+Ben Sutherland Or Maybe u just fall for a false doctrine from the pit of hell and Satan blinded ur eyes ! As God brought me to him he gave me a repentend heart and i repented from all my sins then i was able to have faith and thats the true kind of salvation but u guys are ministers of satan and lead many poeple to a false christ without even regognize it !!. The bible teaches clearly that god created poeple with a free will otherways world could haver never have fallen in sin , and my bible als teaches that we have the choice to live be faith in the spirit or by unbelieving in the flesh for example because we love our sin more than god , so u think god will ignore all ur sins if he throw the angels out of heaven for rebellion against god u guys are hillarous but in the end god will reveal the truth and u ll earn the price of sin if u don t repent ....

+jesusist derherr (Finallyathome) are you your co-redeemer? What part of "free gift" did you not understand? Did you listen to Yankee's sermon at all? He made it crystal clear that if one lives according to the flesh they will reap the same. He stated that a believer does not get a free pass for continuing in sin. He also said that Christians do sin, and those who live in rebellion will receive God's chastisement. Why can't you Lordship Salvation believers understand this? We are saved by one thing and one thing only... Placing our faith in what Jesus did for us 2000 years ago, not that plus our performance. Stop trying to be your own co-redeemer. There isn't enough room for you and Christ on His throne.

I would give anything if I lived near this church!!! Those of you that do and attend I hope you thank God for this preacher!!!! I’m going to take this sermon and have my two daughters that are 20 and 16 set down with their boyfriends that they have been courting for years, both of them and listen to this message. Their father and I have been married for 21 years and we are Christians and we take them to church and do our best to live it in front of them everyday of the week, but we are not perfect. They need to understand the truths in this message. My daughters are saved and the oldest ones boyfriend is saved and attends church as well, but the younger ones boyfriend has a knowledge of God and has been to church on occasion but it worries my daughter that he may not know the Lord as Savior. So I believe this is a good sermon for the young people to hear because I wish someone would had made me hear it when I was young as them!!! I ask for anyone who can please pray that these young men seek after the Lord Jesus Christ and truly know Him as their own personal Savior. God bless all❤️🙏❤️

Everyone does. Satan works in your mind. That's why we continually use the Word of God against the lies. Jesus used the Word of God against Satan when he tempted Him. The Word of God is our weapon against Satan and every lie that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Find a few verses to use when you start doubting. I tell myself all the time "Stop doubting and believe." And, "God promised to keep me to the end." Also, preach the Word to yourself.

Don't presume you are saved if you are living in sin. Ask God for repentance. Esau sought it and did not find it. Many are called but few are chosen. Remember Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who saith Lord, Lord shall enter into God's Kingdom." Only those who do the will of God. Believe, trust and obey for there is no other way. Not where in scripture does it say Jesus died for the devils. anyone can believe in Jesus, but they must believe he died and rose again to pay their sin debt. Devils can’t believe that because Jesus didn’t do it for them. You are taking scripture out of context faith without works is dead, yes it is but the faith still exist others just can’t see dead faith that is all James is saying. How is "grace and peace multiplied" to the believer? Through the "knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord." Peace comes through assurance, and assurance comes through knowledge of the truth. If we are lacking knowledge due to neglecting the study of the Word of God, we can lose our understanding of the truth, and therefore our peace that comes through assurance. When we lose assurance, we can begin to live "carnal" because we have forgotten we were "purged" from our sins. 2 Peter 1:2 - Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the *knowledge* of God, and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Peter 1:9 - But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was *purged* from his old sins.

A lot of people say calvanism and Lordship salvation are the same things and they are not. Yes, both are doctrines contrary to The Gospel but each false doctrine has its own way of twisting Scripture. Calvinists tend to use 1 John (a book written to already *SAVED BELIEVERS)* as a way to make sure a person is "really saved". Lordship salvationists use Romans 10:9 to prove their laughable "point". Here is what Romans 10:9 says, _That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved._ A pastor at a local church said that Romans 10:9 says we are to make Jesus Lord of our lives. He literally took _"That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus"_ and said that confessing Jesus is Lord is making Him Lord over your life. That Scripture doesn't say that nor imply it! It's quite obvious that when someone confesses _"The Lord Jesus"_ they are agreeing that Jesus *IS* Lord. Jesus told the people in John 8:24, _I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins._ In other words, Jesus was saying if the people did not believe that Jesus was The Son of God whom also _IS_ God then they would die in their sins. Jesus did *NOT* say, "for if ye do not make Me Lord over your life", but He said, "for if ye *BELIEVE NOT* that *I AM HE".* (emphasis mine). Jesus may have been talking about being The Son of God here but Jesus also did say He and the Father are One (John 10:30). This parallels perfectly with Romans 10:9 that says _"that if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus"_ because any person who believes The Gospel confesses (agrees) that Jesus *IS* Lord (God). The greek word for "confess" is "homologeo" which means _"to say the same thing as someone else"_ or _"to agree with someone else"._ Confessing goes hand in hand with believing in the heart. You can't do one without the other because they go together. If someone truly believes The Gospel then they will agree Jesus is Lord! It has nothing to do with *MAKING* Jesus Lord because *HE IS LORD.* It's a matter of believing whether or not He *IS* Lord. So, although calvinism and lordship salvation may have some similarities, they do differ. They are the same in that both false doctrines teach Jesus' blood wasn't enough.

First of I would like to say I love ALL you calvinists out there and not just some of you but ALL of you, as well as every one else out there in the world. I can only truly love anyone by the love and strength GIVEN through Jesus Christ and the example that Jesus Christ has given ALL mankind. Peace be unto you ALL Israelite born or not and other words who are Jews or a Jew inwardly, everyone else. All Glory and thanks and love and power be to the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. • (Hosea 4:6 K.J.V My people are DESTROYED for lack of knowledge: because thou hast 👉REJECTED knowledge👈, 👉I will also reject thee👈, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing THOU hast FORGOTTEN the law of thy God, I WILL also FORGET thy children. • Hosea 4:6) • (Isaiah 28:9-11 K.J.V Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. • For 👉PRECEPT MUST👈 be upon PRECEPT, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: • For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. • Isaiah 28:9-11) There are many Holy Scriptures that disproves all 5 points of Calvinism called t.u.i.p. I'm going to be showing with the Holy Scriptures how the (“t”) and the (“i”) in t.u.l.i.p are 100% FALSE teaching by the Holy Scriptures. First what is total inability or total depravity, as well as irresistible Grace theses are the (“t”) and the Im (“i”) in t.u.i.l.p. T = TOTAL INABILITY a.k.a T = Total Depravity - Is the Calvinism teaching that ALL MANKIND are dead and 100% cannot do anything nothing at ALL, because ALL & EVERYONE has a heart of stone when born because of God caused Eve & Adam to sin. This is according to calvinism. Total inability a.k.a total depravity is 100% false teaching according to the Holy scriptures. Oh all Calvinists use (Ezekiel 36:26 K.J.V) as a proof text). Keep this verse in mind. L = LIMITED ATONEMENT- Is a Calvinism teaching that Christ died only for ALL the elect, Christ didn't die for ALL the non-elect, so ALL the non-elect remain Total depravity and 100% cannot do anything nothing at ALL because they have a heart of stone. Limited atonement is 100% false teaching according to the Holy scriptures. So now the Holy Scriptures: • (Hebrews 2:9 K.J.V • But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should TASTE death for EVERY MAN. • Hebrews 2:9) It’s appoint for all mankind to die once. • (Hebrews 9:27-28 K.J.V And as it is 👉APPOINTED unto men ONCE to DIE👈, but after this the judgment: • So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the SECOND time WITHOUT sin unto SALVATION. • Hebrews 9:27-28) So total depravity and limited atonement together you have ALL the elect who had a heart of stone and now has a heart of flesh, ALL the non-elect has a heart of STONE and are dead and 100% cannot do anything nothing at ALL. So total depravity & limited atonement are 100% false for the simple fact that (Romans 14:12 K.J.V) is in the Holy Scriptures as well as others. • (Romans 14:12 K.J.V So then 👉EVERY ONE👈 of us shall GIVE ACCOUNT of himself to God. • Romans 14:12) Here is how total depravity & limited atonement are 100% false for the simple fact that (Romans 14:12 K.J.V): Question calvinists: How is the non-elect going to GIVE ACCOUNT of himself to God. If ALL the non-elect have a (heart of stone) and 100% cannot do anything they have a heart of stone remember. So the teaching of total depravity and limited atonement makes (Romans 14:12 K.J.V) a 100% lie according to the Calvinism teachings because NOT EVERY ONE will give an account of himself to God if ALL the non-elect Have a heart of stone and 100% can't do anything nothing at ALL, is making God and God's word a lie. • (Romans 14:12 K.J.V So then 👉EVERY ONE👈 of us shall GIVE ACCOUNT of himself to God. • Romans 14:12) Lets look at another verses (Revelation 22:12 K.J.V). • Revelation 22:12 K.J.V • And, behold, I come quickly; and my REWARD is with me, to give EVERY MAN according as his work shall be. • Revelation 22:12 So if ALL the non-elect are have a heart of stone and are dead and 100% cannot do anything nothing at ALL, then how are ALL the non-elect And 100% cannot give an account of themselves to God how can God reward them according to their work, if God cannot reward them according to there work then (Revelation 22:12 K.J.V) it says EVERY MAN is a lie according to calvinism, in doinf so making God and God's word a lie. So calvinist's is God a liar and God's word a lie OR is Calvinism a lie and false teaching? (I Rich J Rio) Do hereby testify God to be Infinity times infinity percent true as well God’s word. • Romans 3:4 K.J.V God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. • Romans 3:4 As for calvinism and the calvinism teachings (I Rich J Rio) Do hereby testify Calvinism defined as t.u.l.i.p as the teachings of Calvinism to be Infinity times infinity percent wrong and false teaching according to God and God's word. • Isaiah 8:20 K.J.V To the law and to the testimony: if they speak NOT ACCORDING to this word, it is because there is no light in them. • Isaiah 8:20

Interesting note, I Cor. 3:16-17 the word for body never appears. also the "you" used there is a plural you in the Greek. So the Spirit is actually saying that you all are the temple of God. (The focus is on the believers as a group not the individuals per se. Each believer is included but the corporate nature is in focus here.) In chapter 6:15 Paul does refer to the individual and the body as being the temple of the Holy Spirit, but that is not the focus in 3:16-17. Paul is challenging them that they as a community are the temple of God. We Western Christians are so quick to take everything to a personal level that we often miss apply everything that is written about the church as a body. Yes the body is made up of individuals, but the focus here is on the totality of the body of believers. I am saddened that he is not more careful with the text...

+Robert F Volk Your comment - "1 Cor 3 does not refute the sanctification of believers, especially since the direct object of Paul's words relate to the specific division in the church relating to Paul's versus Apollos' teachings. There is nothing in this passage relating to the Corinthians not persevering in the faith or living like a lost man." My comment - The Corinthian Christians of the apostle Paul's time were living in gross sin and immorality, but Paul affirmed the fact that they were saved in 1 Corinthians 3:1 as he addressed them as "brethren" that were "carnal" babes in Christ. Paul would not have addressed them in that way if they were not saved. Elsewhere in 1 Corinthians Paul addresses them as as "brethren" in 1 Cor 2:1, as "brethren" and "carnal' "babes in Christ" in 1 Cor 3:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 4:6, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 10:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 11:2, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 12:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 14:20, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 15:1, as "brethren" in 1 Cor 15:58. (KJV) The above list in 1 Corinthians where Paul repeatedly addressed the Corinthian Christians as "brethren" is overwhelming evidence that these are saved people possessing eternal life. Paul would not have addressed them as "brethren" if they were not saved. The lives they were living were deplorable: 1)1 Corinthians 3:3 - there was envying, strife, and divisions among the Christians. 2) 1Corinthians 5:1-5 - a Christian man was having sex with his stepmother and consequently Paul pronounced judgment on this man in 1 Corinthians 5:5 where Paul says, "hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. 3) In 2 Corinthians 2:5-8 we read that this man was chastened and that God had mercy on him and did not terminate his physical life. Paul instructs the church to forgive and comfort him so that he wont be overcome by excessive sorrow and to reaffirm their love and concern for him. 4) 1 Corinthians 4:18 - there was arrogance among the Corinthian Christians. 5) 1 Corinthians 6:7-8 - there were Christians taking other Christians to court and there was cheating among them. 6) 1 Corinthians 7:2 - there was fornication among the Christians. 7) 1 Corinthians 11:21 - there were Christians hogging and gorging themselves with food, and there was drunkenness at the Lord's Supper.

If indeed mankind is ever found guilty of committing at least one betrayal, then there must exist a means to remedy that betrayal, and no part of that remedy can come from the betrayer, or anyone else who has betrayed. This is were only a true Savior can mend what was broken. And that "savior" must be impartial and not be concocted by humanity. A Savior who is not in the least impressed by piety, for even that is but self deception and arrogance. So what would a true Savior have left to choose from? No one, and yet there are the unworthy few who become chosen of the Savior and ransomed (but only at a great cost of the Savior). So you see, none of it has to do with the one who is unworthy, but the one who is worthy

I have never read any commentaries/books authored by Reformed theologians where they hold to the notion that perseverance of the saints means the regenerated can live as they like and still make heaven. Reformation "perseverance" means fighting the good fight of faith. One key indicator of a persevering faith is "...not contenting ourselves with a general repentance but repenting of our particular sins, particularly (W.C.F. Chapter 14)." That means following the directive the Apostle John gives the Church in 1 John 1:6-10 i.e. to acknowledge our sinfulness to God, i.e to confess it out of a desire to overcome it and by implication, to forsake it. There is no perfection this side of glory for the born again believer; but it is required of us to strive to obey the moral commandments of God out of obedience to Christ cf. Deut. 6:5 ; Lev. 19:18b ; Mark 12:28-34 -- all of which are grounded in love for the Saviour and our fellow man cf. John 13:34,35 ; John 14:15,21,23 ; John 15:10,12,14,17 ; 1 John 3:3 ,14; 18-24 ; 1 John 4:12,20 ; 1 John 5:1-3 The imposter "professors" who claim an inheritance in Christ are those who believe in their mind, the gospel truth -- but not from their hearts. They cannot persevere in the perspective of love because they are selfishly motivated, having never been regenerated, saved and justified. Christ will condemn them at the judgment because they worked iniquity (see Matt. 7:21-23) i.e. they were never convicted of sin by the grieving of the Holy Spirit and that because they never experienced His indwelling. Had they been regenerated sons and daughters of the Almighty, they would have undergone the chastening that God promises will occur -- a chastening that produces the peaceable fruit of righteousness as per Heb. 12:11. This summary is, in essence. the Reform doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints.

Let's look at Matt 7:21-23. You say they grieved the Holy Spirit? That's not what the Bible says. Jesus insinuates they DID NOT DO the will of the Father and they tried to be justified by their works which is WHY they WORK iniquity. Matthew 7:21-24 King James Version (KJV) 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; *but he that doeth the will of my Father* which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done *many wonderful works?* 23 And then will I profess unto them, *I never knew you:* depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock Now what is the will of the Father? John 6:39-40 King James Version (KJV) 39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. 40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, *and believeth on him* may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Reading commentaries will hinder the Holy Spirit teaching you the Word. He has to undo all the stuff that isn't true, PLUS lead you to truth. He is all you need to understand the Word, anything else will lead you astray. Also we ought to do as many commandments as possible but they do not justify you in the least, nor can they cause you to lose your salvation.

well, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or even receiving the Holy Spirit may not come immediately upon being saved. there are many times that the Bible mentions things like "but they had not yet received the Spirit...". so people were saved, but they simply didn't get the Holy Spirit yet, so they didn't grow storng as they could in their faith. but that doesn't always mean that they weren't saved to begin with, it seems. Acts 8:14-17 is a good place that mentions the saved people not yet having the Holy Spirit

What about reprobates? If a person lives in a carnal state long enough, God says he will reject them and give them over to their own minds. Am I understanding this correctly? Jeremiah 6:30 says "Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD hath rejected them." Romans 1:28 says "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;" Titus 1:16 says "They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

You must always look at clear Scripture. When a person places their trust in Jesus Christ they become a child of God. They are found in Christ, not in themselves (Philippians 3:9 , 2 Corinthians 5:21). No longer is the saved person ever found outside of Christ for we become eternally secure (John 10:28 , 1 John 5:13 , Ephesians 1:13). Now here is the important question. Can a SAVED person still live in sin? Yes, they can. However, they can never EVER lose what Jesus Christ has given them when they placed their trust in Him alone. God will discipline the rebellious child of God but we will never be sent to Hell for it. The verses you mention state the fact that lost people can live so wickedly that it would become harder and harder for them to trust Christ through the Gospel. They can harden their hearts. They still can get saved but because of their sin it makes them callous towards the Gospel. Specifically, Titus 1:15 says "...but unto them that are defiled and UNBELIEVING is nothing pure..." You can clearly see the next verse is discussing lost men who say they know God but have not trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. They can still get saved though. I hope this helps.

You asked: "Can a SAVED person still live in sin? Yes, they can. " Not so says my Lord Jesus. Your first error is assuming a person is saved who practices sin. Just because a person says he believes in Jesus doesn't make it so. Examine yourself to see if there is a radical change in your life after your professed conversion. I fear there might not be and that you haven't had your heart circumcised. If you are continually practicing sin you better question your salvation sir. You better stop trusting in your faith because that is not a saving faith which allows a person to continue in their sin without wondering if there has been a true repentance and faith wrought by the power of God. King David said: "Search me oh LORD and see if there be any wicked way in me." Yes, David sinned at one point but he repented and gained God's favor. Have you? Do you think repentance is a work you can do? Know this that God commands that we repent and have faith toward Him but this is a gift that must be given to you. You can not have faith of yourself. Read Eph 2:8-9. A sinner can only DIE in their sin. A saint can only live by being FREE from their sin. They must have a pure heart wherein is no guile and no guilt. As the Psalmist 32:1-2 says: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.2 Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile." There is no life in sinning because sin brings DEATH. Romans 6:23 "For the WAGES of SIN is DEATH..." "How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?" He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

LAStreetPreacher You would also have to tear out the book of 1John that gives us tests so we can know that our faith is rock solid. Paul said to the Corinthians examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. Test yourself. No such thing as a carnal christian. To be carnal minded is death. He conveniently left that part out. Jesus said if you love me obey my commandments. How can you be practicing unrighteousness and claim to have the SPIRIT of God inside you?

Jeff buchanan- I agree with you. There is no such thing as a "carnal" or fleshly Christian. The false teaching of the carnal Christian has infected the local congregations via the heretical Scofield Bible and Ryrie study Bible and many seminaries and Bible colleges which speak not the truth. The Christian is a spiritual person as opposed to a natural person which is not saved. The natural or carnal man is a lost person who may be very religious and profess to be a follower of Jesus but you will detect that person's false false by their actions which lacks godly fruit.

Romans 8: 6,13. an early death perhaps for the disobedient? acts 5:5, 9&10. God is long suffering, amen how long? do we want to find out? If you know a professing Christian and they are living like and wallowing in the world and you don't warn them: you are just as guilty as they are. some preachers have free Masons in their assembly and are too cowardly to warn them or any other church members that should be warned. it's our responsibility to be ambassadors for Christ; Not excuse makers!

I am also saddened how he managed to avoid mentioning I Cor 5:11-13 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES. Here Paul, by the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit says that there are so-called brothers hiding in the church! How do we know them? Their deeds area dead giveaway! And when their deeds come to light they are to be removed from the church! And what if they repent? We see in 2 Cor. that they are to be let back into the church. As I look at the big picture there are those who live in sin and are so-called brothers. Not truly saved and in time their false profession of faith will become clear. Then there are others who are living in sin and truly saved and in time their sin will become evident and they will repent of it and they will return to the body, the church. These two groups look almost identical to human eyes. It is only God who truly know which group the belong to... But we as pastors and teacher must be careful that we never give assurance of faith to one who is not really a child of the king! Just about the worst thing you could do is assure a so-called brother that because they prayed a simple prayer that they are saved! That prayer may be a real step of faith but it may also be the false profession of a so-called brother!

The argument he makes about Paul addressing the people in the church in Corinth as brothers proving that they were saved is not well supported in the Bible. Think about Demas. 2 times he is not just called a brother but a fellow laborer with Paul. but sadly in 2 Timothy 4:10 we find that Demas, having loves this world, has left Paul... If you look in 1 John we find that "If we love this world, the love of the father is not in us. And keep in mind the book of 1 John has the expressed purpose of helping people know if they are saved or not. The bottom line is that Paul addresses all the churches as brothers and yet that does not guarantee that every person in those churches was truly a believer...

+Dave Nesbitt So how about I John 5:13 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. How does that fit into your understanding of the purpose of First John? I have studied this book more than any other book in the Bible and I have come to the strongly held belief that I John 5:13 is the purpose statement of John by the Holy Spirit for the book. The tests in I John are given to help us see if the Spirit is really at work in us (thereby giving evidence that we are saved) or not.
@davenesbitt6346

pastormarkm Mark, I encourage you to read 1 John 1:3-4. John clearly states what this book is going to be about - right in the beginning of the book. " 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full." You see, John is declaring what he has seen and heard (from Jesus). For what purpose? Fellowship, not testing of salvation. This book contains a series of tests of your fellowship with the Lord. This is related to sanctification, not justification. Consider that if the tests in 1 John were tests of actual justification, then please go to chapter two and read verses 3 and 4. So if this is a test for justification, first of all do you believe you are justified by keeping the commandments? Thus according to your position, you would have to keep the commandments perfectly because that is what's required for justification - perfection. Therefore, we can clearly see that this verse cannot a test of salvation. Who could say they'd pass that test! No one! No one could be saved. All of those tests are actually tests of fellowship, exactly as he stated in chapter 1, verse 3-4.
@pastormarkm
@pastormarkm 8 лет назад
Hi Dave, Thanks for the thoughtful reply. As I see I John 1:3-4, it correlates the to other statement of purpose near the end of the book in 5:13 Our joy is complete when: 1) we know that God is light and not darkness at all (1:5-10) and when we know that we are truly in Him (5:13) I don't see how I can have joy if I think, as some of the gnostics of the day were teaching, that that the God of the OT was an angry vengeful, even evil God. 1:5-10 is written to end that thought once and for all. Also, how can I have joy if I have no way to be sure that I am truly in Christ? As to fellowship, the book does focus on fellowship with the Lord as part of its goals, but how can you have fellowship if you are willfully, "continuing to practice lawlessness?" Clearly you can't have fellowship with true believers or the Lord if you are living in rebellion. As to the tests leading to justification, I don't say that. I say that the continual growth in passing the tests proves that justification has come into a person's life. This does not preclude us from ever sinning again, but it means that we will in time repent and that over time we will become more Christ-like. Going outside of I John to help show how I come to this conclusion, look at Jesus' words in Matthew 7:21-23 and 25:31-46, we find that both sections deal with the judgment day where the sheep and the goats are separated. IN both He never once mentions faith or fellowship or belief. IN both He goes straight to lifestyle. In ch 7 He focuses on a continuing practice of sin as proof that no true fellowship had ever happened. (The focus seems to indicate a willful, continual pattern) In Ch 25 He focuses on the evidence of fellowship with Him by those are truly His showing love and care to "the least of these brother's of mine." If you didn't know better you would think that Jesus was teaching a salvation "of works" but what He is really teaching, based on the rest of scripture, is that true salvation always leads to life change and to good works. Jesus does NOT separate justification and sanctification like we do. They are inseparable according to His teaching. And please don't forget that I John 1:7-9 guarantees that true believers will not be prefect in this lifetime, but that they will confess their sins continually. That confessions is literally "to say the same thing." It means that a true believer will say Lord, when I lost my temper it was sin, please forgive me and make me more like Christ. So this is not a demand that to be saved, one must attain perfection in this life, but it, according to Jesus' own words, means that there is an observable change in direction in the life of every true believer.
@davenesbitt6346

pastormarkm You're just waving your hands at the issue. Again I ask you, do you keep the law regarding "Love the Lord your God with all your might,..." completely and perfectly? If not, then you have failed this test. If you consider this a test of whether you are actually justified, then you must keep it perfectly. Well, have you? If not, then by your belief, you are not saved.

The claim made in this sermon that Calvinists believe spiritual maturity must be automatic upon conversion is simply incorrect. Neither MacArthur or Sproul have ever taught that. Rather, the Reformed teachers take seriously the doctrine that the Spirit produces fruit in the believer. In other words, a professed believer who displays no change at all is probably a false convert. The sermon we have here teaches the supposed convert is just a different category of genuine convert, aka the "carnal Christian." This category distinction twists Paul's words in that it assumes when Paul says he writes "as to Carnal," that this is a permanent condition of the Corinthian congregation. If that were the case, then why would the epistle have been written at all? It makes no sense and doesn't fit with other books like 1 John. The heart of the matter here can be found at about minute 18 of the sermon in which Arnold teaches that the old and new creations are distinct individuals, as opposed to two natures at war within the same individual. Based upon that error, we must say that Arnold does not teach the doctrine of regeneration that is found in scripture; therefore, this is in fact a different gospel and as such must be considered heresy.

+David Broome Your comment - "The claim made in this sermon that Calvinists believe spiritual maturity must be automatic upon conversion is simply incorrect. Neither MacArthur or Sproul have ever taught that. Rather, the Reformed teachers take seriously the doctrine that the Spirit produces fruit in the believer." My comment - MacArthur states, "The only legitimate evidence of real salvation is a transformed life", that's it." "It's the ONLY EVIDENCE." MacArthur goes on to say, "If its not there, then there is no salvation." "But if you have a new nature, if you've been begotten by the Spirit of God, you are a new creation that is manifestly evidence because of your new creation, and transformation is the ONLY test of true salvation, evidence, not perfect, I sometimes say it's not perfection, but it is direction. It's the way your life goes towards obedience, I mean that's what Jesus said in John 8, "Whoever continues in my Word is my true disciple, my "mathetas alethos", the real thing. If you continue in my word, continue in it, living it, and believing it, and applying it. That's the evidence, if that's not there, then whatever moment you had, whatever prayer you prayed, whatever event you went to is meaningless in terms of salvation." R.C. Sproul states, ""No one has ever been justified simply by a profession of faith. We're all called to make professions of faith, but Jesus warned that people can honor Him with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him. And so what we have to do with those that we love, with those that we care about even though they've made a profession of faith, then they make this idea that they show no evidence from it whatsoever. This is what James is writing about there that these people claim to be having faith, claim to be justified, but it was empty, it was deadly, there was no EVIDENCE whatsoever, no manifestation of Godly obedience, and that's what you have to deal with, with people particularly if you love them." ( "How Do I Evangelize a False Christian that Doesn't Bear Fruit?" Q & A Session - MacArthur & Sproul") ========================================================================================================= MY comment - There are many people in society such as prostitutes, gang members, alcoholics, and drug addicts who have experienced a LIFE TRANSFORMATION after spending years in prison and going through rehab, but many are not saved. These people can sometimes exist side by side with Christians who don't experience life transformation after salvation. Eternal life is not an automatic guarantee of life transformation, perseverance in the faith, obedience, good works, good health, and prosperity. Life transformation requires the cooperation of the individual with the Holy Spirit and other factors and does not happen automatically overnight. It is wrong for MacArthur, Sproul, and other Lordship Salvation people to come to the conclusion that if there is no "change", "life transformation", or "evidence", then the person is "unsaved." MacArthur's comment is reeking with Calvinism's "perseverance of the saints" which is works salvation. MacArthur is clearly mixing justification and sanctification and making discipleship practices imperative for salvation. There are many devout Roman Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentacostals, etc, who exhibit fruits of the Spirit like love, joy, peace, patience, etc, and exhibit good works all in the name of Jesus Christ, BUT ARE NOT NOT SAVED because they all have another "Jesus" that is not the same Jesus of the Bible. The same is true in regards to Reformed and Arminian theology. In society, there are also many people like philanthropists, humanitarianists, Buddhists, the Boys/Girls Scouts of America, some martial artists, and even some atheists who exhibit love, joy, peace, patience, etc, and good works, but are not saved.

If you claim his teaching is heresy, then, do you call Paul a heretic? There are Old Testament examples of Carnal Jews, for example Judge Samson and King Saul, and we may as well throw in King David because in the end, he did NOT persevere! I can no longer believe Calvinism, because, however you dissect it and examine it with the scriptures, it comes out to deny, or twist the meanings of scriptures to exist. When the Bible contradicts Calvinism, Calvinists must interpret the sayings based on their presuppositions. Then, they use that interpretation to prove Calvinism is scriptural. And they add extra-Biblical babble to support it further. When God says His will is that none should perish, the Calvinists appeal to the "mystery will" of God, which means that God has one will he keeps secret in Heaven, and a contradictory will, a lie, that he tells us in the Bible. They squeeze in extra words, such as in John 3:16 where they insist that World doesn't mean everyone in the world because it only applies to the elect. I hope and pray that God opens your eyes as He finial opened mine.

If this is christianity... One could be a moslim or a Buddhist as well. There is no life in this teaching. There is no spiritual change in these people. I've experienced some people of this movement, like Steven Anderson. There is really no outer or inner difference between he and his followers and the people of the world. Anderson maybe worse concerning his behavior. He curses, he shouts like Hitler, dances like a clown on his pulpit, smashes his Bible almost in pieces, just to impress people how... radical he is? There is no such thing as a carnal christian. You are a new creation, living in christ likeness, or you ain't.

Let every Calvinist who believes ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED be sure that they have been TRULY SAVED as evidenced by their Holy Lives. Let every Arminian who believe they can lose their Salvation live such Holy Lives always that surely they will be saved in the END! Because Eternal Life is but the HOLY Spirit Living in the Christian manifested in Holy Living!

Please explain to me the difference between religion and a relationship with Christ? What faith saves? Is it saying the words, or a change of heart? Is their a difference? How do you define belief in John 3:16? And then we can continue, but know this: Jesus is the only way to heaven, and through His love will a person understand because and ONLY because He has called Him through His Holy Spirit, and changes that man into a born-again, Amen! (Nehemiah 8:6)

I agree, men should change after their saved but not all do thats why Paul scolds the new believers for remaining babes in Christ and not growing, then Peter says some Christians forgot Jesus purged their sin in 2 Peter 1. Then Paul describes how there are both saved people who will be honored with an abundance of rewards in heaven and saved people who will not have an abundance of rewards in heaven. Read 2 Tim 2:19-21 9 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work." & since Paul is talking about gold silver and wood here lets go to his statement that says if a man has no works or his works are all burned up HE HIMSELF SHALL BE SAVED! in 1 Corinthians 3;15 and if thats not enough for you to see that Calvinism is a lie then go to Psalm 89:39-37. God tells us what happens if saved people dont obey. HE DOES NOT SEND THEM TO HELL "If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; 31 if they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; 32 then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. 33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David. 36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me. 37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah." hope that helps.

jackie susanne Thanks and God bless your response, but you must continue to read the entire 2 Tim 2:14-25 ... that ... 25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, IF PERHAPS God MAY GRANT them REPENTANCE leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they MAY COME to their senses and ESCAPE from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will (the devil's will John 8:44). So, if you read the entire passage in context, God seals those that are His, and we HOPE that they come, but WE STILL do not know whom they are, and PREACH TO ALL the same Gospel of Jesus, and love Jesus as is CLEARLY taught in the Scriptures that Calvinism is not afraid of speaking in LOVE ... AND ... TRUTH post-salvation. The reason being that those that are weak in faith do not like the truth, nor do those that have no faith, almost the same, ALSO, hate the truth. Be joyous, not happy, peaceful, not wanting that He has chose those that He seals with His Spirit. Ephesians 2:8-10 is clear. John 17 is clear that He prays for His disciples, and NOT the world of the unsaved because He (Jesus) knows which are His since the foundation. Be joyous if one knows if one is born-again, and tries not to tempt God to the point of CARNALITY, if they are even born-again. Trust in Jesus, and as a result love Jesus to show thyself approved: 2 Tim 2:15 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

jackie susanne In regards to your Psalms passage and the children of Israel ... do you think God saves ALL Jews & Israelites just because they are Jewish? Do you think ALL people are the children of God or are they creations of God? Thanks and hope to serve in help through Christ & His Word.

We can be saved and live like a lost man? Let us not be so sure! 1st, We cannot practice sin 1 John 3:8-10 (He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.) 2. We need to fear God, only the wicked does not fear God. And the wicked perishes. Psalm 1:6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish. 3.We need to endure till the end Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 4.2 Peter 1:10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, ...yes, i have read also the verses that says we are predestined, nothing will snatch us from hands of Christ, Jesus will complete the work he started on us..etc3x. I believe that also, but we are not to live like a lost man... or else, read again the 4 verses above.

Legalism relies on fairness whereas Grace relies on justice. The Calvinist / Arminian crowd believe God needs to be fair. A person who drinks, gambles, sleeps around and trusts Christ for salvation will lose it because it's just not fair...why do they deserve it? Isaiah 30:18 tells us we have a God of justice. Christ took the full wrath of the law for us so we don't have to. Now, if we are cast aside because of a persistent sin, then the wrath falls back on us, which means God is a liar. Paul said it best, "Now there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ."

+wayneld30 I have to disagree. I am convinced that he got those ideas from highly valuing some ideas in the Bible and discounting others. Both Arminism and Calvinism fail to stay totally true to the Word of God. The truth is in the middle... God chooses, God draws and we respond. There must be a response on our part for salvation to come and that is where Calvin misses the point. The idea that God chooses us in eternity past due to His seeing that we would have faith one day as Arminius taught just does not square with the Bible either...

It's quite ironic this Preacher is ALSO a false Preacher. Eternal Security is NOT biblical either. You can lose your salvation. And you will be judged by faith and works. 2 Thess 1:8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
