ. Protestants argue that this host is merely a symbol! It is NOT. The other Christian who broke off from the Catholic Church could not even agree amongst themselves the interpretation of the Sacred Scripture. It's like 40,000 pieces of glass scattering all over, and many denominations insisting on the false doctrine of "sola fide and sola scriptura"...all because they refuse the authority of the Church. If you remove the authority of the Church, the preservation of the truth in fighting all the heresies, schisms, and apostasy throughout history will not be possible. The Catholic Church should have crumbled a long time ago. On a different note, there are many protestants especially learned, and scholarly ones who are converting to Catholicism. Why is that? Because after studying thoroughly about the Catholic faith, they realize that all their misconceptions, and objections disappear. They eventually realize that it is the only Christian faith who has preserved the truth- with all its richness in the deposit of faith throughout history!

When Bishops from all over the world congregate for a synod not everyone speaks the same languages. Many would not understand very important policies being discussed. The solution is LATIN. All the bishops speak Latin and the Synod is conducted in Latin. At least ALL bishops should know Latin, it is required by the church for them to have a conversational ability to speak it.

Many in the Roman Catholic Church are my family members. And this is coming not of hate but of loving concern. So, while I definitely do not hate Roman Catholics, there are several doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church that I do, in fact, hate: (1) The "we were here first" argument. Roman Catholicism claims that it is the church that was established by the apostles, and that, as a result, it is the one true church. When I read the New Testament, however, the church I see is most definitely not the Roman Catholic Church. In the New Testament church, there is no pope, no cardinals, and no priests. There is no infant baptism, apostolic succession, worship of Mary, or prayer to saints. In the New Testament, the Lord's Supper is a remembrance of Jesus' once for all sacrifice, not a continual re-presentation of that sacrifice. The "we were here first" argument does not match the New Testament evidence and does not have validity except on school playgrounds. (2) The "we gave you the Bible" argument. Roman Catholicism claims that it decided what books belong in the Bible, and therefore, has authority over the teachings of the Bible. If that were the case, they did a very poor job of selecting books which support their beliefs. If that were the case, Roman Catholicism has provided its opposition with a book by which most Roman Catholic doctrines can be soundly refuted. But, it is not the case. God gave us the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Yes, God used the early church to canonize the Bible, but God was completely sovereign over the entire process. Yes, the early church councils that canonized the Bible may have been quasi-Catholic in some areas, but they absolutely were not Roman Catholic in the modern sense. No, Roman Catholicism did not give us the Bible. God gave us the Bible.

@CatholicDefender-bp7my I value your passion for your faith and respect your journey brother. I’m in no way trying to persecute people, just stating that I do have family members within the Roman Catholic faith and it disturbs me to know that layers upon layers of teaching are being added to the Bible, which should already be enough. I won’t have to defend it as the Bible can stand on its own as it is God’s words. In response to your comment, consider 2 Timothy 3:16-17, affirming that all Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching. While acknowledging the importance of the Church, these verses emphasize the sufficiency of Scripture in equipping believers for every good work. It's not a denial of the Church but an acknowledgment that God's Word plays a crucial role in guiding our understanding and beliefs. Let's appreciate the richness of both Scripture and the Church in our pursuit of truth. I don’t subscribe to opinions, I’m simply stating that a lot of what Roman Catholicism, is centered on venerations of people who are just like us and to my personal discernment should bot be the case. Does it ever occur to you to question why you have to pray to your saints before getting to God? When the word of God says in John 14:6, Jesus is the only way to the Father. I will pray for you man. Thanks for responding to me, I really appreciate it. I’m not persecuting anybody, just trying to speak what is spoken True in the scriptures. I get what you meant by reading 2 Peter 3:16. People who twist scripture will receive their due judgement, as the text was speaking about the day of the Lord which has been consistently spoken about by the latter prophets as well. More power to you and I just pray as you read the Bible, the Holy Spirit would shift something in your heart. I am not saying I know everything, I’m just saying that there’s a lot of mistruths out there that’s being passed on to people. Christ is enough.

For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Mark 15:32 Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him. Romans 8:34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Colossians 1:13-14 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Ephesians 1:20 He exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross! - Sabbath was on the time of the old Mosaic law which was observed by hypocrite Pharisees and high priests. . . NOW What day of the week did Jesus resurrect? - SUNDAY ... What day of the week did Jesus returned to see his apostles and show his wounds to Tomas who did not see him on resurrection Sunday the week before? - SUNDAY.. What day of the week did The Holy Spirit descend on the Apostles? - SUNDAY ... WHO CHOSE SUNDAY ?? Jesus did .. He makes ALL NEW!!... The old testament had baby Jesus being born in a certain city, but Our Father called an audible and changed where his Son was to be born because of Herod ordering the death of all recent born male babies from the original city.. You can keep the Sabbath, but The Lord's Day is Sunday and it's his business for why he chose it, THAT IS GOD'S WILL.

Last time i checked Yeshua was from Nazareth and jewish , where does it say in the old testament or torah to pray or worship idols? The council of nicean said you needed to be roman catholic to have benefits as a citizen, and the orthodox church seperated because they rejected the pope, this fellow is ignorant about authority. Jesus also said dont be like the hypocrites who kneel and pray to be seen in synagogues etc and call no man father , its written clearly in the new testament. There would be no bible without the old testament, torah, or prophets of old . Lastly gnostic Christianity was the largest branch before the catholics attacked them and called them heretics and attempted to destroy the gospel of thomas and gnosic scripture. Catholicism was introduced because the romans and greeks believed in many gods like zeus etc, so they tried to hijack jesus jewish teachings and turn it into a euro pagan fake religion, although catholics often mean well they lack gnosis or wisdom, which is the first thing king solomon asked for rather than gold which is what the church of rome hordes. Jesus has said the kingdom is within, you dont need the man made things the Roman idol worshipers preach about

No disrespect, Father, but the Old Testament was written by the people of the Jewish faith who were inspired by God. It is God's word, was written before Jesus was born, and is the prophecy of God of His plan for salvation for all mankind from the beginning of time. There were no Catholics present at the time the Old Testament was the written inspired word of God. And, there were no Catholics at the time that the New Testament was written, either. Neither Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, Paul, James, Timothy, nor any of the writers of God's inspired word in the New Testament called themselves 'Catholic'. They were referred to as followers of 'The Way'. The Hebrew Bible, the "Old Testament" was written mainly in Hebrew, with parts of Daniel being written in Aramaic. The Greek Bible, the "New Testament" was originally written in Greek and was written between 50 and 100 AD. When were these words translated to Latin? Jerome translated the Bible into Latin between 384 and 404 AD. Much later! The Word of God precedes the Mass, and the Chatechism of the Catholic Church, which was written by man. Matthew 24:35 tells us that heaven and earth may pass away, but God's Word will never pass away. Revelation 22:18-19 warns us: "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophesy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book." Man is not to add nor take away any of the Word of God.

Did the bible appear all of a sudden out of nowhere? The bible was compiled by the authority of the Catholic Church!!! Not the Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran or any other protestant denominations!!! Heck, they didn't even exist then!! And who's going to correctly interpret the bible for you??? You ??? according to how you feel or like it??? No no no homie....that's why you have all these thousands of protestant denominations. That's not unity!!! That's the work of the devil!!!

The bible is basically a prayer book..not a history text book. Quotes from Jesus are not verbatim but what the author said he might have said under similar circumstances

Where in the bible says that the bible is a prayer book? Where is sola scriptura in the bible? Where is the holy bible in the bible? The holy bible is a declared canon of the Catholic Church in the 4th century based from its Sacred Tradition, its books are accounts of the apostles/disciples and prophets testifying the divinity of Jesus Christ compiled together to counter the gnostic heretical gospels circulating during the 4th century.

So, the early church leaders used the OT and the Gospels and epistles of the NT 590 years before the RCC was even founded. The RCC had nothing to do with the Bible. Modern translations from over 6000 Greek manuscripts are not taken from the Latin vulgate which was made in the 1300s. The RCC is not the Body of Christ nor is it the church. The Body of Christ however is the church. Jesus literally railed against the Pharisees because of their love for traditions and laws. The RCC is no different. Mass is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible nor is the process of it described anywhere in the Bible.

The Bible is not a Catholic book. It is largely a Jewish book and the history of that people's relationship long ago with their God. Attaching the New Testament doesn't alter that.

So you don't need a "priest" to tell you this lie. See 1John 2:26-29. The Holy Spirit by reading Scripture yourself will confirm the truth that God Himself through Christ is the author of Scripture. It has been co opted by Catholicism and added to through their Catacysm against the warning in Revelation 22:18
